If the main pairings didn't happen which would be the second most compatible and why?

Oh I am so glad for this question because I have some weird ideas. So we assume that NONE of the canon couples are canon anymore? Here we go:

Mermista/Scorpia. You all saw this coming. Mermista and any hot, buff, idiot is GREAT, I love that. I think they could be really fun together, and they’re also 2 of my faves so I like, have to pair them up. Absence of canon interactions can’t stop me. Scorpia wouldn’t be put off by Mermista’s initial aloofness and would stick by long enough to actually make a connection and figure out that that’s just Mermista’s personality. And any little bit of outward affection Mermista would manage to show would mean the world. Mermista would appreciate Scorpia’s patience with her, and she would like that Scorpia is a very positive person, because they balance each other out.

Sea Hawk/Double Trouble. For the fucking chaos and because DT called Sea Hawk “hot stuff.” They would be so dramatic and stupid together. I think Sea Hawk could easily be very, very impressed and enthralled by DT, and they would suck up that attention like a sponge and really be able to vibe with Sea Hawk’s particular love language. And honestly Sea Hawk isn’t the kind of guy that NEEDS a lot of attention back, as long as DT was happy and enjoying his presence, that’s a sign of affection that Sea Hawk would be content with.

Catra/Lonnie? Maybe? There’s not a lot of Catra pairings I like. Scorptra was always a fave but I’ve already paired Scorpia with Mermista because self-indulgence, so. Catra and Lonnie have a lot of history together, probably second only to Catra and Adora, and I think if their relationship had been a little more fleshed out in the show, it could have been something interesting. Like, maybe if you reworked Catra’s breakdown and showed her starting to make amends to Lonnie for all the bad blood between them. That one’s tricky.

Adora/Glimmer. Glimadora bores me to tears but there’s not a lot of alternatives for them that would make sense in this scenario.

Bow/Perfuma. Again, bores me to tears, but Princess Prom suggested a little bit of compatibility to me, and again there’s not a lot of options left.

As for the adult couples in the show, it’s a loooot trickier. They’re all paired off very neatly and revolve around each other. Like, how do you break up Netossa/Spinnerella or George/Lance and put them with other characters? I can’t think of anyone else for Hordak to be with. I could entertain the idea of Micah/Entrapta just because I think it would be so fucking funny if Entrapta became Glimmer’s stepmom, but that’s about it. /shrugs

Imp is highkey an entrapdak shipper and a great wingman... WINGman, ha....
