Back in Disneyland's early year, there was a lovely submarine ride called Submarine Voyage. It was a lovely underwater ride that traveled through several underwater scenes including a lagoon, a graveyard of lost ships, The North Pole, and the bottom of the sea and you can see mermaids and sea monsters.
Then it got closed in 1998 and replaced with Finding Nemo, but the original concept was cool enough that it had a short-lived successor at World and a dark ride in Tokyo both based on 2000 Leagues Under The Sea.
But what about another IP that also had mermaids and sea monsters that fans love? Too bad that doesn't exs-
Imagine this: you arrive at a shack-like docking area (maybe a walkthrough a variant of the Mystery Shack) with Soos's voice introducing the latest in the Mystery Shack tour package: a submarine tour of Lake Gravity Falls! He also gives the typical ride warning plus a few random silly facts (some true, some from the show)
Once you get in the sub, the tour begins as "Captian Soos, your lake-worthy captian" gives the all-ahead full and we dive, entering the lake. The lake (which is this ride's lagoon) shows a suprisingly colorful lake bed with various fish, beavers, unusual stones, and some odd divers (gnomes is my first pick).
Then Soos gets an alert of bad weather which causes the sub to dive deeper into a graveyard of sunk fishing ships. As Soos comments on the unsual number of ships, strange things can be seen peering out the wrecks and a distance roar is heard.
We then dive into a cave that contains old science equptment and more strange creatures before we hit something that causes a total blackout. Soos says he'll fix the lights while strange lights and orbs hover around the sub.
Soon the sub gets moving again and we spot Mermando, who says he's come to visit Mabel and warns us of underwater volcanos ahead. We navigate through them and it looks like smooth sailing from- LOOK OUT DUDES IT'S THE GOBBLEWONKER! Except it's actually Old Man McGucket who we now hear on the speakers yelling at us for some arbratary reason (it's McGucket, it could be any ridiculous reason) before Soos scolds him for scaring his tour group, causing the sea monster to back off before finally returning to the docks. Soos thanks us for coming, reminds us to be careful getting out, and suggests we visit the gift shop for "absolutely neccicary" souvineers.
