y'all i'm calling it now, Winterfold is gonna be a zombie setting in the 90s

I noticed this poster at the beginning of tdim about some kind of festival held in Winterfold forest. Also idk if it's just a coincidence but is Jeff Kolchek supposed to hint at Jason/House of Ashes? Because at the end of hoa when the two workers of the containment team talk, they mention the incident being like Winterfold

And since House of Ashes is set in 2003 Winterfold must be set before that, so the 90s check out (if they're talking about the same Winterfold).

Also the handprint on the logo is very cliché for zombie aesthetic

Well idk if i'm connecting some dots here but i wanted to share anyway

So... we know Supermassive Games Trademarked the following 5 titles:

The Dark Pictures: The Craven Man

The Dark Pictures Presents: O Death

The Dark Pictures: Directive 8020

The Dark Pictures: Intercession

The Dark Pictures: Winterfold

Season 1 of The Dark Pictures had 4 games and I believe Season 2 will have just 4 games too. The odd one out is The Dark Pictures Presents: O Death. I think that will be something else, because it has "presents" in the name and also "O Death" is the song that plays at the end of every The Dark Pictures games until now.

So the horror-based Supermassive games (Until Dawn, Quarry, Dark Pictures Anthology) all seem to have a pattern of... I guess you’d say dual-horror themes, yeah?

So for instance:

Until Dawn had the stranger, implied to be a serial killer- but it was the Wendigo that was the true villain.

Man of Medan’s draw was a ghost ship, but it ended up being hallucinatory chemicals.

I’m curious as to whether or not the future games in the Dark Pictures Anthology are going to follow a similar pattern. Of the ones we have names for thus far:

The Devil In Me (obvious serial killer draw, it’s based on H.H. Holmes)

Directive 8020 (space related, judging from the moon in the title)

The Craven Man (unknown)

Intercession (there’s an inverted cross where the T is, plus the word has a religious context, so probably something relating to Christianity)

Winterfold (unknown)

O Death (Literally has a picture of the curator, so something involving him)

I’ll really be curious to see what the developers come up with for these games in terms of the twists and the “true villains” of the games. I really hope they do what they did with Until Dawn and pull on lesser-known monsters and horror concepts, things you might not be able to predict until you actually find them in-game or have some niche familiarity with them.

Which Season 2 Title for The Dark Pictures are you the most hyped for?

For me, Directive 8020, because I'm all for Sci-Fi/Space Horror, and after seeing Alien: Isolation and Dead Space, I'm excited for it.

Ooo i didnt know any of these titles were out yet hmmm Id have to say O Death or Craven Man those both sound rlly cool.. intercession seems interesting too. No idea what winterfold coukd b and i dont usually find sci fi horror too interesting tbh. Im more of a folklore or monster horror kind of gal (But i also lovee escape games or torture movies like Saw or the Zero Escape games)

Winterfold will likely be set in an Arctic/Snowy environment, and I theorize that it may do with a monster/creature of sorts, something like from The Thing with a parasitic virus or mutation, because while a zombie/apocalyptic type of genre sounds cool, a monster horror genre sounds better honestly

If it was something like the thaw or the shining i could see that being very fun (or something akin to cabin in the woods!) Im very excited for the next wave of games and I loove monster horror so i hope we get more of it in the dark pictures anthology

Here’s what I’ve theorized on the other 4 titles for Season 2 of The Dark Pictures

Intercession will likely have to do with Demonic Horror such as The Exorcist and The Num

Winterfold Will possibly have to do with zombie/apocalyptic horror

The Craven Man will likely have to do with Folk/Cult Horror such as Wicker Man and Midsommar

O Death is the one we know the least about, but it will definitely revolve around The Curator

I love wicker man and midsommar so that is soo promising to me <3 I coukd see winterfold being interesting but im hoping its not just another zombie game tm since I dont really find those too interesting, O Death being about the curator is why im excited for it :D dark pictures curators/analysts/fortune tellers r always so interesting to me. Intercession has a lot of ways it coukd go right and a lot to go wrong so im hoping its not another little hope.
