I know a regular season is 2 books, but I feel like season 4 is at least 3 or 4 books. There is so much going on... and then at the same time we spent 4 episodes figuring out the succession in Mercia. That honestly did not need to take that long. Yes, that's intercut with Brida and then Sigtrygger in Wealas, but in the end it only leaves us with 2 episodes to deal with the invasion of Wessex and siege of Winchester. I don't know if that's bad writing or further proof that Sigtrygger is truly the millennial of Danes, coming in even though he doesn't want to be here and getting shit done with only half the resources of his predecessors.

note. I got this cute idea when I was watching kitchen nightmares, weird right? i really want to write more for other characters, just need some suggestions 👩🏻💻 this is kinda short, but it’s sweet. Maybe I’ll make a part 2 in the future!
☆ UHTRED
laying his head on your chest
Uhtred loves laying his head on your chest, for multiple reasons. One, because it's very comfortable, being able to lay down and just close his eyes, feeling your warmth. The second reason is because he loves being able to hear the soothing beat of your heartbeat. He has lost so many people that he's loved in his life, so being able to have you close to him and knowing that you're there, that you're safe…that you're alive. It's very special to him. The two of you don't even have to talk, just lay in silence; in bliss in the bed, you two shares. It's very intimate.
☆ FINAN
cuddling
Finan absolutely loves cuddling with you, he loves how close it makes the two of you become. It doesn't matter what position, as long as the two of you are as close as you can be, he's fine with it. Finan doesn't mind showing some public affection but the two of you mostly cuddle at home, in bed or his favorite place, the soft fur rug in front of the fireplace. Finan’s favorite part of his day is when the two of you wind down, and cuddle on the rug in front of the fire, drinking some ale and talking about your days. Sometimes he would even interrupt you to place a few kisses on your skin that was illuminated by the fire. It was peaceful, it was warm.
☆ SIHTRIC
hugging you close
It was hard for sihtric to really find his favorite physical touch, there all his favorites. But the more he thought about it, he realized that hugging you was his favorite. He hugged you when he was sad, when he was upset, when he was happy. He loved hugging you; he loved being able to pull you close and wrap his arms around you. He loved the smile that would spread across your lips when he pulled you close to him, or how flustered and shy you would get when he would lean to whisper flirty comments in your ear. Either it was hugging you from behind or the front, he loved it. He also hugged you and left a kiss on your forehead before he would have to leave (and ofc a breathtaking kiss). There was just something about hugging you that gets him going.
☆ OSFERTH
resting his head on you
Osferth is a shy boy, at first that is. He was too shy to show public affection towards you around others, so he left all that for when the two of you were alone. But he started noticing something that he did in public and private without realizing, and that had quickly become his favorite thing to do. And that was resting his head on you. When the two of you sat next to each other, he would rest his head on your shoulder and watch your side profile, taking in every detail about you that he could. He also liked resting his head in your lap, looking up at you or the sky, listening to you talk or just quietly relaxing to the feeling of you playing with his hair. He loved it so much; it was just so comforting to be like this with you.
☆ SIGTRYGGR
kissing you
Okay, Sigtryggr is a very touchy lover, so it's hard to pick just one. But thinking about it more, he realizes that kissing you is his favorite physical touch. He does it quite a lot, like a lot. In the mornings he wakes you up by placing soft kisses all over your face and neck, he loves the way your nose scrunches in confusion and your eyes flutter open, only too sleepily smile when you realize what's happening. You would lose count with how many times he would kiss you through the day, on the lips, on the cheek and even on your hand. He likes to surprise you and kiss you on the cheek, alerting you of his presence. He likes grabbing your hand in his and kissing it gently as he keeps his eyes on you, he likes kissing your shoulder and neck from behind. And let's not forget the breathtaking kisses the two of you share.
note: this was fun to write omg! This was my first time writing something for osferth, uhtred and sigtrygger. I want to write more for them, I have some ideas 👩🏻🍳
I’m honestly just re-falling in love with sigtrygger like omg 😩🤭
I know I haven’t gotten a full fic out in a whileee, but I just have been having trouble really focusing on a fic. But don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll get my grove back!
Like I said at the first note, this is pretty short but maybe I’ll make a part 2 in the future.

👀 Sigtrygger x Stiorra were the only couple in my eyes who were genuinely in love in talk and should have had more screen time.
i half-agree and half-disagree. i think other tlk couples were genuinely in love also - uhtred and gisela, even at times brida and ragnar, you could also argue that aelswith and alfred had some moments too. i think it also depends on your definition of genuinely in love.
but i do agree that they should have gotten way more screen time. setting them up in S4 and then skipping 10 years of their relationship was, in a way, a slap in the face for stiorra and sigtryggr fans. we saw brief moments of their relationship in S5, but if they had gotten more screen time and shown a more in-depth look into their life after S4 and how it progressed, i reckon stiorra and sigtryggr would have been very high on the "best tlk couple" list.

I really need to finish The Last Kingdom but I gave myself such a migraine sobbing over Aethelflaed that I am NOT AT ALL PREPARED to deal with that with Sigtrygger (who will make me cry harder cause I LOVE him and only liked Aethelflaed lol. Also??? WOLLAND??? WHY???) so I might start Peaky Blinders over because I also haven’t watched the last season of that and it’s been a long ass time so I need a refresher.

I should also perhaps note that the racially awkward bits of Dune are apparent to me now in a way they weren’t when I was a kid. Spice is a really transparent metaphor for oil. (It’s used in transportation...!) The Fremen are... I’m sure there’s miles of writing about the use and manipulation of Fremen. Dr. Yue never struck me as strange when I was a kid, he was just a doctor who happened to be Asian, but boy did this adaptation dial up the racism (also while making him act like he thought he’d actually get his wife back, like some naive infant). It’s certainly awkward how all the significant characters are white, even Sigtrygg (sorry, it’s been overnight and I can’t remember the fellow’s name).
It was really good that they made Liet Kynes a black woman, in some ways. She’s always supposed to have that secret epicness. Every other woman we see is busy being weak and emotional and producing babies, and remembering the books that is... true to form. So then we get Dr Kynes being Not That, right up until she dies and we’re back to White People Being Suspiciously Good at a Foreign Culture.
And then of course they’ve decided to stick all the extras into Fascist Military Units on Parade Grounds. I feel like that’s occupied so much space in our narratives that it’s actually managed to lose its fascist overtones.

Half Dane
When I’ve heard Sigtryggr Ivarsson was going to make an appearance this season, I literally squealed. After years writing about him (mainly baby and toddler Sigtryggr) and his father, I would finally see him on-screen... and it was glorious. I even skipped to the final episodes to see the pretty face of that cunning sweetheart. In any case, I started writing a short story about him and Stiorra. I was torn between picking one of my original characters (Emer, Moyra) as his mother, or leaving it to the imagination. I definitely see Sigtryggr’s mother as a Christian and I’ll show why in the next installment. For now only the opening.
Note: As many people probably haven’t finished the 4th season, I won’t tag to avoid giving spoilers. In this piece, I’ll try to explore more of the gaps between the scenes, but I’ll probably write a few moments we have seen on-screen, but focused on his perspective.
News of the slaughter in Tettenhall reached his ears as Sigtryggr and his men filled their ship with supplies to sail away from the only home they have ever known.
“It is said the Welsh claimed all the spoils for helping the Saxons,” the merchant smirked to Sigtryggr, “even slaves.”
“Slaves?”
“One of the army’s leaders no less,” Sigtryggr noticed Rorik’s discomfort as he glanced at the ground.
“Cnut? My cousin?” Sygtryggr clenched his fists, trying to control the fury that threatened to overwhelm his senses as he remembered how the massacre of his people could have been prevented if Cnut had answered his calling.
“I do not know if your cousin was among the fallen, but I know his woman is being tortured by King Hywel’s brother. I have been at his court to trade some of the silver he brought with him after Tettenhall.”
“His woman?” Sigtryggr shook his head, recalling Cnut had left his wife and children to raid and probably claimed another woman.
A Saxon concubine.
“A warrior named Brida.”
“A Dane.” Sigtryggr tilted his head, deep in thoughts.
“Tell me about the defenses of this stronghold,” Sigtryggr smirked, placing his hand on the merchant’s shoulder.
“As I was leaving, King Hywel said he would go on a pilgrimage.” Rorik winked.
“Seeking the forgiveness of his God for spilling blood,” Sigtryggr laughed, “Our Gods are revered in blood, while they talk about love and yet kill women and children.”
“King Hywel took many of his warriors with him.”
“A stronghold with silver and food for the taking.”
Rorik nodded, “Will you return?”
“We will rest and grow stronger.” Sigtryggr’s nostrils flared as if he could still smell the smoke of the burned settlement, “and when the Irish think they are safe, we will strike and take what is ours.”
