I was very disappointed in the lack of quality Mine playlists so I made my own 🤞

for the sake of this post not getting too long I am grouping all the important songs into different categories pertaining to the different eras of mine tm

Pre-Daigo Misery (Nobody - The Other Woman)

This section is mostly abt Mine being a lonely little weirdo (characterised mostly by the smiths unsurprisingly) and because this era lacks a lot of actual content my notes are less specific between songs

There are actually so many male manipulator songs that fit too perfectly with Mine in this part of his life that I couldn't resist like I'm sorry but creep by radiohead is LITERALLY about him i don't make the rules

Okay but I do find 'Heaven Knowns Im Miserable Now' so funny in this context because I'm sure Mine was forcing himself into the yakuza expecting it to be so much easier to have close connections with these other men compared to his previous 9-5, only to find its almost exactly like his 9-5 just with more crime

'Salvatore' and 'Therefore I Am' are specifically the songs I attach to his bateman-esque grindset and his bubbling hatred for most of the people he works with dsfgf

okay but THE OTHER WOMAN ASWELL. It's literally mine you wouldn't understand. He dedicates so much time to taking care of himself and setting himself up to be an actual catch of a man and yet,, no one gives a shit about him despite all the effort he puts into his lifestyle to appeal to the ppl around him

LIKE??? Kicking and screaming he's so lana del ray coded

Just the sheer depression of this era i feel so bad for him

Yandere-mode activated (Can't Get You Out of My Head - The Killing Moon)

Self explanatory however actually finding songs that pertain to his specific brand of obsession was surprisingly difficult sfdsf

Although I will say that I cope and seethe at the fact that I had to sift through Killing Stalking playlists to settle on most of these songs gfdgsf

Theres such a delicate balance between the right amount of fluff and insanity that very few songs capture without being about literal stalking

like no in this case the stalker fucking won

that and vibes of idolizing Daigo like a god, I think 'Out of Touch' and 'Stolen Dance' do this the best

And freak because I can only imagine in all of Mine's relationships it's always been purely transactional and no ones ever put in the effort to actually talk and get to know Mine in any intimate form.

FEELINGS TM (Romantic Homicide - How to Dissapear)

THIS SECTION I FEEL GREATLY ABOUT

These songs to me are all about how Mine copes with Daigo's hospitalisation and when he wakes up. His whole internal battle surrounding his premature grief and his loss of connection with Daigo because could no longer see him as a truly living thing anymore

'Change' specifically hits when you think about it in this context. Because it's not so much about any real change in Daigo himself it's all about Mine's mental image of him now (because let's be real, Mine was way more in love with the idealised version he had of Daigo more than anything tangible about him)

IFHY is a little more of any iffy choice but I think it still convey's a lot about how conflicted Mine likely felt as well as just continuing his Yandere behaviour just in a much more sinister flavour

Okay but here's where my favourite song of the entire list is

WHITE FLAG BABY

admittedly it's completely self indulgent and ties into the mine-lives theory. But just the guilt and shame Mine felt when he see's that Daigo was indeed alive and that he was going to have to explain the past few weeks to him

yeah i would've thrown myself off that roof as well

also the lyric "I will go down with this ship" paralleling his "everyone abandons ship eventually" line just tickles my brain in the best way

'Door' and 'I Guess' are also just Mine guilt tm as well

'I guess' even more specifically because he's literally attached himself to daigo like a parasite and now he's thinking daigo's gonna break up with him I just AUGH

He KNOWS he's completely fucked up but I don't think he realises how much of a pushover Daigo is just yet and that he would have forgiven him eventually gjfdg

I'll probably update this with more notes as I remember them but for now I hope y'all enjoy the playlist!

I have so many emotions

OHhh my god

Chip and Gill arguing auaghhhh

And then the adorable fight where they made up at the end

Jay pretty much directly telling Gill not to kill himself

Jazz being There i Guess

Chip unleashing his power and getting his flame tattoos

The mutual final attacks between Gill and Chip where they hit each other with their finishing blow at the same time

The parallels between The Chip On My Shoulder, with the direct contrast between how petulant and angry Chip acts in that episode versus how honest and emotionally direct and responsible he is in this episode

How amazingly far Chip has come and how willing he is to express his love for the people around him

Gill being down on himself and losing confidence

Omg

Amazing episode

Insane amount of character development to pack into a single episode but so excellently done and satisfying, I couldn't ask for anything more. It feels like eating the most delicious, perfectly filling and satisfying meal. Perfection.

The GB. The way they've infiltrated the town right under everyone's noses. Oh goddddddddddddddddd I am so FULL of dread. And then to introduce them through Martyn AND JIMMY AHHHH I KNEW IT AND also introduce the listeners in that way??? I am vibrating.

I have so many thoughts about Martyn, Grian, and Jimmy I'm. MMMMMMMM. The self-hatred of the fact that they blame themselves for Grian's disappearance where in reality they would have probably been taken too. Listening to the two of them be so full of guilt when Scar and Mumbo are feeling guilty for doing all of this behind Grian's back [THE PARALLELS]. The fact that Scott and Ren are also involved to varying degrees is driving me insane too like. Ren is mostly here because Martyn knows a lot but Scott is here because HE knows a lot and that being mirrored across the table onto Scar and Mumbo who have the closest connection to the watchers but the least amount of info IM

GOD 'You aren't genuine. No one ever is' AND NOW NO ONE CAN BE SURE IF GRIAN IS, INCLUDING GRIAN HIMSELF IM GONNA GO MAD. The way we're connecting back to something at the beginning of the story i am CHOMPING at the BIT

And I KNEW the second we saw Grian by himself nothing good was gonna be happening. This is why I sent 'biting you' btw. This whole scene with helen made the hair on the back of neck stand up. The way it has even Grian himself doubting himself is INSANE. AUGH. g o d I hope I can write like this some day.

And then to have him go home and Scar and Mumbo just got back from a meeting where they defended Grian and swore he couldn't possibly be WORKING with the watchers and he only JUST got pearl back and now NO ONE can know if Grian is actually working with them AND! AND!!!! THERE'S ALSO THE CHANCE THAT THEY'VE DONE THE SAME THING TO PEARL AGGGGGH. I am SCREAMING. GOD.

RIGHT SO. THE FRAME & CANVAS METAPHOR — I had so much fun writing that, esp because it works so well as a metaphor??? scar has just enough information for this bare bones skeleton of a theory. he doesn’t have all of the pieces together, but he’s trying so hard to create an image with the things he’s got (which isn’t a lot). so boom. the perfect metaphor <3

and ehehe, it was so funny seeing people freaking out over the folder — esp when I knew from the start what was going to be inside it :>

GOD MARTYN AND JIMMY. THEY. OKAY??? THEY MAKE ME SOOOOOOO. they knew the old grian. they’re the last pieces of grian’s past. they’ve been through fucking hell. they feel guilty. martyn even more so. he’s the oldest of the trio. he feels like he failed grian, as well as jimmy.

martyn looks at himself as the older brother. and yet he failed to protect both grian and jim. he feels like it’s his fault he and jimmy ended up with the listeners. and so when martyn spoke about them… it wasn’t just guilt for grian he was feeling.

and then enter ren and scott and… oof. scott was absolutely involved because he has information, but also he was there to be a rock for jimmy. as for ren… ren’s been involved since the very beginning. see, when the cops busted the listeners, jimmy had a family to come home to (lizzie). but martyn? he had no one.

the night the listeners were broken up, martyn found himself at a restaurant. and the owner of that restaurant became his world.

but it drives me insane, how close scar and mumbo are to the watchers because of their connection to grian. and yet… they know next to nothing. it’s almost kind of fun though. because you as the reader get to connect the pieces alongside them :>

as for that scene with grian, MAN was that a blast to write :D stel and I have had that one planned since like. June lmao. it was literally written in my notes “grian gets gaslit” but so!! that whole exchange took a bit of work to hit the way I wanted it to, esp with grian doubting himself as well. but that’s the thing about memories, yeah?

enough time goes by and well… the details start to seem a bit hazy :)

but that ending… I almost didn’t write it. I almost ended the one shot with helen’s little “we’ve got work to do” line. but then I thought against it and threw in that little thing at the end there.

so you get this like… almost tender moment between the three of them as their whole world starts to come crashing down around them.

anyways yeah !!! this one was a ton of fun to write :3 it was definitely a long time coming, and I hope the answers satisfied a lot of questions that crime enjoyers have had since the start <3

random thoughts about tell me that you love me, episode fifteen

(the rest is under the cut because i'm worried about your eyes having to read ALL OF THAT and this post might contain spoilers)

It's interesting to see the parallel between mo eun and seo kyung during her uni days. Both women feel lonely. It can feel isolating to not be able to do things "normal" couples do. For mo eun, I think she's twice as isolated because it's her first time dating someone deaf, but also she can't help but compare herself to seo kyung. Seo kyung, jin woo's first love. The woman who was able to live mo eun's dream first (hearing jin woo talk). The woman who can communicate almost perfectly with jin woo. Throughout the drama, whenever mo eun was having a difficult time in their relationship, I don't think she has spoken her feelings thoroughly. She always started with a sentence and got cut either by jin woo promising her to do better or by her lack of knowledge in sign language. You could see her give up saying something because she didn't know how to say it in sign language. I know they find other means of communication (mainly the notes app on the phone or writing), but it isn't as fluid as two people speaking the same language. So, in retrospect, I can see why mo eun feels lonely. Even her friends and family won't be able to understand what she's going through because they aren't in a relationship with a disabled person. The only person who can relate to what she's living is ki hyun. However, he's jin woo's best friend, not mo eun's. He's lived with a hard of hearing person (jin woo) most of his life. He's been in a relationship with his wife for so many years. He's had the time to "train" how to communicate. He has the experience. So even if mo eun came up to him and asked him for advice, she still wouldn't help but feel like the odd one out. She's starting from zero and the people around her either have no experience with dating a disabled person, or have an insane amount of experience. There's no in between. And he's a man. They're living similar relationships but from a different point of view.

It's beena while since we last saw mo dam and I was feeling good about it. I'm sorry but he irks me. He's always been judgemental about jin woo. I understand knowing that his sister is sad and being worried about her. Somehow, he does sound fake when worrying about her. It's like he's almost waiting for them to break up and it doesn't sit right with me. From what we've seen in the drama, mo dam hasn't been a great brother to mo eun, always siding with his parents, judging jin woo because of his disability. I'm just not a big fan of him is all.

Mo eun talking about the evolution of their relationship must hit jin woo deeper now that he knows seo kyung broke up with him because she was tired but used his disability against him. That said, it's nice to finally see mo eun express clearly how she feels in the relationship. It might be just me but it felt like she held back for so long. Mo eun and jin woo are facing the biggest obstacle in their relationship so far. It felt like they've been drifting away for a few episodes now. They don't communicate as often and it seems they're both living in different worlds. It's true that in the beginning everything was roses and rainbows, it's the excitement of a new relationship. But now that they know more about each other, it's getting harder and harder to stay together. Like I've mentioned a million times before, mo eun has never been in a relationship with a disabled person so she might have convinced herself she was willing to go past the hurdles that come their way. But time might have proven her wrong because she couldn't predict what the relationship entails. I do hope they end up together but I could also understand if they don't in the end.

Okay so they have reconciled it seems and they're spending time together doing domestic things. I don't want to jump to conclusions but I'm a sucker for romance and happy endings. I'm rooting for them!............... And right when I'm writing that, they distance themselves even more and jin woo breaks up with her </3 Can't we have nice things?

I'm heartbroken. This was one of the most emotional breakups I've seen in kdrama history. It's unfair! I really wanted them to stay in a relationship. I think seo kyung's revelation has triggered jin woo. He's resented himself for years after the fire. He's still resenting himself. He's told seo kyung he'll never be able to love someone as much as her because the jin woo from their uni days loved with no fear, he was carefree. But after what happened, he was traumatised. As a result, he built a wall around him because he knew nobody would love him in his entirety. He knew his disability would have consequences one way or another. That's why when he met mo eun, he was shy. He knew how things would end if he decided to be in a relationship with her. Things turned sour with seo kyung, someone who has had experience with jin woo's disability. So he can only imagine how things might end up with someone who has no experience. He chose to break up because they've slowly drifted apart. The excitement and giddiness from the beginning fizzled out and all that was left was a lot of miscommunication and bottled up feelings. He understood how mo eun felt because that's what he's experienced with seo kyung long ago. Things end up the same so why bother staying in a relationship when he knows the other person is suffering?

I like how he took the time to thank mo eun for her efforts. For showing him how it feels to be loved after all this time resenting himself.

This episode made me sad so 7/10

So in my fandom career, one of the first stages of commitment to a ship is dedicating a music playlist to them. As you may have guessed, Sukka is no exception.

Out of all the playlists I've made, Sukka's was definitely the most fun to make, as they are just so aesthetically pleasing. 🤧

I have 11 songs total and I recommend copying the songs and insert them into a playlist on whatever music service you use.

Good Times ~All Time Low

Desert Moon ~ Mena Massoud & Naomi Scott

So the graphics I vision for this song are sorta based around Book 3 Sukka. I headcanon that Sokka would look up to Yue for reassurance when feeling lost, such as when Suki was imprisoned and he had no idea where she was. Also, post-Book 3 when they are in their long distance relationship, I know they would miss each other like crazy. Something I see comforting them is the fact that they see the same moon.

White Horse ~ Taylor Swift

Now we all know Suki is our resident independent- badass- queen who doesn't need anyone to look out for her, especially a man. I thought that this song was a good parallel to when she was fed up with Sokka's sexist bs in "The Warriors of Kyoshi". Like I can imagine her having to hear this from so many people around her growing up, and to hear it from someone she showed interest in must be disappointing. Not a super happy rec, but a necessary one nonetheless.

Even When/ The Best Part ~ Olivia Rodrigo & Joshua Basset

So oddly enough, I actually find enjoyment in 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series'. But in the scene, the main couple sang this to each other when they couldn't be together for Valentine's day, and when I first heard it, my head immediately went to Sokka and Suki. Seeing that they had a long distance relationship for a decent amount of time and have many individual responsibilities, they are bound to miss some holidays and events. But even through that, they know they are the most important parts of each others lives.

Like I'm Gonna Lose You ~ Meghan Trainor & John Legend

I really love this song for them because after losing Yue, Sokka came to appreciate time, and didn't want to waste a moment with Suki. He realized that death can be sudden and real, which was why he was so protective of Suki during 'The Serpent's Pass'.

If I Can't Be With You ~ R5

I thought this song fit really well, and this lyric in particular reminds me of the failed escape attempt in 'The Boiling Rock Pt. 1'. Suki was willing to give up the concept of freedom if it meant staying to wait for Hakoda with Sokka.

Thinking Out Loud ~ Ed Sheeran

I thought this would be a good choice because as we see in the show, Suki will humor Sokka's jokes every once in a while versus just brushing them off. I can also see her being like "Hmm, you're an idiot, but I love it. I'm keeping you."

Gotta Find You ~ Joe Jonas

Lift Me Up ~ The Afters

So I really love this song and feel that it could be used for literally any atla ship or even atla as a whole, due to the theme and aesthetic (might mess around and make an edit😏). One of my favorite things about Sukka is how supportive they are of each other, and how easily they make each other happy. They've seen each other at low points, they've been on death row, but through that they were still there cheering each other on.

Lucky ~ Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

I think this pretty much sums up their time together during 'The Serpent's Pass'. They were apart for so long-and with the war, had no reason to really believe they'd see each other again. But then by chance they were brought together again, revealed their feelings, only to have to split up again. But through that, they didn't let the distance bother them, as they stayed committed to each other.

Well, we all know they're hopelessly in love, but I feel like this highlights one of the most important aspects of them; no matter how long or far apart they are, they always come running home to each other.

I don't have much to say about the rest of the S3 lessons, but I do have things to say about S4 of Obey Me.

Personally, I think that S4 should focus primarily on the angels (Simeon, Luke, Michael, Raphael, etc.), feature the side characters (Solomon, Barbatos, Diavolo), possibly introduce Solomon's first apprentice and maybe in Hard Mode you can check up on the brothers (you should know who the HOL brothers are).

I have a few reasons for this (in no real order :):

Reading the lesson summaries that you (and others) have provided, it seems like Mike and Raph- along with the Celestial Realm- will be important this season. So, wouldn't be a waste not to show them off?

The side characters need development. This is a perfect opportunity for some.

Simeon and Luke were standing for a longer period than the brothers, so it would make sense for them to show up again.

Simeon was talking to some angel (probably Raphael) at the end of S3. The game should obviously expand on that.

*Diavolo runs a hotel chain in the Human World, so it would make sense to see him again. And because Barbatos follows right behind him...

Solomon's first apprentice needs to be explored. What happened between them?

*The brothers should take a back seat in this season, since they're always there. No offense to them, but I need a break.

New character interactions is would be fun. To me, the best character interaction would be between Dia & Mike. Would they hate each other because of Lucifer? Would they get along? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

It could show off/expand upon the Celestial Realm, a chance for more lore and theories.

It could finally give insight into Simeon's past- which is always a good thing. (Same for everyone else.)

Now that the list is out of the way, here are some miscellaneous things that I couldn't fit on the list (also an clarification for 5 & 7. They explanations will also have an asterix at the beginning of them:):

*I don't expect Diavolo and Barbatos to show up that often, but I think that they should appear in at least 1-2 chapters.

*I also don't mind the brothers showing up, but I am worried that if they appear prominently, they might over take the season.

I kinda want the Lillith plotline/point to come back. I definitely wish it was executed better, but I do want to see the reaction from the angels (Mike and Raph basically).

I hope Solomon's apprentice was a girl. There's just too many guys here, we need a little diversity.

I would hate it if they didn't give us character designs for Michael and Raphael, though I would find it funny.

Well, I think I'm done for now. Do you agree, disagree? Do you like the color coding, should I keep doing it? Basically, I just want your thoughts on this.

Lesson 42 Anon

Hii!!! I basically agree with everything you just said but I'll go into more detail on it with your points:

- I do 100% believe S4 should be a new character/angel focused season. I think I said so in the lesson 60 summary too that it'd make sense and be interesting to meet the angels and get their side of the story without the brothers' interference (the angels give me HEAVY morally grey characters who think they're wholly in the right vibes and I love it) + there's still a lot of Simeon and Solomon backstory to explore!

- The way S3 ended and how much of it was anyway about the angels I definitely think S4 will expand on it and introduce them

- And I think it'll possibly start right after S3 ends? I mean Raphael's here now and Solomon wants to start properly training MC so why not. And there's no other reason to leave Simeon and Luke behind than to start it up with them in the centre

- ALSO!!! ANDISJSHSKS "RAPH" given what they've showed of him he seems like the type of person to take HEAVY offense to that

- S3 did end with Raphael. Simeon called him by name.

- As much as I do want to see more Diavolo and find out more about his and more importantly Barbatos' backstories I don't think they'll turn up much? Or at least not until the last few lessons cause he left saying he had important personal issues to take care of back in the devildom

- I genuinely thought they would be shown in S3 after Solomon mentioned them and yeah damn I wanna know more about them. Also I just saw the Solomon UR+ animation card from months ago today - I definitely want to know whose grave he was leaving flowers at

- As much as I want an angel focused season the amount of withdrawal I'd go through without the brothers is insane. I'm heavily invested in them but at least for now their arcs are at a place that can be paused - they all got together to help Beel, a lot of Satan & Lucifer's + Belphie & Diavolo's issues have been resolved. I do want to know more about Lucifer's fear though and how he met the rest of the brothers (since they already told us Beel's story)

- With what they've said I kinda see Michael & Raphael being parallels to Diavolo & Lucifer, respectively. The somewhat childish boss and the long suffering right hand. I can see Diavolo wanting to like Michael purely because he wants to make proper peace with the Celestial Realm but also being somewhat internally pissed with him given how protective Diavolo is of the brothers and I can see Michael being sweet and friendly in return despite the fact that given everything Michael has said about demons, even in current times, he would probably be looking down on Diavolo for being 'wicked' and 'evil'. - Yes!!! Like I said the Celestial Realm gives heavy morally grey vibes and I want that to be explored more. I also need Luke's realisation that the Celestial Realm isn't always right to continue

- I have SO many Lilith HCs and I desperately need them to talk about her more. Like I understand why she's a sore topic and that Lucifer never even told them about her room in the HoL depite the fact that they've probably lived there for thousands of years and she does get brought up a bit in Belphie's fear but I need more. I also want them to explore why Belphie was so insistent with blaming the humans for Lilith's death when it was the angels that killed her, I gave my theories behind it in one of the summaries but I really need more solid answers

- I've always wanted more girls (or any girls really) and the way I was disappointed that we never got to see Lilith (I mean I understand that some players would HC her to look like their MC even though she died thousands of years before MC and they probably wouldn't share a resemblance but still) but I never considered Solomon's apprentice was a girl and I dunno why.. OKAY BUT CONSIDER GIRLS AS NEW LIS!!!!!

- I definitely think they would, it would make no sense if they didn't after how much they were hyped up and I might actually scream if they don't get designs. That being said I have very clear ideas of them in my head and I'm gonna hate having to part with them
