This song is a poignant reflection on the highs and lows of love and its aftermath. Solar Eclipse Etiquette and Reminders

REMINDER: Solar Eclipse Monday  Aug 21st (late morning/early afternoon)

Most sources for eclipse viewers (the glasses form) are sold out and have been for a while. If you didnt prepare early you may have to build a traditional pinhole viewer. (please remember that welding helmets are not approved by NASA as being adequate to protect your eyes during a solar eclipse. But if you don't mind risking going blind, you can do what you want) 

IF YOU ARE NOT IN AN AREA IN THE ECLIPSE PATH YOU MUST WEAR YOUR LENSES AT ALL TIMES as the eclipse will never be total for you- you will only see a partial eclipse. If you want to see a real total eclipse, get on a flight or get on the road and head to the most accessible area for you to see it. Check the link at the end of the post for that information.

Of Land and Sea

Having discovered a hillside full of beautiful, sea green clay near the ancient settlement, I gathered some and brought it to the site. “Sun Scope” was born one sunny afternoon atop a vestige in the Garden of Ancient Leftovers. This object was spontaneously created taking on a new form. Harvested from its cold, earth nest and transported to a place in the sun, this raw, organic material experienced a new transformation. It's body pulled and twisted into a shape perhaps never before felt mingled with the heat of human hands to give its life new meaning. This new body was left to fend for itself to be shaped, transformed and ultimately consumed by the elements.

Nearly one month later, “Sea Scope” took shape on a rock near the shores below Amos and experienced a different life lastly only a short period of time. Broken down by waves lapping at its skin and the wind quickly carrying away its body in parts. These two works embody the experience of ephemerality, and the cycle of birth and death.

Are you ready for Monday's solar eclipse? In 1963, fifth grade class of the Emerson School in Maywood, Illinois were. They used homemade sunscopes, pinhole camera-like contraptions that indirectly project an image of the sun. According to LIFE, "To build your own, get a carton and cut a hole in one side, big enough to poke your head through. Paste white paper on the inside surface that you will be facing. Then punch a pinhole into the opposite side, high enough so that the little shaft of light will miss your head. For a sharper image you can make a better pinhole by cutting a one inch square hole in the carton, taping a piece of aluminum foil over this hole and then making the pinhole in the foil. This podcast and The Mountain Astrologer are a must for anyone who is serious about astrology. If you want to go beyond the often inaccurate content of newspaper Sun sign scopes, this is a good place to start. Contrary to common belief it is actually your rising sign that is most predictive. Your rising sign is what really reflects the activity in your houses. On occasion an aspect directly affects your sun and a sunscope can be helpful. But if you really want to know the who,what, where, when, and how, then your rising sign is what you need to pay attention to. Example: I am a sun and moon in Cancer but I’m a Libra rising. A real Libra horoscope based on transits will be most accurate for me, not a Cancer sun sign horoscope. How I move through the world is Libran, generally speaking. A Libra horoscope will tell me what is happening in my astrological houses. One could argue that the rising sign has much more to do with one’s identity than the sun sign.
