marissameyerauthor: 'Tis the end of Cress Week and I wanted to share one of my personal favorite Cresswell moments after seeing so many of you sharing yours! Personally, my favorite Cresswell moment doesn't happen in the core books, but in the graphic novels. I really loved writing their relationship after things had a chance to settle and "normalize" - and writing this sweet little moment in Wires & Nerve was sort of my chance to show what "happily ever after" was going to look like for them. The Team challenges are here !!
Team Cinder, Team Scarlet, Team Cress or Team Winter- Which team will you be joining?
The Lunar Chronicles Readathon will take place from 1st November 2020 to 30th November 2020. You can choose to take part in the all the teams challenges or choose one team or choose between challenges!
Our group book, Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer, will be read by all the teams. Its not compulsory but it contains the highest points !
There will also be Bookstagram photo challenges throughout the readathon- one photo challenge per week, which will carry additional points as well.

Unknown user: You are welcome. What is your name?
Cress had hit send without allowing herself to retract the comment. Pulling away from the screen, she set to knotting her hair nervously around her wrists. On the screen, she could see the man's handsome eyes blinking with concern and uncertainty.
It was clear that he did not want to give his name, but she held her fists tight, refusing to dismiss the question unless he threatened to cut their connection. She wanted to know. It seemed oddly, incredibly important.
"Uh..." the man stammered. "What is your name?"
She pursed her lips and typed, Cress.
"Cress?" she heard a female voice say-not the cyborg. "Like the vegetable?"
"There's a vegetable called cress?" said the man, turning his head to look at someone out of the screen's view.
"Yeah," said the voice. "It's like a cabbage."
Not like the vegetable, she said. It's short for my full name.
"Okay," said the man with a half-smile. "So what's your full name?"
She gulped. Crescent.
The man quirked an eyebrow.
"Uh-oh," said the unknown female voice. "That's a Lunar name if I ever did hear one."
I am not Lunar, she typed quickly. I am not anything.
"How can you not be anything?" the man asked.
I was born on the moon, but I have memories only of this satellite. I do not consider myself Lunar, And I have never been to Earth.
The shock on the man's face, and the cyborg's too, was unmistakable. And she thought she detected hints of pity too. But mostly just shock and disbelief.
Then the man narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "How old are you?"
I'm not sure, she answered honestly. Sixteen maybe. Or seventeen.
She blinked. It was a question she had never considered. If she had a birthday- which, clearly, she must have Sybil had never told it to her. And she had not bothered to count the days and months until only a few years ago.
The man sat back in his chair and Cress had a panicky feeling had the untrusting gaze he was directing at the screen. Then, he held up a finger and said, "One minute." And the connection was lost.
marissameyerauthor: So l'd been planning to post the last page from Cress's first draft, like I did with Cinder and Scarlet, but when I went to find it I remembered that I never reached the end of Cress back in 2008. (I only got through about a quarter of the draft during that @nanowrimo.) And the last scene of the book once | *did* finish the draft is pretty much a scene that exists in the series still, so nothing too exciting. So instead! Here is a snippet from Thorne and Cress's first communication from that first draft in 2008. - For clarity, Woods is Thorne, and they're having this conversation via text. Cress can see them but they can't see her. - Of all the books, Cress is the one that changed the most from first to final draft, so it was hard finding a scene that would even remotely make sense without having to give a lot of background explanation. Heck, most of it didn't even make sense to me! Oh, the beauty of messy first drafts... #lunareverafter #teamcress
