OK I'm still exhausted from my friends Christmas party/sleepover so I don't have all the pictures I'd like but I don't want to miss more of Solarpunk aesthetic week so join me on the journey of making the basin of a fountain that stopped working into a mini pond.
OK so for starring context this is placed in a corner of the garden right next to a wall for the next terrace, it's pretty shady because of the fence/wall and bushed surrounding it, my parents got home like 20 days ago and are yet to comment on it.
So first job was not actually the pond itself but using leftover brick from expanding the driveway and some stones with some rockery plants I got for cheap because of the time of year.
Other than the fountain this corner hadn't really been utilised so it was just soil and earlier in the year morning glories that kept coming in from the neighbours garden.
Look how pretty it is!
Obviously at this point I'd removed the fountain base and emptied out all the old water, not pictured here but I did clean it out before doing anything else.
The next step was creating a base, because everything was frozen at the time I couldn't do much, soil was literally frozen together I could hardly get any stones but it was still something and I'll improve it a little when the weather gets warmer.
Now the base was done it was time for some plants to make sure oxygen was being produced for any critters that may end up hanging there.
I got three different ones cause there was a deal and all that was left to do but I didn't get a picture of was fill it up with water.
It took a couple days to be able to do it because the tap and hose was frozen but its done now and while I haven't gotten round to taking a picture, last I saw it was still pretty clear which I'm taking as a good sign.
Obviously there won't be much wildlife there at the moment but hopefully come spring there will be.
