Could Samsung's New Battery Tech Give Phones Multi-Day Battery Life?

Samsung SDI's New Battery Tech Could Give Phones a Huge Power Boost

Samsung SDI, one of the world's leading battery makers, has an exciting new technology in the works. According to a report by tech site The Elec, Samsung plans to use battery stacking tech originally developed for electric cars in smartphone batteries instead. This could mean a major improvement to how long our phones last between charges!

What is battery stacking?

Battery stacking lets manufacturers pack more power into a smaller space. It works by layering thin battery cells on top of each other like a stack of sandwiches. This helps squeeze extra energy storage into the same battery size without making it thicker.

Samsung SDI tested this tech first in electric vehicles where space and weight are tight. It increased how far EVs can drive on a single charge while lowering production costs. Now Samsung wants to bring that same boost to our mobile devices.

Phones could last way longer

Most phones today use several smaller batteries instead of one big one. While this lets makers shape batteries for slim designs, it doesn't add much extra capacity. Samsung's stacking allows far denser energy packing. If used in phones, people may only need to charge once every two days!

An iPhone battery deal in the works?

The report says Samsung has started making test prototype phone batteries using stacking at plants in South Korea and China. Industry insiders believe this is part of a plan to get major new orders—namely from Apple. While Samsung currently supplies battery tech to iPads and laptops, iPhones still use other makers' batteries.

With stacking, future iPhones may feature thinner, lighter designs with battery capacities we can only dream of today. Only time will tell if Samsung can charge up a big new deal with Apple and truly revolutionize smartphone power!

"Cobalt Red": Smartphones & Electric Cars Rely on Toxic Mineral Mined in Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo produces nearly three-quarters of the world's cobalt, an essential component in rechargeable batteries powering laptops, smartphones and electric vehicles.
But those who dig up the valuable mineral often work in horrific and dangerous conditions, says Siddharth Kara, an international expert on modern-day slavery and author of _Cobalt Red: How the Blood of the Congo Powers Our Lives_.
In an in-depth interview, he says the major technology companies that rely on this cobalt from DRC to make their products are turning a blind eye to the human toll and falsely claiming their supply chains are free from abuse, including widespread child labor.
"The public health catastrophe on top of the human rights violence on top of the environmental destruction is unlike anything we've ever seen in the modern context," says Kara. "The fact that it is linked to companies worth trillions and that our lives depend on this enormous violence has to be dealt with."

so fun fact: my phone accidentally dropped from my locker yesterday breaking the screen completely, it has one tiny crack but the liquid crystals got busted, a repair will take either 3 to 7 days, depending if the express shipping is successful or not 😭😭
here the thing:
- i had to ask family to lend me an old fashioned alarm clock. i don’t think i have relied on one in almost 20 years!
- i now need to bring some mangas to read at work during my break, i have no news or anything else to read, nor music to listen to. yesterday i was literally bored to death just staring into the void once i was done eating
- no music on my commute unless i use some cds. which is some damage control but i like my music on shuffle!!! (before you get angry at me i listen to new albums in order but once i’m familiar with them they go in the shuffle bin)
- no music at home for the same reason! i either stick to cds or i need to make a huge effort to make a gigantic playlist with all the music on my phone (which is still a tiny fraction of what a normal person listens to but still). i suck doing chores while listening to music, now it’s extra hard mode if i can’t even listen to the music i want. no music i want when i draw or just chill in front of my laptop!! i’m suffering!!
- i never realized how much dependent i am on the small internet, having it on a small device means i can check it while on the bed or couch. now i need to drag my laptop everywhere and it’s more bothersome (needs to be plugged always, the old battery lasts no more than 20/30 minutes)
- i can’t document stellina being the cutest babie ever
- any kind of communication is cut off till i’m home in front of my laptop. and like i’m bound to be glued to it if i want to chat with anyone

Can anyone tell me if the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 64GB is good for playing Final Fantasy Opera Omnia? And do you know if there are more ways to recharge it?
If you know better phones with replaceable battery (without the need for technicians) that cost up to 300€ (not more) let me know, I'll take a look. Hoping they are available here in Italy.
There is also the Gigaset GS5 but there are problems with the German post, I no longer want to deal with parcels that have disappeared or never arrived at their destination and are often returned to the sender for no reason (twice I tried and twice I never received anything forcing me to ask for a refund). I'm not the only one to complain about this, as it's mostly a problem for small overseas sellers/shops.
My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo that I've been using for 8 years and it's almost destroyed and I have to change it, after only 2 years the USB port to charge it broke so I had to buy a battery only charger and I'm going on with these since then (I had taken it to be repaired but they had only erased my datas, if that had been the problem I could have done it myself since there is the option in the phone 🙄). It has android 4.4 and many apps no longer work, soon not even WhatsApp. 💔
I try to get help wherever I can ask… 🙏
