Alright, my AU.
(im honestly just going to ramble abt it, so it might not make sense lol im sorry if it does in advance....)
it's called the Babysitting Au (smart name i know,) it's abt phoenix babysitting nahyuta, ema, kay, sebastian, klavier, clay, apollo, athena, juniper, and trucy w simon and edgeworth and they get up to many devious plans in a nutshell.
but in a more proper way of explaining it, it's phoenix and everyone -- clay and juniper included,-- meeting a bit earlier than the original and he forms a relationship with them before every single tragedy in the series happens. (except for SL-9 and everything before that.) they all made a promise to meet everyone together one day bc ofc they do, they're silly kids! but all of them were serious about it.
and yes, everything is the same, except for nahyuta being here, apollo knowing trucy is his sister, athena meeting them, and some of them helping in the trials.
im still working on how nahyuta got here (i did have an idea, but i think it needs some fixing idk yet) but the old reasoning is bc he begged dhurke to let him come w apollo and his parents and he can come back anytime he wishes to. (also yes jove lives a little bit longer, trucy is still going to be apollo's half-sister tho so shawdy smith is still here)
ema is going to be buddies w clay bc they both like science, even if it's two different types. also ema finally has someone to talk abt science to! yay! it'd be a shame if she pushes this person away!
clay is friends w athena too bc i know in my heart that athena knows abt space and mythology bc metis would tell her myths from greek and japanese mythology bc greek myths and the stars are quite connected (look at the names of some well-known constellations like cassiopeia, the argo/argonavis, and -- the most obvious one -- orion.), there are also some other japanese myths that r connected to the stars and stuff so u know. (izanagi being the god of space and the star-crossed lovers from what i remember, i don't know much japanese myths abt the stars, only the sun and moon w the yatagarasu, that one time amaterasu stayed in a cave for a few months, etc., etc.)
oh yeah juniper is that kid who makes little handmade gifts for all her friends and everyone cherishes every gift from her. like she would make them paper bracelets for everyone -- even edgeworth, but kay is the one who delivers it to him -- and she would sometimes use plastic, making the bracelets feel extra special (and shiny!)
also, byrne gets to live in this au bc if he's dead kay wouldn't be able to meet the others in the au now would she? (he just got badly injured when callisto stabbed him, badd took care of kay while he was in the hospital and bc of the whole almost getting murdered thing thanks to his job made him not want to work in a job connected to law anymore.) but kay still goes to her relatives after a bit, which causes them to make that promise, this time w byrne!
and yes some of the kids show up in the trilogy except for some flashbacks, not all of them will see each other, only some of them.
im not talking abt anything after the trilogy bc i haven't reached that part w my writing so this all i'll say lol.

riz would absolutely love ace attorney. the ridiculous characters and plot lines remind him of his adventures and all the people he's met along the way, but not in a way that would trigger any ptsd he might have. it's silly and campy and solving the mysteries is fun and challenging because the cases are so insane. he really relates Apollo. Kristen teaches him about kin lists after he starts talking about it with her. he doesn't mention how he relates to Apollo's money struggles, too.
He got into ace attorney after sklonda starts going all in on becoming a lawyer. he plays the entire trilogy during the long stretches of driving on the night yorb quest. he thinks the games are accurate to the legal system, and he's using them to learn about it so he can talk about it with his mom. she appreciates the effort but is so confused when he says something about how crazy it is trials can only last for three days, right? and why is it so much harder on the defense than the prosecution? she explains solace's legal system to riz after that. he's glad that the games brought him and his mom closer together, even if it wasn't how he intended.
some of the other kids in the AV club have played them, too. they talk about it at meetings when they run out of other topics. adaine gets into the games too. they talk about how biz reminds them of sal manilla and how adaine sees herseld and aelwyn in edgeworth and franziska. they talk about the weirder cases in front of the other bad kids and make them guess which thing is fake. they confuse and frighten the other bad kids with these very silly games.

Stray Gods vs Change, Part 2
Why does Stray Gods keep mentioning family?
That was a genuine question, I'm not sure what the answer is. This post is going to be my thoughts and I'd really appreciate some discussion in response because again, I'm not quite sure.
SPOILERS BELOW
Tumblr media
So, to say that Stray Gods mentions family dynamics several times is an understatement. Persephone, Orpheus, Hermes, the whole deal with the Idols list goes on. And there is a distinct repetition that comes up. Most of these dynamics are dysfunctional.
The Idol family is the obvious one. The myths of the Greek Gods can be summarised by one main quote from Disney's Hercules, of all films.
Tumblr media
Essentially, the Greek Deities are one massive family tree. It doesn't have the healthiest of dynamics (to put it mildly), but they coexist. In Stray Gods, there is a notable absence of Hera and Zeus, the two parent figures of the Olympians. Dameter is also deceased, and her direct daughter is one of the main characters. As a result, the Idols feel directionless, there is no closure there. On a similar note, Apollo's sister is missing as well. Essentially, they feel like a shattered family.
Tumblr media
Athena has become the mother figure, although she's not good at it. She's a sister trying to be a parent and you can tell by her demeanor. She's overcompensating and antagonistic and a lot of elder siblings in real life who have been through similar experiences show similar characteristics.
On a different note, Persephone has killed Hades, for understandable reasons. It's a horrifically abusive relationship that ended in bloodshed.
Similarly, Hermes makes a passing reference that i noticed when asked how they knew the old Hermes.
Tumblr media
This keeps coming up.
But then we get three relationships I thought were interesting. Grace and Freddie, Asterion and Hecate, and Aphrodite and Eros.
Grace and Freddie are close. Historians will say they were the best of friends. Even if you don't romance Freddie, the two are family. Best friends who live together, etc. If you do romance Freddie, you get an Orpheus plot to bring her back to life, literally meeting the previous Orpheus as you go. But where Orpheus failed his quest because of a lack of trust, you can succeed, or not, I'm not gonna tell you how to save Freddie.
Tumblr media
Then we have Asterion and Hecate. First of all, I didn't consent to have my freestyling singing capability so perfectly replicated by my sweet minotaur boy, and Summerfall will be hearing from my lawyers. On a serious note, this relationship is so wholesome and I love it, if you make it work in the story. They are proof that there can be a healthy relationship in this weird world.
Tumblr media
Finally, we come to my favourite moment of the entire musical. I've already gone into detail on the Ritual as a song in a different post, so go check that one out (I crave validation from the internet people). But the challenge here is can you soothe this broken family here? Can this work? If you choose the green path, Eros gives a fantastic verse.
"Mother, I've stood by your side, now I no longer see, the purpose of love, when it tears at the centre of me. My arrows are rusty, forget the bow, and I won't be begging you not to go. But when you're away, you leave us a broken home..."
Tumblr media
My arrows are rusty, forget the bow. Is a phenomenal metaphor for a loss of purpose, but I would like to focus on the last two lines. When you're away, you leave us a broken home, and you leave me alone. The characters here are aware they are falling apart and they are desperate to try and reconnect, and if you play your cards right, you can help. You don't "fix their relationship", you just give it a nudge. You don't repair the scars in this family, but you convince them to talk to each other.
That, my friends, is a microcosm of the entire plot of the story. Can you fix this broken family? No. But you can get them to talk to each other and convince them to try.
The story goes out of its way to say that some relationships cannot be salvaged. Some families are too far separated for that, but in this situation, you can give people who are hurting a nudge towards peace.
Tumblr media
So, why does this musical keep bringing up family? And what does that have to do with the title of this post?
Well, because it is a story about change, and how to move on into a different world. Grace quits college before the story begins and doesn't know what to do, and the Idols have no idea how to navigate the new world.
The theme that the story presents (in my most humble of opinions) is this: "for things to get better, you have to be willing to change." You have to step out of your comfort zone to find the love of your life. You need to change direction and start running together instead of away to find peace with your family. And, you have to take the lessons you have learned and become someone more mature, not necessarily someone different, but someone who is capable of adapting to a wild world.

If one more person calls Athena's design bad I'm gonna have a brain aneurism I actually can't with you people.
In the Dual Destinies artbook, it is stated that Athena was specifically designed to have a more manga/anime influenced appearance, and I think they accomplished that with flying colors.
She doesn't look the same as Phoenix and Apollo, but that was never their intention at all. Whether you LIKE the direction they went with her design is of course, entirely subjective, but you cannot call it a failure of a design.
BUT ANYWAY I'm about to justify many design elements that I've seen people criticize.
Tumblr media
The side ponytail. ONE THAT I'VE SEEN MANY PEOPLE DISOWN FOR... Seemingly no reason? Either way it's clearly stated here that the side ponytail was used to make her silhouette more distinguishable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her more futuristic elements were also VERY MUCH INTENTIONAL- Not to mention they are quite literally justified within the game, with Athena having been raised in a robotics lab at the space center, and having a very heavy technology motif, especially with widget.
I've also seen people complain about her boots, to which I say I think they do a good job matching the rest of her color scheme as well as furthering the futuristic/manga vibe they were going for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, both the boots and the side ponytail were prevalent in a lot of these early designs, and they also played around with the idea of her ponytail resembling a music note.
Tumblr media
As you can see, the overly futuristic vibe was always there, and she was never intended to just LOOK like an ordinary lawyer- And honestly, I'm glad they did something like this to distinguish Athena from both Apollo and Phoenix.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her wearing primarily yellow helps to tie her in, but she also stands out in her own way, which makes sense, since neither Apollo or Phoenix were designed to reflect their backstories or specific themes.
Phoenix was literally designed to be a lawyer, and Apollo was literally designed to be another Phoenix (no offense, I love Apollo and his design haha).
Not to mention they do a good job sticking to the few distinct colors they chose for her, bright yellow, blue, and white. Which reflect her personality perfectly- Like, you get what she's all about the second she comes on screen.
I guess this is why the claims that she is over designed seem to piss me off to no end. AGAIN- She is definitely more detailed than Phoenix and Apollo, and is definitely a departure from the style of the series, but that doesn't make the design cluttered or bad.
Tumblr media
NOT TO MENTION- Athena was the first protagonist to be specifically designed to become a 3d model. And it makes sense that they would utilize that medium in a way for her design DIFFERENTLY than those of her 2d predecessors- So again, the extra detail makes sense.
SO ANYWAYS- Long story short, got really sick of people echoing opinions about Athena's design being bad, so I wanted to educated anyone reading on why I personally think that she is the best designed protagonist in the ace attorney series- And her design is deserving of a lot more love.

Elaborations under the cut
1- based off of the official art where half the time he's drinking he's just passed out or he's just smiling at nothing. I can see him becoming a functioning alcoholic who drinks mostly because it helps him sleep but I don't think he would want to be that vulnerable in his daily life, especially when hanging out with Kristoph.
2- He was just as spikey as a baby, but also the style seems intentional rather than just how it grows.
3- PW vs PL reference? idk the vibe that in an alternate timeline where he forgets that he's a lawyer he becomes a baker with Maya is just fun so I think he just likes baking in general. Also, I'm a sucker for those AUs where he's a baker. He seems like the type to get stuck in his head while kneading bread dough and regularly makes those kinds of breads that have to basically be beat up to get his anger out. No therapy, only bread.
4- This feels self-explanatory, he can also dance, at least in the way that he can pick up choreography and bullshit his way through any performance. I also think it would be sweet if he sang lullabies to Trucy while she was growing up.
5- There are multiple instances where he passes out from stress and his internal dialogue mentions that he's 'feeling lightheaded' like GIRL... GO TO THE DOCTOR. And he did but that meant that he can't drive in case he gets too stressed driving and passes out... which would not be good.
6- Again, self-explanatory, this man has an abnormal brain, good for him.
7- I don't exactly know what he has tattooed on him but I can see this guy, who is unaffected by pain and also an art major, having a few designs on him. Maybe a dragon winding around his shoulder or a few little silly things on his legs and arms. He doesn't really flaunt them and everyone gets surprised when its the combined prosecutors office and WAA beach day.
8- The magatama should make him look a little spooky, I think it would be fun. Also, I think he should use it to jumpscare anyone who is around while he is sneaking into his kitchen to eat baby carrots when he wants a midnight snack.
9- I've spoken about this before and I will probably do so again, I just think he needs an awful cat as a pet project when Trucy moves out and he gets lonely. It's a better outlet than trying to fix a person who might fake their death or try to poison him.
10- You cannot tell me that undefeated poker player extraordinaire isn't completely in control of his tells as much as he possibly can be. He can dodge questions and provide perfectly true but vague answers. I just think he can be so incredibly cagey and secretive when he has to be, even though he's typically pretty emotionally open. He learned it from Mia (Ms. 'didn't tell Phoenix she had a sister even though they've known each other for years' Fey)

Assorted headcanons about Phoenix and the seven year gap because it lives rent free in my head and I must yell
-I made another post about it but Edgeworth was the first to hear about State v Enigmar and Maya was the first to see Phoenix in person after he's disbarred (and the first to meet Trucy)
-Originally Phoenix and Trucys situation was just him fostering her at first, not an immediate adoption of her, largely cause Phoenix was hoping for her sake that Zak would eventually come back to AT LEAST see her, but after like- year 2 of Zak being gone, it turned into an actual adoption of her and she legally became Trucy Wright (although she had started going by that name a few months beforehand)
-The first year for Phoenix was- Well Rough To Say The Least, he ended up getting into a l o t of fights with both Maya and Edgeworth and started really pushing them away (never in front of Trucy but she could tell something was going on) largely cause in his mindset at the time he didn't really think they understood what was going on (which he very much realized was VERY stupid considering who he was talking to) and eventually it ended in both Maya and Edgeworth staging something of an intervention and being like "hey man your being a huge dick to both of us we're trying to help you through this but also whats going on in that head", they ended up finally actually Talking and settled things for once, things got better after that! slowly yet surely
-After the bar association trial, Phoenix was the first to approach Kristoph for believing him, and that where their friendship started (Kristoph was going to just do regular ol stalking instead but decided that being "friends" with him would probably be easier here so he went with it)
- personally my least favourite interpretation of the 7yg is where Phoenix knows that kristoph was the one who framed him all along, like idk it's just not very interesting to me, it's kinda boring ghjkhlj I absolutely where people are coming from with it though but idk hgjkhl it's lame to me
- Even though Phoenix was no clue whether or not he's going to become a lawyer again and pretty much had adapted to his new life, he always has that little thought in his mind that if he becomes one again, everything in his life will get better instantly, he'll be useful again (spoiler alert, it doesn't immediately fix his life! he has Depression)
-Around year 2 was when Edgeworth started bringing over Phoenix and Trucy to Europe (in my mind he spends about half the year in Europe and Half in America), while he DID give the reason that he needed Phoenixs help with a case or two (and that wasn't an outright lie) largely he just wanted to spend time with the two of them and didn't know how else to express it, by year 5 Phoenix caught on to what he was doing and found it VERY funny, after that their trips were much less law focused
-Phoenix met Athena in Europe in Year 3 and kept in contact with her until she arrived in America, and oh BOY can she tell he is very upset
-Eventually he does go to therapy like- after DD, at the insistence of Athena and Trucy (it takes him a bit cause he's one stubborn man but he gets there eventually!)
-He started growing out his hair and realized that he did actually like this hair longer so he kept it!
-While he does not regret making Apollo use the forged ace in court, he does hope that one day they'll be able to mend things since he knows it hurt Apollo a lot, he cares about Apollo but is giving Apollo the space he needs to make that choice on his own, he's very proud of both him and Athena
-Trucy gave him her second earring so they could match! He nearly sobbed when she did that hgjkhl He did have to get his ears pierced to wear it but dw he was very brave about it
ok thats all I can remember rn enjoy HJGKH

AA4-2, Investigation Day 1, is such a unique investigation day. One thing the Ace Attorney brand has always excelled at is shaking things up with introductions to its cases.
Sometimes it's simple. Someone comes to the office and goes, "Hey man there's a murder will you defend" and the attorney goes "Yeah man I got you" and then we're off to conduct our trial preparations.
But other case introductions are more... unconventional. Given the circumstances, 4-2 has no choice but to be an oddball.
The Wright & Co. Law Offices don't exist anymore and, having just successfully sent his boss to prison for murder, Apollo is obviously fucking fired from Gavin & Co. So. Even though Apollo is licensed to practice law, there is no law office for a prospective client to walk into.
Which means we gotta get creative with three odd jobs in place of a typical crime investigation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Three seemingly unrelated requests that all seem more like police work than attorney business. This sure is a weird way to introduce the second chapter of a lawyer game. The first time I played this, I was very confused and spent much of the chapter wondering when the lawyering was going to kick in. Much like how Apollo feels.
This chapter's introduction is very off-putting. Intentionally so, but I do wonder if the extremely unconventional nature of this setup is part of what alienated the player base.
Guy Eldoon, incidentally, is a pretty significant piece of Ace Attorney lore that doesn't quite come across in the American version. In the original Japanese, Maya's "burger" obsession was an obsession with "ramen". They localized it into burgers to try and make the game American back in AA1.
The series has been paying the price for the decision to localize ever since, as it's had to wind itself increasingly in knots to try and explain away how aggressively Japanese many parts of it are. One of the consequences of that decision is that Guy Eldoon loses his punch.
The reason Eldoon's Noodles is such a big deal is because this is the noodle vendor that Maya was getting all that ramen from. Her burger supplier, if you will. This man's family legacy of noodle stands is a critical piece of Ace Attorney lore, but he and his stand are also so obviously noodle-designed that it'd be impossible to try and call it a burger grill. So the bit just. Broke.
Without that vital piece of context, funny jokes like this simply don't land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HA! It's funny because Maya is fucking obsessed with burgers ramen so of course Phoenix had a tab back in his attorney days!
Meanwhile, not to be left out, Trucy's here with the references to the good ol' days as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is absolutely Phoenix's kid. She's absorbed his talent at being pedantic incorrectly on the topic of ladders.
In any case, these three seemingly unrelated events are fairly trivial to solve, but they begin to weave together the complicated tale of a bizarre and inscrutable crime spree last night that sees even the local yakuza family hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What makes this investigation really interesting from a creative standpoint is that all of these seemingly unrelated errands come together in the end to paint a picture of a single crime.
But. What makes it frustrating from a player standpoint is that until you become aware of that, it just feels like you're running around doing pointless errands. Ultimately, I like the idea of this case introduction more than its execution.
It ultimately becomes a huge relief when an actual client finally makes themselves known. Courtesy of Trucy having shrewd yet amoral business sense.
Tumblr media
Trucy do not sell our services to the yakuza thank you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Too late. We're mob lawyers now. Now we get to defend this dipshit.
Tumblr media
I particularly love Bad Badger there on his shirt. This wannabe gangster is running around wearing a cartoon mascot of a stereotypical Crime Dude as depicted in police propaganda. That's like self-identifying as the archnemesis of McGruff the Crime Dog.
I genuinely can't decide if he's trying too hard or just the right amount of hard. It's such a perfect combination of gangster edge and childish dipshit. I love his shirt so much.
In any case, once the hurdle of the opening errands is cleared, we pick up our two new additions to the game's principle cast. First being our rival prosecutor Klavier Gavin.
Gavin's intro is a little gross, gotta say. I like Gavin's role in the plot, but they're going for this suave rockstar aesthetic. He's both the "rockstar" of the court who vanquished legendary attorney Phoenix Wright seven years ago and literally a rockstar.
To that end, we see him (24) flirt with Apollo (22)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...which is fine. But he also does it with Trucy (15).
Tumblr media
Gross thing to call a minor, dude. Godot was a weird creep too but at least he didn't hit on underage girls. So this isn't a great first impression to the game's main plot-important rival.
Fortunately, it's quickly followed up by the triumphant return of Ema Skye, who was retconned into existence just two years before Apollo Justice's release to tease her presence in the new status quo. She immediately endears herself by being equally grossed out by Gavin.
Tumblr media
The thing I really like about All Grow'd Up Ema is that her personality's changed from the girl we knew in Rise From the Ashes. She's still Ema where it counts.
(Hahahahaha look at it! That's it! That is the burger joint! Serving ramen, ramen, ramen, and rice ball! I bet you Maya's favorite was probably the ramen, medium grilled with tomatoes and lettuce.)
Tumblr media
Still a determined forensic analyst at heart. But it's been nine years since last time we saw her, and she was only 16 years old when we knew her before. People change a lot between 16 and 25, so it'd be weird if she was still the same ol' Ema through and through.
Ema's here to be our new Detective Gumshoe. But the wide-eyed optimism of youth has been replaced by jaded bitterness at a career path that hasn't been so glamorous as she once imagined.
Tumblr media
And one that has driven her to a newfound snacking habit. This is a character trait I adore. It reflects the classic stereotype of the whiskey-addicted detective worn down by life and with no more fucks to give, except her drug of choice is chocolate.
Tumblr media
Incidentally, I had to take so many pictures of this woman eating to get that one frame where she pops the Snackoo into her mouth that now I feel like a total creep so let's move on.
Point is, Ema's new disgruntled attitude is a lot of fun, and makes for a sharp contrast against the easygoing and carefree nature of Dick Gumshoe. Though she becomes less hostile and combative with Apollo and Trucy once she learns who they are....
Tumblr media
And though her attitude improves tremendously any chance she gets to whip out her forensic tools....
Tumblr media
Her demeanor towards her actual job remains sour. Though we do get some explanation as to why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Gumshoe, the joke was always just dunking on his salary for fun. Haha, Gumshoe screwed up and now the prosecutor's angrily cutting his salary! He has to subsist on cup ramen! LOL
Which can be aggravating as a "running joke" if you know what it is to be poor.
That's not to say there wasn't more to Gumshoe's character. He was a good-natured nice guy with a tendency to miss subtle details. He liked giving his all for his "team" even though the prosecutors rarely appreciated him, but he also respected the defense and even put himself into physical danger to protect them from violence multiple times.
Gumshoe was a great character, and he will be missed.
Ema's point of friction with her job is a lot more character-driven. Because we had time to get to know her back when she was wide-eyed and optimistic, we can feel it when she expresses that this is a waste of her talents. She should be in a lab doing DNA analysis on a bloodstained knife, not picking it out of dirt and putting it in a bag for the prosecutors' office.
Ema is a welcome addition to this new cast.
With all that sorted out, there's just two characters left for the investigation day to introduce. Since we're mob lawyers now, thanks Trucy, we gotta meet the mob. We met Little Plum and her sword-concealing sweeping broom earlier. But we also need to meet the head of the yakuza with a distinctive Godfather look about him.
Tumblr media
And our client, the ever-rebellious Wocky Kitaki desperate to make a criminal name for himself.
Tumblr media
Though our time with them is brief, it quickly becomes apparent what our biggest conflict of this trial is going to be: Our dumbass client wants to go down for murder, because he is a child of a criminal culture who feels like he has something to prove - despite his family's efforts to convince him otherwise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wocky reminds me a lot of Ron DeLite. This is hardly our first time at the defense stand having to battle our own stupid client who's all too eager to confess - Something that, in actual case law, wouldn't be a thing? Like. If your client wants to plead guilty, you can't stop them. But Ace Attorney takes extreme artistic liberties with the law.
(Remember that one time when Phoenix's client fired him in the middle of a case, and for no clear reason he was allowed to remain in the courtroom and continue defending her anyway? Good times. Also, hi, Ema!)
But the difference is that Ron was a gentleman thief and Wocky's a teenage wannabe gangster, so the difference in temperament is palpable.
All in all, this investigation is... meandering. While a fun idea in theory, chasing down all these errands can easily leave the player just... waiting for the plot to start. There's a lot of busywork here, right down to Ema making you leave the crime scene to go talk to Phoenix so that you can come back and talk to Ema only this time she's cooperative.
The Kitaki family are a fun set of characters once they're introduced. Eldoon's Noodles is a significant piece of Ace Attorney lore if you're familiar enough with the non-localized version to catch it. Ema's return is a lot of fun. Trucy's charming and likable. But the connective tissue between all these things needed work, I think.

30 Ace Attorney Headcanons!
It's been a while ever since I made one of these.
1. Iris is now out of prison and she runs a small business, she is doing very well for herself.
2. Iris visits The WAA from time to time and keeps up with their news.
3. Klavier broke down after the events of AJ:AA
4. When Klavier isn't feeling well, he goes back to his home country which is Germany for a while and comes back when he feels better.
5. Daryan was plotting to kill Klavier and he only became friends with Klavier for money and fame.
6. Phoenix not only exorcised Dahlia from Maya's body, he also shattered her spirit. So now Dahlia no longer exists, not even in the afterlife.
7. Maya offered to channel Claire for Layton when she found out about her. Layton politely declined. "A true gentleman lets his partner rest in peace."
8. Vera's blood allowed scientists to create a vaccine to many illnesses.
9. In honor/honour of Phoenix Wright, Miles changed his whole court outfit and wore a suit and tie just like Phoenix's but in black for the entire disbarment of Phoenix.
10. Maya replays old conversations with Mia on the phone.
11. PLVSAA is canon. And it took Maya 9 years to become the master of her village because she forgot how to channel spirits after she was brainwashed into believing that she's a baker.
12. The insanity of the prosecutors' building and The WAA is weirdly comforting to Miles.
13. Manfred wanted his children to be perfect prosecutors and get full grades in all important lessons. As a result, Franziska and Miles barely passed art and music and Franziska even failed music in 7th grade.
14. Yanni Yogi's parrot, Polly, was given to the Kura'in village after he went to prison.
15. Apollo named his rabbit after Clay.
16. Godot lost his sense of taste and he's trying to make new coffee blends to get it back.
17. Godot used his lawyer skills to get a lower sentence and he is out of prison by AJ:AA.
18. Despite her being guilty, Aura was found "Not Guilty" in her trial.
19. Kristoph is becoming more disconnected with reality with each passing day.
20. Trucy, Athena and Klavier all get along so well because they all have severe ADHD.
21. Jean Greyerl became a chemist.
22. Zacharias Barnham and Eve Belduke both became actual prosecutors.
23. Meanwhile Espella Cantabella became an author, director and an animator.
24. Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright are still in contact and they also visit Labyrinthia every once in a while.
25. In 2029, the entire main Ace Attorney cast are all planning a trip to Labyrinthia. Every single person.
26. Pearl got her driver's license at 16 and has a car that Iris bought for her.
27. Espella and Eve painted the walls making them a gradient of colors and drew things such as open books with dragons coming out of them, witches on broomsticks, huge machines, and things like that on the walls of the Bell Tower.
28. Labyrinthia is now officially on and it is marked on maps.
29. After the events of PLVSAA, Phoenix and Miles sat down in Miles's office and Phoenix explained EVERYTHING that happened in great detail.
30. Phoenix lost his magatama in Labyrinthia but Espella found it later. That's why he couldn't see psyche licks throughout the whole game.

— BIOGRAPHY WHAT IS ONE TO MAKE OF THE BOY HANDED EVERYTHING AND STILL LEFT YEARNING FOR SOMETHING MORE? When Seong-Hoon is born, he is everything parents desire. They are your picture perfect middle class couple, with aspirations  for their children to follow their dreams. Seong-Hoon and his younger sister become the apple of their parents eyes— childhood arts and crafts projects and A+ assignments are the pinnacle of the Ajai household’s decorations. Seong-Hoon lives for such praise, and its only when he realizes he would receive it regardless, no matter how menial the feat, that he grows disinterested. There is nothing to actively work toward, not when anything he does becomes solid gold in his parents’ eyes.
When Seong-Hoon attends high school, he does so with a goal in mind. To become something more than he presently is— to be someone successful in ways that would surpass his family’s current standing in society. Seong-Hoon is diligent— and well-rounded in athletics, sports, and extracurriculars. His parents worry he’s stretching himself too thin, he assures them that when you want something bad enough, there’s no such thing. He recognizes this difference in ideation. It’s why they were able to be so content with their present, mundane existences. They would never wholly understand where he was coming from.
When the time comes to attend university, Seong-Hoon is picking between several Ivys, but he settles on Harvard, where he would remain for his Bachelors and eventual Juris Doctor. He returns home, a newly minted lawyer— acquiring a job as a public offender. He’s a damn good lawyer— (for mediocrity was never his style), and knows he can be a better one if given the opportunity to do so. Somewhere along the way, he crosses paths with MARCIA RAMOS. In her, he recognizes a mutual hunger, an insatiability and intensity he’d only encountered within himself. They take New York City by storm.
It is when they’re at their peak that BURNING GODS makes them an offer. Seong-Hoon, a newly minted assistant district attorney, is moved by the suggestion that he could reach the title of district attorney in record timing. It’s fairly easy to get Marcia on board— with the promise of their mutual glory, there were few lengths they weren’t willing to go to. He loves her for this very reason, and it is the same reason that he eventually goes to despise her. When you’re willing to give up everyone and everything, no matter the risk or cost, how could it not extend to the person who sleeps beside you every night?
The divorce comes and goes with ease— custody and the assets are easily split. Their sole child had presently been enrolled in boarding school anyhow, coming home occasionally for holidays— spending a significant time with his parents. (He could never be half the parents they were— there simply wasn’t a paternal bone in his body. Fatherhood is left on the wayside in the pursuit of glory.) He understands why him and Marcia couldn’t be together. They’re too much alike for one. After all, bad people rarely made for good marriages. This is the simple truth of the matter.
Burning Gods gives Seong-Hoon everything he desires and more. He is granted the position of District Attorney— and it is difficult for the public not to love him. Sure, a time eventually arrives when rumors of Seong-Hoon's mob ties begin circulating, but Seong-Hoon appears practically unmoved in the public eye. A natural time, and a desire to please (when it directly benefits him, of course) had already gotten him this far. Besides, when your district attorney just so happens to be an underboss of one of the most powerful national crime syndicates, then purifying the public of mafia influence became easier said than done.  Seong-Hoon Baek is here to stay— intoxicated by the idea of his own infallibility.
— ; TLDR
definitely would be part of a trading group
never satisfied overachiever attends prestigious college
becomes a public defender with the attention of moving up the ranks
gets married to a fellow social climber and is eventually recruited by burning gods
they help him become district attorney heehee
— ; WANTED PLOTS
someone sus of his potential mafia ties
someone he potentially betrayed to get ahead
seong-hoon is a kiss-ass, maybe it turned into something more but he was still really just after the material gain
a friend? they do dumb expensive things and it's probably extremely superficial

1,3,5,6 and 15! I love women <3
hi faye!! 🩷 i already know this gonna be long hooboy
1. One of your favorite female characters?
frederica aesfrost triangle strategy. that is my GIRL. i dont know how many of you guys have played triangle strategy but me personally it changed my life. not gonna say too much because i dont wanna spoil it, but shes such a great female lead. shes basically fighting for the liberation of her people, the roselle, who the society of the game has basically condemned for no reason so if you go through her arc, you see how she deals with the pressure of having to free them, how hard it hurts to witness them in the state that theyre in, and the sacrifices she has to make to get what she wants and GOD. its so good. shes so good. also she cant fucking cook. me too girl.
3. What’s a female character you look up to?
ema skye ace attorney, specifically in aa4-6. ive never seen a character that made me go ‘GOD shes just like me fr’ like her (and apollo justice. but this isnt about him). i feel like it’s rare to see main characters like her really love something, and then FAIL pathetically at it. over and over. not that i enjoy seeing her not getting her forensic license, but it just feels so real. sometimes you love something and you’re so passionate about it but you just dont get it. and how does she react? is she still the bubbly ema you see in rfta with a “we’ll get em next time!” attitude? no!! no she’s not, she’s bitter, grumpy, snarky, dealing with the most annoying prosecutor of all time, and she’s so fucking real. be frustrated! be angry! life hands you shit cards you can be mad about how you have to play it! it’s nice seeing characters who pick themselves back up so easily, but most people arent like that and im certainly not, and seeing a character who’s just so honest about that is really refreshing. of course, she finally gets her dream in aa6, but that doesnt come without years and years of trying. in a universe where people are becoming lawyers at 18, it’s nice to see someone realistic. (im also trying to step foot into the forensic field eventually sooo… the fact that shes on the same path as me just kinda makes it hit harder, you know?)
5. A female villain you love?
pissing off both sides of the argument by calling her a villain and saying i love her but edelgard von hresvelg. before anyone says anything my favorite lord is yuri leclerc and the rest of them are equal in my heart <3 but edelgard clearly takes on more of a villain role in every route except her own, and even then she’s not entirely morally correct (duh). but i dont know. i wont say too much on your ask faye cuz i know you havent finished the other routes yet, but even when i played azure moon i couldnt bring myself to dislike her. her past with dimitri, the way she kept the dagger, and everything she reveals to you on her own path and how her past shaped her into who she is and what she wants and how she will stop at nothing to get it. i dont agree with the ends justifying the means, but i love characters who believe in that because it’s just so interesting. you want this thing so bad, nothing will stop you? your friends, your family, knowing you’re doing wrong because you think it’ll turn out right? what if it goes wrong. what if it blows up in your face? what if history remembers you as the villain forever? you’re already too deep in it i guess, so just keep going. shes so… ggrarghj. edelgard 🥹
6. A female character who got done dirty by the narrative?
athena cykes ace attorney. you’re telling me the entirety of aa5 is revolves around HER story, HER past, HER relationships, and it’s called “Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies”? the dual, by the way, refers to apollo. and you dont even play as athena during the climax of the game, you play as phoenix and shes just WATCHING. will they redeem her in aa6? you mean “Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice?” you mean the game where she gets ONE case on her own and it’s a FILLER CASE? admittedly a pretty good filler case but still. god. what the hell. i get phoenix sells but if you’re make new lawyers to take on his legacy, maybe? let them do that???
15. Female character you would defend with your life?
as usual there are so many to pick from. but i think this time i’m gonna pick nyx fire emblem. now, dont get me wrong. i will not defend her design. fates’ female dark mage design is pretty bad, especially since its used on ophelia and nyx. as much as i sincerely dont think nyx looks like a child as opposed to just a pretty short young woman, it’s…. blerghh. but aside from that? i cant STAND when people say shes just generic loli bait that acts like a child. because where? WHERE? point to where in her supports she acts like a child seriously. i know in her supports with charlotte she attempts to try it, but the point is that its unnatural and uncomfortable for her to do so. she is just. not like that. she doesnt try to play around like nowi or myrrh. shes not a child in dragon years or anything. shes just an older woman stuck in the body of a younger one, and if you would just READ one support, literally any of them, you would know that. but fates haters dont read, do they? clearly not. and its just a huge disservice to the rest of her character, which i think is incredibly beautifully written. shes such a standout in fates and i cant stand people ignoring that because “waaah nowi clone!” fuck you.

fic masterlist (Nov. 6, 2022)
A collection of links and descriptions for my Ace Attorney fanfics are found below--though you could always just visit my AO3 profile and browse them that way!
stop the presses scoop of the century (read all about it) | event of the decade (extra, extra!)
Apollo Justice writes tabloid articles to help pay his law school tuition. Thanks to the wild world of Internet virality, this leads to him starting a relationship with Klavier Gavin, famed rockstar prosecutor
smile for the camera (and keep your fingers crossed)
After a photo of Klavier and Apollo sharing dinner winds up as front-page news, the whole world obviously assumes they're dating. Correcting them seems like it wouldn't be a big deal, except that for the first time since the breakup of the Gavinners, people are paying attention to Klavier's music, and Apollo feels like he's gotta at least do something nice for the guy after he kind of indirectly ruined his life, right? Anyway, it's not like he's going to do anything as cliché as falling for him for real.
thank you for the music (for giving it to me)
Apollo's the first to admit that he's not a Gavinners fan. So why did he agree to accompany Klavier to the premiere of Broadway's latest musical, a play whose plot is based entirely around the band's discography? As the performance unfolds, however, both Klavier and Apollo come to realize that the writers have borrowed more than just Klavier's songs--they've based the story on aspects of the lawyers' real lives, too. Except--hang on, did the two protagonists just kiss?
fame vs infamy (the price of writing fanfic out of spite)
In which Apollo Justice becomes the most popular fic-writer in the Gavinners fandom. (and, along the way, realizes his Big Gay Crush on Klavier Gavin might not be as hopeless as he thought)
perspective
Klavier Gavin, through the years. (an introspective look at the man behind the rockstar façade)
keeping all your hopes alive
After their chance to prove themselves as competent detectives with a big break in an important case goes south, Kay finds her partner Ema drowning her sorrows in their shared office. They have a heart-to-heart--which ends with Ema crashing on Kay's couch (and the acknowledgement of some inconvenient shared feelings between them).
undeniable you (the currents pulling me onward)
Kristoph Gavin is found dead in his prison cell, and Klavier Gavin is the prime suspect. With nobody else available to defend him, Apollo Justice flies in from Khura'in to take the case--but during the course of the trial and its aftermath, long-hidden secrets come to light.
love at first sight (and other common misconceptions)
Klavier's always been certain that when he runs into the person he's going to fall in love with, he'll just know. Apollo believes the exact opposite--that you can't fall in love with someone without getting to know them first. After a bit of convincing, Klavier's starting to see Apollo's point.
let's get old and boring
five times Klavier considers proposing to Apollo, and the one time Apollo gets tired of waiting
Klavier and Apollo Get Scurvy
Klavier and Apollo make a bet to see who can spend the least money in a month on daily essentials. Too bad that in their pursuit of victory, neither one of them remember that fruits and vegetables are kind of important.
Musically Inclined
Sometimes, you've just gotta sing showtunes at the top of your lungs when nobody's around, you know? (Otherwise known as: 5 times Apollo walked in on Klavier singing songs from musicals, and 1 time the opposite scenario happened)
dubiously legal date ideas
Kay Faraday wants to brag about the cool date she and Ema went on--unfortunately, Klavier Gavin doesn't see the romance in breaking and entering.
funeral march
In the aftermath of Lana Skye's trial and the toppling of Damon Gant, Phoenix goes to look for Miles. Their ensuing conversation is perhaps more revealing than he realizes at the time.
shameful
Apollo's just trying to investigate the month's latest crime scene--it's not his fault Klavier keeps being strangely helpful for a rival prosecutor, not to mention distractingly attractive. Ema Skye, however, just wants to be able to present her newly-discovered decisive evidence without having to deal with copious amounts of flirting.
flying cars, smuggling rings, and other futuristic things
Ema's trying to deal with the paperwork from her most recent case--however, Kay's more interested in her thoughts about what the future's going to look like.
morning revelations (to sleep beside you from now on)
It’s not until he sees Klavier beside him, golden hair strewn over the pillow like some sort of Renaissance heroine, that Apollo Justice realizes he’s in love. Apollo wakes up next to Klavier and has to come to terms with his feelings for the prosecutor.
lyrical clarity (knocking some sense into you)
Apollo doesn't pay attention to who's part of his favorite bands--he just appreciates the music as-is. Of course, this means that he's entirely caught off-guard when it turns out that the lead singer of his favorite group is none other than Klavier Gavin. Naturally, he goes to confront Klavier, only to find that there's still more truths to uncover--and a lot that they've still got to talk about.
lonely luxury
After Kristoph's execution, Klavier finds himself alone with his thoughts--until Apollo shows up to remind him he's got people he can rely on for emotional support.
wednesday, 1:22 pm
Ema and Kay take a moment out of their busy schedules to catch up for coffee. (advocating for prosecutors getting bullied is definitely typical date conversation, what do you mean?)
still living (celebrate this new beginning)
Immediately following the untangling of the truth behind DL-6, Miles Edgeworth seeks solace alone in an empty courtroom. However, Phoenix Wright is nothing but a persistent friend.
grave misunderstandings
Apollo Justice has been alive for three hundred and sixteen years, but in all that time, he has never met anyone quite like Klavier Gavin. ...okay, perhaps alive isn’t quite the correct term to use here. Apollo has only been alive for twenty-three of the years he has existed; for the remaining two hundred and ninety-three, it’s more accurate to say he’s been undead. Or: Apollo thinks Klavier's human. Klavier thinks Apollo's human. They're both wrong.
the best-laid plans
Klavier Gavin has planned the perfect proposal--dramatic enough to fulfill his love of Grand Romantic Gestures, yet simple enough to meet Apollo's more straightforward nature. All he has to do is not mess up the decorations! Apollo Justice just wants to know how his boyfriend ended up tangled in several meters of blue fabric.
sweet distractions (M-rated)
Klavier and Apollo grab some frozen treats one summer afternoon in People Park. Unfortunately for Apollo, watching Klavier eat his ice pop is pretty distracting, and doesn't seem to be doing anything to help with the heat.
in effigy (E-rated)
Apollo discovers some scandalous Gavinners merchandise in Klavier's closet. Klavier, having no shame, decides that this is an excellent opportunity to have some fun with it. or, The One With The Official Gavinners Dildos
demo tracks and instrumentals
Klavier, Apollo, and the multitudes of ways in which they find themselves drawn to each other (a collection of drabbles written in response to tumblr prompts and asks)

I would like to request Apollo and Athena from Ace Attorney getting into a tickle fight, please. Playfulness between them is very much encouraged! :)
A/N: Playfulness you say? Luckily for you, playfulness is my middle name (Lol). My Ace Attorney babies! Oh, how I’ve missed them! I’ve had this concept in my notes for a bit and I thought, what better characters to use a theater related concept than with the “theatrical” lawyers of Apollo and Athena! So, I hope you enjoy and thank you for your patience!
Improv Activity
Tumblr media
Series: Ace Attorney
Characters: Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes
Word count: 1,352
Summary: When Athena and Apollo are working together in an improvisation activity, an unexpected, yet playful, turn occurs in the scene. Enjoy!
“Remind me again why we’re doing this?” Apollo asks with crossed arms. He watches Athena carry a fold out chair towards the middle of the Wright Anything Agency Office's living room.
Athena places the chair down. She wears casual attire of a yellow t-shirt and sweatpants during their off time. “Improvisation, also known as improv, is a crucial skill in theater if something doesn’t go as planned.”
“But we’re not doing theater, we’re attorneys that go into court.” Like Athena, Apollo also wears comfy clothes of a red t-shirt and sweatpants.
“Exactly. And even in court, things might not go our way, so we have to be able to think on our feet to get our case back on track, hence the improv exercises.” Athena points to the seat. “Now sit in the chair.”
“Do I have to?”
“Yes, it’s part of the activity.” Athena grabs him by the shoulders and moves him towards the chair. “Now sit,” Athena shoves him down into the plastic seat.
“Fine…” Apollo grumbles with his arms still crossed.
“Now, this exercise is actually a team building one. Put your hands behind your back and I’ll be behind you with my own arms sticking out to replace yours, so you’ll be speaking while I do hand gestures that would match what you’re saying. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah, I got it.” Apollo repositions his arms to rest at the back of the chair.
“Good.” Athena then kneels down behind him and sticks her arms under his, creating the silly illusion of Apollo’s body connected to Athena’s hands. She peeks out from behind his shoulder. “For the first scene, act as if you were an elementary school teacher. Aaaaand go!”
Apollo rolls his eyes, but he eventually goes along with the game. “Hello everyone, welcome to class,”  the lawyer in red says with a tone lacking enthusiasm. “Today, we’re going to do something fun…”
Athena huffs. She peeks her head out from around his shoulder again.  “It doesn’t sound very fun when you say it like that.”
“I’m just doing what you told me too,” Apollo back sasses her. “So now class…” Apollo returns to his halfhearted monologue. Athena growls under her breath as she moves her hands to his words. Her robotic necklace, named Widget, contorts its digital face and glows red with anger.
Clearly, Apollo isn’t taking the improv activity seriously. Perhaps Athena needs to give him a little push in the right direction so he can become more engaged in the activity.
Unaware of what Athena has in mind, Apollo keeps on acting as if he was talking to a class. “We’re going to have a lot of laughs today. Ha ha—HA! Hehehey!” Apollo suddenly yelps when Athena uses the hands she’s supposed to be lecturing the “class” with to instead tickle Apollo from behind. He wriggles in the seat with loud giggles exploding from his chest and tugs his arms out from behind the chair to use them as a defense mechanism against Athena’s attack. The female lawyer stands for leverage with her hands still scribbling at her friend’s sides, keeping Apollo glued to the chair.
“See how fun this can be, class?” Athena says to her imaginary audience while also teasing Apollo in the process.
“Whahahahat pahahart of the clahahahass is thihihihis?!” Apollo giggles while trying to twist his way out of the chair. With a forceful tug, he loses his balance and topples onto the ground. While Apollo rolls over to his back, Athena runs from behind the chair and pounces to her knees by Apollo’s sides. She dives her fingers back into action, making Apollo jump when her fingers plunge into his belly.
“Athenahahaha! Nohohoho!” the lawyer squirms and swings his arms to try and push Athena away through his bubbly laughter.
Athena smirks as she scribbles her fingers around Apollo’s tummy. “First rule of improv, Apollo! Never say no and always go with whatever happens!”
“Ohoho yeheheah? Thehehen go alohohohong with thihihihis!” Apollo launches his hands forward into Athena’s ribs. She shrieks like a little bird and immediately wraps her arms around herself as she bursts into giggles of her own. She twists her torso in an attempt to shield herself from the tickles, allowing Apollo to sit up and turn the tables on her as he now scribbles into her ribs from behind. Around her neck, Widget changes from its neutral blue to glowing green with happiness.
“Scene change!” Apollo grins over Athena’s shoulder. “There’s now a monster loose in the forest and it feasts on laughter!” the lawyer in red turns his fingers into wiggling claws and squeezes down to her sides. Athena shrieks again and tries to squirm her way out of his grasp. Her orange side ponytail whips around alongside her as she shakes her head with mirth.
“Hahaha! I've been cahahahaptured by the mohohohohonster!” Athena plays along. “Buhuhuhut I wohohon't go dohohown withohohout a fihihihhight!”
Athena wriggles in Apollo’s hold, eventually finding leeway to nudge him backwards with her elbow. Quick to react, Athena spins around and lunges at Apollo’s ribs, causing the male lawyer to let out a roar of laughter. Apollo squirms in his spot like a fish on a hook to avoid her counter attack, until he flops onto his side, then flat on his stomach.
In his attempts to crawl away, Athena swiftly takes advantage of the situation and catches his ankles in a headlock. Sitting on on the ground by his hips, Athena uses one hand to scratch at the sole of his socked feet. Apollo yelps and claws at the ground with another giggly eruption.
“Scene change!” Athena teases as she tightens her hold on Apollo’s feet. “It’s the last round of a wrestling match and it looks like the yellow corner has taken down the champ!”
“Dohohohon’t cohohount the red cohohohorner out juhuhuhust yehehehet!” Apollo exclaims. He twists his middle like a knotted spring and playfully yanks the back of Athena’s shirt. Athena lets out a lighthearted scream as she’s tugged to the ground and releases Apollo’s ankles. Rapidly chaining the tides, Apollo leaps up and dives his fingers towards Athena’s ticklish middle.
“Nowhere to run now, supervillain!” Apollo switches the scene again, now to a superhero scenario. “I’ve found your weakness!” Apollo aims right for her belly. Athena squeals and instantly tries to shove Apollo’s hands from her tummy. She squirms, kicks, and her laughter increases tenfold. Apollo smirks from above her as a sly superhero. “Now, do you surrender, supervillain?
“I gihihihive!!! I gihihihive!” Athena manages to screech through her laughter.
“So, do we have a truce?” the lawyer in red teases his friend one more time.
“Yehehes! Yehehes! Nohohow gehehet ohohohoff!” Athena uses some of her remaining strength to reach up and tickle Apollo’s underarms. Apollo reels back with a squeak and immediately pulls his hands away from her.
“Ah! Okay! Okay! I’ll stohohop!” Apollo squeezes his arms to his sides, then plops on his tailbone. Athena lays flat on the ground, and both lawyers release any remaining giggles into the air. Both of them place their hands on their rising and falling stomachs.
After their small breather, Apollo leans back on his arms. “Is this what usually happens in these improv lessons?” the lawyer in red asks while any leftover ghost tickles leave his skin.
Athena chuckles and also sits herself up on her arms. “Well, how the activity is supposed to turn out is never planned in improv. But the fun and team bonding aspect of it? Yes, absolutely!”
The female lawyer stands up on her feet. “Come on, Apollo! Let’s go to our next activity! And don’t worry, it'll be different this time.” She pauses to smile at him. “Unless of course, the scene calls for it.”
Apollo performs a lighthearted eye roll. “Alright, I’m coming.”
Athena helps him off the ground and the two prepare for their next improv lesson. It may be difficult to see the purpose in something like improv at first, but Athena and Apollo were able to find the use, and the joy, in the entertaining activity.

AU where trucy maya ema and kay are the same age (15-17) at the same time and they're best friends and hang out and go to the mall and have sleepovers like normal teenage girls. and they dont see dead bodies and dont get accused of murder and aren't witnesses and dont have to help their lawyer friends/family do their job.
susato exists at the same time as athena and apollo in 2027 and she's in law school to become a lawyer, not a judicial assistant, but she's still a student so for now she teams up with pollo and thena and help them with their cases but she also often hangs out with the girls her age on the weekends and days off
susato ends up becoming good friends with franziska, who is also a law student because no one should be a lawyer at 17. susato convinces franz to go out with her friends one day and this is how she and maya meet.
that day maya goes over to phoenix's house for dinner and miles is there as well because they don't live together but do spend a lot of time in each other's house. she starts describing this girl susato introduced to them and how cool and awesome and smart she is and miles chokes on his tea when maya says "and she has really cool light blue hair and her name is different and foreign" as he connects the dots
susato franz and athena meet up every so often to go over cases theyre is studying that athena worked on so they get firsthand insight. they bake cookies and make tea and stay up late and maya sometimes joins them for the food but doesn't bother listening to any of law stuff because she's not interested. she sneaks a few cookies to the living room where miles is, so they can start another very important debate and analysis of the newest neo olde tokyo cinematic universe show
their pasts are in the past. the tragedies and sorrow are over. they're just living their lives now, growing and thriving. they're just having fun and working towards their goals. and they have each other and life is good. is that too much to ask for

Apollo Justice Character Analysis!
Tumblr media
Rambling about Apollo again because I love him
Honestly his character growth is so good even if lot of it is just be me overthinking it 😅
But anyway love that even if they hadn't planned out his story in full in AA4 we still see it shown in others games(especially AA6)
In aa4 we see him loose trust in his mentor why also having conflicted feelings with Phoenix. He had no one to really turn to though so he kinda just went with it why still keeping Phoenix at arms length.
However, he immediately bonds with Trucy to the point after only know her a day is generally upset when he thinks she's been taken. Their bond is what carries him throughout the cases.
We also see that he is generally worried for her reaction about her father have been killed. It means a lot more after AA6 because he knows what that's like. They mirror eachother so well. Trucy loosing her mother to unknown whereabouts, then her father disappearing only to be immediately taken in by a falsely disgraced lawyer who had a faint connection to what happened to her father.
Compared to Apollo who lost his father and mother's whereabouts unknown. Only taken in by a falsely disgraced lawyer loosely connected to what happened to his father.
The difference between them however is Trucy was never truly abandoned by Phoenix. Their father's in their life are reversed in personality. Dhurke is like a more sympathetic Zak. He cared more for his family but he still made choices without thinking about the effects it have on his kin.
(Even some spite animation are similar)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jove I think it's more comparable to Phoenix as a father. Greatly loving his son but still having to bring him around work because both work hard to make ends meet for him. Even with his neck on the line his first and final thought is to protect his son. Comparable to Phoenix trying to make sure he didn't leave Trucy alone again when in trial for murder. Yet it still was enough to get him to make sure the past could finally be buried.
I love Apollo and Trucy so much btw, I love for sibling dynamics.
Apollo also being heavily reminded of his old mentor when first seeing Klavier yet see past that is Also so good, him seeing Klavier as his own person probably something Klavier rarely felt in court. He saw him as he was and that becomes something that defines his character I think.
AA5, why a bit iffy, had some good moments though it could've been much greater.
I think having Apollo having connection to the case was a lot, and I think it would been much more interesting if maybe he was struggling because of his power was being too much.
They kinda had it with him not wanting to use it so he covered an eye. But think it could've been more interesting if he was having he own form of sensory overload that caused him to struggle trusting Athena in the last case
Maybe Clay still had died recently but it was due to an illness not murder, that being the reason his power became overwhelming due to high emotions.
Despite that I loved the scene where he's on the stand. His uncertainty, begging for Phoenix to just prove his doubts wrong, how some of his sprites imitate Kristoph's in aa4.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's grown closer to Phoenix since AA4,but his past makes it hard to get closer and he's scared. Yet it was Phoenix who helped him see Kristoph for who he was so maybe he could do it again.
Tumblr media
"Evidence is everything in court" line hits because he is both shooting back at Athena but also repeating Kristoph as well. And perhaps reason he's struggling so hard is because he doesn't want to deal with another Kristoph, but everything else is pointing to it. It's such an important part to his growth that he pushes past his history of hurt and learn to trust again. And that's what this game does for Apollo.
Helps him trust again.
Also Trucy should've been in it more but that one scene of her watching Apollo leave the office 100% believe she was using her abilities as well too try read him I just- she was so worried about him 😭 hc she and Klavier kept watch on him when he ended up on the hospital those times.
AA6. Going into talking about this game brings me back to one line from Apollo in AA4.
"But Someday I'll know what law is. And I'll fight to change it if I have to. "
And that's exactly what he does here, even if it's in another country. He works to make sure it's all an even play field.
This game brings a lot to Apollo's character in Backstory. But it tells us one the big things about Apollo is that he never really was allowed to settle down with family.
From Jove's death, to Dhurke sending him off, to Kristoph's reveal, to Clay's death, Dhurke's return to death and finally staying to help fix Khura'in's system.
He never got to for once just stay in one place for longer then a few years.
Apollo is at his core someone who never got to keep a constant in his life. He's not use to it and I think it's what also contribute to his problems trusting others. The world tells him time and time again that nothing will stay. That he'll always be moving. Yet he has found that WAA is one constant that might not go away. He swears he'll return and he most likely will. For once when he does he'll have something he can't loose. Even why he works overseas they're there for him. He has a family In both Japailfornia and Khura'in. He has a photo of his father, some recollection of who he is and who he wants to be.
And he really only has one part of himself unanswered. Yet how many more questions will it open up?
AA7+, we don't really know if and when AA7 might come out. But based off ending of AA6 Apollo and Trucy are likely gonna find out the truth about their mother.
And I really hope we see that moment or at least the aftermath. Because that will be the true test to how far Apollo has come as a person and character. How he handles finding out his mother is alive and well but also that Trucy is his kin will test how far he has come in the last 3 games.
Especially if they learned that Phoenix knew the whole time.
I do hope we get more Athena focus in AA7, but having that set in the background certainly could be interesting especially if we see it all through Athena's eyes. I think she looks up to Apollo as a big brother in a way. He's older and first one she worked with on her first official case. They also both have natural abilities that Phoenix could only emphasize with so much given he gets his through an item not natural ability.
I'd love to see that shared trait be showed to give them more of a bond. Her learning to grow on her own as well and Apollo being there when she does.
Anyway thank you for reading my rambles about wierd lawyer man gdgd

So, I have a playlist of no commentary longplays to help me sleep and I've recently added Phoenix Wright DD and SoJ (since no one has the other games in a full longplay) and that got me wanting to talk about Phoenix Wright and some of my favorite things, small issues and big issues with the games.
I have played every game (that's localized) so I wanted to start this little series(?) with my disappointment with Dual Destinies.
There will be a spoiler warning for all these posts just in case someone hasn't played the game, so here's that warning.
It's no secret that everyone in the fandom pretty much hates Dual Destinies. You're either annoyed at the strange/weak plot or tired of how hand-holdy the games were.
For me, I didn't mind the game holding my hand except for that consult button because if the game had a good enough plot I can see why they would have added features/dialogue to help players.
Playing this game as a kid, there were some cases I'd be stuck on for days and I can easily see how interest would be lost if you got severely stuck in a case.
So, the hand holding wasn't too much of an issue.
My problem was Athena.
Now whether you love or hate her, I can't bring myself to like Athena because of how her plot was dismantled from her very inception.
When first playing DD, I knew Athena was gonna be a character that wouldn't be very fun to watch. Unlike Edgeworth or Apollo (before SoJ), I could tell Athena was gonna have a "one game plot" and that she would disappear right after.
However, she didn't and this is the issue with Athena.
Athena has no more plot.
The writers essentially boxed her in a corner by giving her "I need to save my friend" as her main plot. When she should have "I want to save anyone who's been wrongfully convicted."
Especially with the climate in the Justice System irl, being riddled with holes and other loopholes that get innocent people locked up and guilty people free, it would have been perfect to have Athena--and her ability--to be focused on saving people who truly are innocent but were convicted anyways. An appeals kind of game, so to say.
However, that didn't happen and instead her entire goal when she was first introduced was to save Blackquill.
Now, don't get me wrong, Blackquill is one of my favorite characters, but it's simply because I like his design and personality. As a writer, his inclusion isn't my favorite thing ever.
He's a plot device for Athena and once he was "solved" what happened to Athena? She lost her plot.
SoJ pretty much proved that with what is arguably the worst case in PW history.
Turnabout Storyteller was a long haul to get through. Not only did it feel like a game of unwinnable tennis, but it also felt like I was going through a tutorial for the second time. This case also is a perfect exemplification of why Athena is now ruined.
She has no room to grow. No hardships attached to the courtroom and not even a difficult case to work with. When Athena's "Blackquill" plot was solved in DD she has nothing else to carry her and winds up becoming an aimless character.
She's just there to replace Apollo or Phoenix.
Unfortunately, I actually hate that she is this way because it would have been really cool to see a character who can actually tell if people are being truthful or not and we could have circled back to Kristoph Gavin and found out what he was hiding and why.
Instead, we get Athena's black Psyche locks and that fell flat on its face.
I wanna rundown why that didn't hit as well as it should:
We just met Athena and have no record of her history. Even if she tells us, it's just that-- something we heard. Even with the tragedy of her mother, we didn't find anything out about that until several cases later when it's impact isn't gonna hit as hard.
Why the death of her mother isn't as impactful as it should be lies with the game itself. A bombing in a courthouse happens, the leader of a village is murdered, the death of a lawyer takes place, and someone is on death roe. There are just way bigger things going on.
Yes, the death of a parent is severely heartbreaking, but that's the only reason we feel for it in the game because it is traumatic to lose a parent.
To explain what I mean, it's similar to stories you hear on the internet of people who have suffered the loss of a loved one or family member. Yes, we're upset and our heart goes out to them, but once we get off our phone the impact of that event no longer concerns us. This is why writers need to know how to impact a reader/viewer (or in this case a player) so we feel the same gut wrenching feeling the character is feeling. We shouldn't chalk it up to "oh, that's really bad, so I understand why she's sad."
If it were me, I would have liked to see Athena with a "trilogy" of her own since Apollo is kind of beyond saving at this point.
For Athena, she should have had Turnabout Storyteller as her first case. Without Blackquill, of course, and gone through a case where someone is frozen with fear seeing the death of someone they considered a parental figure. Then, through all the Turnabout Big Top's she would end up with a firm disposition. "I have to save the lives of those who are crying out their innocence." Then, in her second (or in my opinion) the third game, we're introduced to Blackquill and their relationship. The friendship they had and the end it's about to meet. If we got even a little bit of characterization from her, it would have made saving Blackquill all the more satisfying. Athena could have easily carried three games with her ability and her background, but instead it was boiled down to one game and forgotten in the next.
Phoenix Wright games always have very interesting characters and I find myself thinking about them a lot, so this was just one, but I'm sure you'll find me talking about someone else sonner rather than later...
~Thanks for reading~

Please tell me more of what you think of Phoenix and Sara this is interesting.
I am pretty into the gay lawyer game at the moment this is feeding my hunger
FINALLY THIS IS THE MOMENT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!

listen, i think the potential relationship between sara and phoenix would be so funny. an older phoenix with his own kid and law firm sees this young girl, around the same age as maya was when he met her, and immediately he's like. shit, i need to adopt this girl right away. what he fails to take into account is that sara acts NOTHING like maya. he assumes sara's gonna be his weirdgirl assistant like maya was to him but instead HE becomes sara's weirdgirl assistant. she is all over the place, she knows exactly what she's doing, phoenix is impressed, he's like damn okay, this girl knows her stuff...
i also like to imagine that sara wanted to become a lawyer, and that just works perfectly, the idea that one day phoenix sees this rookie lawyer at a crime scene, gets lead around by her, and immediately is like yeah this girl needs to join my law firm RN!!
sara at the WAA is just. god. her and athena get along like a house on fire, same with her and apollo, maybe even moreso, she also definitely brings kanna and gin over to hang out with trucy, they absolutely adore letting her practice magic tricks on them, gin especially is like WOAH !!!!
through all this i can imagine reko and klavier meeting one day and i just feel like they'd either hate each other or love eachg other. i imagine it would be like. reko doesn't like him, she's like this guys pretentious, just noit a fan. and klaviers like trying so ahrd to be her friend he thinks she's so cool.
keiji and phoenix absolutely have like. this unspoken rivalry over who sara likes the most/ who she sees as more of a father figure.
please lmk if you want to talk more about aa and yttd i love them both sm
