Some things, Samus got from the Chozo. But some things were there from the start. I'm just picturing the moment she learned to walk, Rodney and Virginia had one hell of a time keeping an eye on her to keep her from getting into places she shouldn't, especially since she could be surprisingly adept at finding small spaces to squeeze through. Probably a big climber too. By the time of the attack, she knew most of the forest near the K2L colony like the back of her hand, and had begun taking some early unauthorized expeditions into the foothills and gulleys beyond. She also remained thoroughly unrepentant on returning from going missing for several hours at a time, and her parents were deeply torn between not wanting to suppress a clear wanderer's spirit, and natural worry for their daughter getting hurt out in the wilderness where they couldn't find her. Unfortunately, they never got the chance to find a good compromise.

Lomion and Idril designs for the reverse gondolin au

au-verse maeglin (lomion) is argons kid adopted by aredhel (shes the exact opposite of a helicopter parent- she'll be like 'bye son im going hunting with celegorm, if you need anything ask uncle fingon!', so really, raising lomion was more of a group effort)

this idril was a bit younger on the helcaraxe, so she was still a kid when they got kidnapped. she doesnt get the name celebrindal until much later because no silver feet until she gets to gondolin (she made herself crutches out of eols dining room chairs)

lomion is much better socialized than maeglin, having grown up somewhat normally in nevrast & gondolin. hes still a smith (mentored by rog instead of eol, and therefore much less inclined to evil sentient weaponry) and is good friends (and rivals) with celebrimbor. growing up his major male role model was celegorm (who hung around gondolin a lot despite not technically living there) instead of eol, so he still has issues but not Capital I Issues. he has a tendency to attach himself to people (possibly stemming from helcaraxe trauma?) and is very violently protective of his friends/family

a large amount of time I've been spending on -untitled undefined scope original fiction project- since the last time I posted about it has been trying to develop the protagonist concept I came up with last summer or whatever into like, a character that would feel real and era appropriate.

it's fun research to do. naturally a lot of the details I assigned to her are things that I already think are cool, so it's been a lot of fun trying to trace her traits back through the relatively recent past, getting reminded of how much things have changed, or where the gaps in my intuition are, and then doing a flurry of reading to get a sense for exactly how someone like her and the people around her could have happened and what her life was probably like leading up to her present day. hopefully this results in some good good verisimilitude.

#I wrote a short story from her perspective over the holidays and then didn't know how to continue it #and then I got distracted by real life stuff for a few months #I forget if I posted about that #and then I've been picking through archive dot org for the last few weeks looking at this stuff #the last big rabbit hole was trying to get a better feel for era appropriate ts/tv subculture #the current one I'm looking at is how she would've gotten into language learning and how that would've worked #nettle has been prodding me about the setting thing lately so I've been thinking about that more too #probably the biggest hurdle by far is figuring out how I want to play that #and how I want the thing to be divided up #since the original coc scenario I'm developing this out of is centered on a flight from LA to honolulu #and the airport dungeon was definitely meant to be a hook for a larger campaign #some amount of it is going to cover protag lady's failed life in LA and some of it is going to be worse things happening in hawaii #but it's like. how much do I want to balance it one way or the other #and realistically how much does the aesthetics of 20th century air travel add to the story #besides me personally thinking it's compelling ofc #a lot of what I find compelling about hawaii is that it's an east/west cultural crossroads and realistically that's also true of socal #and I can wax poetic about socal as much as I want without worrying all that much about mishandling something #and there's also a lot of socal specific history along similar parallels to pull from that I'm more familiar with #I guess it comes down to whether curiosity re: 'doing it right' is enough of a motivator to do the increased amount of research #which I guess it has so far with the above character details. so hopefully that will continue #but it also feels like using machine translation a bit yknow. it's hard to know how effectively I'll be able to sanity check #although depending on where this goes I might be able to get other people involved to sensitivity read down the line #with most of the creative things I do I just have a tendency to always rely really heavily on figuring things out myself #I also want protag lady to have a Cool Car and idk how to get that from point a to point b narratively #this is like an entire second or third post's worth of tags but I don't feel like unfucking this so whatever. suffer. I guess.

on one hand, it's kinda unfortunate that the very first time hera ever says minkowski's name in the show she mispronounces it the way eiffel does, and it's obviously one of those early series growing pains type things. however. on the other hand. it exists in the show and in-universe it becomes one of those "spending too much time with eiffel" things instead. he got in her head. after being the primary person she's been speaking to for hundreds of days by that point, something like that was bound to happen eventually.

#wolf 359 #w359 #doug eiffel #hera wolf 359 #there's so much intentionality with names and who calls who what. when and why. that sure is a sentence #that those early parts of the show where things. aren't as careful. end up having other implications they weren't really meant to have #gabriel urbina has said so many times that he wishes that line in ep 13 was the first time minkowski called eiffel 'doug'. yeah. i get it.#and then you have... i don't think this with hera and minkowski is really that meaningful in terms of their relationship #but it is an interesting mistake in that. since eiffel is the only one who mispronounces minkowski's name and he doubled down on that #out of disrespect.#it does kinda like strangely work in how it accidentally aligns hera with eiffel. though she would never do that to minkowski on purpose #i think after a certain point it's just habit for eiffel but it's definitely. something. that you can tell how much respect he's showing #at any given moment through most of the show just by whether he calls her 'minkowski' (mispronounced) or 'commander'#and then of course you have hera calling eiffel 'doug' in am i alone now and then never again and never to his face. which.#someday i'll figure out how to express how i feel about that.

Anyway I feel like it kinda gets glossed over that Knives was a child when he caused the big fall and idk I think that's kind of important because he's lived with that for over 100 years and just like Vash has lived with knowing the people he loves and fights for don't see him or his kind as anything more than a tool at best or a monster at worst, Knives has most definitely lived with knowing he's the leading reason why this system has remained in place

SELF-CONCEPT

VIEW OF SELF: highly upheld on a pedestal created by her late tribe and the hierarchy of Fell Churches. though clouded by a heavy sense of superiority, there is the slightest chance of self-awareness from her, though it is an introspection that takes time. what is important to her is that she, above anyone else, knows her heart and mind. no one else can claim to relate to all she has lived through and she knows this; though the level of tragedy she connects this with is debatable. likewise, her view of self is duller than her view of others, as she truly does not care for herself at her core. this is not self-deprecation, rather it is the monotonous feeling that comes from knowing that, at the end of the day, she is what her tribe and Sombron have made of her. there is nothing else and nothing more.

VIEW OF OTHERS: hardly memorable. unlike her, time will pass for them and they will die, so their only purpose is to serve until their last breath. will she remember their names? hardly, but the impact they have will outlive their body. as a direct result of her behavioral inconsistencies and traumas, she alienates herself from society and, thus, does not view humanity and other immortal beings in any positive light. they are only useful under a leash. they are only useful if they can be wielded as pawns. if they stray from their fated path, then they must be punished. it is as much a law as it is instinct. either way, none of them will equate to the space necessary in the void of her heart; what she needs is a family, and other people cannot give this to her.

VIEW OF WORLD: unforgiving. selfish. the world is cruel to those who surpass their fate and, thus, she bares her teeth and takes as much from the world as she thinks she deserves; which is everything it has to offer. in her eyes, the world is ever-changing and will not wait for you to mend your wounds, no matter how closely you hold it at heart. you will not survive if you are not the aggressor. her environment taught her that pain is love and such love, one strong enough to destroy what it has created, is punishment, in its own way. to love was to hurt until you knew nothing else; to grieve was to love with all your heart. if you sought love then you had to seek the pain that is obligated with it upon your faults. thus, all relationships of value between her and the world were, and will always be, transactional.

MOTIVATIONS & GOALS: serve as Lord Sombron's greatest follower until he sees her as fit to be the mother of his child. whether it be one or plenty, she hopes to bear them and give fruit to lives of her blood. upon birth, they are hers, as a mother and idol and god. and that, the idea that, one day, someone she brought into the world will revolve that very world around her, is what keeps her focused on the future. but somewhere, along the line, another motivation has formed upon her arrival; protect the Four Hounds and restore what they once were.

WHEY THEY VALUE MOST: family, both in the physical and metaphorical sense. the idea of having and taking from someone who owes you their entire life for giving fruit to theirs.

EMOTIONAL REACTIONS

REACTION TO STRESS: most, if not all, negative emotions end in her lashing out in an attempt to regain the control she once lost. so, when stressed, her composure falters; she becomes jittery, scheming, and distant. she'll refocus all of her energy on picking apart the stressor and, upon recognizing what it is, eliminating it without hesitation. this could mean directly destroying the stressor or completing it, but whichever it is, she does not ignore it. it, also, does not matter what this stress comes from; whether it be a responsibility, environment, or person. the execution, however, of this determination is usually heartless and selfish, as she will go through anything and anyone to calm the nerves of her heart.

REACTION TO FEAR: though fear, too, is a negative emotion, it does not necessarily end in an unwavering sense of hostility. to fear something is to think that it has the weight to actually affect you. and, thus, it is fine to say that fear isn't an emotion she's faced often in her thousand years of life. upon first face of this subject causing her fear, she's incredulous. confused or shocked, rather than frightful. but when the emotion sets in, she becomes quieter. curt. this silence is not submissive, lest it be in the face of Sombron. her following reaction will be to right what has been wronged; control. she will combat this fear with confrontation if the risks prove to be lesser, but she knows her limits and will not provoke the fear if it will bring her harm.

REACTION TO SUCCESS: to revel in her success is not rare. this is, usually, done in the form of taunting the losing party. however, her reaction to success differs between the success of herself and the success of those she deems as hers. for the former, she does not seek praise. it is not the acknowledgment she requires, as that is flawed and not taken at heart's value. if not from Sombron, then she does not want it. however, praise is what she requires when her pawns succeed. for them to win is a win for her, as it reinforces the greedy pride of being able to create something worth loving. otherwise, success, to her, is conditional and can always be revoked. it is not something worth celebrating by the masses. in fact, it could be argued that success makes her hungrier for the possible retaliation that will follow.

REACTION TO FAILURE: depends highly on who she fails regarding the event. in light of disappointing Sombron, her apologies are swift, curt, as there is nothing else to say. her willingness to right, again, what has been wronged is high and she will take no other answer unless she's given the other chance. there is no guilt, as she does not recognize such a feeling, but the feeling aches similarly. if in the case of failing herself, her reaction is duller. again, at her core, she has come to terms with the fate she's been given, so all she is to do is find her way back unto the path paved for her. she'll try again, more determined, but emotional reactions are little to none. she understands herself best and will right herself accordingly, aiming to engrain into her the teachings that made her who she is.

DEVELOPMENT

IDEAL SELF: is constantly changing, to the point where she cannot fully recognize where she, herself, wants to be. what amount of development would be enough? from whom would this development come from? all she knows is that the ideal life she sees fit for herself is that of a mother, as it was the only thing able to fill the void in her heart. key word: was. new events have shone a light on her ideals and hope to shift them. unfortunately, because of her lack of concern for who or what she becomes, as her fate will always be written before her, the exact ideal self is unknown.

AREAS OF GROWTH: as mentioned before, loneliness is still a factor she hopes to heal. being alienated from others, even dragons like herself, because of the behavior she adapted to in hopes of defending her heart will always prove her efforts futile. to grow requires the knowledge to understand exactly what is necessary beforehand. thus, her concept of what can heal her is false and flawed. it's simple and, if she does not recognize her emotions and pick apart the years of manipulation, all will be hopeless.

BARRIERS TO GROWTH: the inability to wear her heart anywhere that is not the steel bars of her ribcages; the continuous conquest of favor for Sombron; the inability to recognize how she has affected the world and vice versa; the inability to be truthful lest she fear bleeding out on the spot; and time wearing away at the familiarity she should have with her own emotions. there is a lot that stands as an obstacle to her development. none of it will disappear quickly, so she must approach it slowly and with patience.

She's absolutely adorable, very gap moe. Though it's hard to deny it's got some really strange choices with her coat and outfit. Mostly it's got her undershirt missing and her coat is tucked into her skirt like it's her main shirt.

Though it's a very cute model all the same, I'm wondering how it appears to be the only one I've seen since it gives me some "alternate outfit" energy. But it's really the only one I see.

But there have to be more out there. So, when taking into account my complete lack of knowledge on searching for MMD assets, I am performing the laziest Google image search I can manage. The reason being, that if my search is sufficiently lazy, it will be sufficiently clear I have very little idea what I'm even looking for.

It took me until now to realize that Aak buffing Ebenholz is actually way less efficient and impactful than just using Warfarin. I feel like it should have been obvious but in my defense I was high on the satisfaction of assembling a proper Buff Squad

#arknights #arknights ebenholz #you want Ebenholz to one-shot so the increased attack speed does nothing for him other than helping him build up charges #which in most situations you should already have fully built #it's very unlikely you'll ever find yourself in a situation where the increased speed makes a difference #and since Warfarin already has a higher damage multiplier not only is she easier to use she's straight up better #you could use both but that would be VERY cumbersome to set up and probably unnecessary... that said I am definitely gonna try using both #definitely unnecessary in 90% of situations but the numbers would be fun
