Zenyatta and heartbeats (and ram too ig)

Saw something that gave me ideas for this, so I'm deciding to dip my feet into overwatch again for a moment; totally not trying to totally reignite the rot because my brain is a dry sponge rn

Post is mostly zenyatta centric since hes my number 1 bbg, and Rams part is mostly just last minute thoughts that I got right as I opened this up to write

He's oddly fascinated with heartbeats, I'd think! But not just in a cute or intimate way? If that makes sense? At least in the beginning

He likes the rise it gets whenever it picks up; be it from passion, anger, fear, happiness, he just finds it

Not just your heartbeat, though, just beats in general

Bro probably gets a thrill when he gets someone heart to work overtime in a sadistic way tbh

That's really the idea, just "ram is kinda fucked up like that"

But in a romantic setting? I guess in a weird way he'd compare it to the humming of his systems; ironic since I doubt he'd ever want to compare omnics to humans and find similarities

So I feel like him being able to see your beat makes it intimate, in a way? Everytime he manages to fluster you he sees it flutter for a moment along with catching your body temperature rising

If you're both in a relationship and have gotten there, I like to think he'd rest his hand on your chest, and just. Feel the beat against his palm, almost entranced by it

He takes note of how it slows when you fall asleep, and how it picks back up when you wake up; or how it speeds up when you have a nightmare, and so on

Some days he'll rest his head on your chest and listen

Just the two of you, holding each other in silence

No words for that. Again, it's all that chronically online brain that 'people need to know my opinion and I saw this thing on my feed so I must tell them I personally don't like it'.

It's like that effect that's going around TikTok, the... Not me?? Or something like that. Anyway, it's crazy and it's happening more often.

People don't care for they're opinion, I certainly don't. Hey, if Ghost (a fictional man 😱) gets put in a fictional scenario with anyone, let it. Let people make stuff for him and Johnny, just... Block the tag or something if you're that pissed about it.

But since they haven't done that, they're probably purposely seeking out this shit just so they can get their two cents in that nobody asked for.

It's that whole thing where they feel like everyone wants or needs their opinion on how to make a certain thing better based on their own preferences or wants. And that just not how the world works, and it won't ever.

I see this a lot when looking at anime fans as well. People assume that when you're being gifted or shown something that they eventually have control over it. The "well I'm the consumer of this anime/art so I get to say what you should do with your talent for me, for free, and if you don't I'll cyber bully you or something."

And the new shit coming out as the 'effect' where suddenly if it's in your feed or on your fyp then suddenly it's all about you and if it isn't specifically tailored to that very person's being then they get angry.

Like if TikTok shows someone a video on bean soup and someone goes "well I don't like beans" then it isn't for you.

And people need to learn that.... Aah, I hate people sometimes.

Yeah, again, being online seemingly 24/7 has rotted away some peoples brains.

and no one is talking about it. analysis via really long textpost on this hellsite.

in prime vine and musical.ly days, i vividly remember talk of todays generation having a very short attention span- the six second videos rotting our brain and making anything longer than that no longer interesting and too overwhelming. then, vine died, and musical.ly turned into todays tiktok, and todays tiktok has expanded the length of videos to be anywhere from 3-10 minutes long. people on tiktok post whole videos in segments on their profile page- whole movies, even! tiktok having a function that allows people to go live also allows for the opportunity for people to go live for however long they want, which brings me to my next point: streamers.

even just on tiktok, i can think of an ASMRtist that literally goes live for 6-7-8 hours everyday- sunshinejazzy17- while simultaneously posting hours of content to her youtube. simmer lilsimsie goes live also everyday for hours on end, while also posting much shorter content on her main youtube channel everyday, and posting all of her streams on her side channel, moresimsie. these are not only two different genres of content, but also just the tip of the iceberg on the different genres that stream often and for many hours. there are a wide variety of gamers, which are very popular these days, makeup artists, nail artists, artist artists- you get my point.

the pinnacle of it all- youtube. i was first introduced to my interest in long videos via people on this very website obsessing over quinton reviews newest video five months ago, where he released an eight-hour long video as a part for for his collective and ongoing 22-hour long series about victorious and icarly, and the essential universe of it all. i watched all 22-hours and so did many other millions of people. i think conspiracy and analysis type videos rein supreme over this sort of hour long content- probably right next to gaming. when shane dawson was still relevant, in his prime years he was making documentary type videos that were a couple hours long. his old counterpart garrett watts and old camera man andrew siwicki have gone on to make videos that are a couple hours long exploring haunted places- see: the video released on garretts channel a couple weeks ago that is two hours long and guarantees another, upcoming, similar video at the end. that video got almost 3 million views.

i literally just watched a video that was almost two hours long by BoyzHubUltra about how izzy from total drama island isn’t crazy, and it got almost 600k views, and that’s what got me on this bender in the first place. not to mention, people like the theorizer have been making hours long videos for years now.

back on asmr, the ranges of asmr that there is- from typing on keyboards, to studying, to roleplaying, to gaming, to literal history asmr- makes the dedication of the creators pretty obvious, knowing most of their audience is only listening to it to fall asleep.

tbh, i haven’t even mentioned podcasts at all either, and that doubles with youtube since most podcasts also upload their content to youtube, but people are more easily able to just listen to hours of content while still doing everyday tasks like working or groceries. i actually just got finished with the first season of dungeons and daddies, which is a dnd podcast (and brings in a whole new can of worms that i’ll try not to delve into as much). when i started the first season, they were already about ten episodes into season two, and it took me about one or two months just to finish the first season. every episode was over an hour long, and there were 70 episodes. all in the first season alone.

i also listen to quite a few reddit podcasts, like rslash, who posts short videos everyday and has years worth of videos, and two hot takes which doesn’t release as often, but has hour long episodes when they do.

i could continue talking about the different genres and platforms where people are consuming long hours worth of content, but i need to try to wrap this up, and i’m sure i’ve only just barely scratched the surface of it all.

adults are convinced we hate to pay attention to things, but we don’t. we just focus our energy into paying attention to things we find interesting. it’s like movies, or that tv show with episodes as long as movies, but treated less seriously because they didn’t have as big of a budget when creating it. we focus our energy into consuming hours of content via livestreams, youtube videos, and podcasts, and to them it’s like we’re consuming nothing at all. it’s a similar effect to not considering fanfictions “real books” just because they’re not published. that fanfic you just read that’s the size of the lord of the rings books isn’t suddenly less impressive just because it was written by a 16 year old who hasn't graduated high school or moved out of their parents house yet.

to the older generation who aren’t aware of all this, who never had internet growing up and don’t bother learning, we’re just simply wasting time on the internet. maybe we should just keep this secret to ourselves and keep them oblivious to it- it’s funny to see the shoe fumble when it doesn’t know where it’s going.

You stood by the beach, letting the wind brush against your tanned skin and your obsidian-coloured locks. You looked at the sky, enjoying the sky's painting on the sea's surface. The soft warmth of the Sun hit your skin, blanketing you in comfort. Your long dress swished with the dance of the sea breeze, letting the cool air hit your legs while your feet dug the sand beneath you.

When was the last time you've felt this free? You couldn't remember the last time you felt the freedom only a beach could provide.

One thing was for sure; Oikawa couldn't stop staring at you.

He stood from afar, taking in the view of you under this orange, pink and purple-painted sky. He loved how your skin glowed under the radiance of the Sun, how your hair shifted slightly into a more brown shade as it moved with the wind, how your slightly parted lips smiled as you closed your eyes and lived in the moment.

You looked like a goddess to him - there was no denying that.

He walked towards you as he gripped the insides of his pockets. As soon as he met your back, he pulled you into a hug.

"You good?" you say, ruffling his brown hair.

You heard a small 'mhmm' before he placed his head on your shoulder, pressing his brown, tousled hair against your neck. His hands found their place around your waist, pulling you into him.

"You look amazing," he said as he kissed your cheek, "I couldn't stop staring at you."

"You don't look so bad either, Tooru," you say as you place your hands on his.

A comfortable silence met the two of you as you both stared at the scene unfolding in front of you. The slow clouds dusted pink turning a dark purple, the pale orange sun finding its home in the middle of two mountains, the changing colours of the sky - it was all perfect.

You felt Oikawa move from you and you suddenly felt cold.

"You okay?" you say as you turned to him looking at you with such love.

Who wouldn't? You looked amazing.

You stood in the middle of the dual-coloured skies, splitting the dark tones rising in the sky with the warm tones leaving. He adored how both palettes looked rich against your tanned skin, not missing how soft and supple your lips looked.

You couldn't imagine how strong the urge to kiss you was for Oikawa.

It nearly broke him.

"Misty..." he whispered, "Could you close your eyes just for a while?"

You nodded, closing your eyelids.

You felt the setter's thin fingers reach your neck, softly touching your skin. You smiled, enjoying the feeling of him treasuring you. As soon as his hands left your skin, you felt a string around your neck.

"I know I'm graduating soon and you won't be able to see me for a while," he started, "But I don't want to lose you. I see you beside me until the end of my days, love. I hope this little present reminds you of how much I adore you."

You held the chain in your eyes and your heart melted.

It was a silver chain encrusted with small, turquoise gems. You watched how each gem shifted in colour under the two vastly different colours of the sky. You loved how it turned such a dark purple under the night's canvas, yet shined a bright green under the Sun's bright light.

You tore your vision from the gift to Oikawa's worried-filled face and began laughing.

'Such a worrywart,' you said to yourself as you placed your hand on his cheek.

"I love it, Tooru - thank you," you said as you kissed his cheek.

"Misty..." he pulled you into him, "Don't forget me."

"You think I will? You were the best thing in high school, Tooru - I can't look back at Seijoh and not think of you," you said, cupping his cheeks, "I won't forget you - I will continue to walk beside you if you let me."

"You're the only one I want to walk beside me, love."

You both kissed under the night sky, the sea and golden sand dusting your feet as passion consumed the both of you.
