Lu Da what challenges have you faced as an Earth Kingdom pirate/privateer working for the Fire Nation?
Well, for one thing, the whole “Earth Kingdom blood” business throws a tiny wrench into the welcome wagon, as you can imagine, with plenty of offers for a complimentary dirt nap.
Lu Da flashes a sharp grin, one tattooed cheek claiming more of the feral than the other, as a scowling lout shoves past him, hard, with a sneer. He glances over his shoulder, not at the lout or the stool where his empty drink sits, but for the soldier who’d yet to return with their second round.
Lotta folks here eyeing me as a traitorous outcast, to say nothing of what my own’ll think once word catches. It’s an awkward sorta limbo, yeah, but that’s a worry for another day. A guy’s gotta live, and in my line of work, the only fealty sworn is to the coin. Till my contract runs out, that coin is Fire Lord Ozai’s, whether they like it or not.
To top it off, then there’s the pirate business. Hard for some to stomach their lord consorting with a man of my occupation. Thing is, Ozai’s an opportunist. He’s in this to win it. He saw a way to skirt the red rope and fancy rules and a guy who gets shit done with the track record to prove it. Mercenary of my notoriety is a perfect weapon in the right hands.
So yeah, safe to say these first weeks since getting my official papers’ve been like hauling a treasure chest through a pit of blasting jelly. Part of why I got this soldier up my ass all the time now. Courtesy of the Fire Lord, for my protection. ‘Course I know damn well it’s as much a leash, keeping me in line, making sure I’m good for my word. And who better than a duty-drunk buzzkill who can cut a man down in two paces?
There is a cheeky tug at the edge of his voice, and his lips curl with it.
Can’t even take a shit without her sense of honor breathing down my neck. I’ve tried shaking her off a few times—dove headfirst into the mob at a Fire Festival, started a tavern brawl with some oafs twice my size—but dammit if she's not there again like a stubborn itch. If an itch were also useful, and deadly. Almost can’t help but admire the grind. Small price to pay for a lucrative gig, I s’pose.
To boil it down, it’s a precarious balance that keeps me sharp, but the gossip and stink-eyes and death threats are just noise in the end. The results’ll speak for themselves in time. Never been one to shy away from a challenge, ‘specially when there’s good coin to be made and a reputation to uphold. What matters is the job at hand, and right now, that job is doing any and all dirty work Fire Lord Ozai wants done.
He casts another glance over the throngs, pausing to wink at a large man who spits a slur in his direction.
“Now where are our drinks?”

Champion
Put your hands together for the official hottest woman of the Avatarverse, Avatar Korra, who narrowly defeats Kya II with 53.4% of the votes
Tumblr media
Congratulations to our hottest girlie
Tumblr media
The ranking is beneath the cut. Quick note that this ranking is shaky at best and its more of a silly little thing besed around the percentages.
31. Poppy Beifong
30. Ta Min
29. Joo Dee
28. Buttercup Raiko
27. Ummi
26. P'Li
25. Naoki
24. Kya
23. Firelord Izumi
22. Toph Beifong
21. Suyin Beifong
20. Ming Hua
19. Eska | Ursa [tied]
18. Avatar Yangchen
17. Pema
16. Ginger
15. Zhu Li
14. Senna
13. Opal Beifong
12. Hei Ran
11. Yasuko Sato
10. Kuvira
9. Asami Sato
8. June
7. Lin Beifong*
6. Avatar Kyoshi
5. Katara
4. Suki *
3. Rangi
2. Kya II
1. Avatar Korra
*suki and Lin's places are even more shaky, as their poll was... messy.
Well this has been a fascinating and riveting experience. Don't know if I'll make another poll, but if there's such interest, i suppose i may.

In a small town and charming town nestled in the Wild West, there was Respectable Belle, daughter of the town's sheriff, a proud example of what a southern lady should be. Dedicated to her community and family, beautiful but risky to touch almost like porcelain. One day, Belle decides to pay her father a visit with lunch she'd made with tender love and care. This obviously wasn't an excuse to see what all the fuss was about. Having heard notorious handsome outlaw cowboys roaming the outskirts of their peaceful town, she couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity, and her hard-working father needed his food!
As Belle stepped into the dimly lit jailhouse, the clanking of chains echoed through the air, intermingling with the hushed whispers of the weary prisoners. Her heart pounded, gripping the handles of her basket as she caught sight of two ruggedly handsome men locked behind iron bars.
The first cowboy was muscular, flexing his broad shoulders, and hard muscles of his arms as his piercing eyes followed her up and down as a mischievous grin settled on his bruised lips. He whistled mockingly, kicking the man that was beside him with a hat covering his face. "Mingi ain't she just a Jewel?"
Of course this respectable Belle didn't get all dolls up to see these criminals no way. Wearing one of her many best dresses white and lacy it was slightly shorter than most of the dresses she owned. Thick hair tied in a ponytail with a white ribbon, small pieces of curls fallen on her chunky cheeks Her gloved hand fanned her face as she felt hot from by the way the outlaw stared at her.
The second cowboy removed his hat from his face lazily looking over in the 'jewels' direction. Eyes falling on your bust from your dress, clicking his tongue leaning back "Not worth a damn penny"
She sputtered, straightening her shoulders and pouting her lips. "That is. . . not very nice." Mingi scoffed while the other laughed.
"Gotta be nice to the lil' princess Ming" which earned him an elbow to the knee. "Hush it Choi tryin ta sleep"
"Belle!" Hong Joons voice spoke out he was her fathers second hand and mote than likely her future"what are you doin' here?"
"Hi Joon! My papa forgot his lunch this morning so here I am." holding our the basket towards him. "Aah always so sweet the sheriff out right now but have a seat here till he getd back ill keep you company. Just give your old man a second," then his gaze drifted to the men in the holding cell, a sweet smile dropping off his face.
"Don't talked to them."
She sat straight up in the chair looking around awkwardly as if she hadn't been coming in and out the jail house since she was a child.
"Well, well, The sheriff's daughter paying a visit to outlaws like us?" San spoke, arms hanging outside the rails of his cell. "I-I didn't come here to see yall. I came for my papa!! He works hard and needs his lunch"
"Leave ‘er alone, San. You know how daddies girls are" mingi grunted
"Sweet, obedient, needy" he listed off the top of his head. "You gotta love em'"
"They love us even more"

Quan YizhenxYin Yu for the ask meme? Cause they've been on my mind.
who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter
Yin Yu is the werewolf, and Quan Yizhen is the hunter. Only, Quan Yizhen is an orphan whose biological father was a werewolf, which means that he can't be turned by werewolf bites; so he keeps chasing reclusive werewolf Yin Yu around the countryside in an effort to learn more about his dad.
who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman
Quan Yizhen is the merman, and Yin Yu is the fisherman! Quan Yizhen likes to chase fish into Yin Yu's nets. <3
who’s the witch and who’s the familiar
They're both witches, but Quan Yizhen becomes Yin Yu's temporary familiar after he gets turned into a curly-haired kitten. Yin Yu pretends not to be pleased about this, but somehow, he always has delicious fish on hand...
who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict
Quan Yizhen as the barista, Yin Yu as the coffee addict. Quan Yizhen is frankly terrified by the amount of coffee trauma surgeon Yin Yu needs to get him through the day.
who’s the professor and who’s the TA
Not sure how this one would work out, because professor Yin Yu would never let student QYZ TA for him because they'd never get any work done. He does recommend Quan Yizhen as a TA to Pei Ming, though.
who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)
Knight Quan Yizhen is prince Yin Yu's personal guard, and is also personally responsible for the fact that none of his arranged betrothals work out. Eventually, Yin Yu figures out that Quan Yizhen is in love with him and ends up in a lavender marriage with princess Shi Qingxuan, who is smitten with her lady-in-waiting Yushi Huang.
who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent
Quan Yizhen is teacher to Yin Yu's son Lang Ying, a street child entrusted to him by his boss Hua Cheng (who set up an ongoing payment for Lang Ying's care and then immediately forgot that LY existed). Lang Ying was a quiet child who rarely spoke, but Quan Yizhen is so >:D all the time that LY just had to go home and report all his teacher's escapades to his dad.
who’s the writer and who’s the editor
Quan Yizhen is the writer, and Yin Yu is the editor. Yin Yu keeps trying (and failing) to convince Quan Yizhen that the love interests in his books can't all be slightly different versions of Yin Yu.

Did you ever want to read To His Coy Mistress but in romanian? Well now you can!
Here's the original: x
And here's my translation:
Amantei sale pudice
Încetișor ca un imperiu, și măreață;
Aș sta un secol să îți preamăresc
Și ochii tăi, și fruntea să-ți privesc;
Și două veacuri să admir un sân
Treizeci de mii de ani cu ce rămân;
Măcar o eră pentru fiecare parte,
Iar inima-ți în cea din urmă să se-arate.
Căci meriți asta, doamnă, pe deplin,
Iar eu nu mă voi mulțumi cu mai puțin.
Dar tot mereu aud din spate
A timpului trasură-naripată;
Și colo-n fața noastră se întinde
Deșertul veșniciei nesfârșite.
Acolo frumusețea ta nu va mai fi;
Din cripta ta de marmură n-oi auzi
Ecoul cântecului meu; virginitatea ta prea protejată
Va fi atunci numai de viermi gustată
Bizara-ți cinste-n praf se va preface
Și pofta mea în scrum va zace;

🔺Ok Lu Da you know we have to ask: are you or have you at any point been in love with Ta Ming?
7/10. You have flustered the Pirate King.
He coughs in an attempt to mask the odd laugh that rises in his throat, dropping a grin to the table that tightens by degrees.
“I, uh...” It’s a rare picture, the pirate’s usually quick wit abandoning him as the words stumble to arrange themselves into something intelligible. Lu Da runs a hand through his mohawk, disheveling it further, as if the gesture might help him gather his thoughts.
“I care for her a hell of a lot, there’s no denying that,” he begins again, regaining some of his bearings. “Which is a little funny, ‘cause back at the start it’s fair to say neither of us wanted much to do with the other, or knew what to make of ‘em. I mean, oil and water, right? Who’d have thought we’d ever be friends, close friends at that—”
“Real close,” mutters Marik from where he leans cross-armed against the wall. Lu Da shoots him a brotherly look of shutuppery.
“It was well-earned, but we have a connection,” he continues, “mutual trust, we’ve been through a lot together, and I admire her, respect her. Ta Ming’s strong, unwaveringly loyal and disciplined, so fiercely self-sufficient. May take a lot to rile her, but she’s a woman you do not wanna cross—ask me how I know,” he adds.
His mouth crooks up wryly before softening again as he hesitates, brow furrowing.
“Sometimes, I catch myself thinking, what if we’d never met? Winding it all back in my head, all the pieces that had to line up, and if just one thing, one mistake, one choice had been different…”
A tenuous silence settles, punctuated by the drumming of the pirates fingers, his gaze anchored to the table.
“There’ve been moments,” he proceeds, as if stepping out onto ice, cautious, questing, “when it feels like... teetering on the top of a high cliff, when we’re together and I get this lurch and I know I’m looking at her too long, and the only reason I look away is so I don’t do something stupid and send us over the wrong edge. We’ve seen each other at our best, and our worst. She’s been there for me, seen the good and the bad, accepted it all, and never once has made me feel like I...” He pauses again, sighs through his nose. “All I know is she fascinates me, challenges me, and whenever I’m with her, having her at my side, it feels… right, somehow... like coming home.”
A curtain seems to lift in the parting of his lips, in his drifting gaze, a rawness when his voice emerges again, as if he has found himself holding something startling and precious. “Fuck, is this what it feels like to—”
Marik clears his throat, quick but quiet. "Cheers to your epiphany, I'd say you're the last one to know, but..." He nods his chin to somewhere close behind, where the air shifts, the previously closed door having sighed open to encroaching conversation.
Lu Da’s gaze snaps askance and back, the question low on his breath. “Do not tell me she’s…”
A furtive nod. “Just walked in.”
Amended: 10/10, a kaleidoscope of panic and co-morbidities flickering behind his eyes.
Lu Da almost risks a glimpse over his shoulder. Instead, he rubs his palms down his pants and leans forward, burly arms folding against the table. “She hear any of that?”
Marik shrugs. “Nothing Jhu Lin hasn't probably already implied.”
“Hilarious.”
The small wave of voices and laughter swells as they grow closer. He catches his nickname.
Shifting in his seat, Lu Da makes a discreet slicing motion in front of his throat with a drawn grin and mutters, “Uhh, yeah, next question.”
Send a △ and ask my character(s) a really invasive question.
