I definitely acquired another bug from the funeral this week. I don't love that I'm coughing again, but I'll deal. I just wish I'd gotten to have a few days of a normal energy level before I got flattened again. I won't feel guilty about doing fuck-all this week, at least. I'm going to sleep until the evil flees my meat suit.

I'm sure other people are not thrilled with the snowsqualls today, but it's about damn time we had some decent snow. Mid-week was icy and slushy and gross, so I'll take cold fluffy stuff over that. The temperatures are finally properly cold, as well, so it's a great day to have nowhere to go.

I do not have any great span of attention, so I'm letting the day take whatever shape it wants. So far it's listening to some good music and noodling around with some watercolours, but I am also seeing a nap in my future.

haven't drawn anything in 3 months now but I'm hoping that I can pick up my scenic drawings again. Here's an old progress gif from my Snowsquall piece: here if you haven't seen it

A lot of people commented about the lighting and colors on the original post so I wanted to take a moment to plug this tiny youtube channel I've been using improve my illustrations: Light Ponderings. Specific video recommendations below the cut but honestly I recommend looking at all his stuff.

His style of video making is part "here's some fun informative facts about light" and then part "let me draw this in real time while I narrate to really explain what the technical part meant" which I find so helpful.

A couple videos I recommend and used in this piece:

^ Light is not about a lighter or darker scale. Shadows and highlights change both the hue and the saturation of the color they affect, they don't just get darker.

^ This one literally blew my mind. I've almost stopped color picking now because I'm getting really good at picking out my own colors to make a cohesive image that doesn't feel like it's got too many different colors going on.

^ This one was incredible for my work because at some point in the past decade I stopped using references because it's "copying" (it's not). Great strategies on how to properly observe and use images you are inspired by.

Hopefully this helps anyone else out there who enjoys lighting as much as I do!

Snowsquall, A icewing bard traveling Pyrrhia to share icewing stories and songs. Though his shawl was bought while he was staying in the sandwing stronghold. (and along with the tail bands, it was a gift from a skywing lover)

Little baby puffin!! A sky/Ice hybrid and Snowsqualls only daughter. Now exploring the world with her father, she dosent actually know her Skywing mother. I still have no plan on what happened with the skywing or why they had to leave.

Decided to do a set of banners and dividers based on the lair location banner images that would match in style my sets of Coliseum Dividers and Scene Dividers. As new lair location banners get added to Flight Rising, they’ll get added to this set of photosets.

When linking from these images, make sure you’ve clicked on an image in the photoset and are doing your right click -> copy image link from the full size (640 pixel width) images, not from the downsized dashboard images. You may also need to edit the extension from .pnj to .png for linked images to appear correctly.
