PANDORA

First of all I would like to say that the atmosphere and writing style were really immersive. I was fully committed to the story from the very beginning and just for this, this book deserve to be read.

That said,there was for me some little flaws. Some related to the story others that were basically my perception of the book even before reading it.

I was convinced that this book was a retelling when in facts it’s an historical fiction with a touch of magical realism.

Obviously the Pandora’s Jar myth is the inspiration of the book but unfortunately it was not really its epicentre but more an accessory to the story. I was expecting chaos, tragedy, mondial cataclysm and all that kind of stuff but no… there was only some sickness and some war issue in the background. So yes I was a bit disappointed about this.

Otherwise, it was really good! The topics were obviously well researched by the author and it was super interesting to read about jewellery, antiquities and how the history influenced both.

The characters too were well developed during the story, and even if I wasn’t really attached to them I really wanted to discover where their path would take them at the end.

I’m really happy to have discovered this quick and easy read and I’m looking forward to this author’s new work!

The Maid follows Molly Gray, a woman who struggles with social interactions and interpreting people’s intentions. Her Gran used to help her interpret the world but has passed away recently. She has been managing for herself working as a hotel maid which fits perfectly with her personality. However, on entering the room of Mr Black one day, she finds it in disarray and Mr Black himself dead in the bed. Because of her unusual demeanour she is identified as lead suspect but then with the help of friends that she never realised she had, the race is on to identify the real killer. Daughter Of The Moon Goddess is book one of a duology and is a debut fantasy novel inspired by the legend of Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess. It is the story of one woman’s quest to free her mother by pitting herself against the most powerful immortal in the realm. Finally, Pandora is a novel set in Georgian London where the discovery of a mysterious Ancient Greek vase sets in motion conspiracies, revelations and romance.
