My non-romantic OTP for this character: Every Non-Marge Simpson,Carl,Lenny,Moe,Smithers,Flanders at times... Homer is a genuinely outgoing guy who likes making friends.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not about Homer specifically,but I like aught's/2010's/2020's The Simpsons just as much as I like Classic The Simpsons.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: There was an episode saying how Homer was afraid of being a shit husband/parent and he often used Moe's and alcohol to escape from his duties and fears related to them,and the absences made those failures happen. I really wish there was more of those aspects of the character.

It was still early in the day, and the happy hour rush wouldn’t be due for several more hours. Moe figured he’d try to keep himself occupied by wiping down the countertop with the same rag he’d just used to clean out some dust from his glasses, but even that could only hold him out for so long. This part of the day was always the worst to get through.  A slow pan of light filled the bar when the door opened, and he looked up to see Waylon Smithers come in, holding a large brown paper bag beneath his arm and a smile on his face. “Morning, Moe.” The bartender’s face lit up to match, his day already turning around.  “Hey, haven’t seen you come around in a while.” “Yeah, it has been a while.” He sat down at the corner stool, putting the bag in front of him. “Mr. Burns received these as a gift, and he wanted me to get rid of them.” He unrolled the top of the bag and set out several packs of socks in front of him, stacking them in a sort of pyramid shape. Each pack for a different holiday: St. Patrick’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, it was endless. “I thought they were cute, but Mr. Burns and I seem to differ on what we consider good taste sometimes. I thought you might want them.” “Oh yeah, these are nice!” He picked up one of the packs threaded for Halloween and ran his thumb over the edges as if they were playing cards. “Is that cotton? Real cotton? Oh, I’m gonna make me a new blanket out of these babies.” 

Smithers handed him the bag to let him rake in the socks off the counter with his arm, but noticed quickly when one pack fell back onto the wood.  “Whoops.” “Oh, let me help.”  Their hands touched together on top of it - the pack dedicated to Valentine’s Day.
