Today, on 23rd January, 1984 - Queen Story!

'Radio Ga Ga'/ 'I Go Crazy' released in the UK

The first single from the forthcoming "The Works" album

(first single with Queen’s own catalogue number)

🔹"John and Roger’s songs I sort of get in there at quite an early stage and they don’t mind me tearing things apart and piecing it back together again. Sometimes I even take the whole song over, like with – and I don’t mind saying it – Roger’s Radio Ga Ga.

I instantly felt that there was going to be something one could build into a really good strong and saleable commodity there.

And so he went on a skiing holiday for a week and I worked on it. But it’s basically his song. He had the ideas all together and I just felt that there were some construction elements that were wrong.

Can’t believe it was 40 years ago when Queen released this track.Written by John D. I had such a laugh on this shoot when they were all trying their wigs on and having their curlers and make up done. Queen were always ground breakers . Long live Queen.

Though an admirer, Simon (Fowler, of Ocean Colour Scene) admits he often sees red at the antics of Liam.

"Getting through to him is like breaking into Fort Knox. But there's a big difference between feeling angry and violence. "The first time I met Liam was in a pub in Brum. I ended up trying to split up a fight between Noel and Liam, but was unceremoniously told to mind my own business. But we'd have a drink if we met up again. The Gallaghers are what is on the tin. What you see is what you get."

🔸Brian May: “Freddie said, ‘Write me stuff. I know I don’t have very long. Keep writing me words, keep giving me things – I will sing, and then you can do what you like afterwards and finish it off.”

🔸Producer Dave Richards added: “He was dying when he did those songs, and he knew he would be dead when they were finished because he said to me, ‘I’m going to sing it now because I can’t wait for them to do music on this. Give me a drum machine and they’ll finish it off.'”
