Some Finnish things that I've turned into creatures lately :)

minkä makunen salmiakki sä oot? ootko niinku supersalmiakki vai perinteinen vai apteekin?

This is Finnish salmiakki. It isn’t the super salmiakki which I really want to try next. However we gave the salmiakki challenge a go. Our opinions are that this brand (Halva) is not bad. The smell reminds me slightly of beef jerky but it is a smell that I really cannot compare to anything else overall. The taste I also cannot find something for similar comparison. It has a very strong flavor. By far it is, as of now, the strongest licorice we have tried.

I cannot seem to find any of the Pääkallo Super Salmiakki available for purchase online that has the infamous reputation. Are there any awesome Finns out there whom I could Paypal funds + shipping for this? Message me with details and all that good stuff :) Or perhaps I have overlooked some shops by a slim chance that sell it online.

I am also considering trying djungelvrål (jungle roar) which has a similar reputation. I can order it from Ingrid’s Candy Shop in Sweden.

I am also going to order the Witch’s Howl or Hekeshyl from Denmark and give it a try.

I will start a separate blog soon showing treats we will try from around the world. Scandinavian ones will be first then next we are going to try Japanese ones :)
