Does Dame Aylin have mommy issues? An essay nobody asked for
Disclaimer: This is not what I 100% believe to be canon but rather a train of thought I've been having for some time now so I decided to share. Feel free to disagree or add to it. (Yes, part of it might as well be me projecting, lol).
And of course: spoiler warning for both the act 2 and act 3 nightsong quest.
So, Aasimars usually have a celestial ancestor a few generations removed. Even with faint divine heritage they function as champions of the gods (which we see with Aylin as well).
Now, Aylin's divine heritage is much more recent with her being a direct descendant of Selune. This suggests greater involvement from Selune as opposed to the 'usual' Aasimar family dynamic (which is most often laced with expectations of greatness anyway).
We don't know anything about Aylin's mortal parent so this is just me assuming but considering she's been 'blessed' with immortality along with everything her life's purpose is obvious: being Selune's sword.
So she would have to have been raised as exactly that. And for a long time (maybe even centuries bc afaik she doesn't have a canon age), she was very content in being just that, a weapon. She obviously enjoys fighting, especially for what she believes is right (and she obviously believes in her mother's cause).
Considering Selune is a very responsive and involved deity there's no way she has time to be an actual mother figure in Aylin's life. Especially with her war against Shar, I would assume there's more of a general/sovereign relationship going on.
My headcanon is that she's only ever learned how to interact with mortals by playing the role of the demigod (which is why her dialogue with Tav is so stiff and 'knightly'). That only ever changed for Isobel because Isobel actually sees the person and not just the legend or the idea. In turn, Isobel shows her that she's not just divine but has mortal blood running through her as well.
Now, assuming she was content in her role as sword before, meeting Isobel might have put some cracks into that as Aylin learns that she can connect with mortals instead of just being a beacon of her mother's religion.
So then Isobel dies and with her Aylin's newfound identity as something more than just a divine pawn. She has a century of being killed over and over again to realize what her mother is using her for.
While gods aren't supposed to meddle in mortal affairs, surely (an actually motherly) Selune would've led clerics/ other adventurers to the Nightsong in an attempt to free her daughter. As far as we know that never happened. Now that could be due to Shar's influence and the shadow curse, but Aylin wasn't exactly aware of what was happening on the surface during her time in the Shadowfell so I imagine her faith must've faltered somewhat. All that time in the soulcage, being killed and resurrected over and over again must've changed her outlook on her immortality (if seeing Isobel die hadn't done that already). Where everyone sees a gift/blessing from Selune Aylin knows what it really is: a tool to make her a means to an end and in turn (for her as an individual) a curse.
So while I can get behind the theories of her breaking her oath by killing Lorroakan without due cause, I think what she truly lost might've been her undying belief in Selune and Selune's cause. She's realized that all people see when they look at her is her immortality and her servitude to her mother. And while she still wants to serve her mother because her core beliefs still align with Selune's teachings, she might also want a little more. She might want to actually have a life for herself, especially one with an end. So in the end she might get a little more selfish and a little less perfect and I think that's beautiful.
TLDR:
What if your mom was a god and you felt indebted to her? And what if she still let you suffer through a century of pure hell?
Or: I believe Aylin has a ton of potential for character growth that goes beyond her being the standard Mary Sue DMPC some people on Steam/Reddit make her out to be and Isobel is the catalyst for it. (Bc she's exactly what Aylin has always needed, we're romantic lesbians in this household, ok?)

Hector lands on the final platform with a grunt and looks towards Balthazar and the woman caged in front of him.
Tumblr media
The woman is pale as a ghost, even to her hair and her eyes. Her face is heavily scarred and her clothes ragged and torn. She glances at Hector with disinterest, but her gaze, and her ire, is primarily reserved for Balthazar, who is standing before her with a look of casual cruelty.
Tumblr media
"Balthazar," the woman snaps. "Come to add more bars to my cage. Or perhaps to lead this would-be Justiciar's blade directly to my heart?"
She gestures, indicating Hector, and he flinches away from the assertion. Shadowheart is the one here to become a Justiciar; to be considered the petitioner himself is anathema. (And indeed, out of the corner of his eye, he can see Shadowheart surging forward to claim her rightful reward - but he puts an arm out across her chest, blocking her. They cannot speak yet; there is more to be heard.)
Tumblr media
The woman's eyes flash back to Balthazar, and she lunges in his direction against the edge of the sigil holding her - and pale green spectral hands grasp at her, pulling her back, holding her still.
Tumblr media
"I invite you," she snarls. "Heap more sins upon your head. My retribution will be all the sweeter for them."
Tumblr media
Balthazar smiles coolly, unfazed by her impotent rage. "All this time," he murmurs, "and you still fail to appreciate the gifts I bestowed on you, Aylin. Sad, to see a thing of beauty not recognize its own worth." He circles the edge of the sigil, eyeing her like a particularly fascinating caged beast. "But General Thorm... *he* appreciates you. And he wants you close at hand, so I am here to whisk you back to him."
The Nightsong - Aylin? - struggles against her bonds, and the snarl on her face turns sardonic. "Ketheric. I welcome the sight of him, after these hundred years - he whose immortality I supply with my very soul."
Hector goes very still. His eyes flick sideways to Shadowheart and he sees that she has registered the meaning of these words as well. There is so much more at work here than the Justiciar trial, something that ties to the heart of everything they are struggling against.
This woman cannot be allowed to return to Thorm - at any cost.
Balthazar's smile loses some of its cool humor. "*General* Thorm," he repeats icily. "I'm sure you'll be on your best behavior for him, but just in case, I've taken some precautions."
He turns casually to Hector, seemingly unaware of the monk's distaste for the entire situation. "Keep back. It will take quite some concentration to secure Aylin for her little journey."
Tumblr media
Hector draws a slow breath, trying to calm the racing of his mind enough to think, to decide on a plan. "Wait," he says, stalling for time. "The Nightsong is a person?"
Balthazar laughs.
Tumblr media
"Person? Please. You insult her. You insult *me*. Aylin is so much more than that. She is an aasimar, bound to a soulcage of my creation and lending her immortal strength to General Thorm. Her power, his will, and my genius - an unsurpassable feat."
Hector feels a chill go through him. An aasimar - one touched by celestial blood, beyond human - trapped in this place for the century that Thorm has been immortal, mocked by this blasphemous cruelty for decades...
Tumblr media
"Ramblings most unsane," Aylin sneers, uncowed even after such torment. "Poor Balthazar, for maggots ate his brain long ago."
Tumblr media
"Hold your tongue, Aylin," Balthazar snaps coldly. "Or I'll take it away from you again." He turns to look at Hector, and the veneer of calm authority begins to slip in favor of irritation. "And you - no more questions. No more interference."
Hector flicks his eyes to his companions; all of them have shoulders set, eyes narrowed. He knows they all see the truth of the situation as clearly as he does. This can't be allowed to happen. And there is no way Balthazar will be dissuaded from his plans with anything other than violence.
Subtly he shifts his weight onto the balls of his feet, into the steady central stance ready to leap in any direction. Hidden by his crossed arms, his hands clench into fists.
Tumblr media
"If she's the reason Ketheric Thorm is invulnerable," he says, voice steady and hard as steel, "you're not taking her. Leave, or you're a dead man."
Balthazar turns slowly towards him, and any pretense of pleasantry vanishes from him. His eyes are black coal flared with embers.
Tumblr media
"Dead man," he murmurs. "You haven't been paying attention, have you? Perhaps I'll revive your carcass and add you to my retinue. Then you'll have all the time in the world to think on your mistakes!"
With astonishing speed for his bulk, he darts backwards, flaring with necromantic magic, and all around them, the strewn forms of the dead begin to rise.
Tumblr media
Oh boy.

To conceptualize the sensorium of a Bandi is near impossible for any other lifeform; organic, cybernetic, mechanical - but let us try.
Consider the Vala, The Flame of Justice, a Soulcage favoured for brute simplicity.
Imagine nothing. Neither sight nor scent nor touch. Imagine your spellware booting up. An outsider may perceive lines of code on an external screen, but for the Bandi the first wave of internal diagnostics is sensation.
'cage integrity is nothing, until it is breached. Only a total awareness of every centimetre of form, and of attuned weapons. A sword is a folded finger. A full magazine is a lungful of air. Shield intensity is warmth and weight spread over the shell. Mana reserves are joy bubbling beneath a calm veneer. Comms are a soft chorus, lights in the dark. An absolute understanding of position relative to allies and targets, like shifting patches of heat and cold across your skin.
Immediate visual perception is a bloom of impossible colour until filtering subroutines pare it back to total clarity beyond the resolution of an organic eye. Facing is irrelevant; vision is distributed across every surface of the Soulcage. Audio is briefly deafening until similar filters block out the noise and selectively emphasize priority data; the sound of footsteps, the snap of a reload. Overlays highlight items of interest and trigger emotional resonances. The armoury is love. The repair sarcophagus is maternal warmth. Long obsolete biological imperatives are repurposed to the nature of the mechanism.
The enemy inspires hunger. Their reactor core triggers disgust.
In the arc of a blade lies euphoria. The gender of the Bandi is violence.
And for the Vala, other senses. An immaculate grasp of temperature for dozens of metres. Ally and enemy and muzzleflash are not crude heatmaps of lesser devices but an intuitive understanding; that is the low thrum of a heatsink, this is the warm path of arterial blood, and there the scant after-image of a bullet bullying air aside. An extension of the self, that one might reach out with pure intent and halt ignition in the rifle's chamber.
Any other being trying to ride the senses of Bandi would be overwhelmed by input. Human vision is a patchwork of intersaccadal flashes, a kludge of last-second edits to maximize signal value in service of mammalian processing to keep meat within its limits. Too many inputs and the whole organism is paralyzed by indecision or thrown into desperate action. There is meat within the Soulcage, but the protection of that sealed armour extends beyond physical. In the execution of its purpose, a Bandi is perfect; the kaleidoscope of sight, sound, telemetry, weapon status, velocity, position winnowed to razor edge second by second. Thought and action become one, sheared of all uncertainty, unless...
The natural state of a Bandi is war. Take one from the battlefield, deprive it of both sleep and prey. What thoughts may emerge? What sights slip behind the eyeless faceplate? What does a sword dream?
Perhaps we may discuss other Soulcages of more esoteric perception another time - the deathsight of Jadugara, the prescience of Raksaka, the hum of Fate's threads surrounding Nabi. Or would you rather speculate on the Jukari senses, or conjecture widlly of The New Flesh?

Events of the Iifa Tree
Zidane and Kuja find themselves at the body of Soulcage, the harp at the heart of the tree. Without much of a choice, the two agree to work together to escape. Kuja is weakened and unable to use his magic for much more than healing their wounds. He acts aloof during the climb, and Zidane chalks this down to the loss of his power and therefore having to rely on someone else; he guesses Kuja isn’t used to that.
Further up they are attacked by strange mist monsters that don’t seem to belong in the tree. With Kuja conserving his magic for healing, Zidane fights them off.
As night falls outside the tree, it becomes too dark and cold to continue further. Kuja finally berates Zidane for rescuing him, claiming that he has had his chance for redemption snatched away and now he is in debt to him. Zidane does not see it this way, he helped Kuja because he wanted to, not out of any sort of heroic duty or to indebt him. Zidane gives up trying to convince him otherwise. Things are tense.
Once it is light out again, they continue their ascent, and run into more out-of-place mist monsters. Not only that, but familiar architecture is appearing. Kuja concludes this must be lingering fragments of Memoria... And suddenly Zidane is nowhere to be seen.
Separated from Kuja, Zidane wanders a destroyed Alexandria, seemingly devoid of people even though he can hear frightened voices all around, the same as the night the city was destroyed. Zidane wonders if he has made the wrong decision going after Kuja instead of staying to support Garnet. A familiar voice agrees with him that his decision was reckless and selfish, but that he doesn’t deserve to return to her. Zidane recognises that the voice belongs to Brahne.
Guided toward Brahne's voice, Zidane scales the ruined castle to find her on the throne. He assumes this must be her soul. Brahne exclaims that she will only be able to rest after her revenge and enters Trance, commanding an army of the strange mist monsters to attack.
Zidane is overwhelmed at first, until Kuja joins him. Working together and with Kuja having conserved his magic, they are able to defeat the vengeful Brahne. Kuja explains that her soul must have survived his Trance, and manipulated the fragmented Memoria, which is now fading away. He asks Zidane if he thinks defeating her twice was justifiable. Zidane admits that after all she had done, they didn't have much of a choice.
Kuja confesses that he has no magic left for them to heal. They rest again and talk and come to an amicable truce for now.
The roots nearer the top of the tree are still writhing, and fragments of Memoria still linger out of place. Blocking their way further up are the souls of the Four Guardians of Terra, no longer under Kujas control. The Guardians reveal that now that Terra has been destroyed their souls are free to make their own paths forward, only once they gain vengeance on the ones responsible for ruining Terra’s master plan.
In no state to survive a 4 man boss fight, Zidane and Kuja look for an out. Zidane spots one of the elevator platforms. Kuja offers to distract the Guardians to allow Zidane to reach the platform safely. Zidane refuses to leave him, and together they make their way toward it. Kuja shoves Zidane toward the platform and out of the way from an attack from Lich, and Zidane manages to grab Kuja just as the platform starts ascending through the tangle of roots. They make it out, worse for wear, just as the Tree is sealed off.
Once outside, Zidane is surprised to see Kuja completely heal himself, having been told he was out of magic. Kuja admits he was deliberately letting Zidane do most of the work getting them out in order to conserve his magic for himself. Kuja says that this is his own act of revenge, asks him how it feels to play the hero and calls for his dragon, leaving Zidane injured and alone at the surface of the tree.

Extras description- This infernal monstrosity was made by baby after being left alone after all those Years left to rot who was once Elizabeth Write. Garvey's daughter and your beloved sister.
Phone guys Description: "Hey bud, um I got more bad news, surprisingly. uh yeah anyway there's a new one it's bigger, at least 9 feet tall, faster and smarter than the others, and my god man, that... thing is ugly as hell. I know that the others might look bad. But my God it looks so damn atrocious. I found a way to stop it though when it's behind you ignore her she can't see through the glass for some reason despite all her eyes. when she's one the left just stare at it and it'll go away, but when it's on the right it will scare you but don't look up at the ceiling like soul cage, instead look at the left again and it'll leave. Also if you look at it through the cameras it'll slow it down. Well that's all I have to say about it."
Mechanic: It appears on night 5, It is different from the others but is much like Foxy because it hates being watched so to keep her back watch her from times to time but don't look at her too long or it'll jam your system It can come from the vent behind you. But for some reason she can't see past the glass unless you move so just ignore her if she's behind you, until night 11 when Garvey broke it from night 10 so go on the other side of the table for night 11. Now for the door mechanics. When It's one the left side look at her and it'll go away. Now on the right it's like Soulcage but different. When it's on your right expect a jumpscare you'll be stunned for a few seconds but immediately go on the other side of the table and look at the left and it'll go away.
Hope you guys like it and have a Faztastic day! ^^

Oath Within my Вrеаst (Intersecting Wills) Shinryu Quest
Also known as Oath Within my Вrеаst Pt. 14 SHINRYU. This fight has 1 wave with 2 enemies, the Soulcages. They have 85 million HP each. They have moves that buff themselves and debuff their opponents. In this quest, only lightning and non-elemental attacks are unresisted.
Once the force gauge of the enemies reaches 100%, they will trigger Shockwave+. This deals AoE BRV + HP damage that’s guaranteed to hit. The enemies will then give themselves multiple buffs.
The enemies will also enter 6 turns of force time with the following effects: the Soulcages will now be able to deal +50% HP damage.
Once the enemies drop down to the 79%, 39%, and 19% HP percentage thresholds, they will trigger “the fire started". This will cause them to gain +50% BRV and HP damage resistance. They’ll also gain a 4 million BRV damage shield and a 4 million HP damage shield.
To dispel the above effects, break either the BRV or HP damage shield. The fire aura will trigger even inside a summon or during a char’s BT phase.
At the 69%, 29%, and 9% HP percentage thresholds, the enemies will trigger Leaf Swirl if they’re not on fire. This will cause them to deal AoE BRV + HP damage and give themselves a +50% attack up buff.
If the enemies are on fire, then they’ll trigger Fire Blades instead. This will cause them to deal AoE HP damage that’s 90% of a char’s current HP. The duration of all the buffs of all chars will also go down by 6 turns. The enemies will then get a +50% evasion up buff.
This will not trigger while inside a summon or during a char’s BT mode but it will happen immediately afterwards.
For this fight, my team was Jack Garland from Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Sephiroth, and Sherlotta from from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time with The Brothers as my summon.
Tumblr media
My Calls were Raijin’s from Final Fantasy VIII, Seymour Guado’s from Final Fantasy X, and Lunafreya Nox Fleuret’s from Final Fantasy XV.
Raijin’s LD Call afflicts all enemies with a debuff that nullifies all HP damage and debuffs for 2 turns. Lunafreya’s LD Call will enable its user to get 3 turns in a row. Her regular Call heals the party.
Seymour’s Calls inflicts enemies with multiple debuffs. His LD Call can also delay all enemies by 2 turns as well as dispel the buffs of all the enemies.
Have Jack Garland’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, BT, and FR fully MLB. His Ex has been Purpled. His Burst has been Greened. He has his High Armor and it’s been Blued.
Jack has his Bloom Stone. He has triple real Spheres and triple perfect Artifacts. All of his Summon Boards, Character Enhancement Boards, and Force Enhancements have been completed.
Garland is boosted for this fight. For now, I’ve decided to equip him with my Level 5 of 5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon since he’s gonna be my main DPS for this quest.
Have Sherlotta’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, BT, and FR fully MLB. Her Ex weapon has been Purpled. Her Burst weapon has been Greened. Her High Armor has been Blued.
Sherlotta has her Bloom Stone. She has triple perfect Artifacts and triple real Spheres.
All of her Summon Boards, Character Enhancement Boards, and Force Enhancements have been completed.
Sherlotta is a really good support, buffer, and healer. She has a few instant turn rate moves which buff the party and make the force gauge charge faster. Currently have her equipped with my Level 5 of 5 Special or Unique-type Ultima Weapon.
When the fight started, had Sherlotta spam one of her instant turn rate moves until her Ex ability got charged. Then I used her Ex ability. This also has instant turn rate. By now my force gauge was at around 50% or thereabouts.
Had Sherlotta use Raijin’s LD Call then I switched her out for the friend support Selphie Tilmitt from Final Fantasy VIII that I borrowed.
Selphie is also a support, healer, and buffer. She doesn’t have her own Burst weapon and/or Force weapon yet.
Borrowed a Selphie friend because of her LD. Selphie’s LD afflicts enemies with a debuff that allows all chars to initiate launches each turn. This debuff will also battery the party for these launches.
Selphie also has instant turn rate moves that buff and battery the party and quickly charge the force gauge. Proceeded to spam those moves 4 times. Then, on Selphie’s 5th and last turn, I used her LD to debuff the enemies and launch them.
By now my force gauge was nearing 100%. When Sherlotta returned, had her finish fully charging my force gauge. Once my force gauge was fully charged, had Sherlotta use her Additional Ability then her BT+ finisher.
Had Sephiroth use Seymour’s regular Call. Decided to save Seymour’s LD Call for later in case I need to get rid of the buffs of the enemies.
Normally, I’ll also have Sephiroth activate his Burst+ finisher too. One of its effects is setting the brave of all enemies to 1 for 4 turns. So my chars can just keep on breaking and delaying them.
But I couldn’t do that this time because Seph’s BT+ effect conflicts with Jack’s negative brave gimmick. Garland deals more damage if the enemies are broken. He’s also capable of having them go into negative brave.
For now, I’ve been able to keep the enemies from moving thanks to using Selphie’s LD earlier (this also delays all enemies by 2 turns). The enemies also naturally got out of break so was able to just break them again to delay them.
On Jack’s turn, had him use his Additional Ability and his BT+ finisher already. On his next turn, had him use Lunafreya’s LD Call. Then I activated his Force ability.
Normally, I’d wait until I had exactly 7 turns of force time left before going into a char’s BT+ mode but this time decided to just activate Jack’s Burst+ phase right away.
Tumblr media
Have 10 turns of force time left. The HP damage bonus was at 125%. The enemies were down to 82% and 88% HP.
The conditions for increasing the HP damage bonus of Garland’s FR are as follows:
+20% when party member selects melee attack on party member’s own turn
+20% when enemy afflicted with Break present on party member’s own turn
+30% when enemy with less than 0 BRV present on party member’s own turn
Jack was able to deal a lot of damage during his force time and Burst+ phase. He would have been able to deal more if I’d gone into his Burst+ mode a bit later though.
The shields of the enemies were also annoying but at least Jack was able to break through them.
By the time Jack was about to cast Soul of Chaos, his finishing Burst+ move, have 4 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 540%. The enemies were down to 56% and 35% HP.
Tumblr media
Right after Jack’s Burst+ phase ended, the enemies used Leaf Swirl. This dealt 0 HP damage thanks to the debuff from Raijin’s LD Call.
When it was Jack’s turn again, summoned The Brothers already. Still have 2 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 618%. The enemies were now down to 34% and 16% HP.
Tumblr media
IIRC, had Jack use Zantetsuken, his LD ability. This brought the enemies down to 25% and 10% HP.
It was now Sephiroth’s turn. Have 1 turn of force time left. The HP damage bonus was at 693%.
Tumblr media
Had Sephi use Black Materia, his Ex ability. This finished off the Soulcage with 10% HP. The remaining Soulcage dropped down to 16% HP.
Tumblr media
It was Sephiroth’s turn again. IIRC, just had him use either Octaslash or Scintilla. On Sherlotta’s turn, had her use Chuck Staff. Then on Jack’s turn, had him use his Ex ability.
The Soulcage currently has his shield up so by the time my summon was about to end, he was only down to 15% HP. It was Sephiroth’s turn again.
Tumblr media
Thankfully, his attack was finally enough to pierce through the enemy’s shields so when my summon ended, the Soulcage only used Leaf Swirl and not Fire Blades.
On Sherlotta’s turn, had her spam the rest of her instant turn rate moves to get my force gauge back to 100%.
On Jack’s turn, had him activate his FR again. By now the remaining boss was down to 10% HP.
Tumblr media
Before that, the Soulcage got to move a few times since I no longer have a way to delay him. Heck, he got to move again right after I used Jack’s FR since it was his turn already.
The Soulcage didn’t deal any HP damage but by now the debuff from Raijin’s LD was gone.
Jack’s FR ability took the enemy down to 3% HP. On Sephiroth’s turn, I was reminded that I had yet to use Seymour’s LD Call so I used it now to delay the last boss.
Tumblr media
Since the fight was ending already, decided to just go ahead and use Sephiroth’s BT+ finisher. Have 9 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 175%.
Sephiroth’s Heaven’s Light, his BT+ finisher, left the Soulcage with 1% HP. Argh! How annoying!
Maybe if I’d used one of his skills instead, he would have been able to finish off the enemy already since he would have been able to launch him thanks to the debuff from Selphie’s LD.
It was now Sherlotta’s turn. Have 8 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 248%.
Tumblr media
IIRC, had Sherlotta use Chuck Staff. This attack + the launch that followed was more than enough to finish off the remaining Soulcage, ending the battle on turn 13.
Got the score and all the other mission requirements. This team did really well. And this fight wasn’t that bad since I was able to avoid the Fire Blades. The shields were really annoying though.

Oath Within my Вrеаst (Intersecting Wills) Shinryu Quest with Beatrix
There’s a time-limited mission that wants us to clear the Oath Within my Вrеаst Shinryu quest with Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX in our party and without using a friend support.
Have Beatrix’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD fully MLB. Her Ex has been Purpled or upgraded to Ex+ 3/3. Also have her FR, and she’s currently equipped with it, but it hasn’t been limit broken at all.
Beatrix has her High Armor and it’s been Realized to 0/3. She has her Bloom Stone. She has triple perfect Artifacts and triple RF Spheres.
All of Beatrix’s Summon Boards have been completed. Unlocked parts of her Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me her LD Call and LD extension passive.
Beatrix is a support who can deal pretty good damage. She provides decent enough party-wide buffs and auras. She can heal. She can dispel the buffs of enemies. She can also provide some protection against the attacks of enemies.
For this fight, my team was Beatrix, Sherlotta, and Jack Garland with The Brothers as my summon. My Calls were Lunafreya’s, Seymour’s, and Raijin’s.
Brought a friend support Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII but have no intention of bringing her into battle. Just borrowed her because she has max Force Enhancements.
Not sure if having a friend with max Force Enhancements will help make my force gauge charge faster even if they aren’t brought into battle but thought I’d give it a try anyway just in case. LOL.
Anyway, made use of Sherlotta’s skills to quickly get my force gauge to 100%. IIRC, the bosses did get to move a few times but they didn’t really do anything all that dangerous.
Having the protection and defenses from Beatrix plus the debuff from Raijin’s LD Call helped to keep my chars safe.
Once my force gauge was fully charged to 100%, had Sherlotta use her BT+ finisher and her Additional Ability. Also had Beatrix and Jack use their Additional Abilities.
Had Jack use Lunafreya’s LD Call then I activated his FR and his BT+ finisher before going straight into his Burst+ phase.
By the time Jack was about to cast Soul of Chaos, the enemies were down to 45% and 27% HP. Their force gauge was at 48.0%. Have 3 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 665%.
Tumblr media
Right after Jack’s Burst+ phase ended, the enemies used Leaf Swirl multiple times.
Every time they did that, Beatrix countered and dealt damage. She also dispelled their buffs.
Have 2 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was currently at 740% so Beatrix’s counters dealt a lot of damage.
Tumblr media
She was able to deal so much damage that the HP of the enemies were now down to 28% and 11% HP. They went on fire again which caused them to trigger Fire Blades.
As a result, my chars lost most of their buffs. Eff! That was really annoying. At least the fight was ending already but now I have to re-apply everyone’s buffs all over again.
Anyway, on Sherlotta’s turn, had her summon The Brothers already. Have 1 turn of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 762%.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, thanks to the BRV and HP damage shield of the enemies, the on-entry attack of The Brothers did no damage. So the enemies were still at 28% and 11% HP.
At least I was soon able to break through those shields. When it was Sherlotta’s turn again, had her spam the rest of her moves to get my force gauge back to 100% again.
Then, on Jack’s turn, had him activate his Force ability again. Soon, one of the enemies croaked it already.
A few turns later, the remaining enemy was down to 4% HP. Have 8 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 200%. The force gauge of the enemies was at 77.4%.
Tumblr media
It was Jack’s turn again. His attack was more than enough to finish off the last boss already, ending the battle on turn 16.
Tumblr media
Got the score and all the other mission requirements. Beatrix did pretty well here, all things considered. The Fire Blades of the enemies was annoying but at least I was able to get through this. Jack and Sherlotta did very well as always.

"You're a liar."
Kaz stands up for himself. Hope the players ever earn his trust enough to get him to this point because he needs it (:
"You're lying." Kaztik can feel himself practically floating off the ground as he says it. Did he actually say that? The words had escaped his lips more than he'd really spoken them. He feels almost as horrified as Rikkal looks. And at the same time -- some part of him feels elated saying it. "You're lying," he repeats.
Rikkal sighs. This wasn't the first time in recent memory he'd had to set things straight. He'll need to figure out the root cause of Kaztik's doubts, but for now… "Kaz, we've been over this. I'm not lying to you. They --"
"No."
"No?"
"No." Kaztik feels his face twist into a grin. He's going to kill me. He's going to fucking kill me. Why am I smiling, oh gods, I'm going to die, he's going to kill me, why am I smiling -- "No, you are lying. I don't believe that they'd do something like that, destroy all my work, when they put in so much of the work. It's you. You're the one who's been trapping us here." He walks toward Rikkal, then stops and looms there for a moment. "You've been trapping us all here, one way or another. You know what I think?"
Rikkal's tail swishes with irritation, and he forces a smirk. "Something profoundly stupid, probably."
Kaztik picks him up with one hand by the collar of his robe. "I think we don't need you anymore."
"Kaz. Oh, Kaz. You do need me. You -- you know that. Right? You haven't forgotten? You're not safe without the soulcage." His eyes turn wide. "Without the -- soulcage…" He watches as Rikkal's other hand emerges from a pocket, holding a small knife. "If you hurt me, you're going to regret it," he shouts, flailing, trying to kick at his captor. "You know, you know you can't, can't ever get away from me, Kaz, yeah? You have a part of me, and that means that I'll always, always, always find you. Don't do this. You'll regret it. Don't take it out. Don't do this, Kaz!"
---
Kaztik turns the bloody gem over in his hand. The world is spinning. Yes, there will always be a part of Rikkal's soul within him -- there's no way to undo that damage, at least, not within his own knowledge. But for now, at least, he has this missing piece of his own soul back. He should feel triumphant, but it doesn't feel real, yet.
Give it time. He closes his hand around the gem, squeezing until he can feel it digging into his palm. Just need to give it time.

My favorite monster from any role playing setting is the Iron Lich, a rather obscure creation from the steampunk game Iron Kingdoms. At some point I had the idea to turn that into a costume. It did not go far (and I made some bad choices), but I made soul cages from metal and haphazard LEDs - and that is one of them. I feel like I could do better now. #soulCage #ironLich #steampunk #roleplaying #fantasy #haphazard #Maker #MakerMovement #MakersOfInstagram #MakersGonnaMake #MakerCommunity #BeInspiredWithDominic Join me on Discord - Link in bio! — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/MFOVlXC

30 Artists 30 Days - Day 1
Artist - NUL.
Genre - Japanese rock, kinda industrial rock
Favorite Songs - Cube, XStream, KaliMa, soulcage, Halzion
Favorite Albums - Right now they only have one album, Tribrid Archive, so that’s my favorite lol. Evila coming out soon tho!
Seen Them Live? (streaming/dvd/in person) - Yes! I watched their streaming live from last year. It was so damn good despite the kinda dodgy sound.
Why do you like them? - Hah, well first of all, back when I was a VK fan, Hizumi was one of my favorite people and one of my favorite vocalists. Tbh Desupa was the last band in VK I listened to even when i was more or less gone from the scene as a whole. Them breaking up and Hizu leaving the business was highkey devastating. So yeah, this is Hizumi’s new band and return and he sounds awesome still so ofc I’m in love with them. Musically i do like their stuff too. I’ve always liked dark industrial rock.
