Had a teleconsultation with a doctor to assess if I am able to do PE and I am now officially recommended to be assessed by a pulmonologist for exercise-induced asthma. It's weird that I have officially been advised to avoid physical exertion by like, all of the immunologists I saw, and I've known for years now that I have exercise-induced asthma, but this is the first time anyone's considered diagnosing me with exercise-induced asthma. I guess it's never been a priority compared to the eczema and so forth. I also guess that my mom might not have an excuse to keep denying that exercising makes my asthma worse (she likes to say that I only get asthmatic because I get tired, whatever that means).

Patient advocacy: In a healthcare system that can sometimes be complex and challenging to navigate, family physicians advocate for their patients' best interests. They help patients make informed decisions about their health care and support them in managing their own health.
clinic consultation: A clinic consultation is a scheduled appointment where you meet with a healthcare professional to discuss health concerns, symptoms, medical history, and potential treatments or interventions. The consultation begins with the healthcare provider asking about your medical history, which includes previous and current health conditions, surgeries, allergies, and lifestyle habits. Information about any medications you're taking, both prescription and over-the-counter, is also crucial. The healthcare professional will then assess any symptoms you're experiencing, asking about their nature, duration, severity, triggers, and any factors that alleviate them. This detailed inquiry helps the physician narrow down potential causes and guides further investigations.
Home Visit Consultation: A home visit consultation occurs when a healthcare provider travels to a patient's home to offer medical services. This method can be especially advantageous for patients who can't easily leave their homes due to factors like illness, disability, or advanced age. Home visit consultations can provide a comprehensive range of care, including routine check-ups, managing chronic illnesses, reviewing medications, and even performing minor surgical procedures. Importantly, this approach also allows healthcare providers to evaluate a patient's living environment, which can provide significant insights into their overall health and specific care requirements. Offering healthcare at home can greatly improve patient comfort and convenience, as they can receive necessary care without the difficulties of traveling to a clinic or hospital.
Teleconsultation: On the other hand, a teleconsultation (also known as a virtual consultation) refers to a healthcare appointment conducted via video call or over the phone. As modern technology advances, more healthcare providers are incorporating teleconsultations into their services. This approach is particularly useful for follow-ups, minor complaints, medication reviews, and discussing test results. Teleconsultations allow patients to conveniently discuss their health concerns with a provider without needing to be physically present. This can save both time and travel expenses. It's also beneficial for patients living in remote areas who may not have easy access to healthcare facilities. Privacy and confidentiality are maintained during teleconsultations in the same manner as in-person appointments. It's important to note that while teleconsultations offer numerous benefits, they might not be suitable for all situations. Some health concerns may still require a physical examination or in-person care.

Online medical consultation
Online medical consultation The advancement of technology has granted greater convenience in communication today. This rapidly developing technology and internet connectivity thrusting deep inside the urban and rural areas coupled with the mobile revolution have made our lives way much easier. The telemedicine platforms are also on the rise today, which enables patients to improve access to healthcare specialists irrespective of their locations. Hundreds of thousands of patients can receive quality care via videoconferencing technology by calling doctors live who recommend care pathways in a trustworthy and safe environment.
Online medical consultation has become a great advantage especially to those who cannot spend much time on their health. Consulting your doctor without having to wait on the phone or in the hospital more conveniently and securely is something exceptionally surpassing. Lack of time and having to travel long distances to the hospital are major reasons that are drawing many to online doctor consultation. For those who need a follow-up examination, and for a periodical consultation, seeing a doctor online appears to be a great alternative. . About the legalisation of telemedicine in India, there have been so many dilemmas regarding telemedicine, but finally, the Indian Government has published Telemedicine Practice Guidelines (“Telemedicine Guidelines”) on March 25, 2020, which clarify India’s position on the legitimacy of teleconsultation.
It is now absolutely legal to provide teleconsultation by registered medical practitioners (M.B.B.S and above) in line with the requirements of the Telemedicine Guidelines. It has been clarified that the first consultation between doctor and patient need not be an in-person consultation, and doctors in India can provide the first consultation to patients located in any State remotely through teleconsultation. However, all doctors who provide teleconsultation will have to display their registration number in all communications exchanged with the patient like emails, WhatsApp messages, prescriptions and fee receipts. Extreme care while issuing a prescription during teleconsultation is required. As a thumb rule, prescribing medicines for chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes or hypertension should be avoided during teleconsultation, unless it is an add-on or refill of an earlier prescription obtained during an in-person consultation less than six months ago. If a prescription for chronic diseases is to be issued, then the teleconsultation should be done strictly via video. A prescription can be sent through any electronic medium such as email, WhatsApp etc. as a photo/scan / digital copy of a signed prescription or an e-prescription.
There are various organisations in India including start-ups that provide excellent telemedicine facilities, with years of experience and have become adept in their orbit of services. The foremost companies are focusing on educating the people about health and other services and on improving public health and healthcare via telecommunications technologies. Abhicure, 1mg, Medlife, Practo, Portea Medica are few players in the field. Abhicure is a new player with all new revolutionary technologies. The online consultation was never this easy and trustworthy. They are extremely driven team with strong values having just one goal; to simplify healthcare, serve humanity, and enable healthy living throughout the world. It has got hundreds of health articles that keep you informed about good health practices. You can post your health queries and our team of certified doctors will get back within minutes. Abhicure has devices that record vitals real-time bridging the gaps in the telemedicine platform.

Post-COVID Healthcare in India: Digital Revolution with ‘Tele-medicine’
India, despite being a developing country, has always been at par and at times ahead of many other nations in healthcare and technology. We may have been slow to adapt to changes but have witnessed major revolutions in history. Such changes are consistent and have made a great impact on the people of the country. Could anyone imagine life without the internet during “Lockdown” days? Currently, we are going through such a phase that may even be called a ‘digital revolution’.
The whole world trembled in the COVID-19 pandemic which started in 2019 and by now in 2021, we have almost learned to live with, by adapting to the disastrous situation. Our industries, including the healthcare sector faced major backlash during this period. But healthcare being an inevitable domain forged ahead through the platform of ‘telemedicine’.
What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is the practice of healthcare services through internet and telecommunications technologies. The concept of telemedicine is not new but was not very popular in India. We always used to soak in the satisfaction of consulting a doctor physically. Telemedicine practice first started in 1960’s by NASA’s Public Health Department, in the United States. During those days it was only popular in rural areas where specialist services were inaccessible.
Telemedicine was practiced only in few regions of India in the pre-covid period. Fears of COVID infection and spread during hospital visit have led to a sudden increase in the practice of telemedicine in the country.
Guidelines for Telemedicine Practice in India
Due to the Increase in telemedicine practice, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) along with the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog Committee and Medical Council of India (MCI) have recently issued new guidelines for practicing telemedicine in India.
According to these guidelines:
Only a registered medical practitioner is permitted to conduct the telemedicine consultation.
Important exclusions included are that there is no provision of practice outside India and no practice of surgical or invasive procedure through the platform.
Registered medical practitioners are mandated to attend an online training program before starting telemedicine practice.
Medical practitioners are required to maintain documents related to consultations.
In case of an emergency, in-person consultation should be given.
The guidelines also included medicines that are not to be prescribed, a fee for consultation etc.
Digital Applications for Teleconsultations in India
Communication with a practitioner can be in the form of audio, video, text or the digital sharing of the data. There is a plethora of digital applications that support virtual consultations such as ‘Practo’,‘1mg’, ‘myUpchar’, ‘docprime’, ‘MFine’, etc. which provide:
Teleconsultation,
Online diagnostics, and
Online pharmacy
According to India’s eHealth market opportunity report, 2021, eHealth in India is expected to reach 5.4 billion US dollars by 2025 and is peaking at a rate of 31%. Mobile applications such as ‘Practo’ and ‘myUpchar’, saw 4 times increase in the number of patients during the pandemic in comparison to the pre-covid duration.
What are the Advantages of Telemedicine?
Telemedicine practice has helped so many around the nation to get the right healthcare service during the lockdown period and proceed to be helpful for timely and effective management of chronic diseases such as asthma, hypertension, diabetes mellitus etc., as all these patients belong to the risk category and are more susceptible Covid-19 disease.
Telemedicine has multiple advantages compared to conventional healthcare consultations:
By bringing healthcare to the fingertips, it helps common people save on transportation charges.
It is more convenient.
It helps those patients from rural areas, who do not have access to facilities.
It helps those patients who have limited physical mobility. For example, the transport of a bed-ridden cancer patient to the hospital for consultation can be difficult. In such a case, the patient can have a consultation with the doctor virtually.
Telemedicine has reduced a great amount of burden on hospitals and clinics and is thereby helping everyone maintain social distancing.
Drawbacks of Telemedicine
Telemedicine, on the other hand, obviously has some demerits too.
The information given through telemedicine can be mis-interpreted leading to other problems.
Privacy and data confidentiality are the main drawbacks of telemedicine. Patients and practitioners should strictly adhere to all privacy guidelines while practising telemedicine.
There is also a need for high-speed internet and access to a computer or mobile phone to avail the service. This becomes difficult for a person who cannot afford these and also who is not educated enough to use these technologies.
Telemedicine practice is also time-consuming as it requires time to set up the required infrastructure.
The patient will never-the-less have to visit a hospital or clinic for a blood check-up or imaging.
There should be a proper reimbursement system to pay for the services provided through telemedicine. With the introduction of online payment platforms such as ‘Google Pay’, this area has seen many improvements and streamlining.
Conclusion
Telemedicine practice is undoubtedly essential for us now in order to progress from the pandemic situation. Telemedicine is slowly making progress in assisting patients with respiratory diseases also. Clinical research and trials are in progress for tele-monitoring of ventilator-dependent patients in several countries.
Telemedicine will help us get healthcare services on time whilst protecting us by avoiding unnecessary contacts during this prevailing pandemic. Tele-medicine, however cannot completely replace face to face consultation that we have at the hospital.
The government of India is educating people on the importance of this practice, to avoid congestions in the hospital. This is a huge improvement in the field of healthcare services and public health.  The Healthcare sector in India is exploring more possibilities in digital health as they have witnessed a major transition from conventional healthcare practice to digital health ever since the beginning of this pandemic called COVID 19.

When You Should See a Doctor for Your Allergies
Allergic reactions, more formally allergies can be a common problem for many people worldwide. Many allergies are controllable using over-the-counter drugs. Some allergies, however, can be a menace and can interfere with the quality of life. The allergies can be fatal to ignore, specifically in the event of an aberrant immune response. An allergist is a doctor specializing in the treatment of allergic health conditions. An allergist notifies you the reason you are allergic to certain substances or pollutants and what you can do to curb the allergic triggers.
Allergies – An overview:
Some people might believe that paying a visit to an allergist can be an utter waste of time. Allergies are likely to resolve within days to weeks. Some instances of allergies, however, can go out of control propelling an aberrant immune response or alerting you about a response that has already occurred. Allergy symptoms might start interfering with the daily activities or complicate the congestion having lasted more than a week or two. It might be the right time for you to see a doctor.
What should you prepare before you visit an allergist?
It should start with the list of symptoms, the time you experience them the most, the activities that you think complicate the symptoms and what works to relieve the symptoms.
When is the visit to an allergist a mandate?
When an allergy is interfering with the     quality of life and the symptoms are not relieving despite using the     over-the-counter medications.
In the event of persistent infections like a     sinus infection, ear infection, or allergic rhinitis with headache, the     visit to an allergist is considerable.
When insomnia starts to bother your sleep     followed by your quality of work, it’s the right time to approach an     allergist.
If you have already been diagnosed with     various disorders like diabetes, cardiac issues, and thyroid problems,     allergies can imply many subclinical symptoms, thus making it mandatory to     visit the allergist.
Types of allergies:
Food allergy:
There are food allergies due to the inability of the immune system to respond properly to certain ingredients. This is common specifically in those with a faulty immune system. Lactose intolerance is one of the types of food allergies.
Seasonal Allergy:
As the title suggests, seasonal allergies are those with a seasonal or a climatic origin. Some people suffer from Allergic Rhinitis and Bronchitis during cold climatic conditions.
Chemical Allergy:
Various chemicals impact the human system in various ways. Perfumes, lotions, creams and body sprays are made up of chemicals that may trigger an allergic reaction.
Medical allergies:
Medications play a crucial role in our lives. Some over-the-counter drugs relieve us of certain undue symptoms whereas some makeshift medications offer symptomatic relief from health concerns. Nonetheless, some drugs can alter the way the immune system functions in some people. It may lead to medical allergies.
What can you expect during your first visit to the allergist?
Your allergist will inspect each of your symptoms thoroughly. The allergist might ask for your medical history, family history of allergies, Asthma or Bronchitis. You might have to explain your medicinal histories such as your current medications or previous medications. Your skin may be subjected to checks.
How can the Allergist help you?
The initial visit will involve your tests for probable allergies. The results will warrant the inclusion of various treatments which may include but may not be restricted to:
Prescription medicines
Avoidance of foods or environments clinically     rendered as the triggers
Allergy shots
Changes in the lifestyle to minimize the     symptoms, specifically, if the allergies are associated with environmental     factors or food
