Bjo Trimble is the First Lady of Star Trek. She and her husband, John, organized the original Save Star Trek campaigns that kept the original series on the air for the third season in the 1960s. She edited and published the Star Trek Concordance, the amazing reference work that predated our Encyclopedia. She and John organized countless conventions, art shows, and other fannish events, including the legendary Equicon.
In 1976, she mobilized fandom to persuade President Gerald Ford to name the first space shuttle, Enterprise. Bjo's daughter, Laura, reminds us that Bjo turns 90 on August 15th.
She probably won't see birthday greetings posted on social media, but if you're grateful to her, too, you might consider sending a birthday card to her at

I know I’m being a choosy beggar but I want Garashir to be canonized in live-action. I need to see two real people on that screen, really holding hands and kissing and being in love with each other. I want to see Andy and Sid bring Garak and Bashir back to life again and see the happiness on their faces knowing that Garashir is finally, irrevocably real.

This right here is EXACTLY why I’m ambivalent at best about Star Trek Legacy. I don’t need to see the old characters again, or their kids. I want to see new characters. Picard had new characters, but they ditched them to bring back the TNG crew. Discovery was all new characters. Strange New Worlds added new characters, and most of the old ones they brought back (M’Benga, Chapel, Number One) were so undeveloped by TOS they were just names and faces.
Like any fandom based on a sixties show cancelled after three seasons, Trek is heavily nostalgic. But it doesn’t have to ONLY be nostalgic.

Anyone else getting really disillusioned with Trek lately? Disco cancelled without notice, Paramount's greedy business decisions and not just canning Prodigy but removing it entirely, Picard's queer erasure... I'm just... like it hurts not only because these are shows I care about but it hurts extra because trek is specifically about being better than bigotry and greed. But we're on the precipice of something and I don't feel like it's something good.
Like, I really wonder if we're about to enter a "no gays in trek" period again. Matalas apparently worked very closely with Rick Berman back in the '90s and if you're not aware of all the bullshit he instituted you can check out this post. Discovery is great for queer rep, but of course it's ending after the fourth season. Picard completely erased the Seven/Rafi relationship. Like, they didn't just needlessly break them up, they went out of their way to keep them from being on camera together too much. Strange New Worlds has potentially two queer characters, Ortega and Chapel, but so far I don't think it's been confirmed on screen that either of them are queer (IIRC, the only mention was in "Spock Amok" where they mentioned something about having a great night with some girls but only in a way that could easily be dismissed by someone who didn't want to acknowledge their queerness).
And I just feel like Paramount looked at it's audience and thought to themselves It doesn't look like we'll be able to keep both the old cishet white men and everyone else so we'll have to pick one and they chose the men. So right now, I'm afraid for Ortega's life. I fully expect them to either not let her be canonically gay or if they do she'll be dead within the episode. I'm afraid that when we finally get a Captain Seven show, they won't let their show lead be a queer woman, and it'll mostly be about Jack saving the day.
And I'm just... what do you do when the show that is explicitly supposed to be about taking a "special delight in differences in ideas and differences in life forms" basically says they don't want you anymore?

This was such a powerful image to see. I wish it was just a couple of seconds longer.

This will be such a powerful show if we are lucky enough to get it.

i need more of the prodigy kids spiritually being voyager’s children vis-a-vis their mentorship by holo janeway, who holds voyager’s legacy in code. rok picks up orchid gardening when she discovers her passion for biology. gwyn chooses a vulcan meditation program favored by tuvok. jankom begins to try harebrained schemes to experiment on the engine in the vein of b’elanna and harry’s endless tinkering. zero plays opera records during their puzzle holodeck sessions. dal reads through chakotay’s written diaries he found in his cabin. i’m so tired of people insisting you need a blood link to old characters to be important. why isn’t prodigy considered the star trek: legacy everyone wants already?

Among the Borg children, my favorite was Mezoti. Look at this little terror:

And then the next time we see Harry:

Considering what happened to Icheb, I am glad that Mezoti didn't join them in the Alpha Quadrant.
But, Mezoti seemed very attached to Seven:

Eventually, Mezoti is persuaded or decides to join the twins and leave Voyager.

TLDR, one of the things I hope we get to see in a Legacy show is Mezoti going to the Alpha Quadrant in search of Seven of Nine.
She hears about the ex-Borg Starfleet Captain.
---
"The ship is hailing us, Captain."
Seven frowned and shared a look with Raffi, they were on the edge of the Beta Quadrant and farthest from any known planets.
"Onscreen," Raffi ordered.
A young woman appeared onscreen and Seven blinked, immediately cataloging the young woman as Norcadian. The facial structure...
"I'm Captain Seven of the Federation Starship Enterprise."
The young woman smiled, "I know. "
Seven blinked when she finally connected the physical age of the young woman and her species--
"My designation is Mezoti. I have come a long way to find you--" Raffi's eyebrows rose. Seven could only stare, stunned.
"Mother."
"What?!"
