It's often said that David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia is one of those films that must be seen in a theater. That statement gets my back up: If a movie's story and performances are secondary to its spectacle, is it really a good movie? As it happens, I first saw Lawrence in a theater in the year of its release (or at least its European release, which was 1963), but it was a theater in Germany and the film was dubbed in German. Only moderately fluent in spoken German, I don't think I followed the dialogue very well, though I certainly appreciated the spectacle, especially Freddie Young's Oscar-winning cinematography. It took some later viewings on TV in the States for me to grasp the movie's story, though the film was trimmed for time, interrupted by commercials, and subjected to atrocious panning-and-scanning because viewers objected to letterboxing of wide-screen movies. So this viewing was probably my first complete exposure to Lean's celebrated film. And though I watched it at home -- in HD on a 32-inch flat screen TV -- I think I fully appreciated both the spectacle and the story. Which is not to say that I think the movie is all it's celebrated for being. The first half of the film is far more compelling than the latter half, and some of the casting is unforgivable, particularly Alec Guinness as Prince Faisal and Anthony Quinn as Auda. Guinness was usually a subtle actor, but his Faisal is mannered and unconvincing. Quinn simply overacts, as he was prone to do with directors who let him, and his prosthetic beak is atrocious. Omar Sharif, on the other hand, is very good as Ali. The producers are said to have wanted Horst Buchholz or Alain Delon, but they settled on Sharif, already a star in Egypt, and made him an international star. His success points up how unfortunate it is that they couldn't have found Middle Eastern actors to play Faisal and Auda. In his film debut, Peter O'Toole gives a tremendous performance, even though he's nothing like the shorter and more nondescript figure that was the real T.E. Lawrence, and it's sad that screenwriters Robert Bolt and Michael Wilson couldn't have found room in the script to trace the origins of Lawrence's obsession with Arabia. For that omission, a good read is Scott Anderson's  Lawrence in Arabia: Deceit, Imperial Folly and the Making of the Modern Middle East, which not only depicts Lawrence's complexity but also the madness of the spy-haunted, oil-hungry wartime world in which he played his part. It's beyond the scope of even a three-and-a-half-hour movie to tell, though it could make a tremendous TV miniseries some day.

So when you look up the backstory for the Masters of the Universe character Evil-Lyn, there was kiiind of an origin in the ‘80s: a man named Michael Halperin wrote a series bible dated December 1982 where Queen Marlena’s backstory as an astronaut from Earth was elaborated with a crew consisting of jealous second-in-command Evelyn Morgan Powers, Doctor T.E. Scope and biologist Biff Beastman who crashed separately from the escape pod she was in and turned evil because reasons. (Biff Beastman!)
Apparently every Filmation writer who read this was like “WTF no that’s terrible” because it was never mentioned and contradicted by Marlena’s whole spacecraft splashing down with her alone, intact enough to put in a museum.
The 2002 cartoon brought back Halperin and Filmation staff writer Larry DiTillio, but the latter came up with an original backstory: she raised somewhere called Zalesia by her undead sorcerer father, the Faceless One. The day she met Kelddor, the future Skeletor, she was a witch thief who looked like this:

Despite undead sorcerers almost always being evil, Daddy seemed to be on the side of good. Why she spent decades rebelling with Keldor/Skeletor was left unexplained when the cartoon was canceled after 39 episodes.
Here’s where things get goofy: there was a 2004 comic NOT by DiTillio that tried to explain the mystery: Lyn’s father, King of Zalesia, was a contemporary of King Grayskull. That’s the era she was born in...

... and when Zalesia was being destroyed by a god-beast during her infancy (it was the Faced One’s fault), a time-traveling Keldor appeared in his palace and offered to raise her somewhere safe.
... except that would be HORRIBLY creepy when the 2002 cartoon treated Keldor/Lyn as a couple and Skeletor/Lyn as exes, so apparently he immdiately left her with the Faceless One thousands of years later in his time of origin? What a convoluted baby delivery service.
I just want stories where Evil-Lyn tries to make Keldor visit her undead dad and be really uncomfortable around this undead goody goody, then one day he dies and it’s ironic.
Oh yeah, and Evil-Lyn Classics action figure was given a biography with the full name Evelyn Morgan Powers despite being from an alien planet, so when the Faceless One got a toy, he was suddenly Nicholas Powers. Eh, it makes sense if you have an alien named Duncan.

The students of Students of T.E. (Electronics Engineering) – Semester VI opting for the elective subject of Electronics Product Design (EPD) visited APLAB Instruments Pvt. Ltd. (Thane) on 18th April 2019. The students were accompanied with faculty members (teaching and non-teaching staff as well). The students reached the APLAB House at 10:00 am ready for the exciting industrial visit. We were first taken to the power supply assembly department where we were first briefed on the differences between a switch mode and a linear power supply. The power supply that was being assembled was a linear power supply with dual output (0-30V 10A) constant voltage supply with current limit. The experts there explained the working of the power supply in detail and various aspects of that particular product designing including safety features etc. the power supply had an over-temperature auto shutdown feature. The supply had an active cooling arrangement wherein a small fan was used to cool the power MOSFETs that were being used as a series pass element in the linear regulation. The input side was protected with a filter (L-C filter) to ensure that no high frequency noise associated with 50 Hz line signal enters the supply. The supply had two high current transformers which had a SCR connected to its primary side to control the firing angle and reduce the secondary voltage whenever low output voltage is desired. Thus due to this mechanism the power supply MOSFETs had an average voltage drop of only 4V at all times thus reducing cost and space for bulky high power heatsink and MOSFETs and also saving power. We were then taken to the PCB assembly department where we saw workers assembling pre-printed PCBs through glass window to avoid contamination. Following that we were taken to the instruments department where some engineers briefed us about operation of their LCR meter and we tested few inductive and capacitive loads on the meter to determine the capacitance inductance and the quality factor of the coils.
