i think this episode of ted lasso was so good because it was about love like as cheesy as it sounds it’s kinda true. nate was reflecting on his wish to be “successful” and has finally realized that in doing so, he had lost his passion for pursuing his interests and his love for his family. rebecca obviously pointing out how a huge part of sports is the community formed around the love for the sport and teams. roy realizing how his stubbornness made it difficult for him to accept his love for keeley. keeley realizing that she was truly passionate about her company and she loved the work she was doing before jack had been a part of it. sam holding onto his dreams and his love for his home country despite akufo’s bullying. jamie expressing his love for his team by showing up to phoebe’s uncle day for and choosing sam’s number when he plays for the england team. it’s truly about the love

I just want the viewers that are into the show but not necessarily into soccer/football to know that there are No out players in the men’s premier league. There are no out players in Any of the top men’s leagues. That’s what Colin as a character is facing in that universe.

When Roy gets mad at the team for not speaking up to defend his ass after getting yelled at by Rebecca, Isaac mumbles “He’s right, we’re cowards” and that line is just taken as a joke, especially viewed just in the context of that scene.
but in the context of that whole episode, Isaac realized that he was acting cowardly for not sticking up for a friend when he fully had the ability to. So when the “fan” said the slur, Isaac didn’t take the cowardly approach, instead he stood up for his teammate and best friend.
It may not have been the best choice to hop up in the stands, but he learned from his mistake with not defending Roy, as playful as the scene was, and made sure to support his best friend when it was more important than Roy’s hairy ass.
Isaac may not be the best with words, but he wanted to show Colin that he supported him despite being angry at him.

The Trent and Colin scenes this episode were so important to me. I loved the symbolism they used through their outfits too. When we first see Colin, he’s wearing his signature back jacket with the teams orange shirt showing through.
Tumblr media
At the bar, he’s in this same outfit only now Trent Crimm is with him and he’s also got on a bright yellow shirt with a long coat over it. To me, this shows how each of them had to live hiding a part of themselves.
Later, when they’ve had their discussion by the bell tower and establish a supportive mentorship/relationship, we see them at the bar again. Only this time, they are proudly wearing their true colors. The jackets have been discarded and now they stand in a room with people just like them wearing bright orange and yellow shirts and feeling no need to conceal who they are.
Tumblr media
This is especially significant because we’ve previously seen Colin in the locker room in all black while surrounded by his teammates who wore their bright clothes. The growth for Colin and Trent this episode is so immense and meaningful to their characters and the audience

I'm so fascinated by what Ted Lasso has done with Jade in this season. I thought the "lesson" was going to be that no matter how "big" you get there's always going to be someone you can't impress, someone who dislikes you, just because. (Or possibly because they had to clean your spit off the restaurant's bathroom mirror, but that's just speculation. . . .) And Nate, who falls to pieces if even one online rando doesn't acknowledge his worth, would have to learn to deal with this disdain from a lowly waitress.
But instead, it's become a story about Nate meeting someone who is not interested in being impressed. Which makes so much sense if you've worked in the service industry. Jade has likely seen men put on a show, over and over again. She's probably been hit on and been looked down on by well-off creeps for years.
Some commentators say that Jade started to like Nate when she felt sorry for him. But I think it was actually when he defended the restaurant to his date, admitting that it might not be much to look at, but the food was very good and it was personally important to Nate and his family. Because this is the first time she's seen Nate act outside his ego. It's the first time she's seen him be real and genuine, praising something for an inherent quality rather than a glossy perception.
I think Jade is attracted to honesty and realness, and that's a very interesting combination with Nate, who has been endlessly seeking external validation even at the cost of reinventing himself.

“Big Week” is a masterclass on the danger of misplacing your emotions rather than processing them. Roy and Beard. Rebecca and literally everything with West Ham and Rupert. The ENTIRETY of AFC Richmond leaning into aggression about Nate and the BELIEVE sign. Only Ted and Jamie weather the storm and try to do better. Nate’s only starting to figure his way out.
