He's not the greatest lacrosse player, but he loves doing it anyway
He loves it when his family comes to see him play and when his twin cheers for him

I'm fighting the urge to write a Fix-It fic about the Teen Wolf Movie just because this fucking movie has awakened so many of my Sterek feelings and I'm DYING
Movie Spoilers Ahead
So Eli Hale has a habit of stealing STILE'S JEEP from his family garage because it pisses his father off? And Derek has fixed the keep after Stiles left it behind?
FINE. But that's because Derek tried to move on from Stiles, had a kid, and realized he wasn't happy in his marriage.
So he and Stiles try for the first fucking time and Stiles sees Eli growing up. They don't acknowledge their relationship at first - and they don't tell Eli because he's still too little when they are together - but they have some nice moments. They are happy.
Eli grows up seeing how his father and Stiles make a nice family together. He gets attached to Stiles because how can he not? They have taco Thursdays and Stiles promises Eli he'll be the one to teach him how to drive when he's old enough and yes, he's doing in on the Jeep.
And it fills Derek's heart with so much joy, to see his kid and the man he loves getting along.
But by Eli's 10th birthday, things start to get weird between them. Things are getting too serious and Derek is scared and Stiles is afraid of fucking this up because that's what he does, isn't it? He fucks things up.
They fight a lot and Derek can't keep doing this to Eli. He has to put Eli first, so he asks Stiles to move out, for a while. Just until they can find a way to fix whatever is broken between them. But Stiles... He's a martyr and he can't jeopardize Derek and Eli's relationship. That's bigger than anything else.
So without saying anything, he leaves.
And Eli rebels because he just doesn't get it. He thinks his dad messed things up with Stiles. He thinks Stiles didn't like him enough to stay for him. Things get awful, Derek shuts himself off and Stiles just stays away because it's easier.
By the time Eli is turning 16, he starts stealing Stile's jeep. Yes, because he's trying to upset his dad but also because Stiles promised him.
After the tenth time, Eli steals it and no one comes to collect him. He parks it close to the old Hale property and he just hangs out there for a while, lying on the hood of the jeep, looking at the sky.
"There's no place where the sky looks more beautiful than in Beacon Hills." A voice startles him and he gets up in a jump, looking straight at Stiles.
He's older but his head is buzzed. He smiles at Eli and shoves him to the side so he can sit beside him.
"Your father is worried about you, you know."
"He doesn't care about me. Like you didn't care about me."
Stiles sighs. "I care about you, kiddo. So much. That's why I left. And your father... He's a complicated man. But he loves you more than anything."
Eli is silent for a moment and Stiles just looks at him.
"You've grown."
"Well, you're old."
Stiles chuckles. "I guess I am." He waits for a bit, then, "I was just like you when I was 16. Didn't care about rules. Felt like I was invincible."
Eli doesn't say anything to that. There's nothing to be said. He feels invincible. He feels like his being reckless is the only way his father will pay attention to him.
"Let's go home, Eli."
There's a long stretch of silence between them. Eli blinks and Stiles can see there are tears pooling at the corners of his eyes.
"It's been a while since that house felt like home," is what Eli says, in a whisper. Like he's ashamed of saying it.
"I know," Stiles answers, truthfully. He knows the feeling. No place he's lived in after moving away has felt like home either. "But it's time. So let's just go home."

They really did make Stiles the most bi character ever and then pretend they they didn't. That boy would have lost his virginity to Danny in season 3, no question.
the fact this show acted like people wouldn't be interested in stiles romantically and sexually was and still is absurd.
tbh i think danny was wondering what was up with cousin miguel and didn't want to get pulled into the weirdness that surrounded stiles and scott or he probably would've hit it.
like danny, i know you were "joking" but were you? were you really?

Some Sterek thoughts I like
As requested by my awesome ride or die bestie mutual @that-grunge-fae here are some Sterek bits that I enjoy! Let me know if you want more!
They get together just after the Nogitsune. After months/years of pining and ST that you could cut with a knife, Derek finally snaps after realising just how close he had come to losing Stiles for good, the pain that came with somebody else wearing his skin.
Contrary to popular belief, Stiles makes the first move. In the summer whilst looking for Erica and Boys (whom stay alive and well in my head because I love them), he starts spending more time with Derek, bringing games and food and bullying Derek into actually living somewhere other than the ruins of his house. He does it knowingly and with the grudging support of his father.
Saying that, the Sheriff is not stupid. He knows there is more than meets the eye, and he also knows he would not be able to stop Stiles if he tried. He knew he would have to wait for Stiles to come to him. With that said, he also knows that Derek is a good kid, and a kid he is, he can remember how he was in the Before. He never believed Derek would do those things, and does not say a word when he gets reports of his son spending inordinate amounts of time with him.
In fact, the Sheriff is the one who starts off the Packwide bet, much to the horror of Scott.
He and Melissa both bet correctly, saying it would happen after Stiles is faced with unimaginable danger and certain death, within the year.
Scott says it will never happen at all in his denial
Lydia and Boyd get the closest after the parents, also saying within the year, but without the specifics
Erica bets within a moth for all of the tension between the two, Isaac says two years, and Jackson just ignores them all, but agrees with Erica. The pack just;; avoid Peter and discussing it with him
Stiles makes Derek get so flustered. Pet names and casual affection galore. Sweethearts and Darling and Babe. Brushing a hand along his back, his hands. Resting a chin over his shoulder. It amuses the Pack to a great extent.
Derek is more of a silent affectionate type. Gift giving is his love language. Repairing the Jeep, finding magical tomes, sending Stiles random article links he thinks he will enjoy.
There is no big or little spoon, because Stiles just flops. Everywhere. They are always entangled and sprawled out.
They can both cook, Derek from years on the hiding from Hunters with Laura, and Stiles from after his mother's death, and it is a major sore spot for both of them, but it doesn't mean they don't enjoy doing it. They surprise each other with homemade lunches and dinner dates. Derek even makes the Sheriff some heart healthy, but still delicious, meals he can enjoy at the station because he has more free time, and wants both of the Stilinski men to be happy.
Stiles slipped a house key onto the Camaro keys one day, without saying anything, and Derek doesn't notice until Stiles locks himself out of the house one day and calls. Derek will deny being emotional about it, even more so when the Sheriff calls him Son and welcomes him home every time.
Derek doesn't get a chance to give Stiles a housekey, purely for the fact Stiles went ahead and made copies of every important key in Beacon Hills for himself, but Derek does give him a key to the Camaro, which is even more emotional.

I feel good...decided to start writing a new chapter for one of my WIPs, checked Ao3 too and realised that I haven't updated it since August of last year....oops. ><!
but I feel good because I added just over 4 thousand words to the first half of the chapter....sure that is mostly all smut between Stiles and Derek having sex for the first time in front of the pack, but it felt good to write something for it again.

I'm never gonna forgive teen wolf writers for the damage they made not just to my poor heart but to the characters and the storyline that they write for five seasons. For five season they work on a narrative about Stiles and Scott being the only constant in each others lives, besides one of their parents, having this incredibly strong bond with tons of examples through the show like Scott being unable to heal when they weren't talking to each other after the fight outside the animal clinic because he couldn't forgive himself for not believing in Stiles and being afraid that he wouldn't forgive him either or Stiles being ready to sacrifice himself just because Scott was ready to commit suicide, and so many other times that i could rant about for at least an hour. All of that, just to pretend that nothing of it matters because Stiles's strongest connection is Lydia? Even when he comes back the first person that he decides to go looking for is Scott, not Lydia, so why did they decided to go with an incoherent narrative that makes sense to no one.

A (very long) snippet from chapter 1 of Wolf Kissed:
The tavern was stuffy and warm, even with the windows thrown wide open. Spring was rapidly shifting to summer, and Stiles wasn’t ready for the change. It was noisy behind the bar as Weston, his cousin, petulantly clattered and banged his way through dish duty and customers slapped the countertop to catch his attention.
Sweat ran down Stiles’s back as he passed out beer and whiskey; he poured drinks mechanically, wiping spills and mm-hmming as the regulars complained about this, that, or the other. It was the same complaints from the same people every night. Stiles had his lines down pat, and he could make their drinks in his sleep.
The building creaked as the wind blew, dust stirring through the stale air. Something on the roof rattled in a way that made his stomach curdle. They couldn’t afford repairs.
His gaze lit on their five rickety tables with mismatched chairs, the crack in the window beside the door, the loose, squeaky floorboards. He bit back a grimace and passed a beer to Ernest Bowen, who had been coming to the Hearth and Honey Tavern since Claudia was around to run it.

I was thinking the other day, Stiles has really gone through so much with his mom. There's being with her when she died (and the rush of relief/guilt that must have brought), dealing with her forgetting him and attacking him, and then having to fend off a magical clone of her in season 6.
It's interesting to me because no one else really has this level of parental trauma, and it's reoccurring in Stiles' narrative even though he never really talks about it. It's like it really is too personal for him to talk about with anyone, maybe not even Scott.
stiles as a character only makes sense when viewed from the lens of the trauma left by his mother's condition and death. claudia died when stiles was 8 years old and by that point she had gone through severe deterioration both mentally and physically.
we don't know when claudia started exhibiting over symptoms of dementia but i would hazard a guess of maybe 2-3 years seeing as she had a child within the last eight years of her life and stiles has memory of claudia before she was ill. still. it's way too young for him to fully understand what is happening.
like he internalized claudia's delusions that he was trying to kill her to the point of believing it on some level and believed that he was going to kill his father too. like jesus fucking christ.
his anxiety and obsessiveness surrounding his father's health and safety stems directly back to losing claudia. it's why he's so terrified of losing his friends.
hot take here i think his infatuation with lydia is wrapped up in feelings about claudia. he says he's been in love with her since the 3rd grade which would've been around the same time claudia passed. he latched onto lydia martin as a concept and didn't start seeing her as a real person until season 3.
his speech to her in master plan wasn't stiles talking to lydia it was talking to the lydia that was the stand in for his mother.
"you see, death doesn't happen to you, lydia. it happens to everyone around you, to all the people left standing at your funeral, trying to figure out how they're going to now live the rest of their lives without you in it."
it's why their relationship cannot progress romantically until the ghost of his mother is exorcised, but i haven't fully watched 6a yet and i still don't really view a romantic relationship between them as necessarily healthy.
but speaking of 6a, jesus christ the level of trauma of stiles has due to having to endure people forgetting about him. especially his father. his mother already forgot him once and died now his dad too? plus his closest friends. stiles's greatest fear come to life.
like with derek the trauma stiles endures isn't really talked about. stiles witnessed the mechanic get crushed by his jeep in abomination while being rendered helpless to do anything but watch and that's just glossed the fuck over.
this doesn't get into the relationship stiles has with his dad because that's all kinds of tangled. noah stilinski isn't a perfect father. there's definitely a level of stiles being both treated as a child and as an adult by his dad.
and you're right stiles resolutely doesn't discuss it with anyone. it's like he's taken it as his burden to bear and that's it. stiles keeps people emotionally at arms length as some measure of protection for himself. he's not really willing to crack himself open and share. emotionally vulnerability scares him.
one of the few times we see him really open and raw in front of others is when he's trying to talk scott down in motel california and holy shit stiles was fully prepared to just die with scott. you could say he was bluffing but was he? was he really?
the kids ain't alright in teen wolf. allison was never more right when she broke down saying "we're just a bunch of teenagers. we can't handle this."
they all need therapy.
