Many others have spoken about this but I want to add to the screaming by saying how much I love the conversation that Playboyy is having about consent so far. Someone asks for it, someone gives it. Consistently every episode, someone talks about how important it is. How important it is to get it, to make sure it’s enthusiastic and how it not being so can be bad. How it can be frustrating when it isn’t given but the important thing is to make sure you stop and reassess with your partner before you continue.

This show has a lot of sex yes, but I think it’s one of the best ways to show that consent for this type of story. It’s about sex, the many ways sex can be had, the many ways sex can influence a person in ways both good and bad. Consent is consistently at the forefront and I am enjoying the hell out of it.

This show is trying to talk about how important being honest with your partner(s) is. How important it is to make sure that they know everything and can consent to it whole heartedly.

First and Soong both clearly have feelings for each other, but they are not being honest with each other. Neither thinks they are can be and they are a prime example of what happens when the truth comes out but not from the person it should.

Teena is not being honest about how frustrated he is that Zouey doesn’t want to have a specific kind of sex with him and I absolutely think he knows it’s because Zouey isn’t telling him something important. So as dumb as he is for believing Zouey actually has had sex before because of Captain’s clip, I get why he thinks that. He thinks it because Zouey is lying by omission. Only he misses that he is also lying by omission. He hasn’t told Zouey the original reason for his pursuit and Zouey is going to out and it’s going to suck.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Prom and Nont’s sexual tension feels more romantic after Prom figures out that Nont isn’t Nant. That Nont admits it. Both are being more honest with each other (though I wouldn’t be surprised if both have one more thing hidden up their sleeve). I think it’s not a coincidence that Prom feels less threatening from a narrative sense. All of his scenes have a softer edge to them this episode, because the two are finally being truthful.

Nuth and Phop’s scenes feels inherently creepy and haunting and it is at least partly because we know Phop doesn’t really want to be doing what he is doing. Still he lies and gives Nuth consent but he doesn’t want to. He lies that he bought Nant’s laptop from a secondhand store (I haven’t never seen a more obvious lie in this show yet).

It’s only when the characters start being honest that the truth can revealed. It’s only when the truth is known that we will know what happened to Nant. That all of the couples will know if their relationships can last or if they will crash and burn under the weight of life, lies and the truth.

I am so, so scared for our boy First.

We've seen him get progressively more afraid of his capacity for anger and violence, and what it says about him these past few episodes. His guilt and his fear over how he's treated Soong has been haunting him, and he's recognized he's got some pretty serious things to work through.

He's also been fighting to get help because he wants to be able to love Soong, he wants to be a good boyfriend and partner, he wants to be able to notice when he's pushing boundaries before he's bulldozed over them.

Now, Soong has left, and on his way out he did the "I'm going to say something deeply hurtful so that you're angry with me instead of sad" trick that destroys me every time, and threw First's fear of himself in his face ("I don't want you to be this monster"), and now First is out of reasons to care about himself and try to control his baser instincts. He's had the person he loves confirm his worst fears about himself, and he's decided that if he really is a monster, there's no use fighting it.

So, we have this emotionally fragile, prone to violence boy, without an anchor, who's decided that he's unloveable and unhelpable, and I am s t r e s s e d.

And it's awful, because First has people in his corner! He has Zouey and Nont, who worried so much about him, and assured him he's not a monster, and held him and reassured him when he needed to be held and reassured, but he'd put so much of his reasoning for needing and getting help on his relationship with Soong, and now that he's lost that with no explanation, he can't see a reason to get better.

And god if that isn't too fucking real. Because getting better for yourself is so much harder.

I would like to address the conversation going on around Playboyy The Series and the "lack of plot" seemingly presented since its inception (promo). I feel like a huge point is being missed by the general consumers of BL that I, as a queer woman, would like to draw attention to. Sex in queer communities, while ultimately being a form of pleasure, has also been a form of protest. There are still countries in which same sex intercourse is illegal and, in some cases, is punishable by death. Media's response to queers only being palatable to straight people when they viewed them as not being fully functioning human beings who partake in sex (aka taking away their autonomy) were shows like Queer As Folk and The L Word. I know QAF has been in discussion frequently with the rise of more risqué BL like Love In The Air, KinnPorsche, and Only Friends. However, Playboyy The Series is much truer to that era of media in unapologetically portraying queer intimacy more explicitly to remind straight people that we are fully human and with that should come the human right to have sex without being surveilled and reprimanded, to have marriage equality because queer people can also view physically intimacy as an act of love just like straight people, to have access to all basic human rights, because we are REAL! I understand if explicit sex isn't your thing, if cutesy plots are more of your style, but to condemn Playboyy The Series for being "plotless" in this scenario seems unfair to me. Sex is the protest, therefore sex is the main plot device in the show to lead us through the plot because it's a huge part of humanity and queers are human period.

Just tell me who it is and move on because what is about to happen to wrap all this up in two episodes??? I don't know if I believe he is even ☠️. First, the friends are the suspects, then Nuth, and after him, we move to Prom, then Jason, and by extension Aob.

A couple problems with this, neither Aob nor Jason (from the previews) is shocked about Nant being around even though they would presumably not know he's a twin. If that is the case then they must think he is alive or faked his sewer side.

My next thing is, I don't know if I even believe he is D-worded. Because the only proof about him I have is that no one but Nuth seemed to be shocked he was "alive" when Nant showed up.

I don't care just tell me who Ghostface is already, dangit...

The sense of forboding surrounding Soong and First has been there this whole time, but I can’t help but feel like it wasn’t for this.

It wasn’t for Soong revealing that he is stupid enough to pull a stunt like he just pulled. It wasn’t for First being a hapless victim.

It was for the other way around. While this is there position now. It will be reversed later on I think.

Both have admitted that they like rough sex. First has already apologized for being rough and checked in with Soong multiple times after they’ve had sex.

First had a violent streak. His father’s words made that much very clear. First had got anger and violence in him and I think once that switch flips. Once he gets the opportunity to flip the script on Soong, it’s all over.

Soong had better watch out. It’s not the police, First’s father, the horny bros or the playboyys that he had to worry about. It’s the boy he is currently torturing, because that boy is going to fuck him up.
