ATLA Gender Bender: Firelord Ozai
"You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher."
The principle behind this AU is to swap the genders of the main cast (Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko) and other characters where it enhances the story. This means that most child characters, like Azula and Suki, are also swapped, but adults are swapped on a case by case basis. This is especially true for characters who had a formative influence on the main characters, like parents and other role models. If you swap a given character and their parent(al figure)s, this alters the character's personality more than swapping that character without swapping their parents. Sometimes this effect is subtle, and sometimes it is large. This is why I would avoid swapping the genders of a character's parents, unless it makes sense to do so.
In the case of Zuko's parents, I do not think it detracts from the story to swap their genders. I would even go so far to say that some things are enhanced by swapping both Ozai and Ursa. Female Ozai fits surprisingly well into the role of an "evil empress". "Urson" also works as a "papa bear" character. A female Ozai would contrast well with a female Zuko, serving as a "good queen" "evil queen" dichotomy. I also find it fascinating to think about what would change and what would stay the same if Ozai's gender was also swapped.
I picture female Ozai being no less evil or sadistic as normal Ozai. Unlike Ozai, she would have to maintain the image of a good mother to her children, and a good daughter to her father. This is especially interesting if she is the first female Fire Lord in a line of male Fire Lords. She would be a queen who has to strike the perfect balance of femininity and power in order to please her court. A woman who possesses bewitching beauty to conceal a wicked, sadistic soul. I think she would be very narcissistic and cruel, obsessed with being beautiful and powerful at once.
I attempted to convey this through her design, which could be tweaked in many respects. To explain the rationale behind her design, the Fire Lords of Avatar draw from East and Southeast Asian influences. Firelord Ozai's hairstyle is Chinese inspired (see: atlaculture.tumblr.com/post/65…), but his clothing is Burmese inspired (see: atlaculture.tumblr.com/post/63…). As such, I decided to base the hairstyles of female Fire Lords on East Asian hairstyles worn by female rulers.
It feels inevitable that female Ozai would be compared to Wu Zetian. I wanted to minimize these comparisons, and make it clear that female Ozai is not supposed to be a representation of Wu Zetian. Doing so would unfairly demonize a real historical figure. Still, I could not resist including a couple of elements inspired by Fan Bingbing as Wu Zetian in "The Empress of China" (see: dwvyw8kf1avne.cloudfront.net/s…). This is what inspired female Ozai's red makeup, and the stylized phoenix headdress that she wears. Other design elements are not inspired by Wu Zetian, but other portrayals of powerful queens and empresses in Chinese dramas. Namely, Empress Du Feihong in "The Glamorous Imperial Concubine". I hope that the final design is so stylized that it is clear that she is not supposed to represent a real historical figure. I attempted to simplify her headdress in a way that could be easy enough to animate while still making it clear that she is wearing a ridiculous amount of gold and rubies on her head. This is meant to contrast with female Zuko's design. Where female Zuko is humble, female Ozai is vain.
In the end, I am dissatisfied with the design I came up with, for reasons I will explain under "OUTFIT DESCRIPTIONS".
This design approach diverges from the design principles behind the one female Firelord shown in Avatar, that being Izumi. I took liberties with hairstyles, but did not change the masculine style of robes. I felt this would diverge too far from the pre-established rules of Avatar. Additionally, I think it creates an interesting contrast between a feminine hairstyle and masculine robes, especially if Ozai and "Zuka" are the first female Firelords in a long series of male Firelords.
The phoenix imagery actually makes more sense if Ozai was a woman, since the fenghuang is traditionally a feminine entity. I also think it would be cool if she was still named "Ozai", kind of like how "Ty Lee" is very feminine but has a masculine name. It would also imply that "Ozai" isn't the name she was born with, but a name she adopted for its meaning "large presence".
I picture Grey Griffin as the voice of female Ozai. Specifically, how she voices adult characters, like Ming Hua in LOK and the female Viltrumite from Invincible. I don't think that she should have the same voice as Azula, but Grey Griffin could give her a venomous and vicious voice that would fit her really well.
OUTFIT DESCRIPTIONS:
1: Firelord Costume
I am dissatisfied with the hairstyle I came up with for female Ozai's Firelord costume. I have written previously about my concerns that viewers would conflate her with the real life Wu Zetian. In order to minimize these comparisons, I tried to make elements of her hairstyle abstract instead of authentic to real life costumes. However, I do not think I was successful in achieving my goal. When I first started drawing female Ozai, I knew little about hanfu, and have since learned more about traditional Chinese costumes. The crown that I gave her is clearly inspired by fengguan, which is a distinctly Chinese element. Given Ozai's affinity for phoenixes, I can't not picture female Ozai wearing some sort of fengguan. The design I came up with is flawed, as it is something that "looks Chinese" without being authentic to Chinese costume design. This could come across as offensive. The best approach would be to fuse the Chinese element of the fengguan with other cultural influences, so that the result is something that is not specifically Chinese. I took some time to try to come up with a better design, but to be transparent I am approaching creative burn out with this project and was unable to come up with a better design. I guess this speaks to my limits as an artist.
With all of this said, these designs are best viewed as a first draft and not the final product. These are meant to give an impression of what her character would look like, and could use more sets of eyes to review and improve the design.
2: "Phoenix Queen" Costume
In the second costume, her cape is somewhat inspired by Maleficent's cape in "Sleeping Beauty". Maleficent's appearance also helped inspire female Ozai's widow's peak and facial structure. As I mentioned before, her costume is inspired by the real life apsara. She has dressed herself in the image of a goddess of fire.
3: "Phoenix Queen" Costume, after removing crown and cape
The third costume is supposed to be how female Ozai would appear at the start of her fight with "Aangi". I intended for her to have the same body type as the female Viltrumite "Thula" from "Invincible". I also think that female Ozai's voice would sound like Thula's. I picture her as a warrior queen who spends a lot of time training, giving her an athletic and muscular appearance. I think she would appear more physically intimidating if she has some muscle mass on her frame. This being said, there are a lot of different athletic body types. A less bulky but athletic body type could arguably fit her better.
4: Appearance after being defeated by "Aangi"
The fourth costume is supposed to be how female Ozai would appear at the end of her fight with "Aangi". Since she doesn't have a goattee, I think "Aangi" would grab her by the gold part of her top. I think it would be cool and dramatic if "Aangi" ripped this part of her costume off. In the heat of battle, female Ozai loses the gold parts of her costume, and a waterbending attack by "Aangi" washes off her makeup, exposing her as a false goddess.
Her finger nails and toenails are painted and sharpened, to resemble the talons of a phoenix.

She's Kinda Hot Though - Jessica Chastain x fem!reader
pairing: Jessica Chastain x fem!reader
warnings: light smut
summary: read to find out
word count: 1.1k
Day one on set was a bliss. You were happy to finally do a movie with your long-time friend Diane Kruger and you had all day to catch up since there weren’t many scenes filmed. The two of you grew up together and were practically inseparable when you were young.
You knew all the people you were working with. Well knew would be too much. You knew their work. But you knew that you were working with the elite of Hollywood: Academy Award winners Penélope Cruz, Jessica Chastain, and Lupita Nyong’o and screen legends including Sebastian Stan and Fan Bingbing. You felt a little small compared to them if you were frank.
You had been in the business for about one and a half decades but you were nothing close to being as famous as them.
Once you were done on set, you decided to get dinner as a group, so here you were, seven Hollywood actors having dinner at a Chinese Takeout place in L.A., laughing and telling stories about yourselves.
After some time you found yourself gazing at the ginger seated next to you. You noticed her right away when you first met her at a screen test for the movie but hadn’t seen her since, she crossed your mind every now and then since that day.
She was mesmerizing. Her eyes, her hair, her nose. She was perfect from head to toe. Her laughs were sweet and adorable and the way she scrunched her nose while laughing was everything for you. You had known her for what one day? Two if you count the screen test?
She laughed again and this time she made contact with your thigh for a spit second and your breath hitched. Diane gently nudged you from the other side and gave you a knowing smirk. Even after all these years she still knew exactly how to read you.
The next day on set, Diane teased you whenever she could. “Da hat aber jemand nen Crush,” (Seems like someone’s got a crush) she sang as you picked her up to head to set together that morning. “Halt doch die Klappe.” (Shut up.) You immediately replied. “Auf keinen Fall. Das ist einfach zu gut.” (Ain’t happening. It’s just too good.) she replied, an amused smile on her face, at which you hit her arm, shutting her up effectively. “Sie ist aber schon heiß” (She’s kinda hot though) You admit and Diane gives you a content smirk.
Over the next few weeks, you and Jessica had gotten closer, having lunch together regularly and practicing your lines with each other. She gave you a ton of advice and you were very grateful for that.
This evening, you were at your place, practicing lines. You had heated up some leftover food and finished the night with a glass of wine and the movie in the living room. The two of you shared a blanket, you were a little tense because you were so close to her physically but she didn’t seem to have noticed.
At some point, she shifted her position and moved even closer to you. You didn’t know what came over you but you decided to at least try something and you carefully put your arm around the ginger’s shoulder.
You could smell her flowery perfume and feel her hair tickling your arm. If you weren’t alive right now, you would have thought you were in heaven.
You suddenly couldn’t focus on the movie anymore, your attention on her and only her. You took in each and every one of her movements as you watched her eyes follow the scene on the flatscreen.
“Staring is rude, you know.” She said and you had blushed, having thought she didn’t notice you staring. “I’m not staring, love, I’m admiring.” You flirted back and she chuckled cutely.
And then it felt like slow motion and timelapse at once. You leaned in, she did the same, your lips met and it felt like a firework going off. She gently cupped your cheek with her delicate fingers and pulled you closer. You gently swept your tongue across her bottom lip, asking for entrance and within a second your tongue was invading her mouth as she began to tug at your hair.
Your hands slipped under her black shirt and she gasped as your hands made contact with her porcelain skin. You gently caressed the skin of her stomach with your hands as you moved your mouth from her lips to her neck. She tilted her head in response, giving you more access. You left a mark barely below her ear and you knew you were going to get shit for it later but you couldn’t care less.
Jessica tugged at your grey crew-neck and you pulled away for a split second, taking it off along with the tee you were wearing underneath, revealing a red lace bra. You weren’t intentionally wearing it, it was just the one you had picked for the day.
You sat on Jessica’s lap, her hands were now on your hips, as your hands found their way into her hair, smashing your lips to hers again. This feeling was heavenly.
The ginger’s delicate fingers were now gently caressing the skin barely underneath your bra and you gasped at the contact, allowing the other woman to slip her tongue into your mouth. You moaned into the kiss when her hands finally found your breasts and gave them a gentle squeeze.
Oh, how many times you had imagined this moment and here you were all at her mercy, trembling at her touch. You tugged at her sweater and it come off just as easy as yours had just moments ago. Jessica was wearing only a bra underneath her sweater and you both moaned at the skin-on-skin contact that you got as the sweater left the picture.
This was such an incredibly passionate and intimate moment. You both took the time to explore each other, careful to be moving too fast and scaring the other. There were hot gasps and moans echoing through the walls as she lowered herself between your legs and sent you into a state of pure ecstasy while your hand was in her hair, holding her as close as anyway possible before the two of you switched places and you made her feel insane pleasure.
“Damn, Y/l/n. Damn.” Jessica breathed out as you fell down next to her on the sofa. After that, the two of you started giggling.

Hey guys, here is some Fan Bingbing for… I dunno why, I just felt like it? It felt right this morning so I went with it. These pictures are all from last summer when she was in France for… I can't remember now. I just remember I intended to post her more during that period but somehow didn't so I have all these lovely outfits she wore that I haven't given much attention. Look, no matter what season or year it is there are a couple of constant truths. Fan Bingbing is remarkably beautiful and she wears amazing clothing. So enjoy. Today I want to fuck Fan Bingbing.

As someone who lives in Southeast Asia, let me tell you : the scandal will NOT have any significant impact at all.
Why? Because we have no idea (about the scandal AND the person, like who the fuck this man/woman thing is type) and do not care enough for other actors/actresses beside the most famous ones (in this case, Wang Yibo). So little coverage about a Chinese star here except someone as famous Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Dilraba, etc.
So if a movie fails in Southeast Asia, it's definitely NOT because of any supporting actress/actor's scandal in China.
This is in reference to a previous post.
I think you misunderstand what we were talking about. We weren't talking about whether a bit-part actress' rumored tax evasion scandal will be enough to turn away SE Asian audiences from seeing a film. If that was the only issue, I totally agree - no one's going to give a flying fuck about that. They'll buy tickets or not based on the actor they want to see.
This is about the way the Chinese public, government and industry respond to artists who are deemed immoral, criminal, etc. by 'disappearing' and blacklisting them. You don't seem to be informed on that angle (or else I think you'd have immediately picked up on what we were talking about).
If you don't think a tax evasion scandal can kill an artist and their projects, just take a look at Fan Bingbing, Deng Lun, Yuan Bingyan and Zhao Wei, or some of the big Chinese influencers who have been canceled due to tax evasion.
It's not uncommon for an artist in this situation to be removed from/edited out of projects - even ones that were ready to air - and entire projects have been completely removed from streaming services and made no longer available for viewing.
And this isn't just about the industry/government. Chinese audiences will often turn totally against artists who are involved in this type of scandal.
This can have a disastrous effect on everyone else involved in those projects, even though they are totally innocent of any wrongdoing.
Because One and Only has already been released it's at least been able to reach audiences, but if she's found guilty of the accusations against her there's still a possibility it could be held back from release on streaming platforms indefinitely, or until edits are made.
I don't think it's hugely likely given that the project has already been released and she's only in a smallish side role (it's more likely she'll just be removed from credits, promo materials, etc.), but it's definitely a very real and troubling possibility - especially if the offenses are serious and she's found guilty of criminality. This is just the way the industry works in China.

You know, I know that she was dubbed over (by Sally Cahill, og Ada Wong) because her (Li BingBing’s) accent was “too strong.”
But she sounds really good here. People need to realize that she had to learn English and she sounds really amazing all things considered. It’s kind of a shame that she was dubbed over. I can understand that there were some parts of words that seemed off, and it was clear that she was not a native english speaker. And most people would be able to tell that she can not speak english fully. Although Li BingBing nailed the look of Ada Wong, I can see that maybe they could’ve casted someone else just as good who was also a native english speaker.
I think she still did really well considering the fact that she had to learn English. And a lot of her sentences come off very naturally. But i can completely hear the parts where she struggles. She still has to think in (mandarin) and then translate it into english and then say it with the right accent.
I guess the idea of Ada Wong being “properly” represented by also an Asian voice actress was always a point that we needed to get to eventually.
Lily Gao isn’t a “diversity hire,” in the way that people think that it is.
This is representation. This is a female character who has ALWAYS been portrayed as asian and was always casted by white women. Going so far as to have her face modelled after white women as well.
when you are speaking from a white person’s perspective (and living in a predominantly white area), you will NEVER understand what it’s like to grow up knowing that you are different and look different and sound different.
As an asian woman myself, it’s so disheartening to see that the smallest amount of representation in resident evil (considering that Jill Valentine is entirely white washed at this point) is SUCH A HARD PILL TO SWALLOW FOR SOME PEOPLE. like GOD FORBID we have Ada, an asian woman, FINALLY be voiced by an asian woman. AND DON’T BE A FUCKING DUNCE. we KNOW that she’s voiced by a japanese woman for the japanese version etc. chinese for the chinese version etc. get out of my face with the whataboutism
We’re talking about the english version of the game which has systematically always erased a part of Ada’s asian background. Either by having her be voiced by a white woman, or a having her face modelled after a white woman.
Now we’re not shaming these women at all. I love a lot of the actresses who have portrayed Ada. They all did splendid jobs and have varying degrees of fans for each one. Some love Sally, some love Courtenay, some love Lily, some love Jolene. I’m not the hugest fan of Sally’s campiness but I’ve grown to love it. Courtenay was so smooth and sexy, but sometimes even too sexy for sentences that should’ve been normal sounding imo. Lily was cold (which makes sense for her character) but so expressive at times. Jolene had a rasp that I wasn’t a fan of, but her scenes with Leon were so tender and sweet. That’s all fine and good. We’re free to have our opinions about that
THIS WAS A HUGE RANT ABOUT REPRESENTATION AND ADA LOL SORRY

Oh, actually, I just thought of a fic idea. I'm way too sick to write it but here it is if anyone else wants to.
Peak Lord SQQ is on a solo mission when for whatever reason, he de-ages into Wu Yanzi-era Xiao Jiu. Teenage SJ wakes up in the woods or something with all this expensive stuff, and figures they'd just robbed a wealthy cultivator, though it's weird that he's wearing these ill-fitting fancy clothes. Probably some weird scheme that Wu Yanzi didn't bother to explain, but he doesnt seem to be around, so SJ figures he might as well take the stuff and book it... after changing into some less ostentatious but still ill-fitting robes. Whoever this guy was, he sure was well-prepared...
He wanders for a bit, getting his bearings and hoping he isn't found by Wu Yanzi, a recently robbed cultivator, or a dead cultivator's friends, when he runs into Luo Binghe, recently orphaned. LBH is either too kind or too earnest or too hopeful or something, and SJ thinks, "This kid is not gonna survive on the street. UGH" And he acquires a little brother, against his will, thankyouverymuch. Binghe naturally latches onto him like a barnacle and SJ pretends to hate it.
Meanwhile, one YQY is losing his goddamn mind. LQG goes out to look for SQQ, and eventually identifies one of his fans, now held by a familiar-looking scrappy teenager. LQG pursues, but does not use his words, and said scrappy teenager assumes this is a friend of the cultivator Wu Yanzi had robbed, come for revenge... or maybe to get the stuff back, but he's pawned some of it and the rest is his now, fuck off. ...Binghe can have some if he's good.
LQG very much doubts this kid is behind his martial brother's disappearance but he's his only lead, and our dear War God naturally does not really explain his intentions at any point. Thus begins a game of cat and mouse that LQG reluctantly enjoys. Some of the tactics are familiar, and the kid is familiar too, so he does gain some suspicions. These are confirmed when SJ summons Xiu Ya, much to his own surprise.
LQG, knowing YQY is beside himself, decides to go ahead and send him a message saying he's found SQQ, but bringing him back might take a little longer. No further elaboration. YQY drops everything to immediately head to the location specified, and runs into SJ and Bingbing as they're trying to skip town. Cue a reunion between a very confused scrappy street kid and the most pathetic Sect Leader.

7 Celebrities Who Disappeared and We Still Don’t Know Where They Are
Can you imagine how hard it is to pull off a good act of vanishing? VERY hard. Just ask Steven Leung, who tried to make it look like he’d died during 9/11. Spoiler, that didn’t work. And now can you imagine someone like Beyonce just disappearing into thin air? That seems impossible. Yet, sometimes it happens.
Scott Smith
Tumblr media
Scott Smith was a founding member of the band Loverboy but on November 30, 2000, he mysteriously disappeared at sea.
Smith, his girlfriend, and their two friends went sailing after Loverboy’s concert in Vancouver, B.C. When they were nearing San Francisco, the weather got stormy with gigantic waves. One of them knocked Smith of the vessel and into the water.
“We turned back around but couldn’t find any of the debris or cushions or the man-overboard pole,” said his friend Bill Ellis. Coast Guards and private searches couldn’t find him. His body was never found.
Rico Harris
Tumblr media
In 2000, Rico Harris played basketball for a very famous team the Harlem Globetrotters but because of his drinking addiction he couldn’t pursue this career and went on to work as a security guard. In 2014, he was fired from there for drunkenness. When he left his mom’s house in LA and went to Seattle and stay with his girlfriend, he vanished somewhere along State Route 16 near Sacramento.
His backpack and phone were found on the roadside, but he was nowhere to be seen. Days after his disappearance people were reporting sightings of a giant person walking alongside State Route 16. Human footprints were found in the sand but not Harris.
Fan Bingbing
Tumblr media
Fan Bingbing is a Chinese A-list celebrity, one of the few Chinese actresses to make it to the international market. But in 2018 her movie contracts leaked onto social media and it turned out that she’d been using fake contacts to avoid paying taxes. And on July 1, she disappeared.
People think that the authorities reeducating her this way and also show other stars the consequences they could be facing. Later in October, she released an apology on her social media and the Chinese authorities stated that she would be paying a fine. Nevertheless, she still has not been seen in public.
Bison Dele
Tumblr media
Bison Dele whose real name is Brian Williams was a basketball player who was famously odd. When he quit basketball he was seen firing off bazookas into the desert in Lebanon, and then wandering through Asia, living as some sort of rich hobo.
In 2002, when he was in Australia, he learned to sail, bought himself a boat named the Hakuna Matata and decided to sail from Tahiti to Hawaii. He, his girlfriend, Serena Karlan, the ship’s captain, Bertran Saldo, and Dele’s older brother, Miles Dabord were on board but they never made it to Hawaii. Everyone but Dabord vanished at sea.
Dabord was arrested in Phoenix two months later trying to buy gold with his brother’s money. When he was released on bail, he committed suicide via insulin overdose. Supposedly he was prone to violence and envied his brother’s success.
If you or anyone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Oscar Zeta Acosta
Tumblr media
Chicano activist Oscar Zeta Acosta relentlessly consumed pills, hallucinogens, and drunk alcohol in huge quantities. In May 1974, he went to his family home in Mexico and just vanished. His friend Hunter S. Thompson spent years searching for him and later claimed that he was probably killed in a drug hit or a political assassination. However, Acosta’s body was never found.
Richey Edwards
Tumblr media
A rhythm guitarist and lyricist of Manic Street Preachers Richey Edwards was a mid-1990s British rock idol whom The Guardian called “a lightning rod of sorts for adolescent angst.” He was handsome, moody, and has a talent for writing lyrics about depression.
In February 1995 he disappeared from his hotel room and his car was found abandoned near the Severn Bridge. In 2008 he was legally declared dead but his body was never found.
Jim Sullivan
Tumblr media
Read more at: https://nexter.org/7-celebrities-who-disappeared-and-we-still-dont-know-where-they-are
In March 1975, Jim Sullivan was heading to Nashville but he never made it there. His car was found abandoned in the desert outside Santa Rosa, New Mexico and his clothes, wallet, and guitar were all found in a nearby motel. One of his friends said that if Sullivan was planning to vanish, he would’ve never left his guitar behind.

bing bingbing hey hey hey!! woahhh your love 4 ego is unmatched LMFAOO, i’d never really thought much abt him but mayhaps your blog may change my mind !!! (you still get 2 be his top wifey though)
OHH!! my top 5.. it’s hyoma, seishiro, rin, reo & isagi! (not in any order but hyoma’s up there!!) funnily enough, WE R ON THE SAME FIRST IMPRESSIONS FOR RIN!! at first i was all “Man emo chars are so lame” THENN MY HATRED TURNED INTO AN OBSESSION LFMAOOA .. U RIGHTT I KNOW RIN WAS ON AUTO PILOT.. aint got a single thought in that stupid brain of his
THR FIRST ONE TO CATCH MY ATTENTION WAS HYOMA!! my friend sent me him, told me his nickname “princess” and said i would like him — i have a weakness LOL .. i feel like he’d produce such pretty reactions ?..!!?! the bath scene made me. kick my feet for unholy reasons!! THE SELFISH REASONS IS SOOO REAL OF YOU (i love being unapologetically mean to subs it’s entertaining in a way)
the fic sneakpeek with rin already has me running laps imm so excited HHAHA !! you bet once you post i’m running to that post as quick as possible! already loving how many thoughts and hcs you’re putting on this blog!!
hmm, not too sure how to end this.. any thoughts on your mind? or how’s your day been, depending on timezones! - 💌
OH I FELL FOR HIM THE SECOND I SAW HIM-
-Ego is....very much my type. Painfully my type. If you saw a majority of my other fandom husbands then...Ego's in good company 😂 (said he was ugly then seconds later was head over heels) And I will always be indignant about his treatment in the fandom! Especially from manga readers!! I'll let anime only watchers slide bc he's...rough, for a while. But anyone who reads the U-20 game and still thinks he doesn't care is just being willfully ignorant. Ego went full blown dad mode in that second half of the game and I have yet to recover from his dilf energy coaching that game 😤
seriously though was ready to hate Rin like I hated a few other characters bc fanon personality was shit. Total ick. Was literally tired of seeing his face and I didn't even know what bllk was. But then his little scenes kept building and then the U-20 game happened and now...all I wanna do is make him worse 🥰
Chigiri goes in the Bachira/Kunigami box like...is it legal to not like them?? Are there really fans who hate Chigiri bc hello??? Pretty pretty princess but also will not stop laughing at the weird Reo/Nagi fanclub that just formed around Chigiri. The off the wall friendships in bllk kill me and both Reo/Nagi being fans of Chigiri in their little England team is still killing me. The bath scene though, if they cheap out on Chigiri's thighs I (and a few others) will be rioting. Give!! Us!! The!!! Thighs!! and the rest of the stupidity that happens in that blessed scene istg
GAH I'M SORRY THE RIN FIC IS ON HOLD- A certain someone (they know who they are <.<) Gave me the worst idea for Niko and well...dragging my pussy across my keyboard horny writing a Niko fic I never thought I'd write bc I thought Niko was an ugly little mother fucker (yes I see the irony in thinking Ego is drop dead gorgeous but the other bowl cut ugly...shh) But not to spoil anything but it may or may not be bc of the previous nipple headcanon post and the delightful idea of male lactation and chapped boy nips 🙏
Thoughts...it's 6:40 am and I've barely been up for an hour power slamming some coffee down my gullet before I start the day. Thoughts blank except survive the day and avoid a toddler tantrum like I'm defusing a bomb 😂 But also to make plenty of time to write for horny boys 🍑 Lemme play the uno reverse card! How have you been? Enjoyed last weeks bllk episode? Are you a dubbed or sub watcher? Favorite part in the manga thus far? Any characters you wanted to see more of or weird side characters that just interest you??

I Like to Watch | The Best and Worst of 2022
by Don Hall
Oh, the controversy! In the latest Sight and Sound Poll, known to be the definitive determiner of the greatest 100 movies of all time, has displaced some of the films seen as canon. Holy fuck, what will we do!
Sight & Sound voters selected Chantal Ackerman’s “Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles” as this decade’s greatest film of all time. It is the fourth film to ever receive the honor, after “Bicycle Thieves,” “Citizen Kane,” and “Vertigo.” But Paul Schrader isn’t sold on the pick.
The “Master Gardener” director took to his always colorful Facebook page to question the logic of the selection and question if the poll’s voters were committed to judging films by their artistic value.
“By expanding the voting community and the point system, this year’s S&S poll reflects not a historical continuum but a politically correct rejiggering. Ackerman’s film is a favorite of mine, a great film, a landmark film but it’s unexpected number one rating does it no favors. ‘Jeanne Dielman’ will from this time forward be remembered not only as an important film in cinema history but also as a landmark of distorted woke reappraisal.”
Doesn't Schrader know that there was a rogue wave that hit a cruise ship and pulled a woman overboard? Is he aware of the fact the democracy is ending... what? It didn't end? What the fuck? Isn't he in tune with the fact that Twitter will completely implode now that Musk has taken over? There are so many more important things to get up in your cups about than a list of the greatest 100 movies voted upon subjectively by a bunch of industry insiders.
Plus, everyone already knows that This is Spinal Tap is the greatest movie ever made.
What about what I think were the best and worst shows and movies in 2022 (based entirely on the films and series I actually saw and not including stuff on Starz because I ain't paying for one more goddamned streaming service).
Granted, 2022 was more about streaming than sitting in a theater. You know, all that wearing a mask stuff gets in the way of snarfing handfuls of overpriced popcorn and tubs of cola. Once things opened up, I caught a few silver screen experiences because, well, few others were sitting in a theater to watch Jackass Forever. Once my life turned to shit, I found that movies and shows on the iPad were of some comfort if for no other reason than a sense of distraction. The second half of the year has become much more involved in viewing so here are my short list of the best things I saw and worst things I endured in 2022.
BEST
Barbarian Director: Zach Cregger
As I wrote:
"This is a truly imaginative, risky film. The script is great, the performances (especially Campbell) are stellar, and nothing about this smart, idea-driven monster movie is anything but outside the box. I finished it and, instead of then moving on to another movie or streaming show, I just wanted to sit with it, stewing on the concepts, reliving the moments I didn't expect (one of my favorite scenes involves Campbell, having escaped and calling the Detroit police only to have the cops look at her as if she were on crack or nuts rather than rush into the breach like movie cops usually do—her shock at their disbelief feels like reality which is always a solid surprise in a story of fantastical twists), and wishing I could rewatch it for the first time."
WORST
The 355 Director: Simon Kinberg
Kinberg gets five of the most exciting and talented actors available to him (Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger, and Lupita Nyong'o) and creates a genuinely dull and overcomplicated spy film.
Anything with Chastain and Nyong'o that leaves you looking at the clock to see how much longer is this thing going to play is a miscarriage of justice and deserving of riots in the streets. I mean, where's Antifa when you need them?
BEST
Andor Created by Tony Gilroy
A wonderfully slow burn series that combines the galaxy far, far away with the grittiness of Bladerunner,Gilroy's follow-up to the also excellent Rogue One has Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor prior to his full buy-in to the Rebellion against the Empire.
Both serious and fun, the series brings back the fight against the Empire as central to the story. Not about Jedis or the Force, Andor takes the very reason for the Skywalker clan to engage in a battle against the domination of an authoritarian regime.
WORST
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Created by Jessica Gao
Gao started her career as a writer on the Nickelodeon shows The Mighty B! and Back at the Barnyard. She continued to work for the network on shows such as Big Time Rush and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, before leaving to freelance on other shows such as Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, Cartoon Network's The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange, and Disney XD's Lab Rats. Gao has also written for HBO's Silicon Valley, the French series Zip Zip, Seeso/Pluto TV's Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, and Comedy Central's Corporate. Also Rick and Morty.
Certainly a talented writer, nothing in her repertoire indicates she'd be qualified to write in either the superhero genre or the legal sitcom genre and this show demonstrates her lack of cred. Neither a truly satisfying storyline involving a super-powered lawyer nor an interesting or credible story of a lawyer who happens to be the cousin of the Hulk, Gao bricks it thoroughly.
Trust me—I wanted to love this show. I ended up finding it tedious to just keep up with the episodes. And given both Tatiana Maslany and her Hulk counterpart are super hot, that is saying something.
BEST
Nope Directed by Jordan Peele
Peele's Get Out made it on that venerated list of 100 Greatest films but, for my money, this is his best work to date.
A sweeping story involving aliens, a quest, the racism of early Hollywood, and a murderous chimp from a widely loved sitcom, Nope is his most complex film and is, a personal favorite of mine, a movie about making movies. The performances are wonderful, the alien is completely unique (because, c'mon, the idea that aliens will somehow be humanoid is some pretty arrogant stuff after it's all said and done), and the questions asked but not answered make this one of those movies that demands watching over and over again.
WORST
Moonfall Directed by Roland Emmerich
I'll buy aliens coming to invade the planet, the second ice age, the end of the world based on the Mayan calendar, even Mel Gibson as a Revolutionary War guerrilla fighter, but the moon is a giant spaceship sent to spark human evolution and is being attached by an alien AI?
Fuck yourself, Roland.
BEST
Three Thousand Years of Longing Directed by George Miller
Tilda Swinton. Idris Elba. A movie about storytelling and stories. A strange and wonderful love story.
I loved this film.
Adapted from AS Byatt's novella, The Djinn in The Nightingale's Eyes, Three Thousand Years of Longing is a profound, contemplative romantic reverie about a literature professor and a djinn telling stories to one another. Whatever George Miller's fans might have been expecting after Mad Max: Fury Road, they weren't expecting that.
It's lovely and sad and beautiful.
WORST
Till Directed by Chinonye Chukwu
I suppose it's reasonable when making a movie for people who don't remember Ronald Reagan or Gilligan's Island you gotta go with the obvious but I already knew about the lynching of Emmet Till, the open casket viewing for America, and the trial. Given the marketing was about his mother, I expected to get some insight about her work moving the needle towards passage of the 1957 Civil Rights Act. Sadly, no. This is just a retelling of the crime through her eyes.
While Danielle Deadwyler is a beautiful woman and a fine actor, a solid thirty minutes of this film is centered on long close ups of her face looking forlorn. I don't know anything about Mamie Till-Mobley but I know every fucking pore on Deadwyler's face.
The worst thing you can do with such a powerful story is bore. And this is a well-meant snooze.
BEST
Prey Directed by Dan Trachtenberg
Twenty-five years after John McTiernan’s Aahnold 80's classic introduced us to a high tech race of predatory aliens, the Predator is back hunting another group of warriors. Trachtenberg’s Prey takes us back 300 years to the Northern Great Plains of 1719 flipping the premise on its head and expanding the world to tell an entirely different story. In Prey, he follows a young Comanche woman named Naru (Amber Midthunder) and makes a film about the perception of power and the reality of strength.
The Predator is less advanced but just as bloodthirsty and dare anyone to not stare in wonder as it fights and kills a grizzly bear. Midthunder is remarkable in every single scene. Spectacular franchise building here.
WORST
Thor: Love and Thunder Directed by Taika Waititi
While the world may be oversaturated with too much MCU, I'm not. I am, however, thinking Waititi might need a break. He is almost the MCU Joel Schumacher. I was looking forward to this fourth Thor film but not quite as enthusiastically as I have been in the past. This has less to do with Taika or too much Marvel and more to do with why I love this universe in the first place.
I love the MCU because I learned to read with Marvel comics. I read them all with The Fantastic Four being my all-time favorite. At some point as I went from latchkey kid hoarding pulp magazines to the new kid who carried around copies of Moby Dick and I, Robot, I stopped reading comics. The switch came as Marvel expanded things and moved further from those superheroes who could be me if I was saturated by some radiation or born with a mutation to magical heroes and aliens. In the post-Endgame, Phase 4 MCU, I prefer Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye over Wandavision and Loki for that very reason. Thor was never gonna be my go-to.
Thor: Love and Thunder made me laugh throughout; it also left me a bit sad. Waititi is crossing over from that beautiful balance into outright nose-thumbing at the more serious side of the stories. Sure, he introduces Jane Foster having Stage 4 cancer but it feels low-stakes. No one—NO ONE—with Stage 4 cancer looks like a slightly sleep-deprived Natalie Portman. The butt of so many of the gags is that, rather than Thor evolving from his earlier pain and incredible loss, apparently he's just stupid. A buffoon like Drax rather than, you know, Thor. Korg has gone from funny side character who is oblivious and cute to insufferable.
I recognize that watching people in LARPing costumes is sort of silly but previous films and streaming shows use color saturation in such a way to de-emphasize the fakeness of the uniforms. Taika films it so that Thor looks like he's wearing an obviously plastic breastplate with a velour cape purchased from a Halloween store. No Thor-nipples on the costume yet but I can see them coming.
In Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi adds a hysterical moment with a theatrical troupe spoofing theatrical troupes and playing out the glorification of Loki. It's a short bit, it's pretty funny, and it forwards the story by underscoring the fact that Loki fucked over Odin and replaced him and Thor needs to make that right. In Thor: Love and Thunder the same troupe, the same gag, gets three times the screen time to do nothing for the plot except to mock the serious moments in the previous film.
That's why this movie left me a little less thrilled, a little less entertained, a little less. It felt lazy and self-congratulatory rather than an earnest approach to the characters. It felt like Joel Schumacher came in and said "Hey. I know the stuff Burton did was good but I really have zero respect for any of that shit. Let's get funny! Let's get a fat Zeus who speaks in broken English and take the opportunity to show Hemsworth's naked ass. Right? That shit is hysterical!"
BEST
Jackass Forever Directed by Jeff Tremaine
Some people like the Marx Brothers. Others prefer The Three Stooges. I'm a Stooge man.
Thus, when I watched Jackass Forever in the theater, I laughed so hard, for so long, I felt weakened when the lights came up. I hadn't laughed that hard in ages. Knoxville and Co. introduce some younger versions of themselves and grown people getting the shit knocked out of them for no reason but to laugh is golden.
And that's my list. It isn't Sight and Sound but I call 'em as I see 'em, gang.
Rock on!

Skiptrace (2016)
Tumblr media
Skiptrace is one of those “in the middle” movies. You can watch it and have a good time no problem. I’d watch a sequel but to call it a good movie? That's a stretch. So there it is. Halfway between good and bad.
Hong Kong detective Bennie Chan (Jackie Chan) has to track down an American conman, Connor Watts (Johnny Knoxville). That's the price to save his adoptive daughter Samantha (Fan Bingbing), who's being held by criminals who believe she helped Watts steal from their casino.
Do you like Rush Hour? Ever wanted to see Chris Tucker swapped out for a white guy? Then see Skiptrace. The worst thing about this film is the lame and predictable ending. The second worst thing is the story, which is on autopilot. Every scene of Chan and Watts interacting has been done before. It’s sort of what you expect out of a Jackie Chan movie where he plays a cop and has to “team up” with someone who isn’t Asian. It's fun but more could’ve been done. That’s particularly true when you see the chemistry between Knoxville and Chan. It makes sense. Their backgrounds couldn't be more different but they're both physical comedians who aren’t afraid of getting hurt if it means someone will laugh. Recognizing this, they should've been given better material.
Skiptrace is funny on more than one occasion. I also enjoyed some of the side characters, such as Eve Tores (yes, the wrestler) as a recurring thug and Fan Bingbing as Samantha. The cinematography is pretty good (many cool shots of the Chinese countryside), and the stunts will satisfy Chan’s fans. Those are enough to prevent you from getting bored with the film.
Aside from the plot, other weaknesses include the been-there-done-that jokes and some questionable and awfully convenient developments. You can forgive them somewat because you’re having fun. Then, there’s the ending. I won’t give it away, but the longer it lasts, the worse it gets. First there’s a lame twist. No. "Lame" is too small. It’s a revelation that will make you go “wow, really? You thought that was a good idea? I would’ve preferred almost ANYTHING else.” Then, we get a half-hearted and totally out-of-character action by a villainous character so that we can suddenly “like” him, but it doesn’t work. Skiptrace was pushing its boulder up this steep hill and was almost at the top… but then decided to skimp out on the effort. In no time at all, that rock was back at the bottom. The good faith you put in it hardly seems like it was worth it.
Whenever Skiptrace subverts your expectations, it follows up its effort with a decision that make no sense. Every good joke is paired with a good five minutes of lazy writing. Then, there’s Renny Harlan’s direction. At first, it’s a scramble of who knows what that repeats scenes and regurgitates information repeatedly. Then it settles down and becomes more sensible, but that doesn’t make the final product anything more than profoundly average. (On Blu-ray, July 7, 2017)

Fan Bingbing continues to be at Cannes and it continues to pay dividends. I am impressed at how well she does there. Not in the sense that it is unexpected but it does seem like every look manages to be out of the park every time. Those stairs at Cannes have seen some things, I could have just made this post pictures of her against those railings over the years and it would have been top flight. In my opinion at least. I suppose some people might disagree. As a matter of fact, I will say anyone who doesn't reblog this disagrees. Some people would say that will include the vast majority of the world and i would say you are right and people who reblog this are smarter and have better taste than anyone who doesn't reblog it. Some could argue with that but they'd have to reblog it to do so and I think they'd come to see things my way if they did. Anyway, she manages to look elegant and beautiful in a way that is really hard to articulate. Like... there is a grace to her that not a lot of people ever manage. I post a lot of very attractive women here but grace is it's own thing and she possesses it. So here she is. Today I want to fuck Fan Bingbing.

━◈ WANTED CONNECTIONS ... three new ones have been added to the page!
there are tales of how li haoyu is searching for their two younger siblings, which is familial in nature. the records show that they are about 22-28 years old and their photographs look like dylan wang, lu yuxiao, zhao lusi, ju jingyi, fan chengcheng, yan an, song yuqi, xiao dejun, wang ziyi, sun yihan, bi wenjun, shen yue, wang yijin, chen zhuoxuan, wang zhuocheng, chen zheyuan, wu lei, lin yanjun, liu lingzi, any chinese fc in the appropriate age range. help us find them, but make sure that you speak to karin at @kencanas on tumblr beforehand. this is their story so far: a lot of haoyu’s siblings’ personalities are utp and we can discuss the details! but their shared backstory is that the li family is local to cynefin and are very rooted to the land. they’re literally just a normal family working normal jobs, with haoyu for example being a blacksmith. they do okay, but i definitely don’t imagine them to be Rich & the eldest two siblings at least probably did not get tertiary education. affinity for khemia across their bloodline is also very poor, but i’m down to discuss one of the siblings potentially being khemia-touched for the #drama because haoyu is very bitter they aren’t. tldr; details utp!
there are tales of how li haoyu is searching for their employer, which is platonic/professional in nature. the records show that they are about 40+ years old and their photographs look like omar sy, qin lan, michael greyeyes, zahn mcclarnon, aishwarya rai, gabrielle union, lukman sardi, jericho rosales, lucy liu, simone kessell, vera farmiga, alexander skarsgard, sandra oh, maggie q, gong yoo, lupita nyong’o, tessa thompson, alex meraz, pedro pascal, ke huy quan, fan bingbing, joe taslim, fc ultimately utp. help us find them, but make sure that you speak to karin at @kencanas on tumblr beforehand. this is their story so far: haoyu apprenticed at the local blacksmith’s forged upon graduating secondary school and has remained working there ever since. haoyu has (or at least had) a pretty good relationship with them, especially since he’s quite disciplined and passionate about his work. i imagine that because haoyu doesn’t have an affinity for khemia, however, it’s hard for him to progress in his career. would love if this muse is trained in transmutation & that is causing a bit of a rift between the two of them—because without khemia, haoyu can’t get to their level. this muse’s personality & how they ended up becoming a blacksmith really are all utp, and i’m more than happy to brainstorm further details.
there are tales of how li haoyu is searching for their narrative foil/rival, which is antagonistic in nature. the records show that they are about 27-33 years old and their photographs look like go younjung, do kyungsoo, pat chayanit, woo dohwan, melisa asli pamuk, apo nattawin, taz skylar, avan jogia, fady elsayed, sakaguchi kentaro, medalion rahimi, daniel ezra, alisha boe, damson idris, jackson wang, tiana okoye, ryan destiny, kylie verzosa, dilraba dilmurat, clark backo, gong jun, kang haneul, adonis bosso, pinar deniz, ashika pratt, bie thassapak hsu, fc ultimately utp. help us find them, but make sure that you speak to karin at @kencanas on tumblr beforehand. this is their story so far: the main thing i’m looking for with this muse is that they have a strong affinity for khemia, particularly in transmutation, which would be something haoyu both hates and envies. i imagine their narratives would parallel and foil each other’s at the same time, but how that is exactly is up for discussion. all i ask is that at present, their relationship is largely antagonistic and Not Great. whether they have history or not can also be discussed! some ideas include but are not limited to an ex student of verum who was an outsider, haoyu’s work rival, a young business owner who takes advantage of their transmutation magic, someone who supplies weapons to the warfront, and many more. basically this dynamic is toxic, biting, and crazy.

{fan bingbing, thirty-nine, female, she/her} We are so glad to see you safe, PRINCESS DAIYU of CHINA! It’s dangerous out in the world these days, but I hear that you are BEGUILING and ZEALOUS enough to handle it. Just don’t let your ARROGANCE bring you down! Stay on your guard, because with your secret being at risk for exposure, you wouldn’t want everyone to find out THAT YOU’RE ACTIVELY SABOTAGING SOME OF YOUR SIBLINGS' CLAIM TO THE THRONE WHILE ANONYMOUSLY FINANCING OTHERS.

daiyu was the first born qing and for a large portion of her life, the princess and her siblings were under the impression the throne would one day be hers—much to her own displeasure. her upbringing was particular, befitting that of a future ruler, but the young princess couldn’t help but feel bitter over the things she missed out on. though the one thing she didn’t miss out on that her some of her biological siblings did was knowing their mother. she was everything daiyu wanted to be one day: elegant, intelligent, and magnanimous. she was the empress china deserved.
despite her reservations, she embraced her burden better than most, determined to be great like her mother. with little effort on her part, daiyu was soon adored by the people, it was a positive feeling she took too quickly. at a young age, she learned to use their adoration for self-gain. for a long period, it went entirely unnoticed and the young princess received a great number of gifts and favors.
by the time she was eighteen, her father had already begun to discuss the prospect of marriage but daiyu had other intentions; one her father didn’t seem to immediately dismiss. her first love was a young, skilled warrior who came from one of the finest families in china—and the princess knew her father couldn’t ask for more. until he did.
to marry a princess or serve as a general in the king’s army. the choice her love made was one daiyu never could have imagined, it left her feeling disconnected and alone in ways she hadn’t before. only a few months later, her mother died and she took her daughter’s sorrows with her. as though it were the only way she might save her first born from despair.
the loss of her mother seemed to stir something maternal within the oldest princess, she did far more to care for her younger siblings than was expected of her. nor did she expect anything in return.
there finally came a day when daiyu saw she needed more, to be more. something she couldn’t do without first securing a beneficial marriage. it wasn’t hard to find the right suitor, one her father approved of, but it was no secret that it was no love match. however, to marry the oldest son of china’s wealthiest families was nothing to turn one’s nose up at.
her marriage is happy, far more so than she’d have imagined it any number of years ago. when her father decree the throne was no longer a guarantee it lifted a weight off her shoulders she hadn’t realized she’d been carrying. and replaced it with a new worry, that the next ruler of china would be a mystery.
though the princess may not have the throne to back her decisions and overly ambitious power-plays, she has something she deems far more valuable: her husband’s money. and she’ll use it any way she needs to see the sibling she most desires sit on their father’s throne.

daiyu loves to be in control and if she’s not, she’ll do what she can to find a way to make it so. she doesn’t need to be front and center either, she’d rather do it from behind the scenes
she’s always had a sort of magnetic energy about her that has drawn others in and helped her be the center of attention. it took her a while to learn to use it to her advantage, now it’s more of a dangerous weapon than anything else
𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐜.
daiyu is a mother, she and her husband have two little girls. outwardly, they appear to be the most perfect little family and overall they are.
kai-ming holds a special place in her heart, due to how young she was when their mother died, daiyu felt the need to be there for her more than the others and it bonded them

her husband — oh sweet lawd pls someone bring me this. tho it certainly didn’t start out as a love match these two definitely have strong feelings of love for each other now, mostly born out of everything they’ve been through together. he’s low-key a simp for her so he’s happy to spend money however she wants
her lost love/the general — i’m a sucker for a love triangle, sue me. daiyu still doesn’t understand why he would ever pick duty over loving her, and believes it was the wrong choice. yet she somehow thinks she made the right choice in marrying her husband, make it make sense.
friends — could be any range of friend from very close to new acquaintances
enemies — I'm sure she's made plenty of these. could even be enemies of her husband's family.
