GENERAL INFO

born and raised in cassel — her father's family is from the area. they are a big and often loud family, which she wasn't always appreciative of, but grew to adore.

has a younger sister she always loved, but they had a difficult relationship growing up, especially after their mother's death. (wanted connection)

wasn't the popular kid — more of a too cool for school type of kid.

her family owns the firehouse lounge, where she can be found helping out on busy nights.

got accepted into juilliard, but almost didn't go because of financial issues. her undergrad degree was saved when they found out her mother had private funds for both her kids' college tuition.

came back to illinois after graduation to work at the chicago symphony orchestra

sadly, kit suffered an accident on her way to her mom's memorial on the 10th anniversary of her death, which cut her career short because of an arm injury.

has since started a career as a radio host, doing daily music shows and a weekly true crime and pop culture podcast.

younger sister: other than being close in age, everything about her sister is pretty UTP. the inspiration behind the relationship is the dynamics between kat and bianca stratford, I have a LOT of inspo posts for them and would gladly discuss this connection!

childhood rival: my idea for this was a preppy neighborhood who got under her skin, possibly in more ways than one.

Victor’s parents divorced around a year after his birth due to his father’s infidelity, having accidentally started a family down in Florida on a business trip just months after Victor was born.

His mother remarried around the time he was seven, bringing his stepmom and sister into his life, and it’s the two of them that completed their family and made it feel complete.

His sister was his best friend growing up, eventually being the one to encourage him to try his hand at the guitar. Over the years, the two would write songs together, and Victor’s love for music grew.

While high school saw his sister becoming more serious about academics, Victor’s desire to make music continued to soar. To appease his parents and his counselors, he secretly applied to both Julliard and Berklee, but was rejected by both, something that nobody knows to this day.

After graduation, he went on to enroll in some local community college classes, which is where he ended up meeting the fellow classmates that would make up The Bright Ones, their local band turned global sensation.

Within just years of forming, the group found themselves off in New York with a record deal and the makings of their first studio album. One album turned to a tour, which turned to writing their second album, and another tour..

The fame definitely changed them all. Victor himself was less reachable, more forgetful and arrogant...and the destruction of the band felt as if it’d come out of left field when, in reality, it was something that’d clearly been boiling underneath the surface for some time.

After being dropped from their label, Victor returned home about a year ago, with no idea what it was he was to do from there. Eventually, he gathered his bearings, enrolled in a fast tracked teaching certification, and is now three months into the semester at Cassel High as their newest music teacher. It’s not where he saw himself ending up, but it paid the bills and got him off of his mother’s couch, so it would have to do for now.

Wanted Connections:

Coworkers at Cassel High: Victor is the newest (I’m assuming) addition to the staff, and as a first time teacher, I’m sure he would love some people to be able to show him the ropes, make him feel as if he’s not completing failing these kids.

Friends from high school: He is a native, and was fairly popular growing up, so if your character is a similar age and from Cassel, it’s totally not out of the question that they’d know each other! Similarly, he has a step-sister that was the same age, so they could have been friends with her as well.

Fans of The Bright Ones: Before getting their big break, The Bright Ones were a local gig, so your character could’ve followed their journey from the beginning or just discovered them after they got popular (or after they broke up).

Patrons of Dough Re Mi Bakery: Victor’s mom owns the local bakery, and he’s been known to help out on the weekends.

Marley Callahan was born in Cassel, Illinois to a young single mother who she took more care of than was cared by. It was just the two of them growing up, but Helen’s growing addiction problem and the revolving door of men it brought into their lives crowded the space of the trailer they lived in for as long as Marley could remember.

Her perception of home is warped due to this, growing to resent her hometown and the people in it for idly sitting by while her mother made a mess of not just her life, but Marley’s as well.

Had it in her head from a young age that she would get the hell out of dodge at the first chance, with a plan in mind to disappear after graduation and never look back. She got there, eventually, but not before falling in love her junior year of high school and, despite her instincts, opened up her plans to involve him in them.

After a bout of cold feet, Marley actually ended up leaving without him, slipping away in the middle of the night without so much as a word.

It took awhile to find her footing, but Marley eventually did so, and in the process discovered a profession that both funded her travels and aided in her transportation for them: stewardessing on charter yachts.

The last ten or so years of her life have been split between land and sea, working for weeks at a time to save up enough to fund her travels for the months to follow. She’d just touched back down in the US when she’d gotten the call: her mother had passed away, and left everything to Marley.

“Everything” was a loose term: there wasn’t much, but enough to force Marley home to handle. Once she’s washed her hands of all the arrangements, she plans on making true to her promise, and never step foot back in Cassel ever again.

Wanted Connections:

Coworkers at Ray’s: Marley’s not too thrilled to be employed back at the diner she worked at as a teenager, but she’s good at what she does and it’d be cute to have a baby waitress under her wing.

High School Classmates: Normally I would say friends, but Marley didn’t really have friends during high school...during the latter years, she loosened up a bit, or maybe they were lab partners or those friends who don’t admit they were friends but spent a good amount of time together!

High School Boyfriend: This is the big one, and I’ll most likely be sending in an actual wanted connection form for it, but! The high school boyfriend Marley left behind! Angst.

Half-siblings: I’m thinking that with the death of her mother, this could bring the possibility of a half sibling Marley didn’t know she had coming out of the woodwork? Will probably also be a wanted connection submitted to the main!

Spencer Reid meets Ross (I don’t remember anything from Friends but this feels true). V smart boy whose intellect can be isolating.

He’s mildly hard of hearing - softer sounds are harder for him to hear. He’s known since he was very young and manages well, though teaching has presented a couple of new challenges.

Huge Nerd and will spout facts at you if given the chance. Not Good with rhetorical questions. He will answer them.

No friends. Nice as he may be, he’s very focused and doesn’t try very hard to keep in touch. He had very few friends in his K-12 life, and his membership in Unsolved Inc. was kind of a fluke - it’s all thanks to his younger brother. He doesn’t really believe in the supernatural, but it’s a fun way to spend his time and he is without a doubt one of the best researchers out of everyone his age.

Dating/relationships/sex/love are some of the only topics that never cross his mind. He considers them existentially, but has known he’s asexual for quite some time and actually takes comfort in the fact that he’ll never be distracted from his work in that way.

He has a doctorate and is trying to get another from Creek U. His parents were determined to keep him in K-12 at a regular speed to ensure proper socialization, but by the time he graduated high school, he’d also essentially secured a bachelor’s degree (a couple of summer courses and he was done thanks to a deal with the school). He was then able to complete a doctorate in Molecular Biology. He’s now on his second doctorate in Engineering.

He’s very involved with all of the academic societies at school and he’s the President of the Science Club. He’s always leaned science/math, but he does enjoy all academic endeavors.

Tri-lingual - English, ASL, Latin. He’s working on additional languages, but wouldn’t say he’s proficient yet. He considers proficient to be the level required to be a professional translator.

He’s not good with nicknames, even though he allows them for himself. He tends to go formal with names, ex: Millie? No, you’re Romilda.

BIOGRAPHY

william deuxfois has always been the smartest kid in the room and that’s no exaggeration.

he knew it the moment he first stepped into a classroom, reading and writing at already impossibly high levels for someone in kindergarten to the point where he had been asked to skip more than one grade (his parents said no). what was a little damaging socially had been fascinating mentally, and that had set the tone for the entirety of will’s (still in progress) academic career.

will is a nice boy. he’s polite, decently friendly, and somehow still entirely friendless. the ross of any would-be friend group, maybe it’s the casual dropping of scientific fun facts that keeps the throngs of potential friends at bay, or maybe it’s the fact that he’s on his second phd at 26 years old and refuses to be wrong about anything. either way, he hasn’t had a lasting best friend since he was four years old (his mother) and that trend shows no indication that it will be altering from the norm any time soon.

but no matter. will doesn’t need friends when he has his work.

perhaps it was his eidetic memory, or his incurable thirst for knowledge, but ever since he began to form coherent thoughts that could be verbalized, william has been questioning things. he believes that every single phenomenon on earth has a scientific explanation, even the supernatural.

enter unsolved inc.

will isn’t really sure how it happened, but when the group was being founded, he somehow found himself surrounded by a group of people he’d never really interacted with before (minus his brother). and he stuck by them, reveling in a found family that was the closest thing to a friend group he’s ever had, chasing internet fame and researching to his heart’s content all while attending graduate school. he’d been able to get his undergrad degree shortly after his high school diploma, and unsolved inc. has kept his mind occupied for a while...

until now.

he’s older than the rest, and he’s nearing the completion of his second graduate degree. it’s about time he did something with his life, yes?
