Perhaps a slightly obscure AU idea for JATD, but I was rewatchcing Ice Princess and I started to think, Ice Skating AU for JATD??
Jane and Gunther on competing teams
Magnus being one of those father’s that pushes his son to the limits (he needs him to win, for reputation and money obviously)
Adeline being one of those mother’s that pushes Jane to the limits (not for the money or reputation though, but because she wants to see Jane succeed)
Jane and Gunther ultimately bond over that
Oh! Oh! One competition, Gunther is forced by his father to sabotage Jane and this causes her to explode at him, obviously, because he wins unfairly and stuff
Smithy’s obviously the local zamboni bro. Oh and skate fixer
Jester, Lavina, and Cuthbert are all a part of the team Jane’s on
Gwendolyn and Caradoc are the owners of the rink they practice at
Sir Theodore as the trainer, which I know sounds odd, but tbh he’d be elegant on the ice
Not sure where Sir Ivon sits in all this
Dragon is now Jane’s pet dog
Pepper still does the food at the rink obviously, but every now and then she gets on the ice
Rake’s position is also unknown at this point, but he’ll get something I’m sure
Gunther eventually quiting and joining Jane’s rink
Or even, better yet, both Jane and Gunther rebelling against each of their parents and just outright quitting the day before a big competition. Magnus and Adeline are both mad respectively
There’s actually so many idea that could grow from this like omg

We have ourselves a double decker duo for both Tummy Tuesday and Tighty Whitie Tuesday with Sir Ivon MacKay and Magnus The Merchant, both from the show Jane And The Dragon. Their underwear could technically count as tighty whities, even though they are loincloth.

Dragonblade Deep Dive - Chapter Thirteen
Chapter Twelve
Chapter Thirteen – Pledge Brothers
Be advised that quotation marks are a real struggle in this chapter.
A shockingly refreshing moment of insight from Jane, wherein she acknowledges she is not responsible for Jester’s feelings for her or his resulting depressive state. I am astounded.
Pepper finishes tending to Robert’s injuries and moves on to feeding him, and Robert compliments him with a “warm, genuine smile” which “touches everyone gathered in the kitchen”. Gag, there goes my appetite. Nothing like universal adoration for an abusive predator to put me off my crumpets.
Theodore summons Jane. You may recall he was staggeringly drunk about 10 minutes ago. Well, bottle that miracle tonic, he’s perfectly sober now.
Lavinia announces she is going to check on the “pig egg”. Believe it or not, this is important later.
Jane and Theodore head to the throne room, where they have a conversation about comfort and discomfort, dreams and destiny. Sometimes I think the author *cough* Sir Theodore just likes hearing the sound of his own voice. He tells Jane a tale of time spent in a dungeon with Haroldus, Robert’s father, and an unnamed fourth man. Sir Theodore says this happened around 40 years ago, so already the maths doesn’t add up with Haroldus being not-yet-50 now. How was he an imprisoned “young adventurer for hire” scheduled for execution at less than 10-years-old?? Theodore’s story has more holes than a colander, but let’s take it at face value. He is here in the kingdom, and has been training Jane, and Haroldus has been doing whatever he’s been doing, AND Robert’s inherited obsession with dragons that his father had developed, and his resulting unhinged behaviour ALL come down to some long-dead young man’s dying wish based on something he read once?
Honestly?
Moving on.
Gunther is looking for Jester. He hopes he’s not in the tavern getting drunk. He then follows this thought with “(Jester) wasn’t much of a drinker, except when he was taking solace.” Umm, not the reassurance you think it is.
He finds Jester in the stables and psychoanalyses him, before filling him in further on Magnus’ schemes.
There’s more about how Magnus plans for Gunther to be married to Lavinia in his bid to take over control of the kingdom, and how Gunther plans to prevent it.
When Jester points out that Magnus will be executed for treason, Gunther has no issue with that, and in fact lists several benefits, including avenging his late mother. Has Gunther learned of his mother’s death, or just assumed it is so? We’ll probably never be told.
They talk about Lavinia, and Gunther points out that he’s not responsible for any confused feelings she may have, but he will have saved her from a twisted and loveless marriage to himself in which she will be used as a pawn for Magnus to control her kingdom. But you know, this makes Gunther heartless in Jester’s opinion. Because of course.
And now the conversation turns to Robert. Jester asks if he is one of Lavinia’s potential suitors (?!?!) Gunther says the man with the “pigtails and brooding eyes” is “far more handsome” than any of the portraits. Good grief. He asks Jester what he knows, and then pretends he and Jester are talking about something else when he hears Theodore approaching.
Theodore tells him to go babysit the drunk guests in the cellar. At this stage that’s Haroldus, right? Who else? Ivon will be there too, and Gunther is to let him do the drinking, while Gunther does the watching. It seems Theodore isn’t worried about what Gunther might hear. Interesting.
Theodore then asks Jester for his “wise council” and all three depart.
Lavinia’s presence in the hayloft is then revealed to the reader, where she has overheard everything and her world is losing all of its colour, apparently.
End chapter.
Overall impressions:
Theodore’s story/explanation/justification was a total stretch from start to finish, and doesn’t paint him or his motivations for anything in a very flattering light.
Gunther has a solution to Magnus’ frankly vile schemes which will save the Kingdom and Lavinia, and Jester’s first concern is for Magnus’ wellbeing??
How does Magnus’ plan make sense anyway, has he forgotten that Cuthbert is first in line to the throne and Gunther won’t become king by marrying Lavinia? Or is regicide also on his to-do list?
What wise counsel is Theodore seeking from Jester? For everyone’s sake I hope he’s not giving him any information about Jane.
Time passed since start of novel: day two, the never ending afternoon
Number of quotation mark abuses in this chapter: too many to count

Soo because I’m a history nerd and such and my fave time period is Revolutionary war I have an Jane and the Dragon au for this
. Jane is like Debra Sampson and has to hide her identity because of the times back then in order to join the military
.Gunther is like General Washington and Jane is his aid de camp like Hamilton and Lafayette
.Jane names her horse dragon and is very fitting
.Just like Debra Sampson Jane dilivers top secret information and missions to sir Ivon and Theodore who are also generals but for another camp opposite of Gunther
.Magnus is apart of the British but Gunther no longer agrees with the British and their rule Gunther betrays Magnus and loses his father’s respect but Gunther doesn’t care.
Idk where Gwendolyn, Caradoc and the rest of the Royal family fit
.Smithy is the camps blacksmith still keeping his same trait
.Pepper besides being the camps cook also helps the wounded
.Rake is now in the drum corp (idk why I think he would actually be really good at that)
.Jester I feel would be kinda like James and Sarah from Libertys kids writing down everything that happens and when they win battles write victory shanty’s or tunes
That’s all I have right now I hope I have more soon

She still needs to stop hovering lol
I could feel Marita’s eyes rolling from here just seeing Antonia
I agree with the son, she’s not out of tune >:)

I do that kind of ranking in my head when it comes to auditions though
Ayyyyy what are you doing sir….
Gabi’s smile :)
Oh she wasn’t auditioning, she was practicing the dance she’s leading them in lol
This is the part of the audition that I’d utterly fail as I totally lack dance skills
Sandra and Ivone get a thumbs up from me
Nora vs Antonia
We are not shocked that Marita would work against Antonia
Sandra getting close to a guy that would definitely treat her right >
Hopefully her sucky dude doesn’t hurt Jorge
Emídio is already way up there in the hate tier with Benicio
Antonia has the worst luck lol

Re-Watch Review: Jester Justice (Jane and the Dragon)
I guess I can’t say I’m a fan of Jane and the Dragon if I rarely post anything related to the show 🤷🏻‍♀️ Might as well do another Re-watch Review to maintain my ”Fangirl” status.
Jester Justice
Tumblr media
Summary: Sir Ivon challenges Jester to a duel after a joke cruelly embarrasses the knight. Knowing that Jester can never beat him through martial prowess, Jane and Jester seek for ways to give Jester an advantage. Meanwhile, Rake struggles to tell Pepper that her new soup recipe tastes awful.
Positive Aspects
Pepper and Rake’s subplot is so sweet! This episode sets up the Rake x Pepper ship well, as the audience gushes over their cute interactions. They certainly are a match made in heaven!
Negative Aspects
I didn’t like how the show lets Jester get away with hurting Sir Ivon’s feelings. This is one of those episodes that set Jester up as a Gary Stu, as the story sets Jester up as clever at the expense of Sir Ivon’s dignity. It could be that the message of the story was ”don’t judge people’s abilities that are different” but the narrative encourages us to do that to the antagonist.
Spoilers: What really gets my goat is that Jester supposedly apologizes for hurting Sir Ivon’s feelings with his insults, but then turns around and continues making verbal jabs at the knight. If the main conflict is Jester demeaned someone’s dignity, the solution shouldn’t be further humiliation of that person.
Overall Opinion
The story would have been better served if there were a lesson for both Jester and Sir Ivon. Jester should have learned to be more considerate in his jesting, while Sir Ivon could have learned that he didn’t need to take himself so seriously.
Rake and Pepper’s story was the episode’s saving grace. However, the conflicting messaging about dealing with other people’s feelings makes me lowkey hate this episode (minus the Rake/Pepper).
But that’s my analysis. Perhaps you have a different opinion? Let me know in the comments or reblogs!

I love the supportive message in your open letter! But while I can tell part of it is obviously referring to Robert, I'm a little confused on who some of the other parts are referring too. You're not a bad writer or anything, I just have unclear memories of some characters actions. If you could clarify a little, that would be great!
No worries, it’s probably not super clear (or grammatically correct) because I was pretty steamed while writing it, haha.
Here there be Dragonblade spoilers:
The first section refers to Robert who is just such an awful and disturbing character to me. He literally reads like a cautionary tale about how predatory men behave. He’s 24, Jane is 16 and he has fallen in love with her within what? 24 hours?? of meeting her, after luring her alone into a cave, and then relishing her discomfort when he tells her this? And we’re supposed to LIKE this character???
The second section refers to Jester, who has been done so dirty it hurts. He has been an unbalanced, irrational mess since Jane first left with Dragon on patrol. Apparently this is his usual emotional state whenever she leaves the castle. After deciding she was in danger he became determined to help her, which while a noble effort for him, was apparently an unnatural response from Gunther. So then he became determined to find out what could possess Gunther to want to help his friend and colleague Jane, since Jester was convinced he must have an ulterior motive. When he finally drags it out of Gunther that the young knight cares about Jane, Jester is so shaken, so disturbed, so confused that he GOES TO THE TAVERN to drink and work out what motive Gunther could possibly have, since loving Jane for who she is is apparently such a disturbing concept to him, despite claiming to love her himself. At this point all intentions of helping Jane have vanished. He also expresses zero concern for Lavinia (his charge and pupil) after Gunther shares some of his Father’s plans.
After his drink at the pub, Jester decides that the only logical thing is to break into Jane’s room and search through her private space and possessions on the pretext of ‘maybe she left a note!’ despite already having checked the notice boards in the stables and the knights’ quarters, where it would actually make sense for said note to have been left. We already know how much Jane values her private space because we’ve been told how she gave up on staying in the knights’ quarters in preference (and with barely concealed relief!) for her own room. But Jester violates Jane’s sanctum, and as he rifles through her possessions, eavesdrops on the private conversation between Sir Theodore and Dragon.
Upon learning where Jane is, Jester breaks down in tears, not because she is alive and well, not because she is in unknown danger at the mercy of a mysterious stranger, but because Dragon thinks said stranger fancies Jane. Jester has been tipped over the edge because people other than him are attracted to or admire Jane, and that concept bewilders and devastates him, and completely overrides his concern for the actual safety or wellbeing of Jane herself.
Section three is in reference to the fact that, according to the author (and there are some answers from the most recent Q&A referenced here,) Jester, Gunther, Smithy, Robert (and Dragon?!?!) are all enamoured of Jane, and her self-defence against this is to appear prickly and unapproachable.
Throughout this novel, every fact or technique Jane employs is quickly explained as having been learned from the men in her life. All of her knowledge is just a repetition of something Theodore, Ivon, Jester or Gunther have told her. This is ALWAYS reiterated. For everything else, she must stumble around blindly while Robert drip feeds her information as he chips away at her self-confidence and manipulates her into doing what he wants. She is lusted after by almost every male within a decade of her age who she interacts with “on screen”, and their relentless feelings for her have altered who she is as a person.
She has been reduced to a mouthpiece and/or object of desire for the men in her life, while every adult woman (all two of them!) in her immediate circle disapproves of her. Even the queen is no longer one of her supporters.
It is a massive disappointment.

Pt two of things my professor for theatre has said but make it Jane and the Dragon
Magnus: *When teaching Gunther about family business* Because Money!
Sir Ivon: uses Motherfo instead of saying the whole word in front of Gunther or Jane cause age.
Bonus for sir Ivon: You know when you have that one tutor and he just keeps talking but won’t say anything. Just like when you take a class with me
Sir Theodore: If your mother has seen what I put you through training. Don’t you think she wouldn’t care with how you cope with it.
King Caradoc: *In a letter* I’m sorry Jane but you can’t have an office party with Gunther and Sir Theodore as he shall be late for practice
Queen Gwendolyn: just a lot of sighs and looking at Cardoc when something stupid comes out of his mouth like “wtf”
