the fascinating thing about the maze runner books vs the movies is that they're both tragedies, but just...different kinds. in the books no matter what wicked did, they never got close to a cure. it was all for nothing: all the torture, all the death, all the money and effort spent trying to cure something that was just unstoppable. the world burned while a few hundred immunes survived, and there was no other way the story could have gone.

but in the movies they were so close. thomas was the cure. they had it in their hands and could have saved everyone, but they were just too late. wicked was destroyed, the last city fell, and with it the world's last hope for a cure. they almost got the cure in time. they almost made it in time to save newt. they almost won.

riley asking shawn, "when you looks at me, does it remind you of what you can't have?" was a crazy ass moment because yes the line was about shawns intimacy issues and his inability to commit to a longterm relationship, but holy shit if that isn't the most blatant way you could confirm that shawn was in love with cory and the existence of riley was just a constant reminder that he had missed his chance and could never be with cory. what if i went insane

also it drives me bonkers when people say aragorn was right in that scene because he's literally not!! he's pulling the same rhetorical bit that he does with boromir at the council of elrond where he's willfully ignoring people's very justified & specific suffering & grievances by saying that everyone has problems. he's deliberately looking past all the things she's had to deal with & the very clear and cynical way that makes her look at the world to say that men are dealing with the exact same problems which is blatantly not true

realllllly hate this whole “almond mom” phenomenon and how it’s become so normal for people to post videos making fun of their moms for their disordered eating habits. like obviously your mom is really struggling with her relationship with food and u think it’s funny and okay to post her struggle publicly to places like tiktok where millions of other people can shame and degrade her for her food and lifestyle choices (that are not really her “choices” bc she has a disorder!!!) it’s sickening bc obviously ur mom needs help healing her relationship with food and u think it’s just some silly little trendy phrase and are so eager to subject ur own mother to that type of public humiliation!!!!!! in what world would this make things for u and/or her any better, like it could only make her feel more insecure to know how many random people are judging how she eats and lives

He's (Alexei) the deuteragonist along side an angry, traumatized 15 year old girl named Natalya that he acts kind of like an older brother to and a voice of reason (because someone needs to tell this hurting lonely child that you can reason your way out of a conflict and that stabbing isn't the only option)

tldr for the setting is that America dropped a nuclear bomb on the Ural Mountains in like 1985 and it cut the USSR the west off from Siberia completely, the rest of the world is falling apart but the story only really focuses on Siberia as a setting

technically they're Handmaids Tale ocs but I'm just taking the end of the world scenario Attwood set up and running with it in the complete opposite direction, I watched a single episode and went "americas a fundamentalist shitshow with sex slavery but how's the rest of the world handling the end of the world" and that led me to making these guys
