And one they take seriously too! This person is a serious threat and nobody even mentions that they have a lazy eye(at least not in a way meant to be an insult)

DUNGEON MESHI is a manga about a team of adventurers who travel back into a dungeon to rescue the party leaders little sister from the stomach of a dragon, and due to time and cost have to survive off the flora and fauna they can find within. my summary sounds boring as fuck and does NOT do it justice but trust me when i say its one of the most earthshattering manga ive ever read. beautiful worldbuilding, detailed monster biology, and thoughtful unique character design (ryoko kui has shown a lot of the like exercises/experiments she does to make sure her character designs are solid and its so cool). not even mentioning the food like oh my god I NEED to have what they're having. and every single character is unique and interesting and awesome not just in design but in personality. it's funny, it's beautiful, read it and go crazy forever

read the manga - the anime is great in many ways and the music and voice acting add to the immersion but frankly Ryoko Kui's artwork and panelling is so intricate that some details from the manga would require an insane budget and effort to animate, it's that much of an artistic-visual masterpiece of storytelling that the anime cannot match it

do you have any favorite artists? maybe ones you take inspiration from or really look up to?

i’m supposed to be getting ready to head out in a bit but YOU!!! YOUU!!!!!!!!! PURPOSEFULLY TRAPPING ME!!!!! anyway omg i have a list of the artists i really like on my listography but its not up-to-date thank u for reminding me that!

in no particular order ken sugimori, shigeki maeshima, kazuya nuri, masayuki doi (particularly in smtiv) have really latched onto my head as i progressed thru my art over the years i think. more recently, most of the snk artists especially shinkiro, and eisuke ogura’s smooth watercoloury painting styles are so pleasant to look at. ryoko kui’s art studies and little doodles for building up on dungeon meshi are also so inspiring they have been enough to break me out of my really bad art block 😭😭!!!

i think the key illustrator that really has stood out to me the most is shigeki maeshima! PLS LOOK 🫵

tatakau shisho is a light novel ive talked abt on here several times and it had such an intense grip on me in middle school and i think his work for the series is some of the most gorgeous art i’ve ever seen in his portfolio and for any series even, and to this day is still what i grab my inspo from😭😭

idk if i could achieve the details he has in his art ever but omg liking his works was my personality and im so sad tatakau shisho was never really known enough for ppl to notice jus how beautiful the artwork (and the story) was. on the plus side some of yall might know him from drawing for fe heroes so I THINK HES DOING GREAT IM SO HAPPY FOR HIM FOR THAT

anyway as a summary i think the pattern is i really like seeing smooth crisp lines and velvetty palettes, expressive eyes, REALLY DETAILED HAIR yeah. i started looking deeper into art as a kid with maeshima’s works and eventually got to here 🫡 my art is a little more on the cartoon-y pixel-y style recently but that is def also due to many more wonderful influences (see above!). im working towards incorporating my style into that flowey watercoloury vibe! eventually!
