whenever right wing people talk about “parental rights” they are talking about property rights. they are arguing for further political and legal enshrinement of their children as their literal actual property

More things for our little one, expected by 16th March, induction 10th of March I believe it is, letter of confirmation to be received I think... Her microwave steriliser to just pop in the microwave for her bottles and dummies... A washing machine to clean her reusable nappies however we have plenty of disposables for my hospital bag and for if reusables don't work out for us... Her baby bath, her bouncer, her toy drawer with some toys, and her night light ❤️ Can't wait until we have a 2 bedroom property, we're all ready for her and we've made space though 💕

a friend of mine when she was a teenager used to not wear earrings very often so the holes closed up sometimes and she had to slightly repierce them (normal so far). except she used to heat up the stud on her hair straighteners bc it "made it easier" to repierce them, basically she cauterised herself every few months. i always thought that was metal as fuck
thats so smart i wish i thought of that. i used to just stick a safety pin in there and get an infection like an idiot.

One of the (many) things that makes disabled people the most marginalised community is that there will always be some kind of degree to which a good number of people will think that discrimination against us is okay. That it’s even “healthy”.
Think of separated entrances for disabled people into buildings. You’d never have separated entrances for black people today because history taught us well.
But it’s okay to have a different entrance for disabled people because a ramp looks ugly in the front or it “can’t be build”. So we have to go to the back, slalom through garbage bins, get lost in some corridor.
People justify this.
People justify institutionalisation of disabled people because “that’s the best way to take care of them” (breaking news, no it’s not).
People justify keeping disabled people outside of certain places, venues, fields, experiences because “it’s too dangerous”, “we can’t think of everybody”, “it’s too hard” yada yada.
And many don’t the see the real problem.
People justify the sterilisation of disabled people “because they can’t take care of children/their periods/whatever”.’
Like, we are not even considered enough for our own bodily autonomy.
Even when a disabled person is murdered by a family member the killing is justified and the family member who killed is “the poor thing who couldn’t bear with it anymore” and the murdered disabled person becomes “the angel who is now free from the life’s pains”. But no one asked them if they enjoyed their life, if they wanted to live.
Because a disabled life is not supposed to be good, right?
It’s always “for the sake of us”, “for our safety”, “to protect us” as if we can’t take decisions, as if we aren’t human beings with feelings, dreams, choices, desires, needs.
Nothing done against us can be intended for our best interest or our own good. It’s for the good of the abled-bodied society.
Period.

sure is interesting that in the midst of a climate crisis, specifically green parties all over europe are the ones obsessing over the extremely polarising gender identity issue. you would think they'd be out there building a massive voter base talking about droughts and forest fires and cities with increasingly unlivable temperatures during summer heat waves and not navelgazing about the importance of letting males id as women on their say-so. like, you peek at a self-id bill pretty much anywhere and find the green parties.

Actually I thought about that poll and I would rather be able to ride a horse around the city than a bicycle. At least 30% of the responsibility if something bad happens would be on the horse

My favorite thing in the world is where Wilyss romance fics always end in a pregnancy announcement. And you can tell it's written by someone who has neither experienced romance nor sex nor anything of the sort, because they think the end goal of all those things is a child. It's like a jumpscare every single time like wdym Alyss is pregnant?? And happy about it?? I can't think of a character who would want a baby less in possibly all of fiction. She'd be sobbing about it, not jumping up and down from happiness

The constant barrage of propaganda pieces about low birth rates are the canary in the coal mine. This will only get worse. If you aren't planning to have children, you need to AT LEAST know your options regarding sterilisation.
The world will not transform into dystopian Handmaid's Tale type scenes overnight. But attitudes towards women are changing once more. The pendulum is swinging. Our rights, our autonomy, our self-determination. These have all come under question before and can and WILL again.
If financial incentives and social pressure don't result in more births, if women aren't willingly biting the bait...what do you think is the next step?
