-((I rp Xi on discord with a friend, and this series is one of my favorite Manhuas. The Dunhua sadly didn't go well in the second season, and so the artist/writer of the series said there will never be another season.

-One misconception about Ling Qi is everyone thinks it is an Anime, and you can only find the Japanese dub on disk anymore. Which means Xi's name is different. It was translated to Ki Tanmoku. So when I watch the dub it confuses the heck out of me.

-The Manhua is still on going, and there are chapters every week. Sadly this series is not popular enough to get translated into English, unless fans do it.

-You should check the series out. But if you check the Dunhua out, remember there is never going to be a season 3. Not to mention the art changed from season 1 to 2. It wasn't too bad, but you can still notice it.))

Ling Qi/Spiritpact 120 Translation Progress

Working with @the-metal-ravenclaw on 120 currently. The translations are finished, it’s now at the stage of cleaning up pages and typesetting. Got three pages done, and will aim to finish the remainder tomorrow. 

We work back and forth with the translations, grabbing the text for OCR then run it through different MTLs to work out the best meaning/translation. Sometimes the translations are easy, but other times it is difficult to work out an English equivalent for Chinese sayings. 

One phrase here as Xi is walking away is saying 「 时间不够 」where my understanding is that this phrase can be read in two ways, one not having enough time (time available in day) and also time left. We have had to leave this though as “I don’t have enough time” as it is supposed to be an ambiguous phrase. 

I wanted to share this little behind the scenes as neither myself nor @the-metal-ravenclaw​ are native Chinese speakers, and this is why we take a bit more time with doing the translations. :)

In today's episode: Duanmu family has always sucked. Especially when you were born as a twin, share the spiritual power with your sibling and as such don't have enough to be a Yangminsi in the future.

So the Duanmu family of course had to invent a "workaround", especially in case one of the twins had far better powers but also a far weaker body...

The surgery was successful (... probably?) but Xi doesn't look like he's happy with being back to living 😭 Spiritual world therapy is necessary! JINGHUA, WHERE ARE YOU.

Also, I'm working now on improving the older translation files! I finished putting them in a more convenient for reading order (oldest - newest) and now I'll be adding pages to those, starting from season 2.

I actually tried to do the rearranging with GPT's help but that didn't work. I've spent time improving my prompt so GPT wouldn't change the sentence order and add proper formatting but GPT then kept breaking down after the second chapter (out of four in the testing stage). And then it kept starting again from the beginning...and breaking down after 2 chapters. And starting again.

So I've decided it will be faster to just rearrange the chapters myself.

I finished adding pages to the season 2 file, it went much faster than I thought. And I refreshed what happened in season 2, by the way - here are some of the funniest Jinghua's faces from season 2.

I'll be doing season 3 next, though this one might take me much more time. It's the second oldest file after (updated and corrected) season 2 file, so I should probably check and update the translations as well.

Well, a lot has happened this chapter. And as usual, not telling people important details about his plans ends up blowing Xi in his face. He's so smart and yet he's utterly unable to learn "poor communication kills", even though he gets hit with it EVERY SINGLE SEASON.

The chapter definitely confirms that Jinghua is the brains of the duet. Sure, whatever he planned to do absolutely didn't go according to Keikaku but he DID put a safety valve in place! Tata, now you have some explaining to do!
