The Tails Squad find out that they can bring back "Souvenirs" from the games they went to (Basically anything they can hold onto/fit into a bag/some form of storage before going back to their world)
They immediately go to loot games like RaC, several RPG's, and Minecraft
And to think it all started when Sails forgot he was holding some random sword from an open world game they went to.
JFJDJEHCJGJFI YESSS!
The Squad would be bringing overpowered artifacts and weapons when they battle someone. Bringing guns to a fist fight.
____________
When they grounded from tech and get bored, they start LARPing with actual magic infused stuff. One of their friends asks to join and gets shocked to the core when those things work and now one of them has a chicken head (yes I'm stealing from TMNT SHHHH!)
____________
Sonic sees a very familiar weapon and promptly freezes.
"Tails, Tails, where did you find Excalibur? TAILS?!"
_____________
*IDW Tails and Modern playing some futuristic action games on console or something*
"Such a cool gadget."
"I wish I had it."
"Same."
"..."
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
The two foxes grin at each other. 15 minutes later, the so called gadget is missing and npcs are freaking out
_____________
"Is that the golden apple?"
"No."
"Tails."
"I have no idea what you're talking about." *Crunch*
_____________
Ali and the Forty Thieves
Aka SatSR Tails and his counterparts pilaging videogames for cool artifacts. They have a secret storage 'cave' for the treasure under their collective hangout lab
____________
Like mysterious cottages in the woods where you can get magic stuff or whatever, the Squad now has potions. From Minecraft. They craft it and then take it. Menaces. Absolute menaces.
Tails totally did not spike Sonic's chilidogs once with the slowness potion to win a race against him nuh uh no sir.
_____________
Random videogame protag: "Wait- where did my staff go?!"
Meanwhile, evil cackles and magic explosions occur 3 dimensions away.
______________
Oh hey look, freshly cooked lovely delicious meals and snacks from those cooking games.
_____________
Something happens in Modern's world and they need a very particular vehicle very quick, no time to build it, need it NOW quick. All the friends freaking out over this and Tails goes, "Don't worry I got this"
He fiddles with Miles Electric and within 5 minutes, a hanger that had stood empty an hour ago opens to reveal the exact vehicle they needed, Boom giving them a casual wave as he drives it.
He stole it from GTA
____________
Every object in games that can be grabbed or picked up by the player, can be brought back with them.
Now some crucial clues and keys from those point and click mystery games are missing so nobody could break their high score
_____________
Not Nine and Tails pulling a heist on Octavius and Spidey to steal the Iron Spider-Man suit and those tentacles for Halloween costumes
______________
GUN's systems go haywire with warning of unknown unlicensed unverified spacecrafts and rockets and shuttles and satellites appearing out of nowhere all of a sudden and the entire HQ freaking out when two get launched while giving off separate and opposite but very similar mirror like tragectories.
Team Dark goes to investigate and finds that Classic and OVA got carried away playing Space Flight Simulator
__________
There are so many fun things that can be done with this idea. Gamers, take it away!

SaTBK PROMPT WEEK || MASTERPOST
WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!
I have a newfound respect for those who can do prompt (segment of time)s often. This is REALLY time consuming, but I’m really happy with what I managed to do for the week! Thank you @satbkpromptweek for setting this event up, it was hard work but I had a fun time sitting back and focusing on this au for the time!
Since I am so far in with telling the story for my SaTBK au with this series, I do think it’s only pertinent to continue this series, however, they may be more spaced out between other things (Especially since I still need to work on my Sonic Forces illustration series). A lot of this week happened to coincide real nice with Ferris’s storyline so I think I wanna start fleshing out the other storylines within this universe not gonna lie tho making “Infinite should adopt Metal Sonic” propaganda is SO very tempting. While the event may be over, you can still feel free to hit me up about this au!
Each image is captioned with which day it was done and the prompt they were informed by, but if you want the artist commentary or lore that came with the above images maybe you should take a peek at their individual posts below

Fate Smate
A SatBK Sonic and Gawain talking and hanging out oneshot!
Summary: Sonic and Gawain take a little break in researching how to get Sonic home to have a little adventure: seeing what new trouble Lancelot has gotten into. Along the way, they have a little chat on Merlin and destiny, and Sonic learns that Gawain and Lancelot are fully aware of their impending 'rift.'
Contains: Gawain and Lancelot are besties! Gawain talks about destiny and fate a lot and is super unimpressed with the idea he and Lancelot are gonna be mortal enemies and Lancelot is supposed to kill him! Gawain is super pushy, literally and figuratively- big brother syndrome lmao! Shadow is up to weird inscrutable antics as usual! Gawain isn’t very fond of Merlin and isn’t very nice about his descriptions of him!
Rating: G
Word count: 2,424
Note:  This is supposed to be part 1 of a stand alone story, but I repurposed it to fit the Destiny prompt. Might go in an make a part 2, might go back to the original one and polish it up, idk! For now, enjoy Gawain and Sonic hanging out! C:
Sonic has never been fond of paperwork or research. He’s very much a hedgehog of action, tearing through obstacles at mach speed and figuring everything out as he goes along. And when he literally and figuratively comes up against a challenge he can’t power through, he calls up Tails. His little buddy loves research, is good at thinking through problems, and able to adapt and tinker his solutions to any and every situation. It’s what makes them such a good team. Unfortunately, Tails wasn’t invited to this little trip to Camelot. Sonic’s been handling everything pretty well so far, but figuring out the right magic and locations for his return trip is turning out to be a little tricky. And, as he looks at the piles of scrolls, papers, and books on the round table, Sonic desperately wishes once again that Tails were here to help him. (Smithy is a skilled craftsman and smart in his own right, but apparently being a blacksmith doesn’t require reading! How is it possible there’s a guy that looks so much like Tails but is illiterate?! If he’s going to be here for much longer, then Sonic’s gonna put teaching Smithy to read on his to-do list.) At least he’s not forced to wade through all these papers alone. Sonic glances over to his left where Sir Gawain is quietly reading. It’s weird. Gawain isn’t Knuckles, but echidnas aren’t exactly common, so it’s incredibly eerie to see someone with that knucklehead’s same face and explosive temper just sit and think and research- “It is time for a break!” Gawain’s booming voice shatters the quiet of the room and breaks Sonic out of his idle thoughts. “Huh?” He blinks, startled, as the echidna snaps the book shut. Gawain doesn’t push the chair back so much as he pushes the entire table forward, standing up and stretching his arms above his head. He looks at Sonic expectantly as he exercises his shoulder, “Come.”
“Okay,” Sonic doesn’t know what Gawain is planning, but      anything    beats pouring over these boring old papers, “Where are we going?”
“On a quest!” As soon as he’s in Gawain’s radius, the echidna grabs Sonic to push him ahead. Gawain keeps one hand firmly on the hedgehog’s back, obviously very comfortable around pointy quills.
“Quest?” Sonic shrugs as he lets Gawain lead him through the corridor, not used to being the one encouraged to go faster. He has to glance backwards to make eye contact with the echidna, “Quest for what?” “Lancelot!” Gawain tells him cheerfully, “That daft man has a terrible habit of getting into the worst kind of trouble when left to his own devices. Let us make sure he is not in need of succor.” “Heh,” Sonic laughs at hearing Lancelot described like that. The dour hedgehog would undoubtedly disagree with Gawain’s assessment, and would very much resent anyone thinking he needed to be rescued. But much like Shadow, Lancelot seems to be a magnet for trouble, too.
“Sounds like you two get along well,” Sonic remarks absently as they pass through a partially re-constructed corridor.
“Indeed!” Gawain answers proudly without any bit of hesitation, thumping his fist on his chest, “Sir Lancelot is my dearest friend and closest companion!”
“…Huh, that’s cool,” Sonic says after a moment, a little surprised by how quickly and emphatically Gawain answered that question as he pulls a heavy wooden door open.
“Does that surprise you?” Gawain asks mildly, innocent enough but with an undertone of emotion Sonic can’t quite place. Definitely not positive though, “Have you heard differently?”
“Nothing, really, it’s just-“ Sonic makes a seesaw motion as they pass a grand collection of woven tapestries that seem to have survived the wreckage. Dusty and mostly still on the floor, but Sonic’s eyes linger on a tapestry of an old man with a disturbingly familiar looking mustache, “Merlina made it seem like you two weren’t super close. More rivalry than friendly to your whole friendly rivalry.”
“Bah, poppycock!” Gawain scoffs, obviously relieved as he shakes his head dismissively, “That’s simply because her grandfather filled her head with all those nonsense prophecies! Those silly tales of how our bitter feud would result in the end of the dream of Camelot!”
“Ah,” Sonic answers ambivalently, surprised at the blasé dismissal. He didn’t believe in things like prophecy and fate, but it seemed someone like Gawain, who seemed incredibly committed to intangible things like chivalry and duty, would care more. Especially if they were supposed to destroy a whole entire kingdom over a spat, “So you heard everything Merlina said when she was under the influence of the scabbard?”
“Sir Sonic, that was not new information for either myself or Lancelot!” Gawain seems genuinely amused by his attempt at gentleness, laughter booming in the stone hall. That it was broken didn’t seem to impact the acoustics too much.
“For as long as we have known them, the girl and her grandfather have never let us forget!!” The echidna sighs heavily, mouth twisting into a grimace like he just sucked on a lemon, “That mad codger ranted about destiny all the time, and what role everyone would play in the downfall of Camelot. Whether you wanted to listen to him or not!”
Gawain obviously finds this topic frustrating, ripping the stairwell door off of its hinges as his voice rises in his growing agitation, “The moment he saw me or Lancelot, he would immediately remind us of our destined ‘rift.’’”
The knight doesn’t even try to fix the door, just leaves it off to the side as he ushers Sonic through the doorway, “Merlin told ranted about my fate all the time! Long before I even met Lancelot!”
Gawain massages his forehead just under his visor, “He was driving me mad! I didn’t know a damn thing about who Lancelot was supposed to be, but when I finally found him, I was going to challenge him to a duel to the death!”
“That sounds reasonable,” Sonic answers dryly, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. Gawain obviously had a flair for the dramatics, given how he reacted to his unexpected loss to Sonic, but why did this guy go straight for the kill-or-be-killed option? Definitely some less drastic steps he could try first.
The echidna is either oblivious to Sonic’s sarcasm or choosing to ignore it, nodding as though he truly and honestly thought ‘duel to the death’ was a reasonable solution, “Aye. Either Lancelot’d kill me before ‘fate’ wanted me dead, or I’d kill him first and derail the whole damn thing.”
“Wait, what? Kill?” Sonic’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise, stopping mid-step. Gawain continues to usher him forward like a little kid, though, which is starting to get kind of annoying. He digs his heels into the stone and pushes back against the echidna’s strength, “Lancelot is supposed to kill you?!”
“Aye! My kiss of death at Lancelot’s hand will be dealt by the sword with the red hilt!” Gawain waves a hand flippantly, obviously past the point of caring and seeming overall unimpressed by the whole impending-murder prophecy.
“Actually, that was the first thing Merlin told Lancelot when he first arrived at court, too!” The knight sighs wearily, so maybe it still does bother him some, “Not even a greeting! A new arrival, determined to prove himself among the legends of chivalry and champions of justice, guided by tales of fellowship and a kind, just king-”
Sonic lets out a long breath through his nose at all the unnecessary detail and adjectives, very much not moving his feet at all now. Gawain seems to be even stronger than Knuckles is, pushing him forward like Sonic weighs nothing. It’s kind of impressive, but he’s only putting up with this treatment because he’s curious to hear how this story ends, “Only to be immediately accosted by a strange old man! A strange old man with a very big walking stick who points it at this unknown youth’s face and just starts yelling in his face, ‘You! You’re going to kill Gawain, the man you love most, with the sword of the red hilt! It’s your destiny!’”
“...Youth?” For some reason, Sonic’s attention fixes on that weird little detail, squinting at Gawain’s face over his shoulder. The echidna’s obviously an adult, but it’s not like Gawain has an incredible amount of wrinkles or gray hairs, “You’re older than Lancelot?”
“By two years!” Gawain announces proudly, and Sonic’s interest in that sidenote immediately fizzles out. The echidna was just being his usual dramatic self again and making something small seem much bigger and more important than it actually was, “Where was I?”
“Well, neither you or Lancelot seems to be dead, so I’m assuming you didn’t end up challenging him like you planned,” Sonic offers only slightly helpfully before they’re both standing at the bottom of the stairwell. He crosses his arms over his chest as he watches Gawain, in a much better mood, gently open the door without breaking it off its hinges. It still shakes and creaks like the wood is protesting- Gawain definitely isn’t as careful with his strength as Knuckles is.
“Ah, yes! The moment I heard my name mentioned, I immediately knew this was supposed to be my destined rival. I stood up to challenge this knave who hadn’t given anyone his name yet, but before I could call out to him…” The echidna grins wide at the memory, looking incredibly amused and pleased, “Lancelot told Merlin no!”
“Heh,” Sonic is much more amused by Gawain’s good mood, finding that wide smile contagious. The ceiling abruptly goes from patches with holes to clear blue sky piles on either side, which means they’re close to the epicenter of Merlina’s whole freeze-everything-to-save-everyone spell, “How’d Merlin take it?”
“Exactly as you think!” Gawain laughs heartily, eyes crinkling as his smile stretches across his muzzle, “Simply imagine it, Sir Sonic! The greatest sorcerer of our time. personally responsible for putting Uther and his son on the throne and orchestrating so many other wondrous and terrible events! Used to being respected and feared, only to have this saucy knight without a single deed or accomplishment to his name, tell him directly, ‘Give that quest to someone else, I’m not interested,’ before walking away! Lancelot gave the King’s Advisor his back without a second thought!”
Sonic shakes his head with an amused sigh, not really understanding why this is so funny, but Gawain’s chuckles are hard to resist. Shadow probably wouldn’t have given Merlin an answer, just glower at him and leave to do his own dark hedgehog-y things, like usual. Sonic grins right back at Gawain, “Hehe. Merlin sounds like an intense guy, I can understand why you didn’t like him very much.”
“I did not dislike him,” Gawain says carefully, very obviously trying to make his point as precisely as possible, “Merlin had always been a little odd, always had a habit of speaking in prophecies and riddles, but he wasn’t...”
Gawain pauses as he mulls over his words carefully, obviously searching for the right word before giving up, “He took a turn for the worse after King Arthur lost Excalibur.”
Gawain’s mood dampens to a quiet melancholy, rubbing at the back of his neck as they finally get to the courtyard entrance. Rather, the chipped walkway and pillar markings that show this was once a doorway, “Perhaps that loss was the beginning of the end.”
“Yeah?” Sonic prompts Gawain absently, hand on his hips as he looks at the little garden. It’s odd- this had been the epicenter of Merlina’s magic that had leveled half the castle, but the trees and flowers here seem absolutely fine. Not so much as a broken branch or scattering of leaves across the grass, “What makes you say that?”
“Well, shortly after that, Merlin began acting like he was on a desperate, secret quest,” Gawain goes up to the nearest tree, leaning a hand against the bark as he peers up at the branches, “Frantically looking for signs, muttering to himself that there wasn’t enough time!”
Gawain pulls back and rubs at his forehead, obviously not finding what he was looking for, before moving onto a different tree, “Merlin was then obsessively watching the flight of birds in the sky, scribing into his glass ball for hours, looking into the horizon of the lakeshore and the mouth of the river like he was searching for something...”
Gawain’s eyes slide over to Sonic with an unplaceable emotion, “Or someone?”
That catches Sonic by surprise, stopping mid-step towards the tree, “Me?”
He points to himself, looking around to make sure Gawain isn’t actually talking to Lancelot who suddenly materialized out of nowhere, or someone else, “You think he was looking for me?”
“Who can say?” Gawain answers back just as evasively, nodding towards the second tree and giving it a gentle tap that still has the entire tree shaking. There’s a loud squawk from the branches as two little birds fly out in a panic, and a much less bird-like muttered curse.
“Lancelot!” The echidna yells up at the tree branches cheerfully, as though he didn’t just try to knock Lancelot off the tree a moment ago.
Sonic squints up at the tree, and sure enough, there is a figure high up in the branches that looks very much like a hedgehog… but is hanging onto the branch in a more sloth-like way. Lancelot obviously hadn’t been in a very stable position before Gawain shook the tree, and appears to have only just managed to avoid being knocked off.
Sonic snorts at this very inelegant and uncool look for the grim hedgehog, and is momentarily sorry Caliburn isn’t here to see this. That sword of his put Lancelot up on too high a pedestal, and would benefit from seeing more of the man and less of the legend.
“Hullo, Lancelot!” Gawain calls out again, waving when the tree-bound hedgehog finally spots them, “What are you up to today?”
“Gawain!” Lancelot answers back just as cheerfully, which is honestly a little weird to hear from someone who looks so much like Shadow but nice that apparently he holds Gawain in high esteem, too, “Sonic!”
Lancelot changes his grip so he is holding onto the branch with one hand, holding out a bundle that… looks like it’s squirming? Huh? Sonic squints at the bundle as what looks like a little, stubby hand shoots out from a space in the fabric, “Impeccable timing! I could use your assistance in this matter!”

also- everyone is aged up in this au by like 5-6ish years. solely because... i like the humour of someone named little john being not so little.
and who's robin hood sonics little john? :) tails, ofc.
i want to keep him the blacksmith that he is in satbk, and he's only gotten better with time! he carries all his necessary tools with him, since robin hood and his merry men are always on the move, and he has hidden smithys built in their more frequented hideouts.
he's also... the best with daggers/throwing daggers in the entire group, and always keeps some on his person at all times. his parry is unmatched when duel weilding daggers.

So since you made mistake of letting me speak here I go !
while everyone helps with maintance ( aka doing tasks ) crew has actual jobs they perform from the ones I have ideas for
Guin is the pilot with Arthur as her second in command ( omega and caliburn are AI's that help in operating the ship )
Nimue and Lottie are the medical personel ( while bigger passanger ships have basically whole hospitals on board but if the crew is small two people are usually enough )
Arthur and Lottie were childhood friends but got seperated and reunited roughly few weeks before the voyage started ( bc A. that trope where you see someone from your past after years and you realize that the crush didn't went away B . Galahad being a little bit wary of Arthur since he's a stranger )
Also when the loop starts while not from the begining Nimue remember them and tries to somehow make sure no one dies
Sorry for making you wait so long for an answer, but yes!! Yes to all of this and also please consider:
Arthur getting to know Lancelot all over again, but now as Lottie and being happy to see her so comfortable and happy with who she is.
Arthur semi-frantically explaining that Guin is his wife but not his wife before Lottie gets the wrong idea and Guin laughing at how he stumbles over his words and keeps putting his foot in his mouth.
Arthur and Lottie trying to meet up on a few totally-not-dates to catch up. There's a lot of life that's passed and they're already a degree of comfortable around each other that means that personal stuff feels easier to talk about around each other.
Galahad trying to learn some medical stuff with his mother and grandmother but it's not really his thing. He ends up exploring the ship a lot and tending the greenhouse (perhaps with Percival?)
Guin and Lottie clicking immediately and Guin (quite literally) takes Lottie under her wing.
Arthur letting Galahad learn how to pilot the ship a little in order to try to bond with him.
Smithy (and perhaps the others) tending to the AIs.
Maybe an AI malfunction that causes all the tasks on board to appear?
Maybe a third AI (Merlina) causes the time loop as an attempt to keep the crew from dying, a bit similar to how she tried to stop any death (or progress) from happening in SatBK?
Nimue as the only one who remembers everything is evil and I love it.
This feels like Groundhog Day meets Titanic meets Alien and I might have more thoughts later on.

Sonic doesn't allow Smithy and the "Main Tails" to be in the same room unsupervised because he knows that Tails will show Smithy how to make firearms the moment his back is turned
Jokes on him, it's an inherent instinct of every Tails, Smithy already knows how to make them

Golden heart [a SATBK au fic] chapter 10 (end)
Finally here we are. The climax, and sadly, the ending to it all. This was a fun ride, and surprisingly, my first multy part fanfiction. Thank you all for tuning in to read this story, I hope you had a blast reading it. Take care, ill see you in the next post!
Chapter1 Chapter9
Chapter 10- Time Trials
The sun had long set beyond the horizon a long time ago now, leaving the sky an inky darkness that was only separated by speckles of starlight, caught amongst the tall trees that aggressively swayed and writhed from the wind that the two blue hedgehogs were creating. The elder one had trouble keeping the pace as his younger self chased after him. He wasn’t used to running this fast.
“Blue please stop!” Sonic called out. “Let’s talk about this!”
“Stay out of this, Sonic! This doesn’t concern you!” The king yelled back.
“It does when you are about to do something that you’re gonna regret!”
The king raised the sword and slashed off the thick branches of the trees along their path, trying to block the hedgehog from running further. The blade sliced through them with ease, it only took one strike before each branch fell onto the path with a heavy thud. The branches barely slowed Sonic down as he jumped, swerved and dodged each falling branch. He wasn’t going to let anything stop him.
“Sonic please! Whatever you are planning to do, it’s not worth it!” Caliburn pleaded.
“Be quiet!” Blue said through barred teeth. “I already was stick of your nagging! I don’t want to hear more!”
Tailing behind the speedy hedgehogs was the black knight Lancelot and sat atop his shoulders, the blacksmith Miles. The knight struggled to keep a steady fast pace. He was fast on his own, but the twin hedgehogs were faster, especially without something on their shoulders. It didn’t stop him from racing on despite the extra weight he was carrying.
The hedgehogs left the forest and into open fields. The ink blackness of the sky fading away as the stars shone bright as ever. It would’ve been a beautiful night any other time. Sonic called out to the king, he wanted to fix things. Things would be better if he just stopped and talked. The king wasn’t interested in talking.
Fed up, Sonic ran his fastest and stopped just a few feet away from the king. “Come on Blue! Can we just talk about-“ The king didn’t stop, he ran at top speed towards the blue hedgehog, raising caliburn out to strike. He missed, thankfully, but only by a hair. Sonic watched as Blue continued to run towards his goal. And judging where he was running to, his goal was not something good.
Sonic furrowed his brow. “Guess I have no choice!” He spun and launched himself into the back of the king, falling to the ground. The king still didn’t let go of the sword.
Blue stood himself up, using Caliburn as a crutch. His legs shook as he struggled to stand again. It’s been ages since he ran like that. He swung his leg at the second blue hedgehog but missed him by only inches. He swung his leg again, and again at Sonic, attempting to strike him somewhere, anywhere. The king was fast, and Sonic could keep up just as well.
“You are such a nuisance!” Blue cursed.
“Heh, thank you! Being a nuisance is my specialty!” Sonic ran to the king and reached for the blade.
The king held it up high and struggled to push Sonic away from him. “I told you that this doesn’t concern you!”
“And you should know that I NEVER back away from someone in need! And I know you wouldn't to!”
Blue growled. “If you won’t leave… THEN YOU WILL PERISH!” His leg slammed into Sonic's body, tossing him to the ground. He jammed the handle of Caliburn into his side, creating a loud and painful yell to come out of him. Sonic held his wounded side as the King kicked him over again.
He gripped his fist tight as he walked off, speeding up the further he got from his young double.“I don’t need your pity…”
Sonic got up onto his knees and groaned. That was the hardest he’d been hit in a long time, he forgot what it was like to have the wind kicked out of you.
“Sonic!” A young voice called out.
“Are you alright?” A deeper voice called after.
“Miles? Lancelot?” Sonic noticed. “What are you doing here?”
“Following, to make sure that the king won’t do something stupid.” Lancelot growled.
Sonic stood up and stretched his back. “Yeah, I’ve been trying to talk to him, but he’s not listening to me. And I don’t think he’s gonna listen to you either.”
The knight nodded. “I know. But-“
“Don’t worry! I’ll do whatever it takes to knock the sense back in him! I have to try!” Sonic put his hands to his hips. “I just need to figure out what he’s planning on doing before he does it…”
“… He’s going to the volcano..” Tails said.
“What?”
“There’s a volcano not far from here. It’s lava is so hot it could melt even the densest materials…. He’s going to destroy Caliburn!”
“WHAT?! THATS CRAZY!”
“That has to be it! Something happened to him back then with Caliburn, he must think that getting rid of him would fix things!”
“Well he’s not gonna do that on my watch!” Sonic spun his legs around. Revving up before dashing away. “I’ll get him to stop! No matter what!”
“Sonic! Wait!” Lancelot called out, but he was already across the horizon. Too far and too fast to hear anyone.
He was already at the base of the volcano, a gigantic hill that hid burning hot lava in its center, waiting for the right conditions to burst its fiery contents onto the forests below, destroying the foliage and the people and animals that lives in it. The magma inside of it felt all too familiar. He was the volcano. The king clenched the sword in his hand. Maybe for a moment he second guessed himself.
“Blue.” Sonic stopped a few feet away from the other hedgehog. He didn’t give him so much as even a glance. Sonic gave a deep sigh. “Come on, let’s talk about this. Just… talk…”
“What else is there to say?” The blue king stepped along the steep path.
Sonic grabbed the kings hand, preventing him from progressing further. “Please, Blue! I want to help you! But I can’t do that if you keep shutting people out!”
“Then stop trying…” the king glared at the blue hedgehog. He ripped his hand from his grasp and moved up the side of the volcano at the speed of sound. Sonic followed after.
The two hedgehogs bickered and tussled, grabbing and pushing at each other. It was only slowing the kings quest to the top. He wasn’t going to let some younger and more naïve version of him from another world stop him. He’s never going to stop. Something that he and his younger self had in common.
“Blue please!” Sonic cried out in desperation. “Do you really think that DESTROYING caliburn is going to fix things?”
“STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHO I AM!” He struck sonic in the face and sent him tumbling a quarter ways down the volcano. He was quick getting back onto his feet, and Blue was just the same getting up to the top.
He stared through the mouth of the volcano, down at the white hot bubbling lava. It was the entrance to hell. Or maybe, the final circle of it. Despite the heat emitting from the lava, the king felt ice cold. His body shook. His hands shook. He struggled to lift caliburn up, extending him over the glowing hole. His fate was coming, and if he had a body he would be breaking out into a cold sweat.
Blue stared into the swords’ eyes. His green eyes, despite how dull, shone through his brow. His expression was firm, and it could only be described as frustration or anger. His hand was firmly attached to the sword. Perhaps he didn’t want to let go. Caliburn didn’t say anything. He didn’t know any words that would deter this hedgehog from the things he was considering. Or the fate he was bringing him to.
“Blue! Please! Just stop!” Sonic panted. He finally caught up with the king.
“Why not?!” Blue snapped. “Everything- EVERYTHING is because of this thing!” He addressed caliburn like an object. “He was the cause of ALL OF THIS! The magic that’s inside of him- if I hadn’t used it, none of this would be happening!” He gritted his teeth, baring his gums. He gripped caliburn even tighter than before. “The magic of Excaliburn corrupted me… turned me into a monster that I can never forget. I was filled with rage and sadness… I needed everyone to feel my pain.”
“And why did it change you? Why did Excaliburn bring out the worst in you?”
“BECAUSE MY FAMILY IS DEAD! THAT IS WHY, SONIC!” The yell pushed all the air out of his lungs. “MY MOTHER, MY FATHER, MY UNCLE… THEY ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF THAT TYRANT! They were so kind… they pushed me to be who I am… and now they are NOTHING BUT ASH!”
“Even so, would they want you to be like THIS? A shut in, sad and pathetic, about to kill one of his friends! Is that what they pushed you to be?”
The king struggled to hold back his tears, his throat throbbed and burned and he struggled to breathe. He bared his fangs at Sonic and resisted the urge to scream at him. He needed to scream. His body shook again.
“I don’t know what you’re feeling, but it’s okay to feel these things. Excaliburn may have gave your emotions a physical form, but they aren’t who you are deep down, I can see that.” Sonic took a single step towards the king. “Blue, I know you want everyone to be happy. You want good things to happen. You want everyone to be free to do what they want to do. I’m like that to.”
“But the sad truth is that there is always gonna be someone, or something that’s gonna try and stop you from doing that. That’s why you need to step up and show the world who’s boss! You’re a good person, Blue. Please, put down Caliburn and let’s just talk. Okay?”
The king stared at sonic in his calm eyes, his own were sharp. Trying to stare daggers into the younger hedgehog that looked like him. He acted so much like him, full of positivity and hope for others, so naieve. No, he wasn’t naieve.
He knew just as well of the horrors that could come, and yet he persisted in staying his sickeningly optimistic self. He was just like him. He was him. They were each other. Both of them were just as likely to be the one in front of them as likely as they were to be themselves.
The hedgehogs broke eye contact and drew their attention to the fox, who stood not far from them. He didn’t look angry or upset, he was determined. He looked at the king through firm eyes, only then, now, the king finally softened.
“Go away, Miles…” He squeaked through his throat.
“No” Miles said flatly.
Blue put a hand over his face, tilting it away from the fox. “You shouldn’t see me like this… I don’t want you to…”
“I know, I don’t care.”
 “…why…?”
“You’ve done bad things, I know. But I don’t care about that. They don’t define who are are! You are a kind person, Sonic. A kind person who’s helped so many people.” The fox walked up to him. “The whole reason you’re king is because Caliburn chose YOU! He chose you because he knew you were a good person. You’ve done so many selfless things for others, I can’t even count! You are King Arthur because you DESERVE to be!” He chuckled. “I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s true.”
Blue glanced his tired eyes at the ground. “How do you know it wasn’t a lie?”
Miles raised a brow, then shook his head and sighed. “I don’t. But it doesn’t mean that what I’m saying ISN’T true. I think you are the best person alive! Youre someone who's very important to me!” He reached up and took the kings hand and held it in its own. He smiled. “I love you, big brother.”
Tears streamed down Blue’s face as the emotions inside of him burst open like water from a broken dam. He collapsed to the floor and sobbed, dropping Caliburn to his side who continued to stay silent. Miles wrapped his arms around the king and let him sink into his chest. He sobbed and cried and whined, letting out years of built up emotions of pain and regret, he was so sorry. So sorry about everything.
Sonic picked up Caliburn and sat on a rock not far from them, his eye caught Lancelot standing a bit of a ways down the mountain. This wasn’t his business to be in, but he didn’t want to leave them completely alone. Sonic rested his cheek against his hand and smiled.
“You are a lot like him.” Caliburn finally spoke.
Sonic chuckled. “What? The king, or mister dark and brooding?.”
Caliburn laughed. “You know who I mean.”
Sonic returned the laughter. “Yeah I know.”
“I am surprised, though. That you do act like him, when he was younger. But you are from somewhere different. Somewhere where none of this exists. It’s like you came from his past.”
“Maybe. Or maybe I’m just this good in every timeline!” He winked.
“I see you also have his ego…”
“Guilty as charged.”
“Sonic.” The dark hedgehog appeared in front of him. “I wanted to say that even if you’re actions are extremely reckless… thank you, for doing it.”
Sonic raised a brow. “You’re thanking me? For screwing stuff up?”
“I know I haven’t been the best host to you, none of us really have been. But I am glad you came here, and I am glad you helped the king. Hopefully things will be much brighter now. The king, and the kingdom.”
Sonic grinned widely. “Heh. It’s no biggie. I do this stuff all the time!”
Lancelot shook his head and smiled and Sonic returned it.
“You know, Lancelot. When I first arrived, I thought that everyone was just a version of my friends. Ya know, just putting on a costume with a slightly different backstory. But I know that’s not the case now. You may look like them, but you aren’t them, you’re different.”
“How different am I to your friend? I believe his name was ‘Shadow’?”
Sonic chuckled. “Well for starters, he’s SOOOO serious about everything! He’s the guy to ask questions later. He calls ME a hazard, yet the times I’ve met him, he’s the one looking for trouble!”
“He sounds… interesting.” Lancelot said with a brow raised.
“Perhaps he should take lessons from you, Lancelot.” Caliburn said.
Lancelot shrugged. “Perhaps.”
The young fox came towards them. His and the king hands were locked together tightly like two pieces of a puzzle now united. The king looked tired, not like how he used to though. He was tired from crying, expelling all his energy into the fox that was much younger and smaller than him in comparison.
“… I’m sorry for what I’ve done… and what I’ve tried to do.” Blue said sorrowly. “I understand if you think less of me. But now ill be better, for everyone. Ill make up for the hurtful years I've caused.”
Lancelot scoffed. “you don't need to, because I never thought of you liked that.”
“Really?”
“Of course. I knew back then you weren’t yourself, and I know now that you weren’t in the right mind either.”
Blue smiled, relieved at his comment. Lancelot smiled back, but just as quickly it turned into a smug grin. “Though, I hope that something like that doesn’t happen again. I don’t want to run all the way down to the town to grab the Fox, just so you can stop whining.”
“You remember I’m your king, right?”
“Of course. Why else do you think I said those things?”
Blue couldn’t help but laugh at that, and the others soon joined in. Even though the sun had long set, things felt brighter. There was no weight of the word, no weight of guilt. Not anymore, not ever for the time to come. Things were okay now. Finally. They were. Okay…

Golden heart (SATBK au fic) chapter 7
Another long chapter, and I am very exited to share it, this one was fun. Sonic and Miles go through the back entrance of the castle and meet someone slightly new. Heres to hoping they don't get caught after this.
Chapter1 Chapter6 Chapter8
Chapter 7- Catacombed
The wind blew a cold breeze past the two, howling out a loud cry as it rustled the leaves of the foliage that decorated the landscape. Sonic Instinctively slapped the foxes hand who was obviously surprised by it, but thankfully not upset.
Miles folded his arms. “So what sort of genius plan did you make?”
“I Uh… don’t have a plan, actually…” Sonic nervously admitted.
“I figured” Miles rolled his eyes before walking past Sonic and up the dirt path. “I guess we should try the front entrance.”
“No no no no! Wait!” Sonic zoomed in front of the older fox. “I have an idea!”
“Let’s hear it, then.”
“Well…” Sonic began as he folded his hands behind his back. “We COULD go the boring way and go through the front door and maybe maybe not get in… OR we could go down through the dark basement labyrinth areas that all castles have!”
“You mean catacombs?” Miles raised a brow.
“Yeah that! We can sneak right in and surprise the guy!”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Sonic.”
“What? Just because you’re older than me, you suddenly have all the wisdom?” He waved an encouraging hand before jogging off. “Come on! It’ll be fun!”
“Wait!- ugh…” Miles groaned as he followed the blue hedgehog.
It was similar to those many years ago. That hyperactive hedgehog was the same as the king even before he was crowned. Always impulsive, never stopping, never slowing down, not for more than a moment. ‘I’m as free as the wind!’ He would say, ‘Knight of the wind’ he was. The world was calling to him, and he would always answer it. As much as one would groan at his impulsivity, it was that that made him beloved by many, and all he would help along his many travels.
One would think it was his chivalry, he WAS still a knight, but he would always come to the same answer; ‘it was never about chivalry for me. I just gotta do what I’ve gotta do, that’s all.’ A knight for the people, a loving king for everyone. But after he was crowned King, he seemed sort of… bummed out. No one really knew why, but maybe… maybe it was because it didn’t seem like he was helping out of his own heart. Maybe it just seemed like a job.
“Do you even know where the entrance is?” Miles asked.
“Nope! I don’t even know if this place HAS catacombs!” Sonic grinned.
“You created a plan you didn’t even know would work?” Miles said flatly.
“Hey, I’m not hearing good ideas from YOU!”
“Uh, THE FRONT DOOR!”
“Found it!”
Miles sighed and stepped beside Sonic. He had uncovered an old door that was covered with plant life, vines and bushes and whatever foliage decided to latch itself onto it. Even removing the foliage, the door was stuck.
“Oh no! We can’t continue on!” Miles said flatly. “We better go and try using THE FRONT DOOR, which is the EASIEST way!”
“Ha! YOU underestimate me! ‘Brotha from different blood-a’!” Sonic said.
“I don’t know what you just said, but even I know that’s not how that would go.”
“Shut up and watch this!” Sonic revved up a spin attack and launched himself at the door, breaking it off its old and rusted hinges. “See! Like a pro! Come on, we got things to do!”
Sonic marched on inside, Miles sighed again and followed after him into the contrasting darkness. The tombs were cold, dark, and dusty, only being lit by faint embers of torches that were on their last breath. Sonic took a hanging torch off its mantle and reawakened the embers, blowing carefully to refuel its flames, it wasn’t much but they could see at least a little bit better. The two traversed down, deeper into the bowls of the castle.
“If you get us lost in here, I swear to gaia…” Miles cursed.
“We won’t get lost!” Sonic reassured. “We just gotta keep a mental note of where we’re going!”
Miles rolled his eyes and looked around. All around them were walls of old stone bricks still holding up after many years, old lanterns and torches still hung up and burning, though not as bright as their own torch. There was an old carpet at their feet, it seemed that this place had been kept under some maintenance.
They passed many old rooms, some were for storage, one was for a winery, some were for more stairs. There were so many doors, possibly a bit too difficult to remember them all. It was a good thing that opening them could show exactly what they are.
Miles stopped and peaked his head up at a stairwell, he could faintly hear a pair talking, but he couldn’t discern who. Neither of them didn’t really sound like the king, but it has been a while since he’s had a conversation with him.
“Sonic, I think I found a way out!” Miles called to him, but received no answer. “…. Sonic!” He called again, there was still no answer. “Sonic come here!” He said louder, his voice reverberated down the hall.
“Hey, Miles, I think I found something cool!” Sonic ignored and called out to the fox.
“Why do I even bother…?” Miles groaned and walked over to where Sonic was standing
“Look at this!” Sonic pointed to a decently sized dark oak door. It had a variety of painted embellishments onto it. “It has a big lock on it though.”
“Well, then we probably shouldn’t go into it. If it’s locked for a reason, then who knows what could be in-“
There was a click, and the door cried as it opened before Miles’s eyes.
“There we go!”
Miles blinked. “… how did you do that?”
“My friend Shadow taught me how to pick locks with my quills one time!” Sonic held up two of his quills before tossing them aside. “Helps that I have an unlimited supply of them!” He cockily grinned. “Now let’s see what’s inside!”
Miles grabbed sonic by the arm. “Sonic, I don’t think we should go in there. It might’ve been locked for a reason.”
“Ah come on, Miles! It'll be fine!” Sonic waved a dismissive hand. “What’s the worst that can happen?”
“Oh I don’t know, If someone found us, we could be out in jail? Or worse, exiled?”
“Why would we be exiled for being in a room?”
“I don’t know? It depends on how bad whatever is in there is!”
“Miles, it’s fine! You got nothing to worry about!”
Miles gripped his own ears in frustration. “Ugh! I don’t understand! Why are you so dumb and impulsive?!”
Sonic's grin disappeared. Those words coming out of his brother- or another version of him, felt more hurtful than if anyone else had said it. Even if he didn’t mean to say it in a hurtful way.
“Okay, I don’t know why I’m ‘dumb and impulsive’. But I’m not all like that.” Sonic said. “I guess it’s just that I live in the moment, for the adventure and adrenaline. And… I guess that with you around, I kinda get carried Away…”
He gave a bright smile. “I like adventuring with my little bro! And, well, you remind me of him! Well, you kinda ARE him. So I want to adventure with you!”
Miles put a hand over his mouth as he tried to choke back tears. That was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to him since he was with the king. He looked away and coughed.
“W-Well… If it’s for being with you… then I guess we can look inside for a little bit. As long as we try not to get caught.”
“Haha yeah!” Sonic hit the fox’s shoulder. “Now we’re talking!” He went inside the room, bouncing from one foot to the other. “Now come on! Let’s see what’s inside!”
The room had shelves filled with beautiful trinkets and treasures, possibly taken from the many adventures of the person, or persons. There was a beautiful array of various vases, books, figures, coins, pant life that had long since wilted, all decorated among each shelf. Swords and knifes laid and leaned against each surface. Old cloth hung on the furniture. It was like stepping into some sort of treasure trove
“Woah! This is so cool!” Sonic carefully lifted up a small figure. It was carefully hand carved from the most darkest wood and sealed to keep it from rotting. It was a bird, but he didn’t know what kind it was supposed to be. It was still beautiful.
He turned to Miles who kept his hands to himself, and looked over each item that had accumulated dust overtime. He didn’t want to accidentally break anything, though those blades intrigued his blacksmith heart.
“Hey, you know. I don’t think anyone would mind if you picked up something to look at it…” Sonic said.
“I- yes I know…” Miles blushed a little in embarrassment. “I just… don’t want to break anything-“
A dagger crowded His face, sonic had taken it from its shelf and brought it to him. “Hey, it’s not like a skilled blacksmith like yourself will damage it!”
The blacksmith grabbed the dagger from his hands. “It’s still someone else’s property! We shouldn’t be messing around with- … wait…”
Sonic tilted his head. “What?”
The fox brought the end of the handle close to himself and examined it. He felt the leather that tightly wrapped around it. “….. This is my work…”
“You mean, you made that?”
“I had made this for the king right before his coronation…” he looked at a dull sword that leaned against the wall. “… and I gave this to him as a birthday present” he turned to sonic, looking around the room. “Are… ALL of my works in here?”
“Well I hope so! I would not have myself replaced by some common sword!” Outcome a muffled voice.
“…did you hear that?”sonic asked.
“That voice is… familiar..” miles looked to where the voice came from.
“If you are who I think you are, I should hope that I am familiar to you!” The voice barely escaped from its hiding place.
A decently large wooden chest adorned with leather straps sat deep in a dark corner, away from everything around it, like someone had purposely hid it away, tried to at least. A large lock kept the chest from opening.
“Think we should open it?” Sonic asked the fox.
“… I’m not sure…” Miles rested his chin in his hand.
“Oh for Gaia’s sake, I can’t believe I'M the one who has to say this- JUST OPEN THE DAMN CASE!” The voice had jostled the chest from side to side.
The two looked at eachother again. Sonic shrugged and walked over to the case. He plucked a quill of two from his head, kneeling down and unlocked it with a satisfying click.
“Ah, finally! Hurry up and open it! I can’t stand being in this dusty chest for much longer!” The voice nagged.
Sonic lifted the roof of the case. “You know, I think there was probably a good reason why you were-“ Sonic had begun to tease the voice but stopped. Inside the chest was… a sword? A large one to.
“What? What was the reason?” The sword demanded. “Tell me! I would like to hear it!”
Sonic's mouth was agape. “Uhh…. What the heck?”
Miles leaned over the hedgehog's shoulder, his eyes widened once they had landed on the blade. “Caliburn?!”
Caliburn smiled once he recognized the fox. “Ah! Blacksmith Miles! It has been so long!”
“Wait- Caliburn? Like the sword in the stone?” Sonic said bewildered.
Caliburn was lifted out of the box by Miles, even though it still shined, his blade was dulled by its lack of use and full of dust that had made its way inside the case. He might’ve been in that chest for a long time, but who knows how long.
Miles stroked the blade. “I’m sorry this had happened to you.”
“Ah, do not be sorry, Smithy.” Caliburn said. “It wasn’t you who put me in this chest.”
“Um, sorry to interrupt. But I think I’m still caught up in, the sword in the stone talks?!” Sonic stuck his hands out.
The sword bounced from the smithy’s hand over to Sonic. “What’s this? King sonic? Why do you look so young?”
“Hey, I’m not the king! But I my name IS still sonic the hedgehog!”
“He’s from another world. One where the king is, well, not the king.” Miles said to the sword.
“I see…” Caliburn mumbled.
Sonic folded his arms. “Yeah, I’ve been getting recognized as the guy a lot.”
“Well, I can certainly see the resemblance. It seems like you’d be as reckless with a sword as he once was!”
“Wuh- HEY!”
Miles tried to hide a chuckle before he spoke. “He does have a mind of his own, sonic. He is supposed to choose its bearer.”
Sonic softened his expression and gave a chuckle back. “Yeah, well it’s got a pretty smart mouth on it for a sword!”
“Hmph! The impertinent one is you, Hedgehog!” Caliburn paused before that last word. They had said this before, a long time ago.
“If you don’t mind me asking. Who put you in that chest?” Miles had took Caliburn by the handle again.
“I think you know who.” Caliburn answered with a wary and sorrow-filled voice.
“Are you talking about the king?” Sonic raised a wary brow.
“Yes. He had sworn to never touch another blade like myself.” Caliburn said sorrowly. “Not after what he had done.”
“Okay, not to be rude. But all day people have been talking about something bad happening in the past, and no one is telling me anything about it!” Sonic cried. “Can I please at least know what’s going on?”
“I may be of use…” came a soft voice from the opened doorway. They turned their attention to the purple knight who stood there, taking up minimal space, her helmet still on her head.
Caliburn smiled at seeing the knight. “Ah! Sir Percival. It’s nice to see you again.”

Golden heart [a SATBK au fic] chapter 8
Finally we are getting answers to what happened with the king. This chapter is packed with lore, so hold on tight this will be a ride. Plus a certain hedgehog of ours may be making a bad mistake.
Chapter1 Chapter7 Chapter9
Chapter 8- Memories of the past
The purple knight stood in the doorway, her thin figure taking up only a quarter of it, her hands folded neatly in front of her like in prayer. She gave an uneasy feeling around her.
“Uh, hey Percival.” Sonic’s voice wavered. “You’re not gonna tell the king about us being in here, are you?”
She shook her head. “No. That would serve no purpose.”
The tension on his shoulders disappeared and Sonic relaxed with a sigh. “Thank goodness!”
“If you aren’t here to expose us, then why are you here?” Miles said curiously.
“Yes. I would like to know as well.” Said Caliburn.
Percival nodded, but stayed silent for a little longer. “The young hedgehog. He… has something that I think could help.”
Sonic placed his hands on his hips and grinned. “I have something that can help someone? Haven’t had something like that happen before.”
“I know how it seems. But I can see you have a good spirit.” She had placed a hand over her chest. “And if you are a version of the king, you may be able to get through to him more than the others can.”
“What even happened with him? It’s kind of surprising he’s supposed to be me when he’s such a, ya know, a shut-in.”
Percival hid herself further in her helmet, glancing away from them. Her tail swayed between her legs uncomfortably. That uneasy feeling around her came back and the room fell silent.
“Perhaps if it’s alright, Sir Percival. May I say a few things, if it would give you time to compose yourself.” Caliburn had asked. Percival gave a small nod in return.
Caliburn cleared his throat before speaking. “A few years ago after the king was crowned, a dark knight had emerged. He was ruthless and devoid of emotion, he moved like a lost spirit. He had caused great destruction to the landscape, and great pain to the knights of the round table. I do not know what had happened, but the knight suddenly vanished, to never be seen again since.”
“I thought that he was defeated by the king when he first came to Camelot?” Miles questioned. “He did disappear because he was an illusion, but he was slain by him! Even his duel with Merlina, she didn’t disappear after he had won!”
“I am not talking about them, young blacksmith. I’m talking about the other dark knight…. King Sonic, himself.” A cold feeling of dread filled the room as both brothers' eyes widened in realization.
Miles' chest felt heavy, his lungs brought out so much air despite it feeling like none was coming in or out at all. The thought of the king becoming something so awful, something that he swore to protect others from, clouded the blacksmith's mind. He couldn’t believe it, not a word of it. But it would have to be true, Caliburn was not a sword known for lying, and he wouldn’t make such crude jokes about the king.
Miles gritted his teeth. “N-no… I- I refuse to believe this…”
“I am sorry, but I am speaking nothing but the truth.” The sword said softly.
“Then why did it happen?”
“Unfortunately I do not know... But your friend, the king… he had fallen into something dark.”
A pit formed in Sonic's stomach. The king…. himself, had became something terrible. His arms felt heavy, and his legs felt weak for the first time. He shook, his feet were stuck to the ground like roots from a tree. There was no solution or excuse that Sonic could come to in his mind. Nothing could excuse what had happened to the king, nothing could be a good enough excuse for it.
He had destroyed the landscape, had hurt people, he could only cause pain to others, and he felt nothing. Caliburn words were sincere with not a trace of deception. The king had really changed back then. Even now he was different to who he once was, no longer the brave hero like Sonic is. And if the king was anything like Sonic, then what is stopping him from doing the same thing?
Sonic shook his head. Even if they are the same hedgehog on the surface, they are not the same deep down. Sonic knew that even if he could change in the way the king had, it didn’t mean he would. And he knew that the king was just as capable as this as he was. He took a deep guttural breath and sighed, his anxiety fading away.
“Sir Percival. Would you mind retelling what happened that day?” Caliburn said cautiously. “If it's not too much trouble.”
Percival nodded, finally working up enough courage to speak. It had left serious scars on her, but she needed to share it.
“Years ago, a dreaded being came onto this land. His name was Lord Robotnik, but he was not one. He was a merciless dictator who conquered and ruled many kingdoms with an iron fist. He forced his subjects to work and slave over him, forcing some to fight when they didn’t want to or couldn’t. He was awful and destructive. He had come to Camelot to conquer this kingdom, he had heard of a king born from another land that fought to protect others, whos spirit shone bright even in the darkest hours, and he wanted to crush it so badly.
Of course, our king didn’t stand down from a fight. He, along with myself and the other knights of the round table dawned our armor and headed off to protect our land, the king led us with Excaliburn in hand. We had fought Lord Robotnik's forces for many days and knights, terrible soldiers cursed and stripped of their lives and will. We could not help them. We could not help ourselves.
One day, Lord Robotnik had finally beaten us down. I was the only other knight left standing, but I was barely able to fight. Our king stood strong for all of us, he would not back down for someone so rotten. He screamed at the lord that even if he’s knocked down he would keep standing back up, keep fighting for the people, the kingdom, his home, all of it. He will not stop till he’s breathed his last breath. The Lord responded back… that he shouldn’t fight for something that was no more.
The kings home was taken by him, the kingdom he grew up in. The Kingdom of Green Hills, reduced to nothing but ash and rubble. I thought he was lying, to get under our kings skin, to force him to surrender. But he gave proof. He tossed to him the crown of his old king, battered and charred, and still holding the blood of its old owner. That’s when finally, I saw the king fall to his knees.
I didn’t hear anything after that, no sound came to me as I assumed Lord Robotnik continued to talk down to him, to all of us. I saw that light of hope in our king waver and fade slowly, becoming dimmer and dimmer with each passing second that felt like it went by in years. Our king was down on his knees. We had lost.
Every part of me felt like it was burning alive, I couldn’t believe or understand what was happening. My vision was unfocused and my body was stiff as a corpse. I don’t remember what had happened for a little while, my mind is fuzzy. But my vision finally came back to me, when the king finally stood again, but he was different. That glowing golden light of hope inside of him turned as black as the night sky, but I realized that this aura wasn’t just in my imagination.
I could faintly hear Excalibur… Caliburn plead to him, words that I could barely make out, but he didn’t listen. I watched as through that dark mist, he changed. His golden armor turned black, and his quills lost its bright blue hue. Caliburn’s  pleads faded to nothing as the sword in his hands turned red. The king was no longer there anymore.
I came back to reality when he drew back his sword and cried loudly, striking the blade down at the Cruel Lord and his spiritless men. The strike was so powerful that it broke the mountains in the distance, and struck down the Lord and all his knights. We had won, but the battle was far over. Sir Lancelot and Sir Gawain finally stood up. They were relieved that the battle was finally over. I saw them pause once they drew their attention to the king.
Gawain was wary, but he had thought that our king had gained some sort of blessing so he could finally end the fight. He approached him, asking him what had happened. The king said nothing. Instead he raised his sword again and struck Gawain. He had hit his face, it was a miracle he didn’t lose his eye. Lancelot had stepped in to block an upcoming second blow, but he could barely do anything as the next strike broke his sword in two. The king grabbed Lancelot by his throat and threw him into Gawain, sending both of them to the ground with a deafening thud.
I wanted to run, but my body still didn’t have enough strength to move then. I watched as the king looked at his hand, and then to me. There I saw his hollowing white eyes, his emotionless face. There was nothing in him, but I could feel his numbing rage. He walked up to me, each step of his sounded like the bangs of fireworks in my ears, deafening and painful. He stopped before me and stared into my eyes, and I stared back. If his eyes could steal souls then he would have stolen mine.
I stared into his eyes for what felt like centuries. Even so, I didn’t notice till it was too late, that he had lifted his hand up and hovered it over my face. Mere seconds before he gently placed it on top, and it burned. It burned like he was made of molten lava, and no matter how hard I screamed and cried, trying to pry myself from his grasp, he wouldn’t move. He stood there and watched as I writhed in agony, he had placed his hand in a way where I still retained my vision, to be able to see his emotionless face. But he was still full of rage.
The next thing I remember was coming back to reality again, long after the king had released his grip on my face. Gawain and Lancelot were up again, but still recovering. The king was nowhere in sight though, but caliburn was left on the ground back to his original state. Once we could all finally stand again, we came back to the kingdom. The king had come back, but he didn’t leave his room for ages after that.”
The knight had finished her story and the room became quiet again.
“…Are you okay?” Sonic said to break the silence.
“Yes. I am.” Percival responded. “I know that the king wasn’t himself then. And I know he regrets what he had done.” She placed a hand to her helmet. “To be honest, the injury doesn’t bother me that much. I keep it on for the king.”
“I can’t believe the King had did that.” Miles' ears flattened to his head.
“I know, Miles.” Caliburn said softly. “I do not know what had came over him. I can only hope that something like that never happens again.”
Sonic rubbed his arm. “Well, you said that he regretted what had happened, right? Maybe we can talk to him and sort out all this mess.”
“I don’t think that would be so easy. If the king had shut himself out like that and had put me away, I do not think he would be keen to conversation about this.”
“But he can’t be a shut in forever! He’s basically me, right? He should be dying to get out there! See the world again!” Sonic waved his arms out.
“I know you want to help him.” Percival said. “But I believe it would be best to talk to him at another time. Perhaps when you know what to say.”
Sonic crossed his arms. “Hey, I’m GREAT at conversation! I know what to say all the time! Plus the guy is me, it shouldn’t be that hard to talk to him.”
“You may be him, Sonic. But you don’t know everything that accompanies his mind.” Caliburn said. “He is much older than you too.”
Sonic grunted. He wanted to skip all over this drama, but the others were right, he doesn’t know everything. And to intrude on someone else’s business without their permission was sort of rude. He sighed. “Okay, fine. I’ll drop it.”
“Good. I think it’s about time for us to rest now anyways.” Percival said.
“And I suppose I’ll be placed back in my case.” Caliburn sighed.
“Maybe I can take you with me to my shop?” Miles said to the blade.
Caliburn turned down the idea. “I appreciate the thought, but I do not think that is the best idea. If anyone found out I was missing, I do not know what might happen.”
“Do you want to be stuck in a box again?” Sonic asked.
“It was a chest, and frankly, I do not want you to get in trouble.” Caliburn said.
“Come on, how many times do people come down here anyways?”
“Well, about once at the start of each month at most to refill the lanterns…”
“See! No one is gonna notice you were missing! Plus we’ll have easy access to you once we know how to get to Ol king hermit.” Sonic turned to miles. “That a good idea?”
“I suppose it wouldn’t hurt… at least for one night I guess?” Miles said sheepishly.
The blade sighed. “Alright. But if anything happens because of this, I will gladly say ‘I told you so’!”
They all had parted their own ways, Percival had left to her room, and Miles came back to his little shop, leaving sonic alone in the large hall. It was a shame that Miles couldn’t reunite with Blue, at least not yet, it wasn’t the right time. Sonic walked down the hall, looking through the glass windows out into the night. The sky looked almost as dark as ink, like the void or the endless abyss of space. It made Sonic think back to the time where he had flown through space as super sonic. Though it was to save the earth, he wished he could become super again to fly around the cosmos, just for a little while.
He ran into the king who seemed to be on his way to bed. His eyes were more droopy and tired than usual, his arms laid lazily to his sides, and one of his ears had flopped over, he didn’t bother to fix it.
“A-Ah! hey blue!” Sonic said. “Nice seeing you! Guessing you’re headed to bed, eh?”
“Yes. I’ve had a long day.” Blue yawned. “I’m more than ready to fall asleep. Speaking of which, you should to.”
“Yeah! Right! Bedtime!” Sonic paused. “Um… where do I sleep, actually?”
“Ugh. Right. You don’t have a bed.” Blue groaned
“Eh, I can sleep practically anywhere, no worries!” Sonic smiled but paused again. “But um, maybe I can sleep in the same room with you? Ya know, just so I don’t worry anyone who finds me or something.”
“Really? Sleep in my bedroom?”
“Yeah! It'll be fun! And I said, I can sleep anywhere. Just gimme a pillow and blanket and I’ll be fine!”
Blue glanced away and thought to himself. Was it wise to take up on his offer? “…. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.” Sonic grinned widely at the kings response. He placed a finger on Sonics forehead. “But I don’t want you rummaging through my things, okay?”
“Understood your highness!” Sonic nodded.
The king brought Sonic to a large room where an equally large bed sat in the middle of it. To each side was a beautiful dark oak wardrobe and a large chair sat beside one of them.
“WHAT? You get ALL THIS to YOURSELF?” Sonic said in amazement.
Blue walked up and opened one of the wardrobes. “Perks of being the king I suppose. Blanket?”
“Yeah sure.” Sonic said before a wool blanket landed in his arms. “Thanks!” He laid it out on the small chair, creating a small nest for him to sleep in.
He turned his attention to the king who was taking off his metal boots and the under guard beneath them, revealing just how far down the scars on his legs went. He then slid off his cape, revealing even more of the scars he had accumulated over his adventuring years. Two large scars formed an X on his back between his quills. He hesitated to take off his metal gauntlet.
“…what happened?” Sonic asked.
Blue cupped his metallic hand and looked at sonic. “What?”
“Uh- I mean… your hand. What happened to it?… if you don’t mind answering it..”
Blue looked at his hand. He stayed silent for a moment. “…. An accident.”
Sonic leaned in closer. “What kind of accident?”
“…It’s stupid…”
“So? I won’t judge. If it’s stupid, it might even be funny!”
Blue groaned. “Alright… I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to say it…” He folded his arms and turned to sonic. “Galahad was helping me cook one day. Lancelot came in and Galahad didn’t watch what he was doing. He poured boiling water onto my hand.”
Sonic winced. “Oof! Ouch! Did it heal well?”
“Apart from it being hard to use it sometimes. Yes.” he took off the metal gauntlet, revealing his scarred hand. “It doesn’t mean I like looking at the scaring though.”
“Yeesh!” Sonic cringed. “You got any feeling in that?”
“Of course I do.” Blue said as he slipped on a white pair of gloves. “The scaring only mildly affects my movement.”
“Well, I’m glad it doesn't seem to be too serious...”
Blue placed his crown on the nightstand and sat onto his bed. “Yep. It still hurt like hell though.” He yawned. “Well, I’m ready to knock out. Can you turn off the lights, please?”
“Sure.” Sonic nodded and went to each corner of the room, blowing out each of the candles that illuminated it.
“Thank you…” Blue had mumbled as he already drifted off into slumber. It’s funny, the guy is in his 30’s yet acts like he’s 60. Can’t blame him though. When you have a kingdom on your shoulders, it could wear you out.
Sonic hopped into his makeshift bed, burying himself like a little animal. He laid inside, nice and cozy. But something prevented him from falling asleep, a lingering thought that couldn’t leave his head. He tossed and turned in place, trying to ignore the thoughts in his head. He couldn’t resist them.
He sat up in his bed and looked at the king, his eyes had only begun to adjust to the darkness. The king was fast asleep, but knowing himself, he might be up later for a midnight walk. Sonic hesitated, but he slowly hopped out of bed and silently left the room.

More SatBK/Avalon Series headcanons.
Gawain is perfectly ambidextrous. Lamorak and Tristan both favour their right hands more than their lefts, but are decently adept at using both hands.
Lancelot is left handed.
During knight training, Lamorak and Tristan hated each other; they got along better after being knighted, and would later on consider each other friends. Tristan’s disappearance bothered Lamorak greatly, though he never voiced anything about it.
In the brief ‘Round Table Split’, Lancelot’s supporters included Galahad, Lamorak, and Kay. Gawain’s supporters included Bedivere, Bors, and Geraint.
Yseult gets along well with Guinevere, Smithy (and the smiths), and Merlina.
Bors tends to talk with his mouth full. It’s led to coughing fits.
Tristan likes to document her quests and trials in journals and reports; she’s also fond of writing letters, though thanks to her betrayal of her home, she doesn’t have anyone to write to, anymore.
Arthur doesn’t love being king, and he never will, but he’s come to accept and appreciate his role.
Gaheris enjoys pen and paper games, and has created a few of his own. He likes to plan game nights for the Round Table. Guin calls them Game Knights and Gaheris made it the official title.
Galahad and Percival go to every Game Knight.
Percival is excellent at strategy games and helps out Galahad when he can’t figure out what to do.
Gareth is an excellent swimmer and has often offered to teach Arthur.
Smithy was Galahad’s main babysitter when the boy was still very young and Lancelot had to rush out at a moment’s notice.
Gaheris’ leg acts up when it rains and he’ll often limp during those times. Lancelot has carried him away from danger a few times because of this, always apologising. Gaheris forgives him every time.
Kay is dyslexic and it frustrates him greatly because he can’t explain why reading is more difficult for him than others.
Arthur, Guin, Bors and Bedivere (and Elyan) are all able to play instruments. Sometimes they practice together.
One of Geraint’s favourite illusions to place on others is making them think the door handle is on the opposite side than it really is.
Geraint used to really mess with the others via his illusions, but as he grew older he found more satisfaction at making things just slightly off.
Enid is 85% of Geraint’s impulse control.
Omega still lives at Crystal Cave; Guin and Lancelot devised a whistle to let him know that they’re there. It took some time, but Omega has come to recognise and respond to his name.
Only Guin and Lancelot are allowed to climb on to Omega. Almost no one is allowed to touch Omega aside from them; Arthur is an uncertain exception, given that he often smells like Lancelot and Guinevere, but Omega still prefers him to keep his distance.

Note
i keep reading your office au posts, which are brilliant, but i literally have no idea who is who 😅 i really dont know anything abt the medevial thing so the characters are completely lost on me
It's from the Avalon Series that I write! There's a link to ToA on my blog, but it's 90k words and I get it if you're not up for that kind of read just to fill in the blanks. The Office AU does incorporate some elements specifically from that series (Arthur and Guin being married but just as friends, Galahad being Lancelot's son, most characters being 15-16 years older than their canon ages, etc.) but again, you don't really need to read the fic to enjoy the ride.
So are you unfamiliar with just the Avalon Series, or Sonic and the Black Knight as a whole? I'll list everyone, just in case. So, in order of (office) appearance:
Lamorak: Jet
Tristan: Sally
Bors: Vector
Galahad: Silver
Lancelot: Shadow
Arthur: Sonic
Gareth: Tikal
Guin(evere): Rouge
Percival: Blaze
Bedivere: Espio
Gawain: Knuckles
Kay: Storm
Dindrane: Wave
Smithy: Tails
Enid: Gadget
Gaheris: Mighty
Elyan: Charmy
Merlina: Merlina (SatBK exclusive character)
Geraint: Infinite
Lancelot's mother (Nimue): Amy
