$7.9 billion yacht would be the largest floating structure

What hosts 60,000 guests, costs $7.9 billion dollars and is shaped like a turtle? It’s Pangeos, a terayacht that could become the largest floating structure the world has ever seen.

“Pangeos” is a proposed $8 billion floating luxury city—a “terayacht”—shaped like a giant turtle. If built, it would cruise the world from a home port in Saudi Arabian.

This turtle shaped ‘terayacht’ makes super yachts look poor. Italian design house @lazzarinidesign recently revealed plans for the Pangeos Terayacht in Saudi Arabia — featuring 19 private villas, 64 apartments, hotels, clubs, and parks. The floating city is powered by nine HTS electric engines (16,800 horsepower each) and can transport up to 60,000 guests at speeds of five knots. If you could create a floating city, what would it look like? Meet Pangeos the Terayacht, Saudi Arabia's giant turtle shaped floating city. Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in Western Asia. The oil hub of the world is in the news every day. From the world’s largest mall to full-fledged Air conditioned city, Saudi Arabia is in the headlines for unimaginable reasons. Today Saudi Arabia is again on the news because of the floating city. Yes, you heard that right; Saudi Arabia is spending an insane amount of money on this floating city. Let’s see what surprises it holds for us. Saudi Arabia’s dream projects are never-ending. First, the country was the house of the world’s longest skyscraper; it is now the house of “Terayacht.” It is shaped like a sea turtle. Next, Italian design house Lazzarini Design Studio revealed the Pangeos Terayatch. It is 610 meters wide and has every luxury you can imagine. From villas to spas to sports rooms, you name it. The floating city is one world in itself.

Pangeos, the traveling and floating city. The Pangeos is an itinerant floating city, comprising various hotels, shopping centers, parks, ship and aircraft ports, and all other facilities needed to house up to 60,000 guests in the middle of the sea. The terayacht proposal takes its name from Pangea, the supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. Translating this into a somewhat futuristic expression, Pangeos extends its length for 550 meters (1,800 ft) and measures 610 meters (2,000 ft) at its widest point — the wings. If realized, the turtle-shaped vessel will become the world’s largest floating structure ever built. The entrance of the port area to the main square, that extends into a wide terraced villa and subsequently leads to private houses, buildings, and rooftop terraces, with an upper ‘shell’ zone that offers landing of various flying vehicles. The lower space, houses 30,000 cells or cluster compartments and provides an unsinkable floating solution for the basement, which is conceived to be realized mainly in steel.
