Ok I apologize for the HSR spam but I’m legit upset that I couldn’t even get Gallagher at all despite being a 4 star unit, who are pretty easy to get in limited banners alongside the 5 star character.
….Then again, I shouldn’t have blown off my 8K Stellar Jades on a Standard banner out of boredom….
Tumblr media
Off-topic but I’m probably going to play the 2.1 Trailblaze Quest soon so not only can I get more Stellar Jades but also access the Preservation 2.0 Trace Materials for Aventurine and Ascension Materials for Gallagher.

Thank fucking God.
(Karen was there merely to debuff special attack, to help with everyone's survival. Adding her into the team was suggested by a Pokemas player on twitter)

Oh my god so you know the gamecorner? The location you skip in like every Pokemon game because RNG will fuck you over and you could use that time doing fun things instead? Yeah guess who in their infinite wisdom didn’t figure to check it out until now lol which is a bit of a shame because there’s actually stuff here strangely enough. Again most NPCs have nothing constructive to say but there's actual background music and the prize counter gave me the usual menu for the prize Pokemon except there’s only one Pokemon in the list. And it costs a fortune
Tumblr media
Idk if the question marks are referring to a glitch Pokemon or are just meant to cover up what the actual Pokemon they’re offering is (or if that’s a Pokemon at all), but I kinda wanna get it since it’s probably the only Pokemon this game’s offering me at all. The problem is that I don’t have a coin case and the underground is still non-existent/off-limits so idk where to get it from. I went and asked Suicune about it because why not, and it gave me like a vaguely threatening answer:

Here's hoping it’ll rig the machines or something for me??

hey friends i've fully completed both pokemon stadium games released in the west (R1 and R2), so in honor of pokemon stadium coming to switch, here's some advice!
don't bother! like literally don't play it! lol
i have a few reasons to say this
you must only use rentals in this version of the game since you can't import pokemon. already we've basically lost the entire fucking point of pokemon stadium, but anyway rentals only is just not that fun! either you look up the best teams to use and then the entire game is dice rolls, or you come up with your own team and have even more dice rolls. my point is that either way you're both restricted by being forced to use RNG-heavy moves with low accuracy and shoved into situations where the rental pokemon are intentionally underpowered
the RNG is literally rigged. this has been proven various times on stream, the opponent decides what it will do after you do so it can always react to your choice of attack or move. this is how it always worked in gen 1 but it's really annoying in pokemon stadium because
all the battles are so slow! so goddamn slow! no way to turn off move animations you just have to deal with these extremely slow battles the entire game! so if you lose in the final battle to some complete nonsense RNG then get fucked moron you just lost two hours of your life for nothing, actually nothing
they LOVE putting moves like confuse ray and thunder wave on your opponent's pokemon so the RNG can fuck you over even harder. again you will lose several hours of your life, probably multiple times, to being parahaxed 5 turns in a row. if you play this game at least know your time IS being wasted and you WILL waste your time playing it
pokemon stadium games were very much at their best when they're used as companion games to your gen 1 and 2 games. quick & easy pc and item management, convenient trading, seeing your pokemons in 3d and preparing your own personally designed team to tackle the game's (kinda bullshit) challenges. all of that is just completely lost in this version. you're basically roleplaying me as a 5 year old when i didn't have a transfer pak
in summary, the stadium games are amazing... but as companion games NOT as standalone experiences where you play using rentals. i genuinely would recommend... you just don't bother! just don't play it! it's a waste of time. thank you for reading

More relic-talking that somehow ended up making me able to convey an underrated part on why Apocalypse's design earns it so much replayability even on the character driven aspect:
Tumblr media
So yeah after almost a year I'm still saving screenshots of content I haven't seen before. Even after playing this game five times (3 on citra) I sure wasn't ready for the amount of material I was proposing myself to gather. it's so much
Something I didn't consider before but now it all comes together to me for another part of why it can be so extremely rare to see even half of all the existing text from your SMTIVA partners in the overworld is because aside RNG, some characters will only react positively to specific types of relics.
This is not the full extent of what they can react to but I wanted to highlight some of their preferences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice the differences between what makes one interested in what they see. In contrast, they don't have this exclusivity when commenting about your attires or the food you choose to eat (although those were still a pain to trigger nonetheless since you have to go out of your way and repeat and repeat until they show up as well).
I tried to extract excited responses and depending on the location some partners wouldn't say anything specific to what we found no matter how many times I'd reset and collect it again. And mind you, I was retrying this for several minutes and even through different approaches in case I could manipulate the RNG to make it less rigged.
Wait, less rigged you say? So... it seems silly but as someone that has played a lot of SMT on emulators, each game has a different RNG rate. For example: if I died on a battle or made an enemy mad and rewind to 2 seconds before, in some games you are able to see something different happening while others will repeat the same outcome no matter how many times you retry going back to these same 2 seconds (which means you'd have to go back to before the turn or even the start of the battle to get a chance for a different outcome). So yeah, this logic also applies for some of the chances of seeing a quote of a SMTIVA partner in whatever context you currently are.
I already commented about this before but I really gotta put emphasis on it: the SMT4 duology is beyond question the most time-consuming mainline to document everything about it because not only there is an absolute massive amount of text, several parts of it are only possible to see in very specific instances, like 1)
how low your level is
how low your stats are
how many relics you have
what partner you have
in what part of the game you are
in what route you are
whether you're doing everything properly or just fucking around
how much of an asshole you have been (Toki and Isabeau are the ones out of my head that irreversibly change certain lines)
and you also gotta include 2) there's only a CHANCE for some showing up. Demon negotiations are the most well-known example of this but in SMTIVA they go beyond and also add these to your partners. Even with me specifically going out of my way to trigger them, they can take so many attempts to see! From this perspective, SMTIVA has the most awarding postgame since a normal player would very hardly dry up of different content to see.

how, out of hundreds of entrants, do nearly ALL the mods and big pop artists always manage to win shit in gremcorp raffles?? i've seen junijwi win shit at LEAST 3 separate times in 3 years, one of which was a snowgrem MYO that only 2 people could win?? like honestly, fuck gremcorps, they're absolutely rigging shit
hi, im the anon who accused grem mods of rigging their raffles. wanna note that i DON'T actually believe that and only said it bc i was frustrated over not winning what i was trying to get. tho i do still feel a little weird seeing the same names over an over again winning the raffles, but im willing to admit its just a coincidence that sticks out to me due to a cognitive bias (also mad bc ive never won anything and i def have seen many repeating names across diff raffles, but thats rng for you)

Y’know, I honestly think the reason I have more tolerance than most people for MCU Thanos’s terrible plan after initially wincing at it is...
Solving climate change is hard, and considering how long we’ve had to fuck things up we have pretty much no time to put it right. And maybe this is in part how the media works but it seems like every new bit of information is how much less time we have than we thought.
Given that, there’s something kind of... weirdly soothing about “I dunno, punt. Just fucking... murder half the humans or something.”
It’s not that I think that’s a good idea. It won’t even work unless it actually gets some of the polluters and even then it’ll only work if whoever’s left goes “yeah uh we should shut this down”
And that’s not even touching the generational trauma
And THAT’s not even touching the lengths people would go to to rig the rng, which is why you need a sparkly mcguffin to even try
But as blatantly terrible an idea as it is, sometimes I... honestly wonder if we’ve really got a better one. Or if those of us who have a better idea are going to win against the people who are desperately yelling TELL US WERE NOT DYING.
I don’t know. I think it’s kind of like... you know how if you’re profoundly despairing, suicide starts to seem like a good idea, because at least you have enough control to pull the plug?
It’s like that, I think. There’s part of me that laughs at how obviously terrible it is but there’s part of me that’s like... at least that’s some measure of control over this massive problem whose scale my puny brain can barely comprehend?
And given that, I can pretty easily imagine how like... the one human who was out in space when the last of us at home finally died would land on something like that in his grief.

Like with Dan Heng, I haven’t got around to unlocking his Eidolons but as a 5 star unit, that may require as lot of luck to do it.
And that’s all for my build showcase for my top 2 favs anyways! I’m hoping to build more once I get my hands on Jing Yuan and possibly Welt, Gepard or Sampo (if the RNG wasn’t rigged as fuck).

My gauntlet farming team experience. I had a lot of fun farming with my consistent teams so far, and here they are:
1. Moltres team
Tumblr media
So, this team is ridiculous. Acerola flinch-locking the heck out of Moltres was amazing. That, coupled with Mud-Slap accuracy debuff as well as Acerola and Ingo's Soothing Sand alongside Emmet’s Damage Guard, could make a no-damage Moltres run.
However, missing any Sandstorm timing could lead to Emmet got one shot from 70% health by a sun-boosted Heat Wave. Other times I got unlucky and Moltres decided to burn Emmet and Acerola. In one run, Emmet didn’t finish Moltres’ second health bar in time and/or Acerola got somewhat unlucky with the flinches and the team had to take sync move, Potion needed to be queued on Emmet right after that, then another Potion to Acerola.
This team is still consistent despite the bad lucks I got at other runs that forced me to reset, and Acerola flinching Moltres to get away from Leer and speed debuff at the beginning of the fight is pretty important for gauge management, especially Ingo's trainer move had limited usage. Though if Acerola didn’t land the flinch, it’s okay since Ingo could buff speed while lowering accuracy.
Emmet is truly the guardian of sand.
2. Latias team
Tumblr media
Halloween Caitlin's trainer move boosted accuracy, while it didn't really help Anni N who had Piercing Gaze, it helped Palentine Dawn who constantly debuffed and attacked with good 1-1.3k chip damage. Once Halloween Caitlin ran out of trainer moves to spam, she could also start debuffing Latias' evasion by attacking as well.
Even though Anni N has Piercing Blows, since his sync's multipliers were stat reductions, the debuffs really helped to rack up the sync damage.
Once again, in one run, Anni N decided not to crit any of his three sync nuke at all in +3 crit. Why does everyone in my team hate me...?
3. Uxie Team
Tumblr media
I really like this team. F2P, and could make a super easy clean run. I just realized that at the start of third bar, BP Erika doesn't need to apply Toxic and Trap all at once, just one of them is okay, because Giovanni dealt 11k damage per Shadow Ball even with only Poison/Trap active anyway. That way, Uxie didn't build full resistance at the latter half of third bar, and Giovanni's damage remained consistent.
Keeping Sycamore in full (or 80% health at least) before Uxie's first sync is really, really important. He also needs to have Gradual Healing from his trainer move active, and Horn Leech queued as well. That 592 Iron Tail damage is really, really scary.
There's one run where Sycamore finished the fight with 1.2k Moonblast instead of Giovanni because he just barely made it with his Shadow Ball damage. That was amazing.

Episode 16: Natural Credits
Pose credits: Bossy Pose Pack for Lyra’s reveal. I know there was a pose used for Lyra standing by the mirror, but I can’t find it now; I thought it was Argument again, but the arms are crossed all wrong. Some sitting poses I also can’t remember: Writing again, perhaps? Clover’s HPC 2017 Pose Pack (yes, I’m actually Supporting My Friends for a change).
Read episode from beginning: Here
Tidbits: Thing about the magic mirror’s Admire Me function is, it doesn’t work like one would expect. One ordinarily has to have high charisma to get the Fairest moodlet, otherwise you end up either with no moodlets or an endless stream of Not The Fairests. Therefore, after and before two test runs as proof of concept, I made and implemented a minor mod to cut down the Charisma requirement from 7 to 0 for the good moodlet to show up. That’s the only modification that’s been made to the game WRT this challenge, to make it easier for everybody to get the good moodlet and thus the immunity. The fact that Percy got the moodlet and thus their fourth immunity in a row is irrelevant - that’s just how the RNG of the code rolls. Same with those rejected kisses; believe me, I didn’t know both of them would be rejected, and it took longer than I would’ve liked to work out how to justify Eden Lee doing it. Then again, the only reason I made Lorelei do it in the first place is because I realized a glaring potential problem for Episodes 18 and 20 and she would otherwise have not gotten the opportunity again, which means a desperate rationalization on that front, and then the paranoia that you’re all going to accuse me of rigging it like everyone and their dog did when Laurel started sweeping the ranks increases…
Fuck. I’m starting to understand why so many people start and then quickly give up on these things.
Thank you for your watching, patience, and patronage.
Lorelei’s relationship stats (all immune):
Lavandar: 46.30*
Kira: 41.42* (up from third)
Eden Lee: 39.07 (down from second)
Lyra’s relationship stats:
Felicity: 40.44*
Percy: 38.24
Lilith: 37.58
Cornelia: 28.40
* = Lorelei/Lyra and these Sims are Friends!
Lavandar got only a little boost partly cus friends find it harder to get the same results as before, and partly cus they were sit down. Before their respective kisses, Eden Lee sat at 44.07, and Percy at 41.11; the latter would have been friends with Lyra if not for this. Over dinner, however, Percy managed to get a dinner interaction in with Lyra, and since this is allowed due to previous ones having been allowed if nothing else, they went back up from 36.11 to 38.24. That’s why the discrepancy there.

This game is the most frustrating thing I've had to deal with in recent memory
Tumblr media
I don't think I've ever played a game so rigged in my life.
I mean, sure, "Mario Party With Swords" sounds like a blast at first, but it quickly fell apart as soon as it became obvious that the AI controlled players were cheating - I mean incredibly obvious that the numbers and RNG were being manipulated in their favor.
It's not that there's no way they couldn't have landed on the shop they wanted twice in a row, it's that there's no way that they rolled exactly what crystal ("move a number of spaces without rolling" item) they needed then rolled the exact number of spaces they needed to then use that crystal to get to the shop twice in a row.
But, more importantly, there is no way in fuck that I'm that unlucky. There is absolutely no way that I am so unlucky as to fail to land on the space I want with a 2 in 7 chance 5 times in a row consistently. Or, shortly after, that I would get into a combat scenario that I could definitely win, except that I went second, missed, went second, failed to dodge, and went second a third time, forcing me to forfeit the battle.
For the above combat scenario, it's not that I needed to get absurdly lucky or anything to win. I just needed literally one thing to not go wrong, but somehow, everything went wrong.
I would later play this game again with my 2 brothers and it was a lot more fun that way. But we were definitely not playing the game in an intended way. We probably only had as much fun as we did because we unanimously decided before the game even began to form a truce and gang up on the cheating AI.
It made losing 3 turns upon dying seem like less of a hassle from my perspective at least, but I never died in that match. It at least felt like, because one of us was always making progress, that dying was less of a pain, but my older brother still sited it as "Incredibly frustrating"

A Brief Guide to Farming Resonate Stems and Override Frequencies / Sleeper Nodes without losing your mind (while trying to feel like you’re maximizing your time)
[ DESTINY WARMIND DLC SPOILERS INBOUND ]
To preface, I am not an expert, and this kind of guide has probably been done before. I just like games that provide a sort of mindless grind to participate in every once in a while because, I’ve found, it helps me relax when I’m stressed out. However, this only works if I can create a continuous loop of Things To Do / Be Doing. Once the momentum stops I get bored and need to log off, and often don’t come back for a while.
Destiny 2′s Mars destination provides just enough to create a continuous loop of Things, that should, at the very least, provide enough Resonate Stems to keep popping into Override Frequencies, that you can then seek Sleeper Nodes with. However, because Sleeper Nodes are RNG based, and getting all 40 are subject to that RNG, it’s important to frame this kind of farm/grind in a way that doesn’t feel frustrating, and that doesn’t allow the RNG to fuck up your day.
For anyone unaware, RNG determines the Sleeper Nodes, and in order to “successfully” find all 40, you have to hope you have good RNG when you create your Override Frequencies. The Emblem does NOT count Sleeper Nodes you have already opened.
Tumblr media
For me, farming up a ton of stems and then popping them for Override Frequencies, and only going node after node after node, is both boring, frustrating, and pointlessly time wasting ... because you’re not actually doing anything productive when it’s JUST tagging nodes and nothing else.
And, to be honest, it’s hard to farm anything if you can’t get a good rhythm going. A lot of this is not particularly intuitive, especially if grinding games just aren’t your thing. Hence I offer this guide, to have the sleeper nodes be a natural inclusion in a grind/farm loop, rather than a separate target or destination, to minimize the frustration that bad RNG can bring.
This goes under a cut due to length.
KEEP IN MIND
There are two main maps on Mars that you can fast travel to, and that everything else branches out from:
Braytech Futurescape, and
Glacial Drift
Keep in mind that Mindlab is attached to Futurescape, both the service train tunnel and Dynamo (Approach) connects Futurescape and Drift at different sides of the map (Dynamo is the west end, service tunnel is east), and Descent is attached to Drift.
Once you’re on a map that the Sleeper Node’s Override Frequency directs you to, feel free to do anything in any order, and grab the Sleeper Node whenever is most convenient for you to do so.
The Override Frequencies are fairly straightforward in telling you where to go, as the first word of the three pinpoint locations will tell you the general area. (ie. Futurescape, Drift, Mindlab, Descent, Dynamo) followed by the more specific locations. There are a few in Dynamo that are tricky to find as they’re kind of hidden, but if you’re stuck there are videos on youtube you can find to help.
EDIT:: Also note that Override Frequencies, when created, will never be for the area you are currently in. If you get to the end stretch (35~ ish with 5 left to go) and can remember most of the ones you’ve already gotten, I highly recommend standing in any area you’re SURE you’ve gotten ALL the nodes at least once).
THE LOOP BASICS
Arrive on Mars (if a Public Event is incoming, land on that map first)
If two Supply patrols are available, complete both.
Make sure the Event goes Heroic. If you don’t know how to make them heroic (check further down in the guide and I’ll tell you), or if you’re the only person on the entire map and thus cannot solo the heroic, just complete it and then run the Lost Sector.
You should have enough Resonate Stems to create an Override Frequency. Check the location.
IF THE NODE IS ON THE OTHER CENTRAL MAP:
Take a Survey patrol and go there.
Complete the Survey patrol.
Check for available patrols. If there are Supply patrols available, complete both.
If there are no Events incoming, grab a Combat patrol and either rush or take your time through the area’s Lost Sector. Whatever you prefer.
If there is an Event incoming, grab a Combat patrol for easy completion during the event.
You should now have enough Stems to create an OF, check the location.
IF THE LOCATION IS IN DESCENT:
If you are currently in Futurescape or close by and feel like walking (or fast traveling to Futurescape), grab a Survey patrol and ride to Drift.
If you are anywhere else, or don’t feel like making the trip for Survey, fast travel to Drift.
If a PE is available with a long timer (3min~), caress the flag lovingly for free ammo, grab the Assassination patrol, and descend into Descent.
If the assassination patrol is not available, do the following loop: Supply, Supply, Combat, Public Event (or Lost Sector if PE is not available). By then Assassination should be up.
Complete Assassination, and grab the Node.
IF you did not yet do the Event, fast travel back and catch the PE. Be sure to grab a supply OR a combat patrol for easy completion during the Event, and complete the other two patrols (supply and/or combat).
You now have enough Stems to create an OF, check the location.
IF THE LOCATION IS IN THE MINDLAB:
If you are currently in Drift or close by and feel like walking (or fast traveling to Drift), grab a Survey patrol and ride to Futurescape.
If you are anywhere else, or don’t feel like making the trip for Survey, fast travel to Futurescape.
If a PE is available with a long timer (3min~), caress the flag lovingly for free ammo, grab the Assassination patrol, and ascend into Mindlab.
IF THE LOCATION IS IN DYNAMO:
Take a Combat patrol and ride to Dynamo.
Dynamo has a few Memory Fragments dotted throughout. If you want to hunt for them, do so during your trips to the respective Nodes. If you’ve already found them, or don’t particularly care, you can ignore them.
Sleeper Nodes DO show up during Adventures (AND Strikes / Heroic Strikes, apparently), SO if you wanted an actual goal to follow through with to justify your time in Dynamo, you can activate the one of the following two Adventures to give you a reason to be there:
Hephaestus
Activated in Futurescape
Will take you to the Dynamo Server Room
Incursion
Activated in Drift
Will take you to Dynamo Approach
Dynamo is also great for solo farming kills to unlock Masterwork Perks on Exotic weapons, provided you found any catalyst for any particular exotic. You might want to save farming kills for your forays into Dynamo as you’ll never have any competition inside, unlike the public patrol zones.
WHAT TO PRIORITIZE
1. Public Events first, as they are a pretty fun and exciting activity to do that, if you paired with the right patrol and made Heroic, will easily net you at least 3 stems in a relatively engaging way.
Witches Ritual
needs at least 2 people to make heroic
stand IN THE CIRCLE and kill the witches
one person needs to STAY IN EACH CIRCLE until the barrier around the void crystals fall
destroy the crystals to make heroic
Warsat Recovery
Only stand in the Warsat to increase percentage to specific increments, THEN GET OUT
Kill the 2 Witches and then the Shrieker that spawns/opens at: 25%, 50%, and 75%
If the Warsat gets to 80% it CANNOT BE MADE HEROIC
this is probably the easiest PE to make Heroic solo, because you’re not racing against the time and someone never leaving the damn circle
Injection Rig
Wardcliff Coil will (usually) blow the vents at one hit each
you will know the vent is blown if the metal flap that otherwise protects the vents is open outside of the Evacuation period
the third round of vents rotates opening each Evacuation period. If it doesn’t look open but is NOT blown, then you need to run around the inner circle until you find the open vent to destroy
destroy the vents to make Heroic
2. High-priority targets spawned in the world
Occasionally a small notification will appear at the bottom left of your screen briefly that will alert you to a High Priority target in the area.
Killing the target and looting the chest will net you at least one Resonate Stem, and since they’re out in the world, you’re likely to come across them while doing patrols
3. Lost Sectors
Core Terminus (Futurescape)
Two Memory Fragments are found in here, as well as
terminals with interesting Exo lore
Ma’adim Subterrane (Drift)
Two Memory Fragments are found in here as well
Skipping half of the lost sector is easy, if you can manage to jump from the top of a column to the bridge
Sleeper Nodes can be found in and around this sector, unlike Futurescape’s Core Terminus
4. Chests and Resources
Trust me on this (or maybe not, idk, up to you lmao) but you want the Mars tokens and the Seraphite, as the Mars Engrams have an arguably interesting loot pool (including ghosts, speeders, and a ship)
THE PATROL BASICS
There are two main maps on Mars that you can fast travel to, and that everything else branches out from:
Braytech Futurescape, and
Glacial Drift
On either map, there are a total of 5 possible patrols, with only 3 active at any one time. Completing a patrol, or activating and then abandoning one, will bring another to come up.
1. SUPPLIES are denoted by the following icon:
Tumblr media
You will be asked to gather supplies. Unlike other patrol zones on other planets, Mars does not have separate patrol activation locations to dictate types of gathering---it will always randomly pick between kill-Hive-for-stuff, or kill-Cabal-for-stuff (possibly influenced by the next approaching public event).
2. COMBAT is denoted by the following icon:
Tumblr media
This one is easy: murder. You don’t even need to be the one to do it---just be in close proximity to chaos and it’ll count towards your percentage. Also, keep in mind that this is the ONLY patrol that you can complete in non public patrol zones (aka pretty much anywhere). Every other patrol will require you to either remain on the first map of activation, or can only be completed at a specific target / target location.
3. ASSASSINATIONS are denoted by the following icon:
Tumblr media
You will be asked to kill a High-Priority target spawned for this patrol.
If you are in Futurescape, you will always be tasked to assassinate a target in the Mindlab.
If you are in Drift, you will always be tasked to assassinate a target in the Descent.
Keep that in mind for Override Frequencies that ask you to visit either location.
4. SURVEYS are denoted by the following icon:
Tumblr media
Surveys will always take you to the central map you are not on.
So, say you’re in Futurescape and activate a Survey, it will ask you to visit a specific location to “survey” in -> Glacial Drift.
If you’re in Glacial Drift, it will ask you to visit -> Braytech Futurescape.
Keep in mind that you will not be able to fast travel while these are active, you will have to take your speeder and go.
IN CONCLUSION
Dynamo is often the area where the loop is weakest, because there are rarely if ever any reason to actually go INTO Dynamo, no patrols will want you to go there (though you can complete Combat patrols inside that area, so you may want to save Combat patrols for Dynamo), and adventures only go to two specific areas, while sleeper nodes are dotted throughout Dynamo.
Aside from that, once you get a rhythm going for everything else, it’ll be hard to stop (especially if you’re used to mindless farming / node hunting and don’t need Rasputin’s music to help you, putting on your favorite playlist or designing one around this can make the time fly by).
Whether or not you want to participate in Escalation Protocol is entirely up to you. I don’t normally do, but if I see at least 2 other people doing it, sometimes I will join in --- especially if i need to farm kills for an Exotic, farm Hive kills for the planetary challenge, or if the Supply patrols are fulfilled by Hive.
Anyway. Good luck using this farm/grind rhythm guide to help you procrastinate instead of doing other, way more important things you probably should actually be doing. Also best of luck on the sleeper node hunt, and the memory fragment hunt.

Tris' Top 5 of 2021... Kinda?
Every year I do a top and bottom 5 video games that I've played for the first time that year, but let's be real, 2021 was what we will politely call a shitshow. So this year I'm just shoving up the five games I played that actually stuck in my memory!
The Outer Worlds - Switch Port with DLC
I normally only talk about games that I've played for the first time in the year, but if you think for a moment I'd miss the chance to check out the port to my favourite console then you don't know me very well! It's not often a game of TOW's visual and gameplay quality makes the jump to Switch without suffering, but honestly if anything I've found it runs better and looks just as amazing! (Note: I don't play many Switch games on tv because I am a tiny nerd on the disability and my TV is barely even okay level, so I'm sure there are people who differ.) The DLC adds more to the story and vibrant capitalist hellscape that is the Halcyon Colony, without being overwhelming with new lore or taking over from the main quest. TOW continues to be a bloody good game well worth playing and replaying.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire - PS4 Port with All DLC
A game that builds nicely off the lore and story of the original while not being completely impenetrable to newcomers. The gameplay improvements are just amazing, and start from the moment you start a new game and discover the Turn Based mode! Sadly the main quest is vastly shorter than the original and you can easily blast through the core of the story in short order. And the load times are atrocious! Hopefully the eventual third game in the series will be better in that respect...
Minecraft - Switch Port
I've been trying not to get hooked on this game for LITERAL years. I have failed. It's goddamn amazing and one day my mountain castle will be filled with villagers and minibuilds.
Tharsis - Switch
Fuck this game. There's a difference between a difficulty curve and the RNG being rigged to absolutely fucking crucify you. I came for a weird space experience, not a Dark Souls-esque crushing of my soul!
Pokemon Shining Pearl - Switch
I'm so disappointed, you guys. I came into the games with Sinnoh after years of being hooked on the anime and movies, and I was SO EXCITED to have a remake of my original region! But it sucks! It was farmed out to another company so GameFreak could focus on Legends: Arceus and it shows. Even taking into account the dip in quality between SuMo and SwSh, this was unacceptably pathetic. The only promised improvement that was actually an improvement was the new Underground, but one big neat thing does not compensate for an entire game's worth of unfulfilled promises and soulless retreading of old ground. And this is coming from someone who LIKES the chibis!

So I was planning to just wait until the big end of summer banner in GBF to spark, but then they decided to put Summer Mimlemel and Kumbhira on rate-up in this banner, so one thing lead to another and now I’ve sparked on this banner instead and I have to hope I don’t regret it too much, lol.
TL;DR: if water’s first grand in over 1000 days ended up being the boss from an event that came out like six years ago would that be fucked up or what
On top of the fact that Mim and Kumbhira are the summer units i’ve been wanting the most [and this would be the last chance to get Mim until like the next annitix or something], and the fact that fire GW is coming up next month, this was an extremely tempting banner for me because basically all the tools to set up an agni grid have been falling into my lap recently, so I figured it’d be a good idea to just keep leaning into that.
Like, I got four Ixabas in my Nehan spark, I have a Rein fist and one or two copies of Benedia, I have two Agnis, and one Wilnas. So in terms of grid pieces and stuff I have basically everything I need to set up a good Agni grid, and I have a huge amount of good flame units, with Mim and Kumbhira being some of the main ones I was missing. I don’t have Alanaan, Fraux, or Tien yet, but they’re a whole different story.
Anyway, long story short, here’s what I got:
-Summer Mim [three times, lmao]
-Grand Poseidon [I’m honestly not even sure how much use I’ll get out of him but it’s nice to have him, lol]
-Yukata Yuisis
-Summer Farrah
-Summer Lowain
-Summer Ippatsu
-SR Jeanne
-Water Yuel
Then I sparked Summer Kumbhira.
Also I got Yukata Yngwie from the recent summer star premium, and SSR Therese from the PG ticket we got from the new summer missions.
So at the very least I got the two main units I wanted, and the new grand, but I was kinda hoping against hope that I’d get both of them during the spark so I could go for Grand Narmaya instead to prepare for wind GW. Oh well, lol. Even if I had waited to spark until the end of the month, it probably would have been even more likely that I’d have had to spark for Kumbhira or another new summer unit instead of her anyway, I guess.
I’m also a little sad I missed out on Summer Meg, but I have enough good dark units that it’s not a huge deal, and all of the other new summer units that I don’t have by now don’t interest me much. I know we’re gonna get one more batch of summer units this month, which is part of why I was scared to spark here, but ultimately I think the ability to get Mim from this banner outweighed the possibility of those unknown units being worth saving for.
At least I avoided the worst case scenario of getting neither of my two targets during my summons, lmao. I’m not entirely sure who I would have prioritized sparking in that case.
Anyway I guess now my plan with my next spark is to just start hoarding for the end of the year. We should get roulette during the gala banner that introduces the next zodiac, so that’d be a good time to spark, especially if I want another chance to spark Grand Narmaya. I’ve exhausted most of my farmable crystals and tickets at this point, but there’d be like five months between now and then, so surely that’d be enough to save up enough to spark, especially since we should get roulette over new years, lol.
In the slim chance that I actually get one of the Tier 2 or 3 prizes from the summer lottery event thing, I might end up using that to get Grand Narmaya. Assuming that you actually get to choose which reward you want, Tier 2 includes a free spark worth of crystals, and Tier 3 includes all the grand weapons, so I could either just do a spark at the end of this month [or a later month before wind GW I guess] to spark Grand Narmaya, or I could just directly trade for her, depending on what I win. I know Tier 3 also includes Belial which would probably be a way better choice, but it’d be really hard to motivate myself to choose a summon over a grand character, lol. But on the other hand if I somehow get a Tier 1 reward and get the Sierotix from that, I’d probably just use that on Belial.
Either way I’m not actually expecting to get any of those rewards in the first place since the chances of getting winning tickets for them seems pretty low on paper, but honestly I just have a lot of questions about how the heck this entire event works. Like, one thing that seems kinda odd to me is that the rule about the tickets being rigged so you get at least one ticket for every ending digit from 0-9 seems to imply that the chances of getting a Tier 2 prize is actually around 10%, unlike how the Tier 3 prize is still probably a 1% chance since the first two digits on each digit are pure RNG, which sounds kinda strange and backwards. I think it’d also imply that Tier 1 would be a 1% chance, rather than a 0.1% chance, since one of the digits would already be there no matter what. It also seems like, outside of the more or less guaranteed Tier 4 winning ticket everyone should get, the other ones would have the same 10% chance as the Tier 2 winning tickets, since they both effectively just boil down to one digit being correct.
In general it just seems like a kinda bizarre and overly complicated event with weirdly skewed probabilities, considering the sorts of prizes each tier contains.
Mostly it just bugs me that last year everyone got a guaranteed 30k crystals from treasure rush, but it seems like the only guarantee with this event is that everyone will get a Tier 4 prize, but the only worthwhile items in that tier are like . . . two gold moons or a few damascus crystals, lol. The upper ceiling on the rewards you can potentially get from the event is pretty crazy, with stuff like the 100k crystals, the Sierotix, the unticketable summons, and even the uncapped gold moon weapons, but those all seem to be pure RNG.
Part of me’s hoping that maybe in the summer stream they’ll announce that everyone will also get a guaranteed Tier 3 prize as well, but I kinda doubt we’d get two layers of guaranteed rewards like that. And I kinda doubt that they’d effectively give everyone a free Belial.
I’m also still super unclear about how the winning numbers system works, and how many of them we’ll actually get. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
So anyway I guess I have basically all the tools I need to set up a good Agni grid. To recap, before this banner I had 4 Ixabas, one Rein fist, one or two Benedias, two copies of Agni, and one Wilnas. I also have some other random fire gacha weapons that might be worth using in certain situations, and now I have a copy of Kumbhira’s spear. I also have three copies of Mim’s weapon now, but I don’t know if it’s worth using.
I don’t have Alanaan, Fraux, or Tien yet, so that’s kinda awkward, but I still have a lot of good flame characters. In particular I have Athena and Christmas Nemone, which was a big reason why I’ve been wanting to get Summer Kumbhira since she came out. I also have Metera [and now Therese] who can fill out an auto-attack team comp once I get Alanaan. And other than that I have some generally good flame units like Siegfried, Yuisis, Zeta, and Yuel.
Even without Alanaan, I think Mim will still be pretty useful, especially for stuff like OTK in fire GW. And if I still can’t do a 2-button OTK by that point, Summer Kumbhira’s third skill seems very useful for OTK.
In terms of OTK, I suppose at this point I have the option of suptixing Shion when I next get a chance, since I can set up an Ixaba grid, and I have all of the main fire katana units I’d need to make her work. I feel like it’d probably be a waste to use a suptix on her at this point when I can presumably set up a fine OTK team as it is, though. I also really want to get Vane from the next suptix instead, lol. And in terms of fire suptix options, Michael is also kinda tempting since I don’t have her yet.
I’m kinda curious to see how much of an impact setting up an Agni grid has on my flame team’s damage at this point. I imagine it’d be pretty big, since right now I’m using a super basic M1 flame grid. I think at the moment I only have enough bars to uncap three Ixabas, but we’ll see how that goes.
So yeah I think this went pretty well. Better than my last spark in Dragalia Lost, at least, lmao.
EDIT: Since I don’t wanna make another whole post about this, I did the new fire/dark star premium, which ended up weirdly similar to my last one, since even though the actual guaranteed SSR I got was Veight, I randomly got a Summer Kumbhira dupe during the bonus tenfold, and I was trying to get a dupe of her weapon from this in the first place so I’d have two, lol. Since I just got it from the normal gacha part it’s not fully uncapped like the guaranteed one would be, but oh well.
