Being a druid, the Shadow Cursed Lands have been rough spiritually and emotionally for Majexatli. So since they were already so low, they figured they might as well take chances with Volo's offer to remove the parasite. They're surprisingly okay with the result, though not thrilled with their new look. Plus it probably wasn't the best impression on newly recruited Halsin, and I have to imagine it gave Karlach and Wyll a fright.

ROUND 4 MATCH 1
Tumblr media
Qiu propaganda:
“i love them sooooo much i was completely head over heels for cove but then i found out about qiu lin and ol2 and they took that spot in my brain IMMEDIATELY. that should say enough. also i just really want them to win this time </3”
“They're my beloved :] and also the only OL character not disqualified so I had to hdjdbdj I just wanna see how far they can go now :]”
“Genderfluid ADHD monarch. They enjoy mountain biking and ballet. As a kid, if they're set to Crush, they'll desperately try to find a way to link the MC's favorite color to themselves in an attempt to impress. They're the most popular kid in town and for good reason. Can be sharp as a tack, especially in social situations, but also can be so endearingly stupid.”
“Listen. Listen to me. Here's why Qiu Lin deserves the win (ha)
- They're a trans POC love interest (specifically genderfluid and chinese-american)
- They spend a lot of time in Step 1 (the first part of the game where everyone is a kid) being super nice and trying to accommodate for you
- They specifically try super hard to bring you (and Tamarack) into their already established friendship group
- (It doesn't work out super well initially but they're trying, be nice)
- Qiu's also just. Super sweet when you're set to have a crush on them in Step 1
- Like, their word count almost doubles when they have a crush on your MC
- There's one part of the game where you can bring up your favourite colour
- On a friendship route (or if you're set to neighbours), Qiu will maybe make a short comment about something related to your favourite colour
- On crush? Qiu stretches so far to tie your favourite colour back themself. Your favourite colour is green? That's the colour of their jacket!!! It's black? Like their bike, did they mention their cool bike!!! It's white, [imagine this is in italics] the inside of their house (no, really)!!! [end of imagining this is italics]
- They're also set to have an arc about much they accommodate for others and how they go from over accommodation in Step 1 to no accommodation in Step 2 to finding a balance in Step 3
- Also, like, they do in fact go through gender identity issues. In fact, they spend Step 2 not quite knowing their gender identity fully
Now, vote for Qiu!!!!”
"Genderfluid and uses they/he pronouns.
Their hobbies are mountain biking and ballet.
Most popular kid in town by, like, a mile. And for very good reason.
Immediately devotes themself to making sure their new neighbors (the MC and Tamarack) feel welcome in their new town.
Loooooves teasing their friends.
Is genuinely confused if the MC doesn't immediately consider them friends because. He considered you friends.
Not canonically ADHD (yet. things can change.) but like. The ADHD vibes are strong.
Forgetful and writes stuff down in a notepad to remember it, then proceeds to lose the notes. This happens constantly.
They have a whole arc about going from being overly accommodating and giving too much of themself to others, to closing off and not giving anything, to finding balance and figuring out how to be kind and caring without overexerting themselves.
Also, one of their closest friends is a trans woman. This is relevant simply because I love Renee and had to mention her."
Halsin propaganda:
“I haven't played the game but he's hot, and that's enough for me”
“Big sweet dude who’s a bit of a daddy and a bit horny. He’s also really chill and the potential poly route for this game, which datable games hardly ever do. Also, apparently he might not originally been meant to be a full companion and romance, but then people were so horny for him in Early Access they memed him into the full game like Sans Undertale in Smash? I think that should just say it all for why he should get in.”

...devlog #1??? - mini BG3 VN
So I recently downloaded Renpy because I wanna learn how to code in my spare time and I figured I'd write about it here for both posterity & to record my process with it all!
The project I'm starting with will be quick and easy because 1) I really don't want to start with something huge 2) I have work & commissions to take care of and those will come first.
About the project:
If you've been following me you know I've gotten hugely into bg3 so I thought why not code a little scene where you get to meet my durge, Brigha! I'll put my goals and expectations under the cut. Here's my first renpy test ft. Wyll.
First of all, what the hell is Renpy? Very simply put, Renpy is a software that allows you to create visual novels. You can check it out (and even download it for free!) here.
The "mini VN" I'm working on will feature a scene in Act1 of how I imagine you'd meet and recruit (or not!) my durge if she were a companion in the game, featuring some neat little things and details that I will hopefully be able to implement.
This is what I want to put in:
Ability to input your character's name;
(royalty free) music playing in the bg;
Multiple dialogue choices with (very small) dialogue trees;
Perhaps some pop ups like perception checks or companion approval/disapproval;
Companion pop up comments, randomized in one instance towards the end;
Two endings.
It might seem like a lot and it probably is - I might cut a couple these to make sure I don't spend too much time getting the vn out there.
So far I have the first draft of the script ready and I'll probably leave it as is unless testers will point out inaccuracies or weird phrasing. Here is a little concept of how I imagine Brigha will be dressed when you meet her:
Tumblr media
Sprite wise she'll probably be the only one to have a full body/expressions (to preserve my wrists) but I might also draw little simple headshots of the other companions for when they'll pop up to comment.
As for backgrounds I will spare myself and just grab screencaps from the game that I will blurry/apply effects to, just to make them look a bit more coeshive with the sprites.
This is all I have so far! The VN will be available to play for free on your browser once I'm done with it :) ETA undetermined since this is a free time project done for fun.
Wish me luck!

baldur gate
belatedly joining the bg3 train. I played BG1 when I was a kid but never got around to BG2. here are my observations:
the hair and skin rendering. good god. the rest of the game looks decent enough but they really went all out on the characters. I have to know what technique they're using for that hair there, it responds to light so well, and it can handle a variety of hair textures and stuff. ...look I know what a nerdy start this is this is literally my job ok ><
the character designer gives you four different types of penis to choose from, but there's no face customisation sliders, just a choice of about ten presets. i know this game is basically an eroge but still, lmao.
no body sliders in general actually. might need to look into mods because the bodies in this game are kinda weird. everyone's sorta uniformly ripped, I can't make my boobs smaller, etc. etc. (and of course the whole 'nobody can be fat' thing that has been commented on often). I think I need to get some mods.
mind flayer body horror stuff is tasty. that opening cutscene goes so hard. og Baldur's Gate games would have some fun in their cutscenes - I still remember the one with the blood flowing around the cobblestones - but a plane-hopping battle with multiple dragons and a big squid spaceship is setting the bar pretty high. look forward to seeing if the rest of the game can live up to it.
there's something wonderfully tabletop about the first two companions being... well. the first player I can imagine being like 'yeah so here is my lore-accurate gith, I learned the gith language and everything, I've written a thirty page backstory for her' and the second player is just 'yeah here's my elf, she's called... Shadowheart'. they shoulda made her a warlock (but it's lucky they didn't because then we'd have two warlocks)
the starting armour for those two companions looks absolutely shit. it looks like it's spraypainted plastic, especially since it's skinned in a way where rigid metal parts bend at the joints. just way too busy as designs. I need to find some better drip for these girls asap.
of course I played a warlock. I almost always play warlocks in D&D. it's such a chuuni class and there's a lot of conflict potential in the patron thing. also I hear this is a game where it pays to have good cha on the MC, which pretty much limits you to bard, sorc and lock. I hope they make patron interactions a thing in this game.
the implementation of 5e combat as a CRPG is pretty thorough! also, D&D combat works way better on the PC where you can resolve everything in five minutes than it does at the table. I put it on Tactician mode but so far it's been pretty trivial, I look forward to more interesting encounters down the line.
the d20 rolling UI is kinda ostentatious huh
overall, seems promising. that said this isn't a liveblog, probably. unless I run into something particularly interesting.

Hi!!! Hope you're doing well. I really like your headcanons. You make the character voices really shine through in your writing, it's very satisfying to read 😌 also they're very sweet
So in the spirit of being fun, cute and silly, are the main 6 ticklish? How do they deal with a Tav that initiates tickle fights? (Or just. Attacks. Depending on their disposition i guess). Type your words writing one
Hello to you too! Tysm dhdhdh- I’m glad my silly little ramblings reach people’s brains <3
I shall type my writing words now u.u
Bg3 Companions: Ticklish?
Lae’zel would immediately clock what you’re doing as either an attempt to catch her off guard in an attack, or a spar, depending on how close you are. So much as attempt to start a tickle fight with her, and you’re going to be wrestling on the ground within moments. She does not understand the concept at first, which makes it a bit awkward the first time you do it, as you find your legs swept from under you and your back against the ground almost immediately. After taking a moment to try and explain no, you weren’t attacking her, she… still doesn’t entirely get it. Forcing laughter out of someone? Perhaps an efficient torture method for her to store in her mind for later. Phrase it as a ‘tickle fight,’ though, and well, she must master this new form of combat, of course. She is a bit ticklish, but you really have to target the right places, and… you don’t have many chances before she just demolishes you. It’s the lighter traces along her scars, or in the softer skin of her elbows and behind her knees. She also has to be comfortable enough with you to actually let herself laugh- otherwise she’ll just stifle it as to not show weakness. Or restrain you before you can even get the chance. Regardless, you will get utterly wrecked in any attack you try to make.
Astarion hates the idea of it, at least initially. He doesn’t like being forced to do anything, and especially lacking control over his own body/reactions. Any surprise attacks, especially from behind, immediately get him on the defensive- he’ll act all snarky and give disapproving clicks of his tongue, trying to cover up the fact that he just flinched pretty noticeably away from your hands. It isn’t until much later down the line, once he’s started healing a bit from his trauma, that he’d possibly enjoy it. Even then, it’s light, and expected. Little scribbles against his sides as you two are walking, or teasingly behind his ear is you’re cupping his cheek. His neck, especially where his bite mark from Cazador is, is off-limits. Brings up bad memories. But laying in bed, snugly against each other, tracing light lines along his sides and chest, tickling enough to have him all smiley without forcing full-on laughter out of him? That’s great. Helping him adjust to non-sexual forms of intimacy.
Gale. This man is definitely ticklish. I think there’s literally a line about it in-game if my memory serves correct. Now, is trying to sneak up on him and tickle him while he has the Netherese Orb in his chest a good idea? Debatable. He’d definitely make several comments through his laughter about it being a horrid idea to target the man who could level a town with such an assault, though he’d be laughing so hard it might not be all that comprehensible. Tara has definitely taken advantage of his ticklishness to get him out of fixating on things from time to time, nuzzling pointedly against his neck until he agrees to put a book down. I can imagine him being in the middle of some long-winded explanation, having gotten way off track from the initial conversation, and to get him to stop you just reach over and scribble a few fingers against his neck, making him squawk in protest and scrunch up his shoulders. He’d likely retaliate using a mage hand, poking at you during unassuming moments during the day and pretending to be intently focused on something else when you turn to him with knowing eyes. Hm? Oh, no, it definitely wasn’t him. He’s been looking at this rock the whole time! Now, fun fact about rocks- hey, get that hand away!
Karlach is an absolute tickling monster. At least, once she has her touch back. She’ll take any excuse to get close to people, so spontaneous tickle fights? Absolutely. Not only will she go along with it, but she’ll spring at you when you least expect it as well. She has the strength to push you away or take control easily, but oftentimes doesn’t use her full strength for the sake of fun. Her tail will be wagging as she laughs openly, not even trying to hide her enjoyment as you both tousle around on the ground. If she laughs too hard with the engine, it might still flare, but hey, just adds to the fun, right, soldier? …either way, maybe keep it under control. Will want to cuddle afterwards, especially if you both end up on the ground. She’ll definitely sneak some little tickles in there as well as you lay there afterwards. When you look at her with playful accusation, she’ll swear that was the last time with a too-wide grin on her face that tells you she’s lying.
Shadowheart would be caught off-guard the first time it happens, snorting with laughter and shoving the offending hands away. She’d act annoyed, but be secretly impressed that you even had the nerve. At times that she’d sassing you, little pokes at her sides have her lips twitching up into a smile. Especially at camp, since her camp clothes expose her sides. Will cackle almost wickedly if you really manage to get her good. She gets a little more snarky when she’s in a more playful mood just to egg you on. Snide little comments followed by small snickers when you have the expected retaliation. When she’s had a few glasses of wine, her laughter gets more open, and she may even loosen up enough to get you back, blending in with the shadows to bide her time before springing at you, catching you off-guard and getting her revenge, a self-satisfied smirk on her face. Hmph, not so cocky now, are you?
Wyll will absolutely take the excuse for some light-hearted fun. He’s definitely ticklish, and a bit embarrassed about it. After all, a princely-like heroic man devolving into childish giggles isn’t exactly charming in his books. However, joint laughter shared between you two is a blessing he won’t pass up. You may notice a slight huff of laughter that first night you dance together, your hands against his sides making his lips twitch in a smile. If you don’t use it against him then, the opportunity arises later. Little slow-dances at night as you graze your fingers over his sides or his lower back, getting soft huffs of laughter out of him as he shakes his head in amusement at your antics. He doesn’t usually retaliate in those softer moments, but if you come at him with a playful attack, he’s quick to shoot back with a mischievous grin on his face. Provoke the blade at your own risk.

this isn't really coherent, I might turn it into an actual structured.. something something later, so don't take this as anything but my brain notes getting jotted down, especially since the nature of discussions on class, wealth, capitalism, vampire symbolism, gothic themes, etc. are all a lot to get into casually here. but I'm. endlessly fascinated by cazador's reputation as a socialite in baldur's gate, the rat motif, astarion's obscured history as a magistrate, and how the game fucks around with classic gothic vampire aesthetics to an almost egregious degree. zero trying to pretend they're not calling back to what the "vampire" imagination evokes here.
the ostentatious yet dilapidated state of the mansion. the egregious wealth but the floorboards are moldy and bloody and miasma fogs the hallways. the rooms are dark yet opulent... the corridors loom over you and are strewn with many fine paintings you can barely see for the lighting, the floors are plush and carpeted and red. but the whole place at the same time is disgusting. bloody. thick with rot and feels almost rundown. I cant remember the exact line in the companion dialogue with shadowheart and astarion where shadowheart asks what to expect of vampire lairs, but it ends with him describing them in a way that's almost--fetid. cazador's wealth is on display and yet the whole place is rotten to the core, meaty and disgusting and full of horrors.
and this works in conjunction with the way astarion plays at class, elitism, and wealth. he plays the part of it quite well; he sniffs and turns his nose up, offers to take karlach to the upper city, his introduction is him telling the player that they "move in different circles," (the implication that astarion moves in elite circles, when in fact in act 3 he reveals he mostly spent time in lower city taverns). I'm not sure how to elaborate what I'm trying to get at here with the play between the rotten wealth & astarion's "playing" nobility; astarion's mortal life is only gestured to, as a magistrate, but you can feel the bones of it in astarion's character still. he plays the role shallowly well, when everything we learn about him directly counters any notion he was ever the social elite he plays at in the beginning. how astarion interacts with the others through his still distinctly elitist + wealth-centric lens despite quite literally being enslaved for the last 200 yrs (my life was bad but at least I'm not you. that mindset is rife for unpacking in terms of how he places himself above others so often, and recoils + is aghast when he sees himself especially paralleled with those he sees as lesser or weaker). if he came close to touching high society, it would have only been through cazador's own social parties with the upper nobility of baldur's gate (and even then, we don't know if he attended, if he was expected to play a role there, or if he was sequestered away). like the mansion's finery, astarion's own display of elitism is hollowed out, rotten when you actually see it, down to the worn out hems of his finery.
astarion, whose most often reoccurring animal motif is a rat; vermin, unfit for consumption; the symbolism there is RIFE. rats play double; coward, vermin, unfit for the finery of the house; rats as symbolism for disease, decay, infestation. vampires infest and feed on baldur's gate. astarion is, in many ways, a rat himself; a schemer and fearful. the game doesn't really try to comment intricately on social structures, classism, or vampires as symbols for the parasitically wealthy; in act 3 the focus is much more on the fucked up family dynamic, the social hierarchy between cazador and the spawn (and that's an entire thing in of itself; astarion weaponizes the cycle of abuse over the spawn as quickly as he expresses sympathy for them). or if it's trying to do a real critique of wealth & using vampire tropes to do it, there's nothing necessarily.... intentionally placed there as critique. but it's still very much in line with the gothic horror symbolism that oftentimes does utilize the vampire as a way of cracking a bit at the Horrors of the Rich. intentional or not, it's very interesting. rats! the way the rich are parasites on the land! the way the cycles of power rotate between the spawn as they all claw for favor and security and power in the house but ALSO hold themselves higher than the human servants or the werewolves!

I have another angsty Tav x Astarion fic idea, because that’s all this game does to my damn brainpan these days. I might try writing it out eventually.
So. Anyway. Hold on to your hoodles, because this one involves Haarlep, so… trigger warnings abound.
I’m thinking about a storyline where Tav/Durge killed Raphael and Haarlep is alive and has the use of Tav’s body.
Imagine if, some time after the events of the game, Mephistopheles knows that it was Tav who killed Raphael. I don’t think he cares for his son in the way that normal mortals care, but just the idea of a mortal strolling into a hellish abode and soundly murdering the master of the house is disturbing. Insulting. And for it to be Mephisto’s own son? And so soon after mortals stole the crown of Karsus from the archdevil’s own vault? It’s downright obscene.
We know that Mephistopheles had sent Haarlep to keep an eye on his son. And Haarlep obviously survived Tav’s raid on the House of Hope in this scenario. What if it eventually comes to light that Haarlep has the form of the mortal who murdered Raphael? Hell, if your Tav is a Durge, they’d be the same mortal who stole the crown. Mephistopheles is intelligent and calculating, but in other Forgotten Realms media, he has an underlying bestial rage that contrasts with his sophisticated facade. So he figures out the Haarlep connection and he wants this mortal to feel his wrath.
Now, I’m a serial spawn!Astarion-mancer and I’m obsessed with his sobering comments to Tav after the whole Haarlep debacle. So I specifically have him in mind here, but you can swap him out for your Tav’s romanced companion(s) of choice.
Again, some time after the final battle of the game, Tav and Astarion are adventuring together, perhaps trying to find a way for him to enjoy the sun. By this point maybe they’ve started learning to deal with the occasional Haarlep episode together. At the time this happens, they’re camped together, perhaps in the wilderness, or the underdark, or a modest inn with the curtains drawn. Perhaps they have a nice, north-facing room with thick curtains at The Hearth in Candlekeep where they’ve been perusing old tomes for leads to help Astarion.
Wherever they are, Tav starts to feel an episode coming on. They feel the familiar ghostly hands undressing them and pawing at their body… but this time they quickly realize it’s different. These aren’t the roaming hands of a lover. They’re not even the desperate hands of a person looking for a good, rough fuck. This is deliberate. Slow. Angry. There is the ghost of claws and teeth on their skin, a warning of what is to come. This ghostly lover is violent and the touching slowly, but surely ramps up into brutal fucking and torment. Throughout it all there is an edge of pleasure, because that’s what drives the magical connection with the incubus, but this is all so horrifically wrong.
And Astarion can do little more than watch as Tav writhes and gasps and chokes and trembles and cries. He can’t stop it. What is he thinking and feeling while watching the person he loves endure this torture?
Haarlep has stamina far beyond any mortal and Mephistopheles isn’t trying to kill them, he just wants to get a cruel message across to Tav. So it goes on. And on. And on. And on. And on. For hours. There are teeth, and claws, and fire, and the lashes of a whip. There is the sensation and being bound and twisted near to breaking. All the while, there is a stimulation of Tav’s sex, turning pleasure to horror. It is, quite literally, punishing.
And eventually, it stops.
Tav stopped thrashing hours ago. The near bone-breaking tension in their body finally relents and they go limp. Still alive, but exhausted and utterly broken. How does Astarion react in the sudden stillness after the horror? How does Tav deal with the mental and physical aftermath? In the next hours and days after this, how do Tav and Astarion come to terms with what happened? And the fear that it can happen again? Will they put aside their quest for Astarion and resolve to bring an end to Haarlep at whatever cost?
What can I say? I just enjoy putting Tav and Astarion in horrible situations… as long as there’s a happy ending or the hope of one.
(Addendum: if anyone is inspired to flesh this into a full fic, have at it. I likely won’t be able to badger my unmedicated brain into doing it)

I got a comment about it, so I guess it's time I make a post defending Vivienne because I love her and want to give everyone the chance to have a more nuanced opinion of her.
I know people don't like her, she's a circle mage who doesn't like the rebellion and is pretty uptight. She's easy to dislike if you're promage. So with that in mind let's go over the main reasons people dislike her and why they make sense for her as a character.
1. She's anti-rebel.
Vivienne at her core is a lawful character. She wants order and structure because unfiltered chaos harms and can even kill people. A large reason she joins the inquisition is because she wants to offer assistance in reforming structure and making people feel safe again.
2. She's pro-circle
Vivienne is one of the mages we meet who understands fully that magic is dangerous. She has a respect for her craft and walks into every situation knowing full well people are potentially afraid of her. The circle offered a place for mages to train their skills, and non magical people to feel more safe knowing that mages won't cause harm they can't control. She also fully admits that her experience isn't the same as everyone else's but that it's the only real answer anyone has right now for some way to get mages to a more stable state.
3. She's protemplar
This one is more complicated. Because she wants the templars so that mages have a failsafe should the worst happen, but when pressed will agree that templars aren't the solution to the issue of magic itself. I think in her ideal version of events templars would simply be bodyguards only intended to step in if shit hits the fan but often times like with any society, a group given enough power can become corrupt.
4. She hates Cole.
Imagine this: you're a knight enchanter who had to go through her harrowing which involved combating a demon that would possess you. An event which many mages do not survive, some don't even get the chance to do because they aren't trained enough. Something that no doubt you would've seen happen countless times over your time as a mage. You've heard of demonic possession and maybe even had first hand experience with them and how bad they can be. Then one day a supposed spirit shows up claiming to want to help your new allies. It can disappear and reappear at will, completely hide itself from everyone if it chooses to, can wipe the memories of people so they don't know they met it, and reach into the deepest pits of your mind to pull out your most sensitive and impactful moments which it then speaks back to you in cryptic language. Recounting your exact feelings, making you remember even something you might not want to. Now with those thoughts is it remotely surprising she wouldn't be fine with him having free reign. Demons lie all the time, why would she have any reason to believe his intentions were coming from a good place. I love Cole, he's always in my party in inquisition, but we can't act like people being wary or afraid of him is just nonsensical.
5. She's uptight and posh, expecting the same of you.
You are the inquisitor. A warlord, basically a figure head of the chantry who is gaining influence on the divine. Legends spread about you and some of them even come back to you when Josephine speaks of it. Vivienne 1000% has heard every single one and is far more aware of your social standing than you are. The inquisition needs support to function, some of which will come in the form of the wealthy elite paying good money to be part of something good to bolster their names. Vivienne is a skilled player of the game and a staunch believer that if you have the power, it is your duty to use it and use it well. Just because you don't want to be a symbol doesn't mean you get to avoid it. That option is taken from you the minute you're named inquisitor.
6. She hates everything.
She's judgemental. But fair. Much like any companion if you do something she morally opposes she's going to dislike you. Allying with mages who overtook Radcliffe, pushed out the nobility in charge as well as the people, and then allowed Tevinter to take control? It's rational she'd be upset about that. Letting Celine die so that someone else can take the throne? Regardless of feelings it causes orlais to potentially destabilize in the middle of a war, the sky is ripped open and good allies are now probably kneecapped as they deal with the death of a monarch and changes in how things run. Approving of rebel mages? It's an endorsement of chaos, the mages running free is doing harm. I don't agree with her on everything, but I'm not surprised or mad if she doesn't like me when I don't.
Vivienne is a caring character who has never really been able to just be open when she is. Even if you're on her shit list she does the bare minimum of inconveniencing you by moving around some furniture because, again, you're in the middle of a war where everything is going sideways and actually doing something drastic would be to damage the whole initiative. You don't have to like her but she receives more vitriol than any other character in the series and at the very least people can try to understand her perspective.

So, today for flufftober, the prompt was 20 questions or Truth or Dare. I chose a somewhat similar drinking game. Yes, this is finally THAT fic. ;) Word Count: 505
"Scanlan, have you ever-" Keyleth begins, but Scanlan drinks his ale before she can finish.
"I've done a lot of things, Keyleth. A lot of things," Scanlan boasts.
Vox Machina bursts into laughter, and Vex swivels so far back on her chair that she almost tips off. She's done quite a bit of drinking this evening, but her reaction time is still quick enough to catch herself. Percy chuckles next to her, and she purposefully ignores it.
"It's my turn to ask a question." Scanlan looks around the table, searching for his victim, and settles on Percy. "Percy?"
"Yes?"
Scanlan's responding grin is almost frightening. He leans forward and asks, "Have you ever had dirty thoughts about someone in Vox Machina?"
Vex chokes even though she's not currently drinking anything. Everyone falls silent as they wait for Percy's answer. He was very private about this area of his life, often choosing not to engage in discussions or answer questions. After a few moments pass, she wonders if he might back down.
Then Percy blinks, raises his glass of wine to his lips, and takes a drink. When he looks back at Scanlan, his face is almost unreadable.
"Was it me?" Scanlan asks.
"I don't have to answer that," Percy's tone is calm and collected, but she can see his ears are turning pink.
"Don't be embarrassed, Percy. I am very handsome."
"It's not you."
"Wait," Scanlan pauses, "does that mean you still have them?"
Percy doesn't answer, which is an answer in itself.
Who is it? The question burns on her tongue like fire. Because she is more than a little curious to know who Percy thought of in the dark of the night when he was full of want and longing. But Percy's fingers drum on the table, drawing her attention to his stiff posture and the tightness in his shoulders.
"Scanlan, you asked your question, and Percy answered it. So, Percy, it's your turn."
"I cede my question to you, Vex'ahlia. I'm going to bed." He stands from his seat, brushes down the front of his coat, and leaves without further comment.
A few faces around the table wear identical expressions of shock. But there is a look of mischief in Scanlan's eyes. Before he can act on it, Vex asks the first question that comes to mind, "Vax, have you ever lost one of your daggers?"
Vax raises an eyebrow at her but takes a drink. Once everyone is distracted, Vex looks for Percy. She catches only a glimpse of him turning down the hallway to their rooms. Her companions are laughing now, but Vex's thoughts are on one thing and one thing only.
Was Percy thinking about someone right now? Was he imagining exploring skin with his mouth and hands? Was his heart racing, his skin flushing? The idea of it awakens something hot and tight in her abdomen.
She gulps down the rest of her ale to drown it out, but to her horror, that only adds to the burn.

Looking through the soundsets for some alienage pals, and i have spoils to share!
Tumblr media
First up is Shianni. I'll be honest, i thought this was her Bad Idea comment at first because she can be so sarcastic, but it is fun to imagine her saying this approvingly. Most of these i've never heard in the game, and i don't know where i could find the actual audio files
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just love her sass
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's a cute little parallel between Shianni and Soris's battle cries. I'm picturing the childhood wrestling matches already. Shiannii's probably around 2-4 years younger than him but kicking his ass more often than not
Tumblr media
Soris also has a pair of delightful figures of speech for his Good Idea and Bad Idea comments
Tumblr media
The existence of a Spell Failed comment for Soris had me 👀 for the half minute before i remembered that every companion has one. I assume it's in case any talent regardless of class gets interrupted, but i did start to think about that AU potential for a hot second. Might have to write a fic about it someday. Apostate Soris AU is just ripe for the presses
Tumblr media
This one i just really want to know what his line of thinking was. While he's in the party, his only other party member is the Warden. If the Warden goes down, there's no "we" to help them unless you are in that conditional and very narrow window before f!Tabris finds Nelaros. Even while active, that would still mean running across the map to find him. Maybe it was originally planned to have someone else also join you during the break in or for Nelaros to live? Idk. Could just be a regular oversight since it's such a generic line
Tumblr media
Moving on to Cyrion with something that is so simple yet would fill my Tabris with so much shame
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also we've got Valendrian coming in with the fire in his belly! He's so much more vicious than i expected! "Such a pathetic creature you are." Hello??? Does he actually know how to fight? Am i going to have to actually play Darkspawn Chronicles for a chance to maybe hear some of this now? What other possible combat scenario could this be intended for except that the toolset doesn't include anything DLC except Shale? I might go insane about this
(Yes, there's also a note that he'll never be in combat or controlled by the player, but at least his threaten and 5th battle cry don't look to be generic. Idk i have thoughts and questions about this, but Alistair's character sheet says he's 32, so it's not like it'd be the first or biggest retcon from the toolset)
Tumblr media
We've also got quite a bit of elven coming from Valendrian! I don't think "Mur ta tanalla" even has a known canon translation but whatever it means clearly works as a battle cry
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And to close out, some pickpocket reactions in the order of Shianni, Soris, Cyrion, Valendrian. Why did you attempt to steal from your father? Now, he's confused and disappointed
Soris's is definitely written with the CE Warden in mind, but i'd wager Shianni's is written with a non-CE Warden in mind. It's not that i don't think she'd say it, but (considering the VO note is "threatening") i do think that she'd instead take to it more as a poor joke if it were cousin instead of a near-stranger, especially if this cousin didn't accept Vaughan's bribe
Valendrian's line here also doesn't seem like he's speaking to a Warden Tabris considering he's described as a surrogate uncle to the alienage. But also him threatening anyone seems out of character. What happened to "the world has far more use of those who know how to stay their blades"? I'd expect exasperation, admonishment, maybe a little shaming. Can you imagine him saying this to a Cousland armed to the teeth? Combined with what i've already shown from him, it really makes you wonder how much his character changed over the course of development
Tumblr media
And, uh, Nelaros. Either this line is miscategorized, or he doesn't quite get the concept of a war cry

Heart, Soul & Mind — King Dice TV Tropes
Tumblr media
The manager of The Devil’s Casino and the secondary antagonist of Heart, Soul & Mind. A despite being referred as a good for nothing lackey by the Devil himself, King Dice remains loyal to Old Scratch and is willingly to partake in his wicked schemes to take over the Isles.
After his humiliating defeat at the hands of the Cup Brothers in the events of the game, Dice is left bitter and determined for some revenge best serves cold. But he’s also hoping for a consolation prize when our heroines and their friends wind up on the Isles, his eyes on Lexie…
Abhorrent Admirer: He up and decided to make himself Lexie’s unwanted suitor despite knowing she is already dating Liam. And Dice as abhorrent as he comes.
Actually Pretty Funny: Or in some case, actually pretty catchy as he happily snapped his fingers to the beat of Elvis Presley’s song, “Return to Sender” as it blasted out from the card the Dreamstones send to him and the Devil thanks to a spell Natty casted. He also commented that Lexie has great taste in music.
Amusing Injuries:
And Now You Must Marry Me:
Whatever he has to pass up as a heart, he has it set on making Lexie his wife and “Queen of Diamonds”.
He attempts to do this straight once he kidnapped Lexie in the sequel.
Ax-Crazy: In the sequel, “Playing With Loaded Dice”, he becomes severely unhinged when in possession of a crown once belonging to an evil king that makes him demonic and Drugged on Power.
Berserk Button: Aside from losing a bet, Dice develop another one in the form of Liam “getting in between him and his gal”.
Brainwashed and Crazy:
Co-Dragons: With Anubis. He might be the Devil’s right hand but Anubis is the Devil’s number one Bounty Hunter, both valuable to his assets in their own right.
Crazy Jealous Guy:
Deadpanned Snarker:
The Determinator: No one or nothing will stop him from getting what he wants and that’s Lexie’s hand in marriage.
Didn’t See This Coming:
Didn’t Think This Through:
Embarrassing Nickname: Katie likes to call him “cheese cube” just get under his skin.
Entitled to Have You:
Even Evil Has Standards: He might be sleazy but even he wouldn’t bring himself to spike a woman’s drink.
Evil Cannot Comprehend Good:
Evil Gloating:
Evil is Petty:
Faux Affably Evil:
Forceful Kiss:
A God Am I!: When he turns Brainwashed and Crazy by the demonic crown in “Playing With Loaded Dice”.
Humiliation Conga Line:
Hypocrite:
Idiot Ball:
I Have You Now, My Pretty: He doesn’t waste time having Lexie to himself with the flirting and Evil Gloating.
Karmic Butt Monkey: While he’s still a threat to the Dreamstones and their companions, he suffers a lot of karma in the Humiliation Conga Line variety.
Karma Houdini Warranty: After several chapters of getting away with stealing Mugman’s soul, Dice faces his biggest comeuppance at the hands of the very same mug he had hurt when Mugman gets his soul back in the final battle.
Laser-Guided Karma:
Malicious Misnaming: He enjoys calling Liam “shrimp”. He also calls Natty “pinky” because she wears a pink shirt.
Never My Fault:
Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!:
Not Brainwashed: Subverted. Despite warnings from the figure who sold him the crown, Dice willingly placed it on, granting him dreadful powers his imagination. At first he’s pretty much in control and knew what he’s doing but he eventually grows Drunk on Power and becomes much more unhinged akin to Magnifico’s path of full on villainy from Wish
Oh Crud!:
Revenge:
Screams Like a Little Girl:
Smug Snake:
Stalker with a Crush:
This Is Gonna Suck:
Thinking Up Portals: Much like in the game when you visit the Die House, Dice is capable of conjuring plot holes beneath his feet and jump down into them to teleport from one place to another anytime he wants. He also has portals into his own little pocket dimension on occasions.
Trash Landing:
Underestimating the Hardcore:
Undying Loyalty: Despite the fact that the Devil called him a good for nothing lackey since the final showdown in the game, Dice still stays as his right hand man.
Villainous Crush: The moment he laid eyes on Lexie for the first when he and the Devil were observing her in the prologue, he was instantly smitten. And is heck bent on making her his gal.
Villain Takes an Interest: Upon seeing Lexie as the Devil was spying on her in the prologue, Dice was instantly smitten.

Codgers and Geezers
In 2023 two fellows from Georgia hiking the PCT became You Tube sensations. David “Rumbles” Good and Joe “No Filter” Cook, known collectively as the Codgers hiked the PCT. These two guys are definitely not twenty or thirty somethings. They are two experienced hikers who previously completed the AT and decided to take on the PCT. Rumbles and No Filter, 62 and 66, were in the minority of 2023 PCT thru-hikers attempting to head straight north through the snow-covered Sierra and beyond. Many decided to leap frog these snowy parts and come back later.
Tumblr media
No Filter, Rumbles, and their hiking partner to Kennedy Meadows, Mr. Freeze on the AT 2022
I have not watched every one of their many videos but enough to build an impression. These two fellows appear sensible in their decision making. For example, determined to not take any unnecessary chances traversing sketchy snow covered trails or crushing miles to crush miles. Even going through the Sierras they did so with caution and a no hesitation to turn around or skip over a tough/unsafe part. They are determined for sure, while appreciating their surroundings and each other. How they revel in a sunrise was something I found very easy to relate to.
Rumbles has an easy voice to listen to. At times while watching and listening to their videos Rumbles has reminded me of Bob Ross the easy speaking TV painting teacher from some years ago. No Filter adds a nice compliment to the overall commentary. These two men are clearly good friends and have spent good times together.
This all leads me to thinking about my own PCT experiences hiking with my companions Rees and Jim or as we affectionately refer to ourselves as 'Team Geezer'. We weren't always 'Team Geezer'. When we began hiking together we were in our twenties. We walked most of Washington's PCT in one stretch solidifying our desire to do more together. Most recently one of us reached their seventh decade and two of us are not far behind. Most importantly we are still hiking together. We just completed a little over 70 miles on the Colorado Trail.
Tumblr media
Team Geezer 2023
That recent hike was a notable reminder of our shared history. It also points to the joy that we feel in each others company, not to mention the wealth of experiences we have shared over the years. We have shared tents, food, and many laughs as well as deep conversations. Another factor in all of these years of walking together is a mutual determination to continue making these times together happen for as long as we are able.
As I watch and listen to the Codgers I can relate easily. I would love to meet them as I am sure we would much in common beyond walking the PCT. It seems that the National Scenic Trail experience, i.e. the Triple Crown, or any of the other notable trails to hike in the United States can easily be assumed to be a young persons game. These two hikers and my partners and I aim to affirm that is not a 100% given. In fact there are many more middle to later aged people hiking sections or as thru hikers every year. That suggests that how Team Geezer sees itself is not to dissimilar from a bunch of other folks who have found their way to the same place.
I commend the Codgers for their achievement. I also appreciate the way they gently remind anyone who watches and listens to their stories unfold on You Tube that there is so much more to experiencing the PCT than simply making it an extreme sport. That may sound like a bitter older person's comment but honestly that is an opinion that I have held from my earliest hiking experiences. Essentially it is not the trip it is the journey. It is the journey of walking and the journey of friendship that go hand in hand and linger far longer than one might imagine.

1, 2 & 11 for giilvas my beloved !
🫶🫶 WEEEHEHEHE
questions can be found here !
1) Where can your Tav be recruited? Are they first encountered on the Nautiloid, or in the Nautiloid crash region? Or are they not recruitable until a later act?
I made a post about this exact thing a while ago but now that I have thought on it more and have thing solidified, here are my Official Final Thoughts !
Giilvas is an act one companion who has two recruitment locations . If the player goes to the ruins right by the crash site , they can see him listening in one the looters conversation . Upon approach, he will notice the player and the current party ( a full party will draw his full attention , anything lower will only get a gaze in their direction before he refocuses back on the looters ) and will put a hand out to tell you to stop coming closer . At this point , the player gave an option to try and speak to him , only to get cut off by the Tadpoles .
The vision that will be described at this meeting will show flashes of him preforming in taverns , travelling through thick forests and will describe the feeling of both hunting and being hunted . Giilvas will abandon his hiding spot, and will approach the party . He’ ll ask you to stay quiet , but he’ ll comment on how assuring it is to find someone else that survived the crash ( if the player has any companions in their party , he will make a joke about the player ‘ starting a rescue ‘ ) . His little mission you get from recruitment here is to get his violin back from the looters , you can do this mission without having him in your party , but it is a requirement to keep him . If you go three long rests without managing to return it ( or persuading him to accept a different instrument to use ) he’ ll leave your camp to get it himself . ( this isn’ t permanent he can be re-recruited in the crypt )
If the player does a long rest before trying to recruit him at the ruins , he will be gone . This leads to the goblin camp recruitment I talked about here !
2) Do the other companions have special comments or reactions upon recruiting your Tav?
I feel like everyone definitively has a little comment if Giilvas decides the party isn’ t worth his full attention … I like to imagine everyone had a reaction that ranges from “ Oh he’ s underestimating us ? Fuckhead . “ to “ If he sees us as no threat , I worry about what he’ s watching . “ I can hear Lae’zel’ s Chk ! perfectly in response to him shifting his gaze away from everyone ..
If he’ s recruited from the goblin camp , the dialogues shift to talk about how he was also visited by the Dream Guardian without being in the main travelling group . And how he might be a bit washy with what he sees as friend or foe . He did work with the goblin camp and the followers of the Absolute and managed to convince everyone he was a stark believer when he was just . Planning to kill them / cause a collapse of the group from the inside . Definitely some comment about how he might not be on the player’ s side forever . Giilvas’ boyish charm and high charisma cannot protect him from the possible betrayer allegations
11) Are there any moments in the game that trigger unique dialogue for your character? (Like Gale’s anecdote about the barfight after you save the goblin prisoner)
If you defeat Auntie Ethel ( or aid her ) he will have a dialogue trigger ! If you kill her , he will be visibly ill and will request to leave the party . You can persuade him to tell you more details on why this fight seems to have drained him so thoroughly , and he will reply that the fight itself is not the issue , but what was fought instead .
If you ally with her , he will disapprove , and will trigger dialogue where he is just Fuming . He’ ll mention knowing someone who thought a hag could provide all safety and answers , and will ask the player to guess were he ended up . The player will gain more disapproval if they respond to this with a joke answer and he’ ll utter a curse at the player, ending the dialogue . Answering with the correct option , Buried , doesn’ t gain approval But … gives the player a little insight into who Giilvas is talking about and Why he’ s so upset with the player for taking this risk .
I feel like he would have one within the shadow cursed lands , something about how he had written about it and sang about it and somewhat dreamed of being able to see it first hand , but I don’ t exactly know what would trigger it .
He also has a talk with the player if they choose to go get the blessing of Loviatar . He’ s a follower of her after all so .. he would Like to Hear ur Thoughts about that !

4,6,16 for whoever is on your mind
I think we should harass Len. I think we should make him be social. xD
[OCs as NPCs]
4. Where would you recruit them from?
Setting aside considerations of the how, likely Taris or Tatooine - in general, somewhere where the law of the land is a bit more... nebulous, or, at the very least, probably somewhere that's contested. The thick of things is often where the best credits (and best action) are to be found and you're unlikely to find him anywhere else. Unless it's the cantina. Then you could be a fine sport and buy him a drink.
While he definitely runs more freelance these days, you'll still likely find him on Imperial lines. He might've left Black Ops behind, but he's far from having swapped sides.
I suppose as a sort of bonus because I can't quite uncouple the set, regarding 2 & 3, he would absolutely be a class companion (and exclusively an Imperial class, though I'd table considerations for probably any of those 4) and he is not showing up to help you with Zakuul unless you were already acquainted from vanilla. You couldn't pay him enough to cozy up with a bunch of Republic dogs otherwise. Lensan's really ride or die once you actually earn whatever... weird ideas of loyalty he does have, but until then, you're a job and he's just here to punch his ticket and move on to the next one.
He's still gonna gripe your ear off about growing soft or something, but he supposes he'd owe you that much of a favor, after everything.
6. What would be their original recruitment outfit?
Hmmmm. A little tricky since I'm parsing generally without too much thought into exact backstory and how you'd run into him, but I do love any excuse to play dressup with my idiots, lol.
Probably something like so? Len's admittedly a bit reckless and probably doesn't wear nearly the amount of armor you'd think he should for someone who prefers the guns blazing approach.
Tumblr media
16. What’s their idle chatter like? Do they talk a lot (when you arrive on each planet) or do they suddenly say something in some strange places?
Probably on the less chatty side. More likely to drop you a random gunslinging tall tales in the middle of nowhere. [Insert Ratatouille "I once killed a man with THIS THUMB"]. He might drop you a war story comment or two at a few of the spaceports based on his service with Imperial Black Ops - likely something when you pass through Corellia about the Empire's mission there. Particularly on Tatooine or Rishi, you might get a comment about swindling some of the locals out in a game of cards and some good drinks - or maybe you should just shoot them? That's faster. Gotta show you mean business, after all.
He's also probably got a smart remark or three for visiting Alderaan's nobility. He prefers action to boring diplomacy, so what dialogue he does give you probably reflects that. xD He's maybe a touch trigger happy, but you've got an image to maintain as some of the biggest badasses in the galaxy, right?
I'd also like to imagine he'd ask what kind of credits you think the Sith are willing to dish out when you pass through the Citadel in Dromund Kaas. "Whatever you're thinking, probably double it. With the right client." It's a little obscene what Imperials are willing to dish out for a professional to keep things nice and quiet. 💅

I got Kain into the companions and reached the part of Dustman’s Cairn where the silverhand shows up and Farkas goes wolf on them. Which is already a kinda “what is happening” moment in game, but then you have Kain Hawke, Fereldan and Chasind. AKA she just blanked at Farkas pulling his “Hope i didn’t scare you” comment after.
Because on one hand, Farkas seems like if a mabari was a person that didn’t talk much. On the other hand, werewolf. Just.
"i hope i didn't scare you" "Farkas, where i come from werewolves were a Problem for quite a while, so i'm going to need mmm all the info on what the fuck just happened." "I'll try?" "Are all the companions werewolves?" "No, just some of us." "Do you have to keep it a secret?" He thinks a moment. "We're not supposed to show people, but you're my shieldsister. It's probably okay if you know, but not others." "Right. Does... does it hurt? Transforming?" "You get used to it. We should get going though, the silverhand might get the fragment." "And those are werewolf hunters, i assume?" "Yup." "Wonderful." "Mm-hm."
She has an orcish waraxe, a bow that makes you invisible while you have it drawn but drops it once you do something, and apparently a job working with/for werewolves that are just super jazzed to be mercenaries.
Tells Anders later, largely as a “our lives continue to be Like This” thing on the road and he very calmly informs her they have to make camp so he can tell her about the time the warden commander had to deal with some werewolves in Fereldan. Partially because Amaranthine was the safest he’d felt in years aside of being with Kain, and partially because Justice likewise reacted with !!!! about most of the Warden’s stories.
I imagine the quips about preferring when the dragons were just made of lightning are in workshop.

more baldur's gate 3 playthrough thoughts--this time, i've completed both shadowheart and astarion's companion quests and also stumbled upon more sidequests! maybe someday i will finally manage to finish my first playthrough of the game!
so i randomly stumbled across the house of grief because i keep freaking getting lost LMAO--but before going in, i talked to shadowheart so i could get her back in the party, and she had dialogue talking about the grafitti she drew? interesting, i knew there was grafitti of hers somewhere around the city but i don't remember encountering it while having her in my party. i suppose i must have, and simply didn't hear her comment on it. anyway, since i'm at the house of grief now i figured i might as well go ahead and go there.
i ultimately had shadowheart do the mapping of the heart because she said she wanted to and it seemed like the obvious best choice for the story (she even disapproves if you don't let her), but first i let my tav do it just to see what would happen and wow it was actually really interesting to think over the answers to those questions! here's how i had him answer them, along with viconia's shockingly accurate assessment of his flaws:
Tumblr media
for the last question, "i would be restless" would've also been a good answer, but i just picked based on what my first instinct was at the time. these are neat character building questions tbh.
oh yeah, i should also say that my whole party hit level 12 a few battles ago! and i feel like i've seen a lot of complaints about how you'll most likely hit max level by mid-act 3, because people dislike gaining exp and having it essentially go into the void + being unable to keep improving your characters. but tbh i like knowing that i'm already as powerful as i can possibly be and if i'm having trouble, all i have to worry about now is my equipment and build! in most games where the max level is 100, i either never manage to reach that at all or only hit it while doing postgame content after the main story is over. so i actually like this change of pace. and maybe it's just me being bad at games, but even at max level i still find the combat challenging and fun.
the choice with shadowheart's parents... i was really annoyed at having to make that choice for wyll, and i could see things going either way with shadowheart, so even though elenion would absolutely save her parents if it were up to him, he told her to decide for herself what's right. she chose to save them and i am so proud of her. seeing her cry and say she feels like she doesn't deserve to be anyone's daughter almost made me cry, but now her parents are in camp and everyone is happy! what a beautiful resolution to her quest. i imagine elenion, who hasn't actually visited his mother in a long time, would go to visit her in the city as soon as possible after this.
i wasn't sure what i should do next so i just, went ahead and grabbed astarion and took him to confront cazador because why not! i had to google how to get to the palace and i'm not sure how i was supposed to naturally figure it out tbh but maybe that's just me. anyway, meeting sebastian and the gur children was really interesting and unsettling. and so was hearing astarion talk like he'd be totally fine with having to sacrifice 7,000 souls in order to ascend, even though i actually knew about that part already.
anyway, i did manage to defeat cazador and first of all act 3 is really making it clear that i am absolutely horrendous at this game 😭 i think i was so excited to get through the story that i just didn't take the time to properly learn the mechanics as much as i should have, but oh well, i'm still having fun even if i have to retry the battles a lot sometimes! and wow uh. i've barely even used astarion on my team in this playthrough but holy shit i love him. seeing him get covered in blood from stabbing cazador to death like that was kind of hot. i did not expect him to break down crying after killing cazador!?!?! i wish you could walk over there and give him a hug. i used the hugging mod i have downloaded to do that right after the next conversation with him at camp. just really felt like he needed it. i'm also really proud of him for, when you say you think the spawn should be released, admitting that they're innocent and shouldn't have to suffer for his mistakes, and then coming up with a plan for them to live in the underdark. act 1 astarion would definitely never have done that.
Tumblr media
karlach is so sweet and wholesome it makes me wanna cry sometimes.
i love that minsc has something to say about pretty much all of the companions. i love how he has so much respect for both karlach and wyll, especially with how much karlach looks up to him. also fucking love that he's all jealous of halsin for beating him at arm wrestling and that he needs boo to tell him that rather than being scared of blood, astarion might just possibly be a vampire. and he doesn't like gale because he uses big words like "posterior" and because boo is scared of tara adkgjdh 😭
he wouldn't tell me anything about shadowheart though?? he said it would unwise to talk about her behind her back. idk why that is, but i really hope i'll be able to ask him about lae'zel after i get her back.
i found volo?! he stayed in our camp all the way until the end of act 2 since i never let him do eye surgery on anyone, and then he just unceremoniously disappeared, so i was wondering where he'd gone off to. elenion didn't really care because they can't stand his ass, but oh well, they saved him anyway because unfortunately they don't see "being extremely annoying" as an acceptable reason to leave someone to die, and now he's back at camp again! i also started the "avenge the drowned" quest, and then found the society of brilliance lodge and--oh god no this made me remember that one society lady in act 1 who wanted the githyanki egg, which then made me remember lae'zel is carrying that egg around everywhere and nurturing it, and she got kidnapped. we have put the egg in danger. blurg tasked us with saving omeluum but i really want to get lae'zel back, actually.
going to end this post here, but yeah, i think i probably will just go ahead and try to kill orin next. i miss lae'zel a lot, and i think it would feel wrong to go to the house of hope without her.
