Hello! I love your blog and your content, so much so that I actually rejoined tumblr just because I wanted to be able to follow your blog 💜

Oddly enough, I came across your blog while doing a Google search for gifs of W: Two Worlds to share with friends to show them the cool special effects because I was (okay, I still am) obsessed with the show, which is neither here nor there, but that’s the true story of how I wound up following you lol That’s probably entirely too much backstory for the main purpose of this message.

Anyway, I saw your post(s) about an anon looking for WLW content suggestions and while I know I have sadly not yet watched a lot (I’ve only seen 1 GL show and it was so bad and non-LGBTQ+ inclusive that I genuinely wish I could unsee it). While I don’t have a show recommendation, I do have a movie recommendation!

I recently watched The Beauty Inside movie from 2014 or 2015? with Han Hyo Joo, which had some really lovely GL scenes in it between the leads (in my admittedly novice opinion). It did, however, make my bi heart flutter and I’ve watched it 3 times now in the past few days (one being immediately after I finished watching it for the 1st time). Which is either a testament to how good it is or to my ADHD.

Despite probably not being inherently intended to be LGBTQ+ in nature (maybe it is though and I just need to do more research), I found that it was very bi/pan leaning(?). I’m not sure if that’s the word I’m looking for, but hopefully you get what I mean 😅

I feel like this was probably better served split into two separate messages, but I’ve come too far to backtrack since I’m on mobile lol Sorry for babbling!! However, I hope that my admittedly small contribution was worth it for someone and if it was complete trash, that’s okay too lol

As far as k-drama gls (technically a lot of them are queer instead of specifically gl) a lot of them are a bit unwatchable, or let me rephrase that: They're so low budget that there's not a whole lot of writing going on and they are usually so short that character development is just not a thing. I mean, half of the dramas on my list are 10 minutes TOTAL. To be faire I've watched plenty of bls and thought "NOTHING IS HAPPENING" and they have much more to work with so I try and just support all the LGBTQ+ K-drama media anyways lol!

As far as the beauty inside, I'll check it out! I don't watch a lot of movies but I could definitely fit in a film with a sprinkle of bi/pan in it!

What I really want is a better funded lesbian k-drama rom com. Like, gimme 30 minute episodes and I want 10 of them ok???ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

What has been the BL that took you by surprise this year?

Plus & Minus for sure. It was my first Taiwanese BL, and I found it to have a naturalistic vibe that drew me in. I’ve rarely liked two leads as much as Fu Ligong and Zheng Zeshou, and I really appreciated the explicit exploration of homophobia. The premise and central tension are also just top tier - they’re divorce lawyers!! Falling in love!!! With each other!!! 

I was also surprised by Blueming. The romance was good, but the way it dealt with parent-child relationships??? Ate my ass.

I don’t think I saw enough GLs to make a separate post, so I’ll also bring up She Makes My Heart Flutter. I had seen Out of Breath from the same studio (Soo not Sue), which was fantastic, but pretty heavy because it shows how difficult internalized homophobia can be. She Makes My Heart Flutter was just as sentimental, sensitive, and truthful, but more lighthearted - fairly hopeful and comforting all throughout. We absolutely need both kinds of stories.  

What has been the BL that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

Vice Versa. I saw how much people were enjoying it and so I tried watching it - multiple times - but never got past the first episode. 

Also: Star in My Mind. I was keeping up weekly for a while but the acting just didn’t do it for me. I do value having watched it, because it helped me realize I want to watch QLs that genuinely FEEL queer, not just “straight love story foisted onto two male / two female leads”. 

ALSO: Ocean Likes Me. It wasn’t badly done, there just was not nearly enough time to explore the characters and story. I hope Holland gets richer roles in the future! He has such a good energy.

from a british/american family. born in york, england, grew up in new york, usa. he finds it pretty funny.

his mother is a surgeon, father a prosecutor. it’s a money-making family.

a cliché money-making family, may i add. you know, we’re talking your typical parents are loaded and care more about jobs than the children situation. so, yeah, elias and his twin sister were raised mostly by various nannies.

boy has always been full of ideas. a creative child, lad who’d just sit in his room and come up with characters just for the heck of it. growing up, his parents always made sure that he’d look the best, well-dressed and overall representing the image of a golden child. that, however, was not enough for him to make friends. turns out that kids didn’t really care if you wore clean t-shirts and expensive pants everyday, y’know? he had a hard time fitting in, was picked on throughout whole middle school, shoved into puddles and beaten by the older boys. but, he’d never tell his parents and they? well, they never noticed. 

he discovered theatre sometime by the end of middle school, immediately knew that this was something for him. man, turns out he just loves to pretend to be someone else, even for a bit. has been in quite a few productions since then.

wasn’t too popular in high school, either. back then a closeted homosexual, lanky kid who’d hang out in the auditorium after hours. had a few friends but also a handful of people who’d come after him just for the heck of it.

had a hard time finding himself, spent sophomore year mostly questioning own decisions and breathing self-doubt. fell into depression, started skipping classes. that’s the first time his parents noticed that something’s wrong.

they didn’t really try to hear him out, though. instead, he was sent to a therapist and diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. his dad thought it was stupid, would shake his head at elias’ medication and tell him to pull himself together.

he discovered drag sometime during senior year. he was around eighteen when he went to the very first show, fell in love. didn’t take him long to create a drag persona of his own!!

her name is g. litter. elias describes her as a washed up, braindead, crack-head diva. widowed at 24, probably killed her husband and ran off to hollywood. she’s a product of pure irony and everything he has ever dreamed of. her looks are the opposite of his usual neat pants, silk shirts and crop tops, consisting mostly of, well, glitter, sequins and the thinnest, yet highest heels in the room. she’s sexy, she’s shameless, she’s gross and he lives for it.

he came out to his parents after graduating high school. they kicked him out. so, boy moved, got a job at some nightclub, rented a low quality studio apartment, started the wildest year of his life.

no, but seriously, so much happened. he met the right people, got some connections, managed to get into the drag business, just a bit. had a couple of gigs here and there, did pretty damn good if he had to say so himself.

one time, a man approaches him after a show. offers him good things, a modelling career of some sort. sounds pretty legit. so, that night, elias goes home with the stranger and they sleep together. that’s, partly, where he discovers that he really, really likes to fool around with older guys.

it also, legitimately, gets him some recognition. like, yo, remember when the dude promised him stuff? yeah, he totally wasn’t lying! and so, for a while, elias did some modelling on the side.

didn’t hear from his parents in months. one night, on his way home from a gig, he gets jumped by some dudes, beaten down with bats and robbed. he tells his sister, she mentions it to their parents. things immediately take a turn. out of sudden, his parents are on his side, call him and try to convince to sue the guys or something. ofc he doesn’t.

this one year of living all alone in new york city comes to an end when he gets accepted into northshore dudes!!

also, pretty good timing, ‘cause boy was getting kicked out of the apartment anyway.

he went back to living with his parents, but just for a short while. they claimed to be proud of him? clearly, they’re trying to be a little less shit, but he can still tell that they’re not 100% happy with who he is. therefore, he hasn’t told them about the drag thing. or the hooking up with dudes twice his age thing. also? he’s honestly not even sure if they know he’s into theatre. like, sure, he’s mentioned it, but they never came to any shows, ever, so, um, idk, doesn’t matter.

to make up for their sins, they magically decided to pay for his studies??? it was prolly just bc his sister was going to the same college, soo, like, they didn’t want it to look bad??  how fuckin’ nice, though. he didn’t really want to agree to it at first, but eventually decided it’s so totally fine. free education is good education, bois.

has been here for two years now. majors in dramatic arts & is in a group full of devised theater enthusiasts. they do their abstract shows and whatnot. then, he also has the solo career (haha, like some gigs, nothing hollywood bby) as g. litter.

REYLO VS YONA LA PRINCIPESSA SCARLATTA

Akatsuki no Yona (in italiano,“Yona la principessa scarlatta”) è un manga di genere storico/avventura/sentimentale del 2009, scritto e disegnato da Mizuho Kusanagi, di cui lo Studio Pierrot ha prodotto l’adattamento in Anime, formato da un totale di 24 episodi e un OAV. In realtà, la storia narrata in Yona e quella raccontata in Star Wars Episodio VII e VIII, sono totalmente differenti, tuttavia esistono dei paralleli tra le due storie che fanno capire come dagli stessi canovacci narrativi si possono realizzare storie DIFFERENTI…

Orfana di madre, Yona è la principessa ed erede al trono del Regno di Kouka, figlia di Re Il, capo del Clan del Cielo e sovrano unico, riconosciuto anche dai capi degli altri clan: Vento, Terra, Acqua e Fuoco. In realtà, Re Il è considerato debole e vigliacco, a causa del suo odio per le armi e la sua politica di non violenza. A differenza del padre, Yona è vivace, irrequieta e avventurosa. Fin dall’infanzia ha condiviso il suo tempo con Son Hak, ora capo del clan del Vento e sua fedele guardia del corpo, soprannominato la “Belva Fulminea” per la sua forza sovrumana e la velocità e potenza devastante dei suoi colpi, e il cugino Soo-won, figlio allegro, gentile e spensierato di Ju-Hon, fratello di Re Il e generale imbattuto dell’esercito a protezione del regno di Kouka. Tutti ritenevano che lui avrebbe dovuto diventare Re, ma quando il padre scelse Il come sovrano, Ju-Hon lasciò il castello, promettendo, però, di continuare a difendere il Regno e il fratello da lontano. Cinque giorni prima del suo sedicesimo compleanno, Yona riceve la visita al castello di Soo-won, tornato per partecipare ai suoi festeggiamenti. Yona è decisa a confessare il suo amore a Soo-won, ignara che Hak la ama in silenzio da anni. Yona si trova davanti, però, a due dolorosi ostacoli: Soo-won dichiara di considerarla una sorella minore e di non riuscire a vederla come una donna mentre, senza spiegare a lei il motivo, Re Il dichiara deciso che non darà MAI a Yona il permesso di sposare Soo-won. Lui non dovrà mai diventare Re, cosa che accadrebbe se il ragazzo sposasse Yona. Nel frattempo, Hak si accorge che nel castello il clima è cambiato, ma il presentimento è troppo vago e Hak non riesce a metterlo a fuoco. Una sera Yona è inseguita da qualcuno che si è introdotto di nascosto nel castello, ma è salvata da Soo-won e l’intruso sembra sparire. Il giorno del compleanno, Soo-won regala a Yona un bellissimo e prezioso fermaglio per capelli. Incapace di dormire, quella stessa notte, Yona si reca nelle stanze del padre per informarlo che non dimenticherà mai Soo-won ma, non appena apre la porta vede una scena agghiacciante: Soo-won infila una spada nel cuore di Re Il, uccidendolo davanti ai suoi occhi. Notando la sua presenza, Soo-won si mostra sorpreso e amareggiato che Yona fosse ancora sveglia e poi spiega alla ragazza di aver ucciso Re Il per vendetta. Da qualche tempo, infatti, Soo-won aveva scoperto che suo padre non era morto per un incidente come tutti, compresa Yona stessa sapevano, ma era stato ucciso con la spada, da Re Il in persona subito dopo essere salito al trono. Soo-won afferma anche che dopo aver ucciso Re Il, per onorare le volontà di suo padre, sarebbe diventato Re. Yona non crede una parola, ma non ha tempo di assimilare la notizia, perché Kye - Sook, l’intruso che l’aveva minacciata sere prima e aiutante di Soo-won, vedendo che Yona è stata testimone dell’assassinio, consiglia di ucciderla. Yona fugge, ma le guardie di Soo-won riescono a catturarla. Per fortuna, in quel momento, arriva Hak a salvare Yona. Grazie al sacrificio di Min-Soo, fedele servitore, Hak e Yona riescono a fuggire dal castello. Soo-won sguinzaglia sulle loro tracce i soldati, con l’ordine di catturarli, mentre è incoronato nuovo Re del Regno di Kouka, dichiarando che schiaccerà chiunque si opporrà lui. Yona e Hak si nascondono, invece, a Capital Fuuga città natale di Hak. Qua Yona matura la decisione di combattere per la sua vita e impedire che Hak muoia. Saputa la decisione della ragazza, Son Mundok, padre adottivo di Hak ed ex generale della Tribù del Vento, a servizio di Re Il, spedisce Hak e Yona alla ricerca di Ik-Soo, monaco capace di ascoltare e riferire la voce degli Dei, in passato consigliere del Re, poi cacciato dal castello da Joo-Nam. Apprendendo il volere di Yona di combattere, Ik-Soo consiglia alla ragazza e Hak di cercare i quattro draghi da cui sono nati il regno e le sue tribù. Quattro ragazzi cui sono stati infusi il sangue e i poteri dei Draghi che regnavano in cielo, destinati a proteggere con ogni mezzo il Drago Rosso, non appena questo si reincarnerà…

Soo-won uccide Re Il, padre di Yona, spezzando il cuore a Yona, che lo ama e vorrebbe sposarlo. Fino a quel momento, il ragazzo è considerato da tutti, inoltre, dolce, allegro, gentile, educato

In “Star Wars. Episodio VII. Il Risveglio della Forza”, Kylo Ren uccide Han Solo, suo padre, davanti a Rey che ha paura di lui e vorrebbe solo sfuggirgli. Fin dall’inizio, Kylo Ren è considerato malvagio, perso nel Lato Oscuro. In “Star Wars. Episodio VIII. Gli Ultimi Jedi”, Kylo Ren uccide Snoke, il suo maestro, poi prende il suo posto sul trono, come Leader Supremo

YONA:

Hak sopraggiunge proprio quando i soldati di Soo – won stanno per uccidere Yona. Sconvolta, la ragazza lo guarda stupefatta e affascinata. Poco dopo, i due vengono fermati da Soo-woo  in persona che rivela anche a Hak di aver ucciso Re Il. Hak si infuria e attacca Soo-won. Il duello è bloccato da un soldato di Soo-won che minaccia Yona. Per fortuna, una freccia anonima, distrae i nemici, permettendo a Yona e Hak di fuggire

REYLO:

In “Star Wars. Episodio VII. Il Risveglio della Forza”, Kylo Ren sguinzaglia le sue truppe alla ricerca di BB-8, droide in compagnia di Rey, così Rey e Finn sono costretti a fuggire dai soldati del Primo Ordine, fino a raggiungere la Resistenza. Nel frattempo, toccando la vecchia spada laser di Anakin, Rey ha una visione, in cui Kylo Ren la salva da un assalitore per poi seguirla. Per finire, mentre stanno fuggendo dalla Star Killer Base, Rey e Finn sono bloccati da Kylo Ren, che getta Rey contro un albero, facendola svenire. Finn si batte con Kylo per proteggere Rey

YONA:

Disobbedendo al volere del defunto padre, Yona comunica ad Hak di voler imparare a usare la spada per difendere se stessa e proteggere lui. Hak propone a Yona l'arco al posto della spada e le spiega che a lei manca una cosa fondamentale: l'istinto assassino. Al contrario di Hak, Yona è incapace di uccidere. Una volta, Hak sfida Yona a colpirlo e lei fallisce. Solo quando Hak dice a Yona di immaginare che lui sia Soo-won, Yona è assalita da un fuoco e determinazione e riesce a ferire in modo leggero Hak;

REYLO :

In “Star Wars. Episodio VIII. Gli Ultimi Jedi”, dopo un momento di smarrimento, Rey spara a Kylo Ren nel corso del loro primo collegamento attraverso la Forza. Più tardi, le parole di Kylo Ren spingono Rey a gettarsi nella caverna che l'attirava, ma temeva

Nel corso di uno scontro con l'esercito del Clan del Fuoco, Hak e Yona cadono da un dirupo e vengono creduti morti. In realtà, i due sono salvati proprio da Ik-Soo, potente ex monaco del Re, scacciato dal castello, che vive isolato nel profondo della foresta. Ik-Soo dice a Yona che quando l'OSCURITA' scenderà sulla terra, il sangue dei Draghi riporterà la vita e il Drago Rosso ritornerà con l'alba. Per tutti, Yona è LUCE

Il soprannome di Kylo Ren è Jedi's Killer (Assassino di Jedi). Rey lo chiama “creatura con la maschera” e, quando è furiosa, “mostro”. In “Star Wars. Episodio VII. Il Risveglio della Forza”, si racconta che è stato Kylo Ren a tradire Luke. In “Star Wars. Episodio VIII. Gli Ultimi Jedi”, Kylo rivela a Rey che è stato Luke il primo a tradirlo, tentando di ucciderlo nel sonno

In “Star Wars. Episodio VII. Il Risveglio della Forza”, braccata da Kylo Ren, Rey tenta di difendersi, sparandogli contro. Stanco di evitare i proiettili, Kylo Ren blocca il braccio con cui Rey sta sparando usando la Forza.  “Star Wars. Episodio VIII. Gli Ultimi Jedi”, dopo essere svenuti a causa del loro scontrarsi con la Forza, Rey si risveglia per prima e, sebbene ferita e delusa, non uccide Kylo, fuggendo e lasciandolo svenuto sul pavimento

Non pretendo di essere un esperto del pittore Zorn, ma parlando da pittore, credo che questi commentatori si sbaglino non avendo colto il nocciolo della questione. Nessuno vuole affermare che Zorn abbia sempre usato esclusivamente quella tavolozza ultra limitata. Ovviamente, molti dei suoi dipinti (come quella qui a fianco) utilizzano una gamma più ampia di colori, tra cui blu. Credo che ci sia anche un problema logico nel tirare in ballo la presenza di tubi di colore blu superstiti. Il fatto non prova gran che. Nel mio caso, il fondo della mia cassetta dei colori è zeppa di decine di colori che non uso mai. Alcuni di questi, come il"Verde Aubusson" e il "Blu Tuareg", sono stati comprati solo perché costavano pochissimo e non sono mai stati usati; altri non sono stati mai toccati da vent'anni. Certi sono così costosi che non me la soo mai sentita di "consumarli". Altri ancora hanno perso l'etichetta e non so più che cosa sono. Certi sono così tossici che li evito come se fossero scorie radioattive. Alcuni sono attaccata al fondo del cassetto perché hanno perso olio di lino che seccando li ha incollati li. Io uso spesso tavolozze limitate, ma non avrei mai immaginato che qualcuno in futuro potrebbe cercare di capire che colori uso frugando nella mia cassetta dei colori.

Quali sono invece le prove che Zorn abbia spesso usato la famosa tavolozza di quattro colori? Prima di tutto moltissimi dei suoi dipinti sono evidentemente realizzati usando una gamma cromatica molto stretta, che potrebbe essere stata dipinta proprio con quei pochi colori. Teoricamente un pittore potrebbe ottenere dipinti con un'apparenza simile a quella ottenuta da Zorn anche lavorando con una tavolozza estesa. Una analisi chimica potrebbe dare risposte più sicure, ma la maggioranza dei pittori che Zorn nominava come suoi esempi ispiratori, come Frans Hals, Diego Velasquez, and James M Whistler, usavano tavolozze molto limitate. Parlare di tavolozze limitate per gli artisti del periodo di Zorn era argomento consueto e comune nell'ambiente professionale artistico del suo periodo. Esistono inoltre moltissime testimonianze di colleghi pittori del periodo che parlano nei loro scritti della tavolozza limitata che questo pittore utilizzava. Per esempio, il pittore di formazione europea Landscape Painting” del 1909, scrive: “Un pittore esperto non si lascia disturbare da pigmenti inutili. Seleziona quei pochi toni che sono realmente essenziali e getta da parte il resto come legname inutile. L'artista svedese, Zorn, usa solo due colori: vermiglio e giallo ocra, dato che gli altri due pigmenti presenti sulla sua tavolozza: bianco e nero, sono la negazione del colore. Con questa tavolozza, semplice fino alla povertà, egli ha tuttavia ritenuto - con ragione - che fosse possibile dipingere una immensa varietà di paesaggi e figure.

Guardando le sue tavolozze, quelle conservate nel museo Zorn, possiamo notare qualche tocco di giallo cadmio, e forse piccole quantità di blu o verde, ma ci troviamo di fronte a una piccola tavolozza ed a una piccola scatola, cosa che sembra sottolineare la prevalenza dei principali quattro colori.

Infine, ecco il suo autoritratto, dove è chiaramente visibile la sua tavolozza, con i quattro colori in bella mostra: bianco, ocra, rosso e nero. Zorn era consapevole della propria immagine, era certamente consapevole di ciò che stava comunicando con la sua immagine agli altri artisti mostrando orgogliosamente la propria tavolozza di soli quattro colori. Ciò che i dubbiosi devono comprendere è che quella tavolozza limitata, non è segno di impoverimento, piuttosto di padronanza sicura delle proprie risorse. Con le parole di Brummer, “disporre di risorse limitate potrebbe essere un bene.” Gli esperimenti di Zorn con la sua tavolozza limitata sono la dimostrazione del suo virtuosismo, un segno della sua forza come pittore. Studio Task#5

Soo the job for this week was simple and there was only one man that could do such a simple task.... me!

The job to appropriate a popular brand and reproduce a t-shirt design with a quirky attitude.

After around 15mins i decided on my go to pin cushion, Apple Computers of course, the reason; i had just this morning seen one this morning have a major crash which made it sound like rocket going in to space,

F#cking Apple am i right!!

So the train of discovery led me to all kinds of places but i needed to keep the image related without being all like “let me just flip the image” level of genuis. Though it is a simple design so i had some options when it came to my design. then it hit me like a thunderbolt it needs to be either a Pear, Lemon or Melon, as the shape language of the Silhouettes of these fruits suggest something of a jovial or comical nature.

First the Pear - Oh wait thats actually a brand, known as the knockoff apple IP, NEXT!

The Melon - hmm the silhouette of a melon is hard to digest visually in the way to differenciate it from say, a beach ball, that left just one.

The Lemon - Known colloquially as something of cheapened value and quality this sat well with that satire i wished to portray as the assumed value of Apple products far outweighs their actual value. Bingo!

I give you The lemon in all its glory.

One final task lets add some Typography and put it on a shirt...

So for Typography i decided to appropriate an Apple font look alike, which Apple has used for promotional material before. The font was Myriad Pro, which is similar to the Apple font of Helvetica Neuve.
