FOSSIL FUEL
"A blast from the past!"
Youthful and spunky, Fossil Fuel always wanted to be more than just an ordinary dinosaur. Now that she’s a Dual-Wielder, she’s finally living that dream, and her incredible speed and wicked kicks prove that she has what it takes to be a hero.

Millions of years ago, in the distant past, dinosaurs roamed the Skylands. Well, they didn’t roam the entirety of Skylands – their main city was the Cretaceous Castle, and the majority of dinosaurs lived in or near that area. Unfortunately for the residents of Cretaceous Castle, a meteorite struck the castle and wiped them all out.
In the not-as-distant past, another meteorite struck the exact same spot, which was now overgrown ruins with not a living creature in sight. However, this meteorite was bursting with Undead elemental energy, and all the dinosaurs pulled themselves up out of the ground and went straight back to whatever they were doing before, only fossilised now.
A museum was built around the crater and quickly became a popular tourist destination. Fossil Fuel had been hired as a janitor – a job she wasn’t particularly excited for, but it was a first step, she supposed – and was about to start her first day of work. Before she could even pick up a mop, a massive explosion from the impact crater shook the whole museum. Running as fast as she could, Fossil Fuel was the first to reach the crater, where a massive geyser of pure magic had burst from the earth.
Something within her took over, and without another moment of hesitation, Fossil Fuel reached out and touched the roaring geyser. She felt the powers of the Earth and Undead elements flow through her, and immediately knew she had to find the Giga-Geyser. There would always be someone else to clean the museum floors, but nobody else could be the Earth & Undead Dual-Wielder.
SPRAY PAIN
"Ink or sink!"
While better known for their street art than their combat skills, the once-anonymous Spray Pain is still a force on the battlefield, using their own ink collected in spray cans as a deadly weapon.

For years, Spray Pain was a name that was as famous as it was mysterious. Nobody knew who they were, but everyone knew their art as it appeared out of nowhere on walls from Woodburrow to Rumbletown, with no trace of who did it aside from the distinctive stencilled style and strange black paint that seemed to be made from Mermasquid ink.
One night, Spray Pain was painting a stencil on the walls of Cyclops City, when a massive magical geyser erupted from the royal menagerie, destroying the animal enclosures and setting the creatures within loose upon the city. Citizens were panicking, guards were fruitlessly trying to fend off the horde of animals, and Spray Pain had to make a choice. They could disappear in the carnage, staying safe and secret but leaving Cyclops City to fend for itself, or they could sacrifice their anonymity and try to save the city.
Running was tempting, but they knew what they had to do. Spray Pain leapt into action, subduing the animals with cans upon cans of paint, turning the streets of Cyclops City into a strange abstract canvas. Their identity was no longer a secret, but at least the city was saved. It was then that the spirit of the geyser emerged, and offered Spray Pain control over the Water and Tech elements if they became a Dual-Wielder. Realising they needed a change of career now, Spray Pain accepted.
HOODWINK
"Watch out!"
Straight out of a millennia-old tomb, Hoodwink makes ancient magic look easy in combat. The modern world has a lot of things that are new to him, like ‘robots’ and ‘the Skylanders’ and ‘updog,’ but he’s getting used to it.

Hoodwink was a well-respected oracle in an ancient Cyclops society… until he died of an unknown illness, which made it a bit hard for him to perform his oracle duties. He was given an elaborate burial in a fancy tomb, and spent the next several thousand years in there having a presumably great time being dead.
His eternal rest ended up not being very eternal at all when a geyser erupted beneath him and he opened his eye for the first time in millennia, seeing a bright blue sky instead of the ceiling of his tomb. As Hoodwink looked around, he noticed a very panicked geyser spirit apologising profusely to him. The spirit explained to Hoodwink that he now had the ability to control both the Magic and Undead elements, and told him to go seek out a group calling themselves the Dual-Wielders.
More confused than anything, Hoodwink set out on this quest, which fortunately wasn’t too difficult - he pretty quickly ran into some of the Dual-Wielders, who were on their way to the very geyser that had disturbed his slumber.

FROSTFIRE
"Just monkeying around!"
With her contrarian tendencies and unfriendly attitude, Frostfire annoys her teammates as much as she does her enemies. This rebellious monkey seems to handle the important things with seemingly as little care as possible, and only takes frivolous matters seriously. But don’t assume that this makes him useless – even if it looks like he’s goofing off, he’s brutal with his fire and ice batons and cares more than you might think.
ATMOSPHERE
"Reach for the stars!"
After watching the goings-on of Skylands from way up in the sky for centuries, Atmosphere is ready to bring some low-gravity action to the Dual-Wielders. Their dragonbreath (or wyrmbreath, more accurately) is out of this world, and their black hole powers are sure to suck you in! It’s also a great stargazing partner, if you’re on friendly terms with it.
GEAR-GOYLE
"All gear, no fear!"
The immovable object of the Dual-Wielders, Gear-Goyle’s stony skin and high-tech armour make her a defensive powerhouse. Don’t forget Mechan either, the chatty and bitey robot on Gear-Goyle’s tail. Together, they make a team that’s hard to beat, and with Mechan’s help, Gear-Goyle might even make more than one successful machine someday…

these guys are the first of the new skylanders i've designed.

SPRITE KNIGHT
"Fighting for what's sprite!"
Sprite Knight was only created recently, and while she may not know much about the world, she's always curious and ready to learn. She's also always ready to beat up some bad guys with her powerful claws and Arkeyan laser!

There exists a forgotten island in an unmemorable part of Skylands, where the ground is covered in the deactivated remains of countless Arkeyans. However, this island stopped being forgotten when a magical geyser erupted from it, which was quickly noticed by a gang of Drow thieves. With nobody around to defend it, the geyser was easily taken over by the thieves.
But the spirit of the geyser had a trick up its (metaphorical) sleeve. It created a being of pure magic and fashioned a set of armour out of the ruined Arkeyans. And so, Sprite Knight was born! She immediately fired up her laser and decimated the Drow thieves. She then left the lonely island, and it wasn't long before she found the Dual-Wielders and joined their ranks.
MALADY
"Feeling under the weather?"
Though he looks creepy, Malady is a true gentleman and an expert in the field of medicine. His impeccable politeness and extensive knowledge make him a skilled and trustworthy doctor. Don't let that fool you, though - Malady can just as easily use his medical knowledge to fight evil.

Ever since he was a hatchling, Malady had always been the odd one out. His small wings meant he couldn’t fly as well as his nestmates, and he couldn’t hunt as well as them either. While his siblings were doing flashy aerial tricks, Malady was in his village’s library or on the ground, learning everything he could about plants and medicine in both theory and practice.
Malady’s mastery of medicine came in handy whenever illness or injury struck the people of his village, but his reputation as a weird and spooky fellow meant that he lived at the edge of town, and the other villagers only came to him when his services were needed. Not that he minded that much – the peace and quiet was good for further study (well, maybe it did get a little bit lonely at times…).
One day, as Malady was gathering herbs, he found a creature he had never seen before lying unconscious in a clearing. He wasn’t exactly sure what it was, but it was obviously injured, so he took it back to his house and tended to its wounds as he would anyone else.
It turned out the creature was a spirit that had come from a geyser that had recently appeared nearby. It had gotten attacked by the hostile wildlife and received serious injuries. Eternally grateful to Malady for healing it, the geyser spirit made him a Dual-Wielder, giving him Undead and Air abilities.
GLASSILISK
"Shatter and scatter!"
Fierce, brave and maybe a bit reckless, Glassilisk puts his glass-based abilities to good use on the battlefield. There's only one thing this lizard loves more than the adrenaline rush of combat, and that's basking in the sun on a warm afternoon.

Shattershard Island is a beautiful tropical island with a massive volcano at its centre, populated by all kinds of critters made of living volcanic glass. It was a peaceful beachside paradise, which was fortunate for the fragile glass animals that called it home (since they were already prone to shattering even without any conflict).
This wouldn’t last, though, as one day a magical geyser erupted from the volcano’s crater instead of the usual lava. Immediately, this caught the attention of some filthy Trolls, who ruined the glittering beaches of Shattershard Island with their pollution-spewing machinery as they took over the geyser. The glass animals were too meek and fragile to fight back, afraid that they’d break in a single hit… all except for Glassilisk. He charged headlong into battle against the Trolls without a thought for his own safety. Seeing his bravery, the other glass animals found the courage to enter the fray themselves, and a huge battle began.
Once the smoke had cleared, the inhabitants of Shattershard Island could breathe a sigh of relief – they’d successfully fought off the Trolls. But in his recklessness, Glassilisk’s tail and one of his legs had broken off. Just as he had gotten a taste for battle, his career as a warrior seemed to be over.
It was then that the spirit of the geyser approached Glassilisk. It thanked him for his heroics, and gave him an offer: It would give him the power to use the Earth and Fire elements, which would not only make him a stronger fighter, but let him grow new glass limbs… If he went on a difficult journey to locate and protect the Giga-Geyser. Glassilisk accepted without hesitation, and became an official Dual-Wielder not long after.

link, zelda and ganondorf from my zelda au, messengers of the past
basically, it's a long time after spirit tracks and 'old' hyrule has undrowned itself (idk why, just for funsies i guess). link, zelda and ganon hear of some terrible prophecy and try to stop it with the triforce. something like that.
link is from tetrana (which is just new hyrule but renamed so it doesn't get confusing). he's a postal worker who's been sent to hyrule to expand the tetrana postal service.
zelda is the princess of hyrule, but she ditches her studies a lot. she doesn't think she'd make a good ruler.
ganon is an outcast from gerudo society. they believe that as a male gerudo, he's cursed to become a force of evil, so he and his mother were forced to live alone in the desert.
