I made this post about how moved I am yr addressed racism with Felice/Simon. It prompted me ponder issues about this fandom (starting how the nonwhite characters are treated in this fandom, and if people would sympathize with Wille as much if he was black instead of white, for example. But then it spiraled into other things as well) I've never had the courage to post about before, but yr gave me courage lmao (putting a disclaimer that I don't hate any of the characters as people...actually I adore most of them...except August). This season showed how ingrained racism is, it exists in so many "invisible" ways, where people can act as if it's not real since it makes them uncomfortable to deal with their own hidden biases, or worse, because they think their biases are actually justified. I've seen some mentions about how the audience of this show reflects the exact prejudices the show claims to criticize.
There's a notable pattern where even minor rich kid characters receive disproportionate sympathy/recognition and others face unwarranted criticism, reflecting societal biases and how we are conditioned. While tumblr has been better this season especially with time, tumblr (and esp other social media) sites often have much more sympathy for Wille over Simon, for example. Simon across sites gets a lot of undue downright vile comments from the fandom, or is just disregarded more. Part of this could be because Wille is the main character, and Simon's perspective was not shown super well in season 2, but Simon/Omar often get a lot of comments that aren't unsimilar to the racist and vile comments we saw Simon get in the show. It made me wonder- if Wille had not been white, if he had been black, would people still have found as much sympathy for him during his angry outbursts? How strange that many people seem to find sympathy for Wille and even August, but not for Simon, even though if we are being realistic...Simon is an equally complex character that has not done many bad things? How interesting that people barely discuss Felice's storyline, but there are people that gag over the rich white kids, stederika and henry/walter (especially after Felice's storyline this season, and when we have Rosh as a canon sapphic lower class girl). How wild that the girls' storylines- Felice and Sara's- are disregarded? People often act like Wille and Simon have gotten the same amount of hate, but if you've been in this fandom long enough and seen the overall situation, I think people know that Wille is favored over Simon overall, and the hate/disregard they get is not equivalent, especially considering Simon is the second lead.
I'm not saying all of this is due to prejudice, or that everyone who has ever done these things is an awful person, it's more just an observation that if we are honest with ourselves, hidden biases certainly play a role in ALL of our thoughts/behaviors. Even for those who may not actively engage in it, do we enable it? And with a show like Young Royals that is attempting to (not always succeeding, but an attempt was made this season) to critique these social structures of racism and classism, wouldn't it be nice if, as we go into this final episode, we look inwards and see what biases we may carry that affect our perception of this show, and more importantly, real life? Life imitates art, after all.

unnecessary spiral time because we have time before the season, haha if stella is simon's mirror and frederika is wille's mirror, and stella doesn't end up with frederika but with rosh (and if rosh represents simon's brain is it like his brain is saying he can't be with wille) what does that say about wilmon, haha so funny everything is fine

Idk, i feel kinda empty. I guess the ending wasnt exactly what i hoped for. Like i kinda wanted Wille to not abdicate but dude did not want that shit so it makes sense and im happy about it. It was eating him alive.
Simon is a small town boy in big arcade and i love that for him
I guess in a another universe theres king Wille or just prince Wille and king Erik
Also Sara is awesome and Felice
I dont care about August
10/10 life changing experience, loved every second of it

YR ACTOR AU HEADCANONS S1 PART 1
(the actors have the same name as their characters. Personality wise, most are similar too. Young Royals is a show in this universe)
sara and simon are cousins in real life
wilhelm actually first saw simon singing at a pub a while before auditions, but he doesn't admit this until promo for the second season
nobody else knew that simon could sing! for the first choir scene, the film crew were wondering if they should find a singer to sing the song, while simon could lip-sync it. they suggested this to him, and he agreed...UNTIL sara pestered him to genuinely sing and then he proved that he has an amazing voice (and this is a story that is brought up in a fair amount of interviews).
they had to buy a few purple hoodies bcos they kept going missing (simon kept stealing them)
felice has her own show as a chef, and this is how a casting director first spotted her
stederika weren't originally planned to be a couple in the show. but the actors were already dating and the scriptwriters thought it would be a great idea to include it in the show.
wilhelm purposefully messes up during kissing scenes with Simon so they could do them again
felice, stella, frederika and sara choreograph tiktok dances to major songs in the soundtrack. these songs go viral!
sara does in-depth character analysis in interviews
wille breaking the fourth wall was an accident that, after a short amount of consideration, they loved and continued to do.
the first person to hint at the show was August, who said at an interview with Buzzfeed: 'i'm excited to play a character that fans may not like straight away...or at all'
in fact, the first person to be casted was August!
the quickest person to be casted was Kristina.
the scripts are given episode by episode, but August and Sara were the only actors who knew from the start that they'd be an 'item of sorts' by the end of s1.
promo began when actors put the word 'REVOLUTION' in their social media bios !
the fans are (mostly) quite respectful and dont openly ship wilmon in real life.
UNTIL they start noticing a pattern in interviews of wille staring at simon and simon always looking at wille first when the group has a laugh
#wilmonisreal is a collective cast joke
ofc, wille slowlyy develops a crush on simon
simon is oblivious :)
the idea of simon wearing pyjama pants plaid trousers in the show first started because simon woke up VERY late one day and rushed to set still wearing half of his pyjamas....
young royals helped nils come to terms with his sexuality
in the first cast party, everyone almost sees walter naked
vincent is almost always the first to pass out at these parties

Also I like that they kept the characters still flawed in s2. Vincent is still a bully, Stederika still gossiping, August is still unredeemable. I hate when shows try to make the characters more likeable
Yes! The consistency is impeccable. They added depth to characters while still keeping true to them.
Vincent is still a bully. But we also see that power corrupts him. At first he doesn't even consider turning on August. But then Wilhelm suggests it and the other boys back him, so he does. And then that power gets to his head and he becomes insufferable.
Stella and Fredrika are still gossips. We learn, though, that they have been best friends since middle school. They've been telling each other everything for years. Of course they would feel comfortable gossiping with each other. We also learn that they are 100% in love with each other and scared. Depth and reasoning behind their incessant need to talk about everyone's life except their own.
And August stays irredeemable. He stays prideful and arrogant. We see him in the beginning of the season being quite regretful of his actions as he enters his relationship with Sara. She helps build him up and brings that self esteem back. It brings his importance back. And then the royal court adds to that by making him next in line after Wilhelm. We see that he is capable of regret and remorse. He just chooses not to better himself.
God I love this show. I love the characters. I love the development. Even development in the side characters is amazing and it feels realistic. I adore this show.

Hey Zee! (Also the urge for the brain to brain is so real)
I just wanted your thoughts on a Stederika-Wilmon double date because my brain is just rotating incoherent scenarios like a microwave (but I do picture Felice tagging along)
~heartbreakprincewille
Ah wait a double date would be so cute for them. I can see them going to get pizza or seeing a movie. Maybe both. I feel like their double date become a regular thing. Thursday Night is Date Night or something. Felice tags along in the beginning because Stella and Fredrika are still finding their footing, and Wilhelm and Simon are newly public, so her being there puts everyone at ease. Eventually she starts going less and less so that it's only the two couples. Then, when she gets into a good relationship of her own, she starts joining them for triple dates.
Here are some possible dates I can see the four (or five or six) of them going on:
Movies
Pizza
Mini Golf
Rosh's Football Games
They tried karaoke once but ran into Marcus and spent the whole night hiding behind menus.
Bowling
School Dances
Laser Tag
Parties
Some fancy ass dinner Wilhelm was forced to go to but somehow convinced the others to go with him.
Spa Nights.
Feel free to add ladies, gents, and non-binary friends.
ask me things because my brain needs to brain.

I just wish stederika weren’t horrible people. I keep thinking about all the shit they’ve done and i just can’t get into them as a couple :( I would have preferred salice tbh
Okay, but by that logic wouldn't you also hate Salice? Because Sara is a bad person, or at the very least, she's a person who did bad things. She has done worse things than Stella or Fredrika have ever done on screen.
You cannot equate moral goodness with a willingness to gossip. And you also cannot equate moral goodness with a capacity for love.
Stella and Fredrika are not bad people because they choose to gossip. Are they mean sometimes? A little. They're teenagers. They're all mean. But do you really think Felice would choose to be friends with bad people? My guess is no, considering how quickly she cut off Sara.
I'm sorry, anon, I'm trying to see where you're coming from. But like... the logic is not logic-ing.
