Spoiler: it definitely was NOT, and he remade it like four times from scratch. The first few versions were free, which I played, and was never terribly impressed by. Eventually the final remake version was put behind a paywall on Patreon for $15 supporters.

I remember playing version 3 and noticing right off the bat that the scale of everything in the map was wrong. Your character felt like they were seven feet tall. In fact... thanks to my pack rat nature, I never deleted the screenshots I took in 2019:

It always bugged me he had the balls to start putting this behind a paywall, because even if Konami sucks, fan game development is not a job you get paid for doing. Especially not when you're claiming to be a "perfect 1:1 recreation" of something and I can tell you messed up almost from frame one. And on the third version, no less.

Presumably he left Blooper Team about the time they entered talks with Konami to remake Silent Hill 2 since I imagine Konami would be FURIOUS if they found out someone at Blooper was selling a "P.T. Emulator".

The fact this dude tried to sell a Silent Hills fan game, stumbled his way out of a studio that got signed to make an official Silent Hill game, and the end result is he put out an asset flip and then threw thousands of dollars at Youtube brand deals?

So I originally wrote up a response to your question that was, while still largely negative, more calm but then tumblr decided "Oops, that didn't work" and threw away the shit I spent thirty minutes typing up, which has now made the bad mood I was already in worse. so I'm just gonna use this question to vomit poison and bile onto Konami. I hope that's ok. None of this is going towards you Johnlocsin.

I don't think any of the brainless fuckwits down in the hovel that Konami has become knows a single thing about video games. Just in general. I think that entire company is full of a bunch of bumbling buisness major cunts who only give a shit about money and would sacrifice their own children if it gave them an extra 62 cents. I think anything they've put out since they ousted Kojima from his own fucking franchise has been trash and will continue to be trash until every single person in the company is fired and the physical locations are set on fire, along with every single pachinko machine in existence.

I think Blooper Team, the fucking clowns heading the Silent Hill 2 remake, are hopeless and will bungle this remake like the last few companies who remade these games for modern consoles have before them (special shoutout to the HD collection in 2012 for being a notable hunk of trash but this has happened before, has happened for Metal Gear too, aswell as any game franchise Konami still has its dragon talons clamped down on). Blooper Team are the numbskulls responsible for Layers of Fear and The Medium, who's apparent messages appear to be that the mentally ill are burdens who will infect your brain with their mental illness. I wouldn't know, I haven't played The Medium, I don't think anyone has played The Medium, and all I remember about Layers is that clip of Nyanners losing her shit at that baby who face planted a wall.

Now, usually, that shouldn't matter since they're just remaking Silent Hill 2 for a new audience, which usually entails just polishing the graphics and moving the game to a new system. The story shouldn't be affected. But, like I've seid previously and will continue to say, Konami is a trashcan held together by gum and reused duct tape so I don't particularly have faith in them to not hand some form of creative control over to Blunder Team. I don't have faith in any of the sentient chunks of shit heading that company to look over any of its development. I don't have faith in anyone involved and will be suprised if the game isn't made entirely with free Roblox assets. If this remake doesn't brick consoles on startup I'll count that as a win.

I know nothing about Townfall or Ascension, I know little about Silent Hill f other then it's written by the person who made Higurashi Umineko which I know nothing about and have no emotional investment in (yet. Maybe thatll change idk), and I don't care. I just don't. The Silent Hill games stop at 4 for me, Konami hasn't extended the superficial "care" most AAA companies extend the games that made them AAA in the first place to their flagship franchises for decades, why are these four trash games any different at this point.

They're all gonna be rushed to completion, made through brutal crunches despite being made by completely different companies, they're gonna turn out to be buggy messy trite that couldn't hope to run on anything stronger then a NASA supercomputer, they're gonna be saddled with bullshit in-game currency and segmented into episodes that each cost $60 each, it's gonna suck. All four are gonna suck. It's not even worth getting mad about anything Konami does at this point which is why I'm mad at myself for even doing so here.

Burn it all to the fucking ground, pirate all of these games. Play DbD if you need your fix of Pyramid Head.

TBH, I'd rather have Blooper team deal with a remake of Silent Hill, than see what an "original" Blooper team SH would look like. Best case scenario, their remake is faithful and they add nothing new, just updated graphics and minor tweaks. But, I have a feeling that Blooper team will add their own ideas into SH2, and considering some of the topics SH2 deals with, and how Blooper team games deal with said topics, it's... not going to be great.

Any faith in the Silent Hill projects sticking the landing?

I'm the most curious about Silent Hill f, because I've had different layers of friends and acquaintances over the years get into Ryukishi07's visual novels (Higurashi, Umineko) and all of them universally become total sickos for his work. All of them fall utterly in love with those games.

I want to see what that guy does when turned loose with something like Silent Hill. Seems like he's very good at extremely complex, extremely strange concepts with lots of fun and weird characters. Could be very interesting if Konami truly lets the freak flag fly.

The rest? No. Silent Hill Ascension already sounds like a repeated disaster. Nothing Blooper Team has shown me of their Silent Hill 2 remake sounds like it's being delicate or respectful enough to that game's subject matter, and I know of some extremely vocal people who are outright against their involvement at all.

The movie could be interesting, I guess. The second Silent Hill movie was total garbage, but that first Silent Hill movie by Christopher Gans was sort of okay-ish, and he's the one coming back to direct the third movie.

I don't know enough about Silent Hill Townfall to say one way or the other, but I think it's fair to take a "guilty until proven innocent" stance with that one for now.
