I love Ravenloft but looking at its monster manuals you can really feel how TSR was overstretched and running far too many product lines at once, because they suck so bad

Ten pages of viruses, ten pages of will o' the things, twenty kinds of vampires they never actually used in published work, multiple subtly different creatures filling essentially the same niche at the same power level
