Magenta or Green When Alastor Desires to be Seen
After rewatching the pilot and the scenes where Alastor is singing, I realized his palette swaps may be emotionally/situationally dependent. At first I thought, “Yeah, this is just a callback to the pilot where he sang with Charlie,” but I think it’s deeper than that.
In both instances of singing with the Morningstars, Alastor is seen to have a palette change.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he has the duet with Vox, he stays in his original color palette for the entire number.
Once is coincidence and twice is a pattern. When the color green is so engrained in Alastor's abilities, it's difficult not to notice.
When he’s in the presence of someone he considers powerful, he puts in that extra effort to change appearances. If it was only for production sake, he could have remained in his usual red outfit with a different background color to push him forward like in Stayed Gone. Even then he was still on a red background most of the time.
Tumblr media
Both of these performances take place within the Hotel, which has become Alastor’s domain. Even then, at the end of Stayed Gone, he was in his radio tower in the Hotel. There were no special effects and Alastor only showed off his demon form.
When Alastor feels like he needs to posture, he changes his color. In the pilot, he demonstrates his strength by changing everyone’s outfits, manipulating the environment and summoning demons under his control. That really means that Vox isn’t shit but an annoyance to him. And I think that's hilarious.
Alastor at the end of his breakdown is enshrouded in green.
Tumblr media
When he gets upset with Husk, the chains are green. When he makes deals with both Vaggie and Charlie a green outline is around their hands, within the walls, spreading in the cracks of his face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost like a poison dart frog, Alastor wants to be seen as a danger. He wants to be a warning sign. Always caring for his image, he desires to take attention away from his possible weaknesses. He was reborn as a deer in Hell which is something I and many others head canon that he's insecure about. His perceived lack of strength as a creature commonly considered prey is definitely a factor in how he portrays himself.
Tumblr media
Alastor's deep rooted insecurities led him to begin antagonizing Lucifer. He's held under strict contract with his deal and his power has been stifled. Alastor's dignity has been stripped away under these constraints, he's forced to follow orders when he yearns to be the one in control.
When Alastor is in that green and magenta state, he is posturing. This is his attempt at taking back his agency, showing that despite his situation and probably poor choice to have signed a deal with a currently unknown entity more powerful than him, he is still strong. He is the infamous Radio Demon, a sinner full of natural magical talent who took down countless Overlords within his first few weeks in Hell.
(Unless that happened due to his deal rather than his own ability and he postures to make up for that to get people believe that he is all powerful.)
Alastor only feels the need to do this in the presence of those who he considers a threat -- no matter how reluctant he may be to admit whether they are or not. To him, other Overlords, especially Vox, are considered low on his list. His first targets when he arrived in Hell were Overlords
Meanwhile, the Morningstars are a whole different ball game. Two holy entities that are ranked higher than him on the food chain are most definitely threats, so he tries to act unbothered and remain confident in his abilities.
For someone so adamant about hiding his emotions with a smile, he's certainly created a whole load of flashing tells for others to key in on his wavering mental state. Alastor is not as fortified in will as he claims.

Speculation Station: Eve is Lute
I have an idea for the Eve is Lute theory. Since Lucifer gave Eve the apple and in turn Lucifer and Lilith were punished, I think Heaven gave Eve a pass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She didn’t know how to resist temptation and was manipulated into taking the apple. If Heaven blamed her, she would have been cast into Hell alongside them, but there is no mention of Eve in Hell.
Heaven deemed Lucifer a troublemaker because of his grandiose ideas.
Tumblr media
They believed he was going to threaten the order of their world long before he had given humanity free will. They were waiting for a chance to banish him.
With this one action, that’s when the higher ups decided to get rid of him and Lilith who was alive.
Don’t forget that she was there at the time Lucifer gave Eve the apple. Lilith hadn’t died yet. By banishing her to Hell, Heaven had basically killed her, if you really think about it.
So what of Eve? She was left out of the sentencing in the origin story.
Tumblr media
Yes, you could point out that Charlie wouldn’t know what happened since Lucifer and Lilith were banished before Heaven dealt with Eve.
But if she ended up in Hell, Lucifer would know. So, the blame for the original sin was placed on Lucifer and Lilith rather than Eve.
It would absolutely make sense if Eve was put on probation. Heaven kept a careful watch of her during her tenure on Earth. Even while she had free will, Heaven considered her worthy enough.
Unless purgatory exists in the Hazbin universe and we have yet to see it. Sera mentions divine judgement and that it doesn’t happen in Heaven, since she doesn’t know how souls get to Heaven.
Nor does she mention knowing how divine judgement works. If it was this all holy process, she would brag about how it happens as she and Saint Peter bragged about how great Heaven is.
But I digress, unlike the actual Bible, there’s no mention of Eve offering Adam the apple.
If she thought eating the apple was something worthwhile, she would have also given it to Adam. So, instead of spreading sin, she kept it contained.
There isn’t any criteria that we know of for humans to get into Heaven after death.
Hazbin may possibly be going the Lucifer (The Fox turned Netflix series) route in terms of redemption. If you have seen the series, you know what I mean.
I’m going to go into more detail in another post, but as of now there are a few possibilities (none confirmed, just speculation):
Resolution of guilt
Self satisfaction (you don’t believe you did anything bad in life)
Selflessness (You live your life to better others lives)
Someone else is punished for your sin in your place
Those are only a few things I could think of as of now. I’ll explain later.
Now, onto why I think she’s most likely Lute. Lute considers sinners to be irredeemable, which may be her projecting. She is so disgusted by herself for falling for Lucifer’s ploy to get her to eat the apple. She tries to separate herself from who she was on Earth.
So, she prides herself on the fact she can combat the evil that stemmed from Lucifer’s tricks. She tries to be the best at it. Both her and Adam have this Holier Than Thou attitude, and I don’t think that’s only because they got into Heaven.
I think she’s fond of the exterminations because she’s getting revenge against Lilith, the woman who helped sew the original sin into the Earth. Lute gets to take from her because she believes Lilith tainted her.
Lute is extremely spiteful. She hates the fact sinners caused so much pain on Earth and get to live relatively consequence free in Hell.
So the exterminations combat that. She wholeheartedly supports the event year after year.
Lute still displays the behaviors that would come with eating the forbidden fruit.
In life, she wasn’t held accountable and Lucifer went to Hell in her place. After passing judgement, she got to revert back to her normal self. She displays the behavior of a sinner.
Lute is judgmental, prideful, and egoistic just to name a few — she may not have every characteristic, but it’s enough to be considered for Hell.
(Like what did that child Vaggie spared even do? Are there kid checklists like if they like steal a toy they go to hell?)
Lute has motivations other than just believing that since she is an angel, it’s her duty to keep Hell’s population low. Outside of that one reason, this seems personal to her. It makes sense for the reason for this is that she was Eve.
Tumblr media
Lute sticks close to Adam, doesn’t mind that he gets to be with other women as long as he’s happy, and even after the exterminations they’re still seen together, so it’s deeper than a working relationship.
Eternity is a long time, it makes sense that they would experiment.
Tumblr media
I felt that I had to mention this since this is a large part of why I began to think Eve was Lute, but that’s not the main basis of my theory. It’s Lute’s actions so far and how she remains adamant to keep killing sinners and firmly believes that Hell is where they’re meant to be.
Lucifer was the sacrifice for Eve’s entrance into Heaven.
She pins the blame on him, as does Heaven. Eve never had to show any qualities of goodness, and puts the responsibility of being an exterminator on herself as some sort of penance.
Or she just enjoys murder.
She doesn’t show any sign of guilt, only malice and a feeling of superiority so far.
There are a lot of holes in this, but hey, I’m just throwing this out there. Maybe some of it will be right or all of it will be wrong. Only time will tell.

Speculation Station: Lilith Recruited Alastor?
7 years seems to be a very common timespan between two characters: Lilith and Alastor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As soon as I heard Vox note that Alastor was gone for 7 years and that Lilith was gone for the same amount of time, I realized that there had to be some correlation.
Alastor turns up after 7 years and suddenly an exterminator was killed. Lilith disappeared 7 years ago and now Charlie created the hotel. Something isn’t adding up.
These two may have been involved in some way or there was an event that occurred 7 years ago that led powerful sinners to have to go into hiding. But if I were to assume Lilith and Alastor made contact with each other in those years, I’d assume Lucifer would know about it.
These two may have been involved in some way or there was an event that occurred 7 years ago that led powerful sinners to have to go into hiding. But if I were to assume Lilith and Alastor made contact with each other in those years, I’d assume Lucifer would know about it.
Tumblr media
Hell I slowed down that clip multiple times to makes sure he wasn’t just looking at Charlie and Vaggie, but his head was turned a bit far back. I’m 75 percent sure he was looking at Alastor with amusement.
And Alastor remains as robotic as distant as usual. That doesn’t give much away, but humor me. Let’s believe Lucifer was looking for the sake of my delusion.
Why would Lucifer care about some overlord? He’s the king of hell, he might not even care to look his way. Unless he had something do to with his wife, which puts a whole new perspective on things.
I don’t know what Lucifer’s personality is like outside of that leaked clip I saw (Since the episode is out, it was the base animation for Lucifer singing "Champagne fountains, caviar mountains") but you can only tell so much based on a voice.
But if he doesn’t even know what his daughter is up to or that she even has a girlfriend, there’s definitely some form of neglect. Or he’s just busy, Charlie is an adult after all. He was cognizant enough to get her a meeting with Adam, but that was after the news broadcast.
Why did it take the news for him to take action? Was it just the news or was it also the fact that Alastor was in the picture? Was he watching over her from his throne?
There’s so much I still don’t know, and it’ll probably be revealed in due time. But I’m going to make a prediction that might be wrong, but I’m going to put it out into the universe anyway. Lilith killed the exterminator in the commotion and this is a way to get Charlie to take action and realize that fighting back may be the only solution to save Hell. Lilith cares for her people, the extermination caused the growth of hell to cease and she went away. Possibly to strengthen herself and find a way to kill angels.
Or, going back to the beginning of this thread where I stated an event may have taken place to get them both to disappear for a while. Alastor wasn’t active in hell. I think that may have been out of pure boredom.
After killing all the old overlords and rising to power, he left, we know that much. And now for my delusional speculation. I think Lilith saw how powerful he was and asked for help. She wanted to protect her daughter and save demon kind.
This is why Alastor may have taken an interest in Charlie. Besides offhandedly seeing a broadcast about the hotel, he recognized her immediately and decided to show up to “help.” Now it could be argued that he just wants to make a deal with Charlie to further his power, but why would he suddenly appear to do that now?
Think about it, Charlie has been on her own for a while. Alastor was back around the time Charlie started the hotel, he was already in public when he saw the broadcast.
Even now he’s laying relatively low, not bringing attention to himself
by staying in the Hotel. By staying close to Charlie a majority of the time. If he cared to create an empire or become even more powerful, he has the ability to do so easily.
So why hasn’t he?
To keep tabs on her? To wait for her to give in?
It’s hard to say since he gives nothing away, frustratingly enough, but that’s why I love Alastor, he’s a puzzle and nothing will be revealed until he deigns it so with a witty comeback and a smile.
The only thing that will kill this theory on arrival is if Lucifer has no idea where his wife is. If Charlie asks if he has heard from her and he says no forget what I said about Lucifer, but Lilith contacting Alastor may have occurred.
7 years seems like something that may be a common theme for certain sinners. It’s already been mentioned twice, and I can’t wait to find out what happened to Alastor and Lilith during that time.
If Lilith did contact Alastor, I’m calling it now. (Watch me be horribly wrong 😭)
------
Now, after watching Season 1 and seeing all of this was fucking wrong and that Lucifer is a silly, depressed little man who loves his daughter, I see that I was simply overthinking. I hope you enjoyed this month old thread from Twitter guys.
