So I watched The Digital Circus, thanks to my buddy @minnesotamedic186, and now I have somewhat of a theory/interpretation.

The Digital Circus is a metaphor for the autism spectrum (or neurodivergent people in general).

Each character within the Circus have various ways of coping with the situation they're in, all of which are real coping mechanisms:

Jax being passive-aggressive in order to keep from being attached to the people around him, while also not being a complete asshole.

Ragetha being the complete polar opposite, caring too much as she tries to make sense of the world around her and maintain a routine.

Gangle wears masks in order to conceal her emotions; in other words, she mostly masks herself while being around others.

Kinger is a recluse, hiding inside his "impenetrable fortress" from the Digital Circus and refuses to do anything outside his comfort.

Pomni freaks out and becomes filled with paranoia and dread, unable to escape the environment she's in and is expected to accept her fate as a new member.

Caufmo becomes an abstracted character, losing himself to the stress and ultimately being cast aside as a "broken" being.

Meanwhile, Caine and his buddy, Bubble, can be interpreted as society's lack of understanding how neurodivergent people work. Since Caine is the ringleader of the entire digital world, he's immensely powerful and yet he's unable to truly help Pomni and the others.

I had no idea what Ragatha's expression should be, so she just kinda looks shell shocked.

If I was to do this again, I probably would have made her hair curlier and her skirt longer since her proportions look so off, but this design took me far too long for what it ended up being lol

I’ve read through some of your old posts and I gotta say…I love me some angst. May I kindly, pretty please with a plastic cherry on top, ask for TADC gang with an S/O who abstracted a while back, but then they ‘respawn’ one day with a glitch affect about them, and their memory was totally wiped? Like it was their first day in the digital world? The glitch affect doesn’t hurt them or anyone like what happened to Ragetha and Pomni btw.

so funny story i was about to sit down and work on this about 4 hours ago but then my parents said they were going to watch the fnaf movie in the garage and i literally dropped everything and watched it so uh uh. the reason the grind stopped was because of fnaf movie and now im kinda tempted to pick up my fnaf fic again anyways! i did a similar post, here! jax and caines parts here will be short, really only focusing on the glitch aspect for them in this post, since the other half has already been written!

CAINE:

just got flashed with an image but you know that scene where the iron giant is trying to pick the boy up but hes like limp or something and the giant pulls back (ive never watched iron giant i just know this clip from a meme) i think it would be like that if he tried to poof your glitching away; but like. in an emotional way, if that makes sense. like its the same kind of carefulness and worry, i think... bonus if he does more damage than not

JAX:

honestly a little too scared to even touch you out of the deep seeded fear of getting all glitchy as well. like he knows it wont spread to him, but you know...

POMNI:

similar to jax i think she would instinctively avoid touching you even though she knows its fine... the whole hand thing making her overly cautious for future scenarios, you know? i think she would slip up and accidentally bring up something you and her did before you abstracted, or call you an endearing name before abruptly stopping herself and trailing off, sad stuff. grief makes her tear between wanting to find an exit faster and trying to make you remember/stay for you

RAGATHA:

poor girl :( i think she would genuinely try to make an effort to re/befriend you and try not to have her hopes too high for the two of you to get back together. if you hear about your past relationship and want to learn more about it, shell tell you what you want to know, but i doubt she would instantly start dating you again if you suggest the two of you trying to give the relationship a second shot... i think that would need some time

KINGER:

bro is gonna be going through it, first he loses his possible wife to abstraction and now he lost you.. got you back, but you dont remember anything. on top of that you look.. off.. sure it doesnt hurt you but it still looks like it would be uncomfortable, even if it isnt

stuck between longing to rekindle your old relationship and letting you go in order to allow himself to process this grief; the third option is potential abstraction for himself

ZOOBLE:

tries not to care. they want to forget everything like you did, they were finally starting to be normal after your abstraction. but now your back in a clean slate, mind wiped and memories gone. how does someone cope with that? as much as it hurts them they think it would be best for them to pretend you were a stranger again

GANGLE:

saying it again, poor girl. mix of pomni and ragatha here i think, like she keeps messing up and verbally reminiscing before realizing you cant relate to what shes saying anymore. will tell you anything you want to know about the past, but i think it would take a lot longer for her to consider getting with you again than ragatha. for both its kind of a "i dont want them to feel obligated to try because we were together once" type deal

here's something I realize in tadc episode 2 that no one seems to be talking about despite how heart breaking it is.

So we all know that they throw a funeral service for those who abstract right? They even invited pomni to attend Kaufmo's funeral because as linger said, "it's the least they can do to honour their memories"

What NO ONE brings up though is that if they were breaking down at Kaufmo's funeral and they do this for everyone who abstracts, how many times have they've gone through this process?

Sure, kinger has been there the longest, but apart from pomni they all had to go through such a painful experience over and over again MULTIPLE times. Did you see how many characters there were SUPPOSED to be? How many doors that had been crossed out?

My poor heart just aches knowing that they repeatedly lost so many friends and would do a funeral servicefor all of them. Ragetha even said "oh wow, I always tell myself I'm ready for these but then you see the picture and I'm already breaking down" and she had to stop crying

Even Jax and zooble became vulnerable, although Jax didn't attend despite showing visible sadness

And somehow NOBODY HAS SAID A WORD ABOUT IT??? Tadc community, where are your heads at???

hows everybody doing in the TADC fandom?

In the pilot he came across as sardonic with a persona that he uses to cope with his environment through detatchment (I totally get why the fandom immediately attached to him, he's giving sans but if he was a bully vibes )but he may go a bit to far at times with the way he treats the others. He acts disinterested and ambivalent from everything and everyone as though he's just going along with the story for his own amusement . Now , at this point I wasn't sure if he was truly just a jerk or if he was sarcastic but with a heart of gold, is he cruel to others or is he being playful in a kinda love hate relationship kinda way?We see examples of him actively manipulating the situation to help others, but then he breaks zoobles mask and takes advantage of ragithas insectiphobia. Does he care in his own weird way about the others but has trouble connecting? He seems to have carved his own ways around the circus, he somehow has access I to everyone's rooms and that's probably not the only backdoor he's found could he possibly use his RABBIT HOLES to help pomni find the exit? He goes behind the stage to get whatever props he wants, like the key and manipulate the story to be more "fun".In this newst episode we get a closer look at his reckless coping mechanisms and what he finds "fun". He craves violence regardless of how it hurts the people around him, the power immediately whent to his head and he got way too 'into character' on this adventure. Perhaps this comes from a desperate need for control or a way to escape this colorful overly happy land by breaking it with something dark? I start to wonder if he at any point starts to see the other players as just NPCs to get him where he wants as well? Does this mean the 'Jax is a softy deep down he just doesn't like lovy dovy stuff, this why friendly genuine Ragetha makes him uncomfortable' theory is dead? No. If anything this might actually verify my theory. In this episode we see the worst side of Jax come out where he goes way to far . He hats cute things, he hates how colorful and happy and fake everything is, it's a reminder of how trapped and powerless he feels. Cain gave him a war machine and with it the power to rip apart this colorful candy kingdom and all it represents, too feel power over his circumstances. And we see him go completely crazy with it, leaning all the way into his most destructive tendencies. Will he sober up and realize that this is super unhealthy? No , he doesn't come across as the ki da person to admit wrongdoings and apologize, he's going to double down. He's going to get worse and worst until he becomes a problem that the others have to deal with, perhaps pomnis characteristic empathy that she gave gummygoo can help this seething broody man-boy ?
