SPOILERS FOR NEUVILLETTE’S STORY QUEST
ok so something i noticed during Neuvillette’s story quest is that at the end, his eyes completely change to a different color! for context, this is how his eyes look normally:
versus how his eyes appear here:
notice how they’ve become an inverse color of each other? the pupils are now white with the iris being dark blue/purple!! during the time his eye color changes is when he reflects on past Fontaine vs now; and how emotional he gets when he realizes how much has changed since then. (it’s still up for debate on exactly which emotions he’s feeling but regardless-)
He’s come to the realization that the people of Fontaine have welcomed the melusines, and by extension, him, as one of their own. They’re no longer outsiders; he no longer has to worry about the dangers of everyday citizens attacking because now they view him as one. i just,,,, please someone give this big softie a hug 😭

Spoilers for the 4.6 Arlecchino story quest
Honestly I think it was pretty good but I also feel like it fell in some places
That one kid who ratted out the others was pretty interesting as a simple consequence of his environment. I think the formatting of cutscenes and the still images was a neat idea and Clervie and Arle’s story was the highlight because even with the knowledge we players have we still learned new things and waited in anticipation for what the characters would find out.
But I also feel like Hoyo absolutely chickened out with making Arle too evil. Like they made her sort of morally dubious but then stopped before she could get more interesting. I said before in another post I don’t mind her legitimately caring for the Hearth kids but I also feel like there should have been more consequence with the fact she bluntly stated she kills traitors. With what the story does with the bottled flames it kind of feels weird and also negates the sadness of characters like the Hearth kids who were implied to have died in Sumeru or Lyudochka and the work she did to escape.
Also I have weird feelings on the fight and with Traveler escaping her grasp but then being unable to actually win. I might make another post about that but in short I get the idea but I feel it was really poorly done
Anyway, where’s the Traveler lore Hoyo cause this quest made me want the Traveler lore

But right before the ending I woke up and never got to see how it ended

I love "Miko's Ingenuity" (the track that plays during Miko’s Story Quest cutscene) and upon revisiting the recording I took of the cutscene, I decided I’m gonna be loud about it and say:
We, as a collective, don’t talk enough about this.
We’ve seen Yae appear in a grand total of like 7 different version updates and throughout all of them THIS quest and cutscene is the ONLY time we ever see Miko even a little emotionally vulnerable. And I think it’s an amazing insight into her character.
Miko is gaslight gatekeep girlboss incarnate; she’s a cunning mastermind, likes to tease people and she’s always the one who’s 10 steps ahead in any given situation. We been knew that, and this is a persona she displays that no one has ever been able to break.

She waited for Ei for 500 years, got her back, and now she has to send the souls of her friends and family away.
“It’s a feast and all feasts come to an end” [and what if I literally sob]
[My heart broke watching this I love her so much]
Her FACE ! THAT expression. I am sniveling on the ground.
We know both Ei and Miko have lost people close to them; here we see Miko go through the loss firsthand. And even in the presence of the Traveler Miko decides not to preserve her unbothered and nonchalant mask. She’s sad to seem them go. But she knows it has to be done and she takes comfort in the fact that these youkai lived their lives to the fullest.
good GOD I could go on and on about how hot she was for doing this in the first place (both the animation and the masterful big brain plan behind getting the whole city to do the chant along with her).
But I won’t, I wanted this post to mainly just be about how great it is that we saw this moment of vulnerability from her. And how this moment is NEARLY A YEAR OLD!??! I just thought it was so delicious from like, a character-crafting perspective. ‘Cause even in the recent Mikawa Flower Festival the topic of youkai losing friends throughout the passage of time is brought up again around Miko, and she played the part of, well.. ‘therapist’ for Chizuru incredibly well.
We have never since seen (and maybe never will? for a while at least) the same level of vulnerability that she displayed in her story quest, and I want people to remember it, because it definitely humanizes her more and just contributes so much to her character as we know her in the recent versions and I love her so much.

Alright, I'm back sooner than expected.
So I just played Alhaitham's story quest and I NEED to talk about it. So, SPOILER WARNING for what's beneath the GIF.
Holy fucking shit that quest was so good.
Ok so. Let's begin with Ilyas. As soon as I saw him. I knew that this man was suspicious as fuck. Why? All right. First, you don't barge into the Akademiya with amnesia, barely being able to stand, have a family that is alive and send money to on a monthly basis, and have been "exprimented" on.
As soon as we learned that Siraj didn't like Alhaitham. I don't know what happened but it just clicked to me that Ilyas was probably working with Siraj in some kind of way. And because the Matra did clear him for amnesia. I suspected that he either actually forgot, or the Matra was working with Siraj. Though I ruled the latter out when I remembered that Alhaitham had written a letter to Cyno.
But, did any of that make me dislike Ilyas? Absolutely not. I can confidently say that Ilyas is one of my favorite characters in Genshin, even when considering playable characters. He's a really good character. He's I'm pretty sure, Hoyo's 5th attempt on a 'Teppei' character, following Dunyarzard and Jeht and her father.
He's also a very complex character. He was ostrasized and shunned because of something right, but instead of characters that would have just endured it for the 'greater good'. Ilyas took the easy way out, like any person would have in that situation. It's something we see in the Hive too. Every single person there actively chose to take the easy way out.
Also. When we entered Alhaitham's house. I spent a bit of a long while there. And I can confirm that there is only one bedroom. If the office Kaveh and Alhaitham doesn't have a bed we can see, considering the cutscene doesn't allow us to see it's interior.
I also know that there's only one bedroom, because, if you go to the other side of the house. There are two rooms. But the one on the right seems to have a lot of marble, and hydrophobic materials. That confirms it to be the bathroom. Since those types of matierls are used to make bathrooms in a Middle Eastern society. Belive me, I'm from a country heavily influenced by the Middle East so yeah.
