as for npmd (characters who have a speaking role): brenda. hearing her talk the first time made my soul float out of my body. i didn't recognize it as bryce; i thought they genuinely got a teenager to be brenda. it just took me off guard how real she was. compared to everyone else matching their stereotype, brenda acts like. a regular teenager

For a movie featuring basically zero explicitly queer characters, Across the Spider-Verse was pretty fucking queer.

PINK SPIDERS

Every single time I rewatch npmd I pick a new character to project onto and make aroace lol. First watch was Jason, second was Richie and third time around was Stacy. Partially because she just has The Vibe (to me anyway) but also because of way overthinking the line: “yeah, money isn’t everything. Looks are!” Maybe she doesn’t feel romantic and sexual attraction but she does feel aesthetic attraction so she just assumes that people date each other because they find each other pretty. Maybe she said it to try and blend in because all of her friends are hung up on looks and always talking about how hot people are and she doesn’t want to be the odd one out. And then the way she gets way more excited/invested talking about the big game coming up than anything else in the conversation and so excited to show Steph their new cheer. It’s almost as if she doesn’t quite understand why being stood up would be so upsetting for Steph because she doesn’t want anyone to take her to Pasqualli’s, she just wants to cheer and have fun with her friends and vibe. Also her and Brenda have had one fight in their whole friendship and it was because she didn’t get why it was such a big deal that Max wouldn’t let her date Kyle. They made up and she admitted she doesn’t like anyone like that and Brenda was just like “okay, cool” and she was so relieved her bestie doesn’t think she’s weird for it.

Summary:

“HOLY SH-” Miles and Gwen simultaneously turned to cover Pav’s mouth so as to not alert the creature in the middle of the carnage below them. The creature either didn’t hear him or it was too preoccupied with whatever it was doing. To his regret Miles soon realized what that was, as another wet snapping noise broke the silence once more. The creature was crouched down on all fours over what Miles assumed was the body of an officer, though it was so mutilated that it was hard to tell for sure. Its head was buried into the chest of the body beneath it, another wet snapping noise emerging as it pulled out a couple of ribs between its bloodied jaws... Or The Spider-Gang goes looking for Hobie. They don’t like what they find.

i really like to imagine Miles, or any spider-person really, wearing normal glasses over their mask because their lenses are way too big so it just looks like if you drew a line through a huge circle. also it’s of no use to anyone in the situation unless you wanted to laugh bc the lenses that already act as prescription glasses having glasses that aren’t the actual prescriptions on top of them is sure to fuck up their vision
