Some expressed concerns about a backlash against their affluent beachfront community after the Russian military invaded Ukraine last year and the U.S. government started pursuing sanctions against oligarchs who hide their wealth in real estate in South Florida and other parts of the country.
Before becoming president in 2016, Trump signed a deal with the developers of the 45-story condo buildings to name the property after him to help promote sales. Foreign buyers, especially from Latin America and Russia, flocked to Trump Towers, as they did with other Trump-branded properties in Sunny Isles Beach.

Alex Nabutovsky, the co-founder of QuickNode, paid $5.2 million for a unit at Regalia in Sunny Isles Beach. Chad Carroll of Douglas Elliman handled the off-market sale.
The Miami-based startup, which builds infrastructure to support Web 3 applications, closed the transaction in early March. It previously raised a $35 million Series A round led by Tiger Global Management, which acted quickly on the deal.
QuickNode’s business is growing “let’s just say fivex each quarter” as demand for NFT data surges on its platform, says cofounder and CEO Alex Nabutovsky. The firm also provides developers with tools to build and deploy on more than 16 blockchains.
A mathematician and professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto, Nabutovsky has published on a variety of subjects including differential geometry (including the length of the shortest periodic geodesic), geometric calculus of variations, and quantitative aspects of topology of manifolds.
Nabutovsky and his fellow founders opted not to raise the additional $60 million they were seeking in this round, largely because it would have delayed the company’s plans for rapid growth. They were already on track to surpass their previous revenue targets for the year by late September, and they have been growing steadily since then. The fundraising process was different this time around, because the collapse of cryptocurrencies luna and terra sent crypto markets into a tailspin, and investors have become more wary of risk in the sector.
