Hi all! I've been working pretty extensively on a review of Slow Damage for the past month or so. I'm extremely excited to say that it'll finally be premiering on July 31st.

It's 1:42:00 in total with a non-spoiler section first followed by an extensive discussion of each route. Though I have a great deal of criticisms for it, I want to talk about the many ways this VN impacted me and why it's become Nitro+Chiral's best title to date.

For its complex look at trauma, self destruction, and living as a survivor, Slow Damage is a true masterpiece and worthy of every accolade I can give it.

Ok another thought about Slow Damage, that I've had from the beginning kinda, is that I love how overtly gay it is. I mean mostly in comparison with other Nitro+Chiral games, but a bit in general too.

First, with how they establish soon enough that Towa is like, hooking up with guys or whatever. I wasn't exactly surprised, cause I feel like that's just kinda how the BL genre has envolved in this last decade (and I guessed it from the info that Towa liked to get hurt or something), but still, it's something.

What kinda surprised me and made me happy though was how it didn't just end there. Rei is also openly queer, he and Towa even talk about whether someone is "his type", we have that other guy from the hospital (that Towa is shady towards lol), we meet one of Towa's hook-ups, when Ikuina says that the guy sending the flowers was in his 50's/60's Rei talks about him having a crush on Taku. Even the suggestion he makes then, that the guy could be embarrassed about it "especially since he's a guy" kinda makes it all more real, like it's not some perfect gay utopia (well, dystopia?) where that's the norm.

We have really come a long way from DRAMAtical Murder and I think that's great (love you Aoba, but COME ON!!!).
