Okay, after watching several Who Framed Roger Rabbit reaction videos, clips from Dimension 20's Mentopolis, and rewatching Shipwrecked's The Case of the Gilded Lily, I believe I'm in the right headspace to do this, so let's get cracking:
In 1930s Hollywood, Priscilla Grey (Prisoner) and Skip Gallant (Skeptic) are private investigators who are trying to keep their business afloat, alongside their long-suffering secretary, Sienna Shade (Spectre). They've been working together ever since Skip took on Priscilla as a client and proved that she was being framed for a crime she didn't commit, and while they've been getting along so far, tensions are running high as business is starting to slowly dry up... until someone new walks into their office.
Dr. Percy Noble (Paranoid) is a biologist who's recently made a breakthrough in his research, but he's realized that it could lead to something incredibly dangerous, so he hid it away. He knows full well that by doing so, he's likely angered some very influential people, not to mention his boss, Jonathan Echo (Narrator). To make matters worse, he's been being followed for the past few days, and he has no idea who they are. Percy's got nowhere else to turn, and he needs the help of Grey & Gallant Investigations... and the story kicks off from there.
Priscilla and Skip's agency owes a lot of their previous notoriety to the fact that their respective twin siblings, Danielle Grey (Damsel) and Simon Gallant (Smitten), are famous movie stars and a Hollywood "It" couple... who are secretly in a lavender marriage. In reality, Simon's in an on-again, off-again relationship with Sienna's brother Colin (Cold), and Danielle's everything but legally married to Willow Chase (Witch), a singer at a club called the Swindler's Den.
The Swindler's Den is owned by a man named Oliver Teagues (Opportunist), who's got a lot of glitz and glam but is also a bit of a shady type, and doesn't do a lot for free. The only person he seems to trust is his faithful bouncer and business partner, Scully Boone (Stubborn). Scully's got a lot of rumors swirling around him about his past, though if you ask him about it, he'll punch your lights out.
There are two people out there who are both Priscilla and Skip's greatest allies and biggest obstacles---Sergeant Harry Knight (Hero), a cop who acts as their insider on the force yet is constantly worried about them getting in over their heads, and Conrad Tracy (Contrarian), a flashy reporter who always ends up writing brilliant news stories about their cases... though, he often winds up publishing stuff about the cases when they're in the middle of them, which is definitely a challenge when they need to be doing secret stuff. Harry's usually working alongside a sharp-eyed detective named Hunter Doyle (Hunted), who's well known for his impeccable survival instincts... and his jumpiness. Still, though, he's good at his job.
Over the course of their career, Priscilla and Skip have come across several criminals---some good intentioned, some bad intentioned. Among those are Stace Racket (Stranger), an art thief famous for their disguises and habit of only taking from other thieves; Chester Dunnagan (Cheated), a pickpocket who would probably be a lot more successful if it wasn't for his constant string of bad luck; and Addison Vernon (Adversary) and Zora Ray (Razor), the cutthroat ringleaders of a organization known as the Crimson Daggers and largely regarded as the power couple of the criminal underworld.
And on the flip side of things, Grey & Gallant Investigations has done several cases for the rich and wealthy, with varying results. Some of their most prolific have been Gary Quinn (Long Quiet) and Samantha Prince (Shifting Mound), who are the execs at Danielle and Simon's studio; Natalie Monroe (Nightmare) a flighty young socialite who makes a habit out of getting herself into increasingly dangerous scrapes for the thrill of it, and Titania Brightower (Tower), an old-money actress who demands power and respect from pretty much everybody. Titania's never seen without her pet cheetah Beatrice (Beast), and tailing after her is her constantly stressed and beaten-down husband, Benjamin Kells (Broken).
I still gotta figure out the story here... but I'll be damned if figuring out everything wasn't fun.

Carla Bley: The Top 25 icons in Jazz history
Table of Contents
Carla Bley: The Top 25 pearls in Jazz history
One of the finest and most productive of all female jazz instrumentalists, bandleaders and composers is Carla Bley. From her sprawling jazz opera Escalator Over The Hill to her arrangements for Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, and from her Big Carla Bley Band to her trio with saxophonist Andy Sheppard and bassist Steve Swallow, she has made her mark on all sizes of composition and ensemble. This ten-piece band toured in the 1980s and catches her iconoclastic reworking of gospel and big band jazz.
Carla Bley: a life in Music
Carla Bley (born Lovella May Borg, May 11, 1936) is an American jazz composer, pianist, organist and bandleader. An important figure in the free jazz movement of the 1960s, she is perhaps best known for her jazz opera Escalator over the Hill (released as a triple LP set), as well as a book of compositions that have been performed by many other artists, including Gary Burton, Jimmy Giuffre, George Russell, Art Farmer, John Scofield and her ex-husband Paul Bley. Every jazz fan knows the name of Carla Bley, but her relentless productivity and constant reinvention can make it difficult to grasp her contribution to music. I began listening to her in high school when I was enamored with the pianist Paul Bley, whose seminal nineteen-sixties LPs were filled with Carla Bley compositions. (The two were married.) My small home-town library also had a copy of “The Carla Bley Band: European Tour 1977,” a superb disk of rowdy horn soloists carousing through instantly memorable Bley compositions and arrangements. Some pieces change you forever. The deadly serious yet hilarious “Spangled Banner Minor and Other Patriotic Songs,” from that 1977 recording, celebrates and defaces several nationalistic themes, beginning with the American national anthem recast as Beethoven’s “Appassionata” Sonata. From the first notes onward, I was never quite the same again. The novelist and musician Wesley Stace has a similar story: “Aged sixteen, and full only of rock and pop music, I came upon Carla Bley by chance through a Pink Floyd solo project, Nick Mason’s ‘Fictitious Sports,’ which I only bought because the vocals were by my favorite singer, Robert Wyatt, once of Soft Machine. It’s a Carla Bley album in all but name: her songs embellished with brilliant and witty arrangements. I wanted to hear more. ‘Social Studies’ (also from 1981) thus became the first jazz album I ever bought, opening up a whole world I knew nothing about. ‘Utviklingssang’ is perfect, all gorgeous melody and abstraction, no words required. She’s everything I want from instrumental music.”
Tumblr media
In the last half decade, many of Bley’s remaining peers from the early years have died: Paul Bley, Charlie Haden, Roswell Rudd, Ornette Coleman, Paul Motian. At eighty-two, Bley is still composing and practicing the piano every day. But it also felt like it was high time to rent a car, visit a hero, and try to get a few stories on the official record. Bley and her partner, the celebrated bassist Steve Swallow (and another living link to the revolutionary years of jazz) live in an upstate compound tucked away near Willow, New York. When I drove up, Bley and Swallow were just coming back from their daily walk through the woodland. Their lawn boasts an old oak tree and a massive chain-link dinosaur made by Steve Heller at Fabulous Furniture, in nearby Boiceville. The home offers enough room for two powerful artists and their personal libraries, not to mention striking paintings by Dorothée Mariano and Bill Beckman. Bley’s upstairs study is stocked with hundreds of her scores and an upright piano, on which she played me her latest opus, a sour ballad a bit in the Monk tradition, with just enough unusual crinkling in the corners to prevent it from being too square. When we sat down to talk, Bley proved to be witty and surreal, just like her music. (Swallow is the house barista and fact checker.) Bley’s early development as an independent spirit is well documented in the excellent 2011 book “Carla Bley,” by Amy C. Beal. I began a little further along, and asked her about Count Basie in the late nineteen-fifties. “Count Basie was playing at Birdland, Basin Street, and the Jazz Gallery when I was working as a cigarette girl,” she said. “I got to hear him more than anyone else, and it was an education.” Basie is still her favorite pianist: “He’s the final arbiter of how to play two notes. The distance and volume between two notes is always perfect.” At the end of the decade, her husband, an associate of Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, and Sonny Rollins, wanted to play more as a trio pianist but lacked material. One day Paul Bley came to Carla and said, “I need six tunes by tomorrow night.” There’s an obvious thread of European classical music in early Bley compositions, and this fit perfectly with the sixties jazz avant-garde. Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman” is closer to a Mahler dirge than to Duke Ellington; Charles Mingus gave a deconstructed blues composition the European-style catalogue number “Folk Forms No. 1.” Many of Bley’s own pieces from that era have atonal gestures and abstract titles like “Ictus” and “Syndrome.” Among the many musicians listening carefully was Keith Jarrett, who told me that Paul Bley was, “Sort of like Ahmad with certain kinds of drugs.” Ahmad Jamal’s biggest hit was the D-major dance “Poinciana,” a bland old standard given immortality by Jamal’s rich jazz harmony and the drummer Vernel Fournier’s fresh take on a New Orleans second-line beat. Paul Bley’s recordings of Carla’s famous melody “Ida Lupino” have a G-major dance with a new kind of surreal perspective. When comparing “Poinciana” and “Ida Lupino” back to back, Jarrett’s comment—“certain kinds of drugs”—makes sense. However, while Ahmad Jamal had to use plenty of imagination when rescoring “Poinciana,” Paul Bley just needed to get the paper from his wife and read it down: Bley’s piano score of “Ida Lupino,” with inner voices and canonic echoes, is complete. Like many jazzers, I first heard of the film-noir icon Ida Lupino thanks to Bley’s indelible theme. I finally got to ask her about the title. “I just saw a few movies she did, and I thought she was sort of stripped and basic,” Bley said. “She didn’t have all the sex appeal that a female star should have. She was sort of serious. Maybe I felt a bond with her for that reason. I wanted to be serious. It wasn’t anything to do with her being the first female director. I learned that later.” Another significant early Bley work is “Jesus Maria,” first recorded by Jimmy Giuffre with Paul Bley and Steve Swallow for Verve, in 1961. Among the listeners inspired by this trio was Manfred Eicher, who reissued these recordings for ECM, in 1990. The reissue leads off with the rather classical “Jesus Maria,” where the pretty notes seem to suspend in the air, suggesting the famous “ECM sound” several years before the label was founded. I asked Eicher about Bley’s early compositions and he said, “There are so many of them, each as well crafted as pieces by Satie or Mompou—or Thelonious Monk for that matter. Carla belongs in that tradition of radical originality.” Bley was a radical, but she also sought structure. She told me about the early-sixties avant-garde: “In free playing, everybody played as loud as they could and as fast as they could and as high as they could. I liked them, but there was also what Max Gordon said about a bunch of guys screaming their heads off: ‘Call the pound.’ I think the music needed a setting. Just as it was, I thought free jazz needed work.” A key turned in the lock when Bley heard the roiling, church-inspired experimental tenor saxophonist Albert Ayler, who she says was, “Maudlin! Maudlin in the most wonderful way. He gave me license to play something that was really corny and love it.” Another watershed was “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by the Beatles, a suite of songs that form a bigger picture. “An artist friend of mine came over one day with this album,” Bley told me. “He said, ‘Jazz is dead. All the artists are listening to this. We don’t listen to jazz anymore. This is it.’ ”

im so sorry for asking but what's your take on stacee/gary fkgjflfj
NONE SORRY, thank you for sending! :D
personally I don't actively ship it but I think it's cute! the jpn/kr artists definitely helped convince me to think fondly of this ship with their incredible art. I think especially if they meet post their respective movies, they can help keep each other in check and stay sober. it's an interesting dynamic for sure and I'm always open to hearing more about them from people more invested 💙

Sabotage II
Finn looked up from his bike at the sound of a car pulling into his dad’s driveway and masked a grimace with a smile when he met Stacey’s eyes as she parked. His eyes slid off of her to the two kids emerging from the backseat, his smile instantly becoming genuine. He stood from his crouch and rubbed his hands on his jeans before holding his arms out.
“Oi, look who it is,” he called out, barely bracing himself as the two bolted into him, “Jesus, you’re growing too fast--nearly taller than me, Johnny.”
“That’s not saying much,” the girl piped up, Finn scrunching his nose at her.
“Watch it, Helena,” he said sternly, shooting her a wink, “How’re you?” He listened with wide eyes as his little cousins started talking simultaneously, trying to ignore Stacey until the last possible second. She cleared her throat, standing in front of them with her arms crossed.
“Hi Finny,” she began, her lips curling into a flirtatious smirk. He nodded back, forcing a smile. Before she could speak again, he looked down at the kids and raised his brows.
“Who wants a ride?” They shook their heads and his neck snapped back, an affronted look coming over his face.
“I’ll take one,” Stacey offered, her smirk widening and Finn’s cheeks reddened as he chuckled shakily.
“Thanks for bringing them by, Stace,” he said, his hands going to Helena and Johnny’s shoulders, “We’ll see ya Sunday, yeah?”
She nodded, her lips flattening as he brushed her off. She waved and backed a step, the three returning it as she turned and got back in the car. Finn kneeled down to the kids’ level and grinned.
“What’re we doing then?”
***
Rae bit her lip as she tuned her worn guitar, glancing over their shoddy open mic set-up.
With business slowing after Rob passed, they’d cut down on stock and made a small area for it. A couple tables and a makeshift stage was all that could fit but it helped profits, at least for awhile. Rae usually ended it off with a song or two and today was no exception, even with the sparse audience.
She strummed a chord, her mouth twisting as she adjusted the knobs. When she was satisfied with the sound, she cleared her throat lightly and began playing.
Good times for a change…
After being dragged around all of Stamford, Finn was hesitant when Helena insisted they stop into Town Records for the open mic, but he agreed, though Johnny was half asleep on Finn’s back. He rolled his shoulders and held onto him tighter as they entered the shop.
A brunette girl behind the counter looked to the door as it chimed and softly greeted them before returning to a corner stage. His gaze followed hers and he stopped in his tracks, Helena tugging on his arm fruitlessly.
Haven't had a dream in a long time
Rae’s eyes stayed low as she sang, her hair hanging in front of her face as she played. Finn was transfixed, her voice running over him and causing tingles down his spine. He felt goosebumps rise on his arms as she looked up and met his eyes briefly with a tiny smile.
So, for once in my life, let me get what I want
Lord knows it would be the first time
When the final notes rang out and she stood to a smattering of applause, Finn’s attention snapped back to his cousins with a jolt.
“Right, you two pick something out,” he said, bending to let Johnny down and lightly pushing them towards the record shelves. He inhaled deeply before approaching the stage. He offered a slight smile as she cleared the stage and faced him.
“Your voice is brilliant,” Finn blurted, wincing internally at his fervor. She blushed and breathed a laugh.
“Thanks,” she replied, their eyes meeting before she looked away to put her guitar away. Finn glanced over her open case, noticing several pictures and mementos inside.
“You and Rob were close?”
“Sorry?” He pointed to the pictures and she nodded with a slightly wistful sigh, “Oh. Yeah, we were...you knew him?”
Finn bit his lip and nodded, his shoulders lifting.
“Back in the day. I came in a lot in college.”
“Same,” she smiled before shaking her head as if to clear it, “Dunno where my head’s at. I’m Rae Earl.” She held out her hand to shake and Finn grasped it, holding it a beat too long.
“Finn Ne--Finn. Just call me Finn,” he stumbled over his words, deciding at the last second not to mention his surname. She smiled at him curiously and she half shrugged as she closed the case.
“Well, I’m glad you stopped in...I know it’s bit different than how Rob had it--”
“I like it,” he said quickly, his ears burning as she bit back a smile, “It’s different but in a good way.”
“When Rob left this place to me and his fiance, I knew I didn’t want it to lose it’s charm, y’know? Like I wanted to make it my own but Rob had such an influence and was so loved...I hope he’s somehow watching and proud of what it’s become.”
Rae knew she was banging on but Finn’s growing smile encouraged her to finish, “Music can really shape people, it’s something that can be so meaningful in so many ways and I just… I wanna do his memory justice.”
She reddened anew when Finn nodded, his lips pursed. He glanced over the shop before meeting her eyes again.
“Rob couldn’t have picked a better successor,” he stressed, his hand raising to his hair as she grinned, the entire room seeming to brighten.
“Finn, can we go home now? Johnny’s starting to whinge,” Helena broke in, tugging her little brother along. He rubbed at his eyes and Finn sighed as he picked him up, Rae stifling a laugh.
“Cute kids,” she said, Finn grimacing as his arms twined around his neck tighter, “Yours?”
“Fuck no,” he rushed out, Helena pushing at him with a scandalized gasp.
“Language, Finn Nel—“ He covered her mouth hastily, his other arm wrapped around Johnny’s back.
Rae laughed again, not seeming to catch the almost slip. He reluctantly let himself get pulled to the door, Rae still giggling behind them. She called out to him as Helena dragged him over the threshold.
“Laters, Finn!”
***
Saturday morning saw the grand opening of No Crap Entertainment and everything was going well--even better than Finn had expected. He and Chop surveyed the store from a small balcony, watching the bustle below.
“It’s busy, innit?” Chop said, looking over the crowd warily. Finn nodded and fiddled with his tie.
“Busy is good. Busy is money,” Finn said simply, swallowing against the knot in his throat, “Our rock section is limited...Town Records has us beat for sure.” Chop side-eyed him, his mouth twisting.
“Nice way to look at it,” he teased, Finn smirking and elbowing him.
“Y’know what I mean...Dad’s expectations are high.”
“This place is a well-oiled machine, my lad. You’ve got nought to worry about.”
Several blocks down, Town Records was like a ghost town. Saturdays normally held their best sales but business had dropped significantly. They all knew why but stayed silent, all preoccupied throughout the shop. Rae busied herself dusting the shelves and reorganizing while Chloe pored over financial records. Izzy alternated between her phone and tablet, tweaking their social medias and researching. Archie hadn’t shown up yet but he’d left a note for Rae that morning that he’d be in later.
As if on cue, the door chimed as it opened, Archie coming in with a girl behind him.
“Look who I ran into,” he announced, holding his arm up to present he and Rae’s mate from uni.
“Katie! Wow, it’s so good to see ya,” Rae pulled her into a hug, “Your new album’s dropping soon, yeah? We’ll have a signing for sure—“
“Never mind all that,” she waved a hand dismissively and held Rae’s shoulders, “Are you alright? I’ve been so worried.” Rae exchanged a worried glance with Archie.
“What d’ya mean?”
“Are you surviving? What, with this bloody music superstore opening—“
“There’s nothing to worry about,” Rae spoke over her bracingly, “We’re totally fine.”
“No change whatsoever,” Chloe added, Rae shooting her a look across the room. Katie pulled her into another hug and she stiffened, feeling her stomach start to churn.
***
“Who’re these people again?” Rae tugged on her skirt hem, a frown crossing her face as she and Archie walked arm in arm.
“I told ya, my dad’s best mate is getting remarried—I grew up with his son.”
“Have I met him?”
“I don’t think so, he moved to Leeds when we were in college,” Archie’s mouth twisted in thought, “I think my dad mentioned him coming back but I dunno…” he trailed off as they reached the front door and he raised his fist to knock.
The sound just barely registered in the din on the other side, with people milling about the house and music loud in the background but the door was opened in moments. Across the room, Finn barely glanced at it before turning back to his father, Felicity, and Olivia.
“First day profits were promising. I expect they’ll drop a bit after the initial hype but we should be in good shape,” Finn said, Gary nodding before sipping his beer.
“How’s the staffing?” Finn opened his mouth to reply and Felicity held up a hand to stop him.
“Let’s not talk business, boys. It’s a party,” she chastised, her arm wrapping around Gary’s waist. He beamed down at her and kissed the top of her head, Finn’s nose wrinkling as he smiled. He turned to Olivia beside him, his hand moving to her arm.
“Alright?” he asked, leaning closer as she nodded, “Y’need anything?” She shook her head and Finn’s eyes slid from her to survey the room, a frown crossing his face.
The Nelson family wasn’t expansive but Gary seemed to know near everyone in Stamford. Finn hadn’t really seen anyone here since childhood and it was equal parts comforting and horrible.
As great as seeing family and friends was, Stacey making eyes at him from the kitchen didn’t appeal. He quietly excused himself, his fingers already reaching into his jacket’s inner pocket for his rollies. He plucked one from the pack, sitting it between his lips as he neared the foyer. He stopped short, the cigarette hanging precariously.
Rae looked over the room as Archie reacquainted with a couple she’d already forgotten the name of and did a double take at the glimpse of Finn turning and moving quickly towards the stairs. Her brow furrowed and she extricated herself from Archie, whispering her need for the loo. He pointed to the stairs as Finn disappeared into a room and she hesitantly made her way up.
She stood on the landing for a minute, her lips flattening as she found the bathroom. After freshening up and adjusting her skirt once again, she stepped out just as Finn emerged from a bedroom, the faint smell of smoke barely masked by CK One.
“Hiya. It’s Finn...right?” Rae began, her brow furrowing as he nodded, keeping his eyes anywhere but on her.
“And you’re Rae,” he replied, a strangled smile forming on his face, “If you’ll excuse me…”
He bounded down the stairs, Rae watching him go. At the bottom, he brushed past a blonde who began to ascend the stairs, rolling her eyes. She faced Rae and raised her brows.
“That’s a Nelson for ya, eh?” she carped, huffing a bit as she reached the top, “All business, all the time.”
“Nelson? As in—“ Rae mumbled, thinking back to reading up on NCE and its affiliates. Nelson Properties had been front and center.
“As in the Nelsons who own half of Stamford? Spot on,” she scoffed, “Who’s party did you think you were at, sweets?” She snorted as she moved past her to the loo and Rae saw red. Before she could think about it, she was taking the stairs two at a time, searching the room for Finn. She found him near the kitchen and she stormed towards him.
“Nelson? Finn fucking Nelson?” Rae spat, moving to his side. He frowned, grasping her upper arms and pulling her off to the side.
“Keep your bloody voice down,” he hissed, his eyes narrowing, “What’s your problem?”
“My problem is you interfering in my business—“ Finn rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“That’s bollocks,” he retorted, his brow furrowing as Rae’s face twisted sourly.
“You knew all along! I bet you hired those kids—“
“The only reason I was even in Town was for the open mic,” he continued, “I don’t give a rat’s arse about your business, Rae. There’s room for more than one music shop in Stamford.”
“Right, because what Stamford really needs is more mainstream rubbish.”
“S’not mainstream—“
“Bollocks,” Rae mocked, crossing her arms. Finn leveled a glare at her.
“We offer real entertainment to the masses,” he asserted, leaning closer, “NCE will practically be like the Tesco’s of music—“
Rae laughed haughtily, shaking her head. “Corporate mainstream rubbish then.”
“I s’pose you’re the expert,” he sneered, Rae raising her brows at him.
“I know my music.”
“And I couldn’t possibly know mine?”
“Doubt it.”
Archie appeared to their side, his hand clapping to Finn’s shoulder.
“Finn! Long time, mate.” He wrapped an arm around his shoulders and Finn subconsciously embraced him in a quick hug, “I see you’ve already met my roommate. Rae, this is—.”
“I know exactly who he is,” Rae fumed. Finn met her eyes, Archie immediately feeling the ire between them and raising his hands as if to mediate.
“There you are! Your dad’s looking for you, love,” Olivia said, reaching to take his arm. She smiled at Archie and Rae, raising her brows at Finn, “Friends of yours?”
His hand rubbed the back of his neck as he cleared his throat and reluctantly introduced her, the simmering tension rolling over them in waves. Rae spared him a dark scowl before turning to Archie.
“I’ll see you at home, yeah?” At Archie’s stunned nod, she crossed her arms, feeling the burn from Finn’s stare as she strode away.

fknhangthedj78: Do you ever feel like you’ve become the worst version of yourself?
Finn blew a plume of smoke sideways out the window and glanced up from his laptop at the sleeping forms of Olivia and Digsy. He tapped ash off his rollie over the ledge and replaced it between his lips.
fknhangthedj78: I was rude and a complete knobhead to someone I like and respect and it’s eating at me. I could’ve handled the situation so much better but instead, I lashed out and brushed them off like their feelings meant nought.
Rae rubbed her eyes and ran a hand through her hair for what seemed like the millionth time that night. The strands began to stand on end as she yawned, the light from her laptop the only thing keeping her from dozing off.
snakebitesupernova: It’s the opposite for me. I get so stuck in the moment, so flustered that I can’t figure out what to say and end up driving myself mad later on with the what ifs. How do you handle someone trying to sabotage you? How do you respond to someone who acts or feels one way but directly contradicts themself?
Rae paused, her head tilting as she ran over her and Finn’s argument. She shook her head and continued.
snakebitesupernova: Even now, I’ve no fucking clue.
Finn jumped as his laptop chimed with a response and he gritted his teeth, lowering his volume as Digsy’s eyes blinked open. She jumped down from her spot on his pillow and padded over to him at the window, resting her head on Finn’s thigh. He scratched her behind the ears before answering.
fknhangthedj78: S’pose we could switch places--you get to be the arsehole for once while I keep my mouth shut.
He stopped, staring at the screen thoughtfully before typing again, his exhaustion overruling his sense.
fknhangthedj78: Do you reckon we should meet?

Wesley Stace has started "Community Coronation Covers," a project where he's sharing cover versions of his material performed by friends:
"A few weeks ago, we passed the time of our splendid self-isolation in a pleasant mutual spirit of community by making a list of other musicians who might possibly cover one my songs: some of the ideas were good, some perfect, and some supernatural."

McConnell wins reelection, but control of Senate at stake | National News

Arizona could see two Democratic senators for the first time since last century if former astronaut Mark Kelly maintains his advantage over GOP Sen. Martha McSally for the seat once held by the late Republican John McCain.
Even the open seat in Kansas, which hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1932, was being contested.
The biggest risks to Democrats were in Alabama and Michigan.
Republicans were expecting to reclaim the seat in Alabama, where Democrat Doug Jones pulled off a rare 2017 special election win in the Trump stronghold. Now, however, he was in an uphill campaign against Republican Tommy Tuberville, a former Auburn football coach.
In the presidential battleground of Michigan, Republicans have made an aggressive push for John James, a Black Republican businessman, against Democratic Sen. Gary Peters.
“It’s my honor to stand before you today, Michigan,” James said at a final rally late Monday on stage with the president. “It’s time for a change.”
As voters were still at the polls, Peters stayed on message Tuesday tweeting, “Today, health care is on the ballot.”
In Georgia, GOP Sen. David Perdue, the former business executive Trump calls his favorite senator, tried to stace off Democrat Jon Ossoff, another candidate who has benefited from the “green wave” of campaign donations.

Chocolate and Cuddles
Part 3 of Bella and her Boy
Written for @legendslikestardust‘s fluffuary bingo squares ‘chocolate’ and ‘cuddling’
Modern day AU, Campbell x Bella. Teen for swearing. TW for menstruation/ periods
Bella's not feeling well. Campbell has a solution.
AO3
Campbell poked his head around the door to Bella’s and Stacy’s room, feeling properly nervous for the first time since he’d arrived at Rylands House.
“Bella?” he called into the darkness of the room. “Are you alright?”
“Go away.”
He frowned at that.
“Bella?” he asked again, edging further into the room. “You missed breakfast. Stacy said you weren’t feeling well.”
“I’m not,” she mumbled back through the darkness, and Campbell could just about make out her shape in the gloom, hidden under her duvet. “An’ you’re not helping. Go away, Campbell.”
Instead, he stood there, dumbfounded, in the dark room.
“Have I done something?” he couldn’t help but ask. In the two months since he’d moved into Rylands House, he and Bella had become best friends, and he swore he hadn’t done anything to upset her, but now he wasn’t sure.
“Not everything’s about you, Campbell,” Bella huffed from beneath the duvet. “Just fuck off.”
“I have, haven’t I? I’ve upset you! What did I do?”
And then, Campbell heard footsteps behind him. He whirled round to see Mrs Rogers watching him from the doorway, a sympathetic look on her face, and a hot water bottle, bottle of water and packet of paracetamol in her hands.
“Why don’t you go back to your room, Campbell,” Mrs Rogers suggested gently. “Bella’s fine, she’s just not feeling great.”
He watched then as Mrs Rogers crossed the dark room and pulled back the duvet to reveal Bella. She coaxed the teenager into a sitting position, handing her the water and pain relief. Once Bella had taken the pain relief, Mrs Rogers relinquished the hot water bottle to her, and the teenager retreated back under the duvet. Campbell watched the whole thing in silence as everything slotted into place. Mrs Rogers then ushered him from the room, closing the bedroom door firmly behind them.
“She’ll be fine,” Mrs Rogers told him as she steered him away from the room. “She just needs some rest. She’ll hopefully be feeling better by dinnertime.”
Campbell snorted. “Except it’s not exactly a bug, is it?” he asked, shoving his hands into his pockets and trying to ignore the way his face heated up. “It’s not gonna go away, because it’s not an illness. Bella’s on her period.”
“It will only last a couple of days though,” Mrs Rogers assured him gently. “It’s not often it’s this bad for her, either. But she just needs to rest, Campbell.”
“Aye,” he muttered, walking away from Mrs Rogers.
~0~0~
Campbell had had plans. He and Bella had been planning on going out to the park, to take advantage of the fact that it was the first weekend since they’d met where they’d not had at least one piece of homework to do. Campbell had hoped they’d be able to spend the Saturday out and about, and Bella could take some photographs.
He hadn’t expected to be in the nearby shop, queuing to pay for a small selection of carefully chosen items. He’d gathered the pocket money he’d been saving up and headed to the shop shortly after Mrs Rogers had pretty much chucked him out of Bella’s room, and it had only taken a quick Google search to find the answer to the question he’d wanted answering.
By the time he’d got to the till and paid for his goods, Campbell was eager to get back to the home. Despite being told Bella just needed to rest- and the fact she’d told him to fuck off- he didn’t like the idea of her being alone while not feeling great. Stacy was off out- with a new boyfriend this time- so he saw no reason why he couldn’t hang out in Bella’s room and keep her company.
He walked back to Rylands as fast as he could, completing the four minute walk in just over three minutes. He made a quick stop off in the kitchen for some things and, ignoring all the other teenagers hanging about downstairs or on their way out- including Terry and Gary- he made a beeline up the stairs and towards Bella’s room. The carrier bag swung from his fingers as he walked. Reaching the door, he knocked twice and let himself in.
“I’m back,” he said as he slipped into the room.
He heard Bella grumble from under the duvet, but couldn’t make out what she’d said. So instead, he crossed to the bed and sat down on the edge, gently pulling the duvet back to reveal Bella’s face. She glared up at him from beneath her fringe.
“Thought I told you to fuck off,” she mumbled.
“Aye,” Campbell responded with a smile, “you did. Lucky for you, I don’t listen.” He held the carrier bag up for Bella to see then. “I bought some stuff.”
Bella eyed the bag with interest, before reluctantly pushing herself up into a sitting position.
“What is it?” she asked, one arm wrapped around the hot water bottle against her tummy.
Campbell grinned, and began to empty the contents of the carrier bag onto the duvet. He pulled out two big bars of chocolate, a share-size packet of crisps, and a tub of chocolate ice cream. Finally, he dropped the two spoons he’d taken from the kitchen on top of the ice cream tub.
“Where did you get this?” Bella asked, blinking at him.
“The shop,” he replied with a frown. “I just got back.”
Bella stared. “You went out and bought this?” she asked him, nodding at the food between them.
“Aye,” Campbell nodded, brow furrowed. “Why are ye surprised?”
She shrugged at him then, readjusting the hot water bottle.
“Dunno,” she mumbled. “Not exactly used to people doing this for me.”
It was Campbell’s turn to look a little uncomfortable then.
“Well,” he shrugged, “I didn’t like the idea of you staying in yer room all day on yer own. Thought we could hang out in here for the day.”
Bella looked at him. “You don’t mind not going out?” she asked him. “It’s a nice day, you don’t have to stay in.”
“Nah,” Campbell shrugged, and he reached for a chocolate bar, breaking the sweet up in the wrapper before opening it and offering her some. “I’d rather stay here with you.”
Bella shifted over in the bed then, and Campbell took the hint when she patted the space next to her. He tugged his trainers off and climbed into bed beside her, the food spread across their laps. It was a bit of a squeeze, in Bella’s single bed, but they managed it. Campbell was just reaching for the ice cream when she snuggled into his chest.
“This alright?” she mumbled into his t-shirt.
“Aye,” he managed once he’d processed just what was happening. “If it makes ye feel better.”
“It does,” Bella nodded, and she tilted her head to beam up at him. “But I’d feel even better if you opened the ice cream.
~0~0~
“We should probably go down for dinner.”
Campbell’s voice cut through the room like a knife, and Bella made a small noise in protest.
“I’m comfy here,” she told him, sounding a little put out.
“Aye,” he agreed, “but you didn’t eat breakfast. All you’ve had is chocolate and ice cream.”
Bella screwed her nose up at the reminder.
“I suppose,” she admitted, glancing over at Campbell’s laptop screen. “You gonna finish that game first?”
He’d collected his laptop from his bedroom just before lunchtime- not that either of them went down for lunch- and he’d been playing games on it while Bella read through a book for class. They had eventually opened the curtains, and she was feeling a lot better than she was that morning. She thought it was the food Campbell had bought. He was insisting it was because he gave amazing cuddles. Bella couldn’t really disagree with him there, so she let him have it.
“Mrs Rogers won’t like it if we don’t eat a proper meal, I suppose,” Bella continued after a moment, but she still made no effort to move.
Campbell was about to reply when the bedroom door opened and Stacy was in the doorway, grinning at them.
“I’ve been sent up to get you for dinner,” she told them. “But if you’re busy...”
Bella rolled her eyes at her roommate. “We’re full dressed, you knob.”
“Well, that’s disappointing,” Stacy retorted, waggling her eyebrows at them before sobering. “Seriously though, Mrs Rogers said you have to come down for dinner. She knows you’ve been hiding up here with junk food.”
Bella sighed at that, and reluctantly began to shift towards the edge of the bed. Campbell watched her, a little forlorn about having to leave the room and actually go down and talk to the others.
“I’ll meet you down there,” Bella told him as she got out of bed and crossed to the wardrobe.
“Why?” he asked in confusion.
Stacy snorted from the doorway. “She’s not dressed, you twat. How did you not notice that she’s in her pyjamas?”
Campbell blinked, and looked back over at Bella, who was now watching him in amusement.
“In my defence, we were under the duvet,” he said eventually as he closed his laptop down.
“Yeah, ‘cause that sounds so much better,” Stacy told him with a grin. “I dare ya to tell Mrs Rogers that.”
Campbell flushed red at that, and Bella took pity on him.
“Stop winding him up, Stace,” she told her roommate with a pointed look. She then turned back to Campbell. “Go on, just let me get changed and I’ll meet you downstairs.”
He packed up his laptop and charger and headed for the door then, but stopped in the corridor.
“He’s waiting in the hallway, Bella,” Stacy told her with a grin.
“Good,” Bella responded as she pulled her pyjama top off. “You can too.”
Stacy sighed, and let the door swing shut behind her.
