Happy 10/25, the third most important religious holiday in the Homestuck Calender, and we got a new HS2 to celebrate, focusing on one of the new kids. The new kids were one of the parts of Homestuck 2 I actually liked, so let's see how the new writers handle them! With a Jailbreak reference, apparently.

Wait, hold on, deep lore: thespiansGlamor is Harry, glutinousGymnast is Tavros. RecidicivousGainsayer and gavageCunctation are names we haven't seen before. GC fits into the AGTC DNA theme of all the screen names we've seen so far (it's Terezi's acronym), and RG doesn't. They might be random NPCs, but they might also be foreshadowing. Also, neither Rose nor Kanaya appear to be on their daughter's friendlist, unless they're under the scroll bar, but maybe that's not weird.

What, uh, what did she draw the key with, HS2? That's her blood color, but she's not bleeding.

Also, who's narrating this? This has been a question in HS2 all along, but the narration here calls attention to itself more. It's much more "Homestucky" than HS2's had been.

We even have narration describing conversation, which is something HS2 has never done and HS1 restricted to carapacians.

You suggest to Vriska that you should go the other direction. Vriska says nah this is definitely where we wanna be. She says between the two of you, you've probably got enough luck to take this whole place off the map if you really wanted. You ask her what the fuck she means by that. She says you know like with your Thief of Light powers. You tell her you don't have anything like that. She says huh, weird!

Oh FFS now I have to go look up if post-Retcon Vriska met Aranea, her own dancestor who was not a Thief of Light. That's such a weird thing for Vriska to assume, that Vrissy not only has Vriska's powers but has mastered them. Also, I wonder if this narration style, besides being a Jailbreak reference, is because the new writers aren't confident writing the HS2 characters yet? Or maybe they just don't want Vriska/Vrissy dialogues because they're kind of hard to read.

I like these expressions. I also like this continuation of Candy Lore, that all the HS1 characters see Candyland as a "fake" universe and that's part of why they fucked around so much and got so fucking weird, whereas we see here that the actual Candy Natives do not see their planet as "bootleg". The fact that the HS parents don't think of their own children as entirely "real" is actually super fucked up, but I guess Yiffy's got the main right of complaint there.

I like that Vriska, who can fly, still makes Vrissy give her a boost. What a jerk!

Vriska says now THAT sounds like some shit a REAL Vriska would say! You roll your eyes and start to leave when Vriska calls out to ask if you're going without wishing her good luck. As you start to wish her luck she cuts you off and tells you to keep it, as she already has aaaaaaaall the luck she needs. You say okay dude.

I don't know if the original HS2 writers intended for the resolution of the "Vrissy kind of idolizes Vriska" subplot to end with "Vriska's so fucking Vriska that Vrissy is disillusioned within literally minutes", but it's honestly kind of funny and I like it.

JANE: From the conversation recovered from Egbert's phone, we've learned that Roxy has been... conspiring alongside the rebels for months now. Operating a lab deep within the ruins of the Troll Memorial Meteor, she and her coconspirator Calliope are preparing some kind of super weapon they've dubbed "The Plot Point". JANE: Heretofore referred to as The Point.

This feels a little like shade.

JANE: Let’s get to The Point!!

A lot like shade.

It's a little convenient to the new team that they took over right when HS2 was starting to actually go somewhere, but regardless, that was a neat page. I got a soft laugh out of it, the plot is starting to move, and there was some decent worldbuilding.

I beat Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

There's gonna be spoilers in this just in case you care, hopefully I tagged it correctly, and also yeah this is a long one (I don't have it tagged game ramblings for nothing)

Anyways, loved this game. My gripes with it are very few, but unfortunately one of said gripes is very major and hasn't changed from Remake; but in the effort to Pretend like my thoughts are organized, I'm gonna section this cause sectioning is fun :)

Actually, one thing I wanted to note here (writing this after like, 3 paragraphs), is something that influences a lot of my love for this game is the fact that it... Doesn't suffer from translation problems like the OG. It brings factors that i never truly appreciated into the forefront, and clears up a lot of confusion. I wanted to put this here because I realized it would be weird to say all of my nonsense without clarifying this.

Gameplay

Rebirth (and Remake) is what I think is What modern FF should be. I absolutely love this style of combat so much. I do wish there was a very small passive ATB charge cause sometimes I get stuck in a situation where I can't do anything, but other than that the rotation of hack and slash then classic menu, and switch between party members is so fun, in the best of times I can make a really cool action scene, everyone showing off their own moves; it's a blast. I'll go a little deeper into the characters when I go to That section, but overall I found everyone really fun in some way, even though end game I ended up using the same party as I did in Remake (and also the OG VII lmfao).

I know to some/possibly most, the amount of open world (and Chadley) and the side quests might feel like a bunch of fluff and garbage, but I actually kinda really enjoyed it? I loved how the world intel all changed slightly as you progressed. Moogles as an example, annoying as they were, did add an extra level of challenge every time you saw them. When you had to catch a chocobo, it was a different style of stealth minigame. Summon crystals all had increasingly complicated patterns. Hell, even the towers were slightly different every time with how you had to climb or even reach them! I think this being the strength solidifies itself when I think of my least favorite intels being the Fiend Intel, because I think they were the most samey the entire game through. The side quests I compare to XVI. XVI's side quests were... like XIV. A LOT of dialogue, run here, more dialogue, fight one enemy or gather 6 items, then go back. Rebirth's quests felt... a little more alive? A little more varied? Sure, side quests are usually going to be the same in these styles of game, but I think of chasing a dog through the region while the dialogue happens along the way, I think of the options to gather more resources than the bare minimum for different rewards and dialogues, picking different flowers, having to pay attention to notes, having to interact with the minigames: it all felt more interesting and like I actually wanted to do them. The varied nature of everything is what made me enjoy it.

Oh and Queen's Blood? Greatest FF card game don't even @ me I had so much fun with it it better stay

Characters

One of my favorite parts of Rebirth is how much it helped or made me love the cast. Even characters that I did not care about or possibly actively disliked, this game made me enjoy. Main characters were all expanded on, side characters were silly, and brought back into relevance when I would never expect (Like holy shit I swear every named NPC from Remake came back which is so cool), and they all make the journey an absolute joy to take, and the world as colorful as FFVII SHOULD be. But let me talk about a cast that went from "yeah I like them" to possibly one of my favorite parties in the entire franchise.

Cloud

I honestly already considered him my favorite character in VII (which is a very hard thing to admit without the fear of people thinking you like him for the wrong reasons), and Rebirth being essentially half the game lets me get to see why again. A man who presents himself as serious and uncaring, but OOPS he actually does care and is really silly but unfortunately has some major mental problems! (please help him he is NOT ok). Sure, they kinda speed up his realization of certain aspects, and maybe they go a Little too hard on the fact that Something Isn't Right, but I really enjoyed seeing his declining mental state, its effect on the world, and his relationships with the party. The Sephiroth juice is intense at this point in the story, and I am very excited to see him in the next game. His gameplay is classic yet fun, with big swordy slashes and huge hits that don't have to be slow (they're sometimes slow).

Barret

My favorite part of Barret in Rebirth compared to Remake is how he didn't wear his sunglasses for most of the game. He's open, he's feeling, he's emotional; he's the big tough softy I love. This is where him and Cloud's relationship really gets to shine, where you can tell there is respect, trust, and concern between both of them. The Gold Saucer and side quests are where I think this is at its strongest, and I love seeing it. His gameplay makes him a really fun support, and just like Remake I had him as a sort of paladin healy tanky type, staying behind with GUN as he takes care of the party, which is really fun and consistent.

Tifa

This game does wonders for Tifa enjoyers (it's me I'm Tifa enjoyers), giving her a lot of focus and emphasis on that caring, observant nature that is her strongest suit. Her concern for Cloud and friendship with Aerith feel very strong here and it makes me happy to see. Her gameplay had her in my party the entire time no other reason, her fast attacks, dodges, ATB filling, and stagger damage multiplier being extremely huge in every single fight.

Aerith

The big one. Honestly, I'm gonna keep my real big story thoughts for later, but I will say I loved seeing her enjoy life, the open world, and helping others in the side quests. She's a great character to see happy :) Also, her scene in the Gold Saucer is probably now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. It was so fucking stunning that I cannot get enough of it. Unfortunately, her gameplay is easily my least favorite out of the group, as her slow attacks and dodging (yes I know she has an ability to boost her attacks but that takes a while to get to) makes her kind of a slog in my hands, and better off in the computer's.

Red XIII

One of two characters that I did not expect to grow to love as much as I did. I'll prob mention this again later, but... I didn't REALLY know the extent of his change when I played the original. Yeah, I knew he was young for his race, but he always felt like just that wise grumpy dog man (some of this could be on me not reading well enough but between poor translation and Advent Children and the fact he didn't make it into DFFOO I'm gonna give myself a break). Rebirth showed me how much of a joy Red is. Despite the trauma and pain he went through, he's silly, he's excited for life, he has fun and loves his family. But also, despite this and his youth, he doesn't COMPLETELY lose his knowledge and wise nature after his reveal; he just relaxes more. I care about Red so much more than I originally did now because this change was made clearer. His gameplay is also really fun, fast attacks, strong defenses, and even stronger abilities (stardust ray my beloved).

Yuffie

We already got a good amount of Yuffie in Intergrade, so having her again here felt like anyone else from last game. However, I do absolutely love how she was integrated into the main plot instead of just being Girl in Forest. She served as great comic relief (and literally says this!) for her appearance in the story (although I do think there were a couple occasions where it was a bit much but that's ok her arc is next game), and I really enjoyed that she started to become a cared for member of the group (really shown by Cloud in the Skywheel date and her and Barret's relationship). Gameplay was just as fun as Intergrade, the throwing/ninjutsu swapping being a joy, and I loved using her doppelganger attack in combination with elemental weaknesses and Sonic Boom. Yuffie was key for some of the harder fights, the MVP fr fr.

Cait Sith

The other of two characters I did not expect to enjoy, and Cait Sith here is the absolute king of it, as I DID NOT like him in the OG. But here? He's a larger character, he's more sympathetic, he's a little more understandable, and his gameplay doesn't suck shit lmfao. His betrayal I think was done a lot cleaner this time around, where he really Felt like part of the group, and his return was done pretty smoothly but honestly doing anything other than being like "hi hello I'm back!" while Cloud beats the shit out of Aerith is an improvement I really enjoyed his melee/ranged nature being similar to Cloud, and his heavy hitting attacks. Despite the fact that he still had RNG, it was RNG that felt good no matter what and I appreciated that.

Cid and Vincent

Our poor poor "you're not allowed yet" boys. No gameplay section here cause they ain't got any! But that's ok, because for what little role they had, I really enjoyed their presence. Early Cid was very interesting to me, and while i do feel like he loses a little not being introduced as a complete dickwad, I still love having Cid around and giving him a little more connection to the party. He didn't seem as aggressive and %#*^-y, but I kinda hope we get more of that in part 3 when Rocket Town happens. Vincent, similar to Yuffie, gets tied into the story in such a great way. Getting to fight him was super super cool, and I loved that small amount of comic relief he gives by being Overly edgy yet out of touch with the world. I'm very excited to see where both of them go.

Zack

It took me some time to... Accept what Remake did to the timeline. Once I did, I was all in on the train for more Zack. I love Zack! He's my other favorite VII character other than Cloud! This game gave me more Zack, and I appreciate it for that. Not to mention his whole interactions with Aerith and Cloud made me very happy and filled a void in my heart I needed (that fucking synergy attack between the two of them???? DUUUUUDE) Unfortunately however; he didn't get to... get the story treatment I would have liked. Gameplay wise; I don't care much for his charge mechanic, sadly.

Sephiroth

I don't have much to say here. Sephiroth is Sephiroth. He appears, says "pee your pants cloud", then fucks off, and he's really good at that, and that's what he's supposed to be. My grudges against him aren't against him and more against who's writing him. Playing him was hype though, and I enjoyed his counter mechanic which I feel got later reincarnated into Red.

As for people other than in the playable cast, Dio was incredibly fun, Elena felt like a treat and a more threatening than the original but still showing that silly nature (pink gun???? no tactical advantage whatsoever I love it), Hojo is still the scum of the earth as he should be (he never gets better!), I got to actually understand what Bugenhagen is, and so on and so on. Nobody was worse than their original appearance and I loved that.

ALSO CISSNEI GANG RISE UP WE LOVE OUR GIRL AND I'M SO GLAD SHE GOT TO RETURN

Story

So. This is the big part. If I had to choose where my biggest gripe with the game would be, it would be in the aspect of story. This is the Exact Same Gripe I had with Remake, that being the aspect of whispers, alternate timelines, and whatever Sephiroth is cooking. This being.... I don't really like it? I don't think it adds anything?? It's confusing, intentionally vague, and it really ruins the flow that these games have otherwise. Cause aside from this singular (big) aspect? Dude! This game fucks! It takes every story beat that was in the original, and expands on it in a way that i feel makes me love the story and world way more! I feel like a lot of aspects got tied together a lot more smoothly (although again, I also attribute this to not terrible translation), and every experience that I expected from the original was a joy to watch in this game. The swamp, Junon, the boat, Costa del Sol, the Gold Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, the Temple of the Ancients. These were all done so well. All of the side content and side stories were really fun, added a lot of character to the world. And with the slight changes they did make, like with Cait Sith's arc being changed to be more sympathetic instead of blackmailing and Cloud being controlled by Sephiroth NOT beating Aerith I think were actually done really tastefully and improved the experience (actually thinking about it Dyne's just felt like they wanted to hurt Barret more why would they do that). I just... I wish if they were going to do this whole alternate timeline dealy, they were a little more clear on it? i wish I could feel like it actually mattered to this series, but what i get is "oh wow the unknown journey" that turns into "yeah here are these extra bits that are confusing and don't change anything and actually instead ruin the impact of one of the most well known scenes in video game history)

With that I will talk about the ending. I was willing to ignore the fact that we didn't get to walk through the City of the Ancients more. I was still shaking and nervous until the very end, thinking "oh man what's going to happen???? oh fuck!!!" and what i was instead rewarded with was a constant whiplash of emotions and confusion that left me numb to what should have torn my heart out. I shouldn't have to be left wondering if a character truly died or not for the sake of "OHHH MAN TIMELINESSSSS WORLDS???" that didn't DO anything when I could have gotten either a successful changing of timeline, or a 4K edition of something to tear my heart out, and hearing the absolute pain in Cloud's voice in his speech afterwards. I am Really Hoping that part 3 will clear this up, and retroactively improve an ending and story beats that I think single-handedly knock this game down from a 10/10. I shouldn't have faith in them, cause they've beefed two endings in a row, but I do, because they've shown that everything else they can create are honestly perfect.

Graphics

it's like they knew tifa's theme was one of my favorites and proceeded to give me 20 versions of it also gold saucer getting individual remixes???? a top 5 battle on the big bridge? NO PROMISES TO KEEP???????? GOD FUCKING DAMN.

Unorganized Ramblings/Finale

I really did have a lot of fun with this game. I didn't feel soured until the end for the most part, even during some frustrating game segments (fuck you Rufus and Odin and then Odin again and also that last Fort Condor). I really appreciate getting to see the wider world of FFVII in a modern sense, and I think overall I appreciate what I didn't previously a lot more. I also loved how with the addition of a card game and Gilgamesh, it got to match up with VIII and IX, the other 2 PS1 FFs to really feel like a unified FF vision. This game kept the silliness that the original had on top of its incredibly dark setting for something that I love to describe as the same vibe as Yakuza. I laughed seeing Red get a whole scene instead of a single bit in his person outfit, and then cried at a newfound caring for Cloud, Tifa, and Barret seeing Jessie's poster in the Gold Saucer. The vibes were immaculate and I'm really really excited to see what they do for the final part (which is going to be called Reunion I'm betting my left materia on it)

9/10. The peak of modern FF gameplay that enhances a classic, but fails its mission of being different.

OKAY! So when I was about 10/13 years old my mom took me to get a check up.. perfectly normal right? What could possibly go wrong.. oh yeah I was also there to get my shots.. I hate getting shots, always have always will.. it’s the syringe needles!! the fact that I know they have to be hollow enough for stuff to go in and out of the inside of those things is just wrong to me.. 😟 Anyway me and my Mom get there and everything SEEMS to be alright.. until the doctor comes back and says I have to get EVERY! SINGLE! SHOT! SINCE BIRTH!! OVER AGAIN!!!

Ya wanna know why??? BECAUSE THEY LOST ALL MY MEDICAL RECORDS!! ALL OF THEM!! 😡

Like okay yeah, shit happens I guess..

But.. my colorful, sugary sour Overlord.. They didn’t lose literally ALL my medical records once.. NOT twice!! NO no no no… BUT THREE FUCKING TIMES!!! In.. a.. row.. 😑 And all in the same Year.. I shit you not. 😤

Sssoooo yeah, I’m a bit traumatized and HATE going to the Doctor.. 😰

SO! 2020!! Covid shows up and I have to get a vaccine shot.. my Mom bless her heart comes with me, and I have to fill out the form… I spent an embarrassingly long time trying to write down my date of birth..

I was shaking so bad and ended up handing the paper & pen over to my Mom… Because I couldn’t remember which way the number 3 faced.. I was having a freaking mini panic attack.. at 21 🥲

I also had a panic attack & nearly fainted when I had to get my molars removed and the nurse showed up with the iv bag.. and I finally realized I was getting the syringe not the gas.. hadn’t panicked the whole time till that poor lady strolled in.. I think I scared her a lil when I started hyperventilating and asking my mom, wh-what what? What??? But it turned out okay!! That incident happened when I was about 18 I think..

BRUH i know what you mean with the hating needles thing! I have had nothing but bad experiences with them. Like when I was younger I'd have to get allergy shots every week so I already HATED shots bc of that but then one day this super old bitch gave me my shot and literally stuck me so hard that the needle scraped my fucking bone! My bicep hurt for a whole month I couldn't do anything!

And then this one time I was in middle school and I had to get my blood drawn for testing, and some info about me I have always had very thick skin, and the nurse tried to use a butterfly needle but when she tried putting it in the damn thing broke against my skin! Anyways, everyone panicked for a hot sec and now it's in my file somewhere that they have to use big needles on me now! LIKE THE FUCK!?!?🤬🤬🤬

Ugh! If I sat here and told you all my needle stories we'd be here all day.

But my gods, how they gonna lose your damn records THREE FUCKIN TIMES!!!??? It's called a fuckin computer system you numb skulls! If it's really that hard to input the data yourselves then ffs just scan a pic of the records and save that!

Me: On behalf of my fruity heh subject, Skittle's gonna sue! *sprinkes dark matter on them bitches*

But fr tho same with the covid thing. In order to get my second vaccine I had to be drugged before going, and I STILL had a panic attack the whole time, not cause of my fear of needles tho. I mean it was a little bit because of the needles but mainly because of the agoraphobia. I think that was really the first instance of me being unable to function alone in public. I had to have Ritz and her mom there to talk for me and fill out the paper work cause I couldn't. I was shaking, I couldn't communicate outside of nodding to Ritz, and I couldn't even look at anyone other than Ritz. There were a few times I almost passed out inside of the clinic waiting room. I'm pretty sure now that I think about it that that was the last time I was out in public at all and that was almost 2 years ago. Definitely was NOT a good motivator to make me do it again lol. Sorry this is low key embarrassing for me to talk about and I honestly spent 30 minutes just deleting this and rewriting it over and over again before deciding to keep it

Welcome To the Playground (Arcane Rewatch Sunday)

| Episode 1 |

This post involves spoilers to the episode and is entirely my commentary on watching it!!

To start this rewatch off we meet the first episode. The one that sets the stage of what's to come, and damn IS this an episode. I lied abit about watching this for the second time because I have seen this episode one twice. More so one scene being prominate but I didn't give enough of my attention to the opening scene.

Here we see the sisters. (A lot of these screenshots I took are of them being together because they actually make me want to SOB and throw myself onto the floor in shambles.)

Powder's song is almost haunting in a way, as we see moments later of Vander and the total fucking destruction (which I didn't remember this scene all that great so holy shit this was such an interesting way to set the stage and tone of things.)

Another photo of the sisters because like above. They make me want to sob. VI LOOKS SO BROKEN TOO. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE HER A HUG FFS.

I really really appreciate the color. The way everything is shaded and just too, the way things are-- Vander. I'm guessing this is how they met and he took them in?? I'd assume. Might have missed some kind of subtext but it definitely is an emotional look combined with the utter emotion behind both of them. Too with Powder's singing.

AND HERE WE ARE! This scene I have the most familiarity with. I really do like how everything is colored as well. Mylo and Claggor alongside them <- I did not memorize their names before EITHER WHICH IS WRONG. They do seem like cool characters, but LOOK AT THIS SHOT. Topside really be having EVERYTHING.

I was going to entre a joke here about Powder almost falling off the building and Vi grabbing her arm and show a picture of Catadora from princess prom to say something but I forgot the punchline and I didn't take it. Not the same energy either, but my brain was trying to think up a silly joke.

I had to take a screenshot of the Kiramman place-thingy. It's so funny- I missed that detail last time. Imagine robbing the girl's families' place that's going to be your love interest. CANT RELATE LOL. But hey!! I thought it was really funny Mylo commenting about them locking their balcony alongside Vi just kicking the fucking door open. SUCH A SLAY move. We love, we stan!!!!

(Also to note, its such a cool frame to just pause and look at in finer detail. It's got so much stuff to look at. I know I didn't take more shots of Powder with the orb ball thing, but I really thought everything in the place was super unique and even through them robbing the place it was fascinating the part where Powder finds the sandwich and just ate ONE BITE of it and going oooo what's this thing. I CAN'T. Girl eat more of the sandwich, you're leaving too much behind!!!! AT LEAST TAKE IT WITH YOU.)

I would say never change but uh... UH... ANYWAY.

The orb fucking EXPLODED. CRAZY.

Guess your clear Powder. Don't think they're gonna find that sandwich now. But I don't think that's.... leaving no traces.

I mean you left that building without a trace, sure... but like... where's the building???

(btw yeah I was watching with captions on. It helps with my comprehension of what I'm watching. I'm not gonna ramble about it NOW but damn people should not hate so hard on people who watch stuff with captions on.)

Mylo commenting about his new shirt and getting cut off by Vi kicking him down was so goofy. If you KNOW. But too-- This color pallet. I know I keep saying that but even the topside shitty parts are pretty. TOPSIDE REALLY BE HAVIN EVERYTHING.

UGH GOD I HATE THIS PART BECAUSE THEY WERE DOING SO GOOD. Mylo is such a stupid idiot. More of the sisters because I can't. I actually can't. Someone's gonna skin me if I say that when I first saw Powder I thought of 2-D from Gorillaz. It's the blue hair okay. I DON'T EVEN LISTEN TO THEM. Derailing this episode mb.

All this violence and then its Powder. I got so frustrated when they started chasing her with the stuff too. Was truly rooting for her. Every time I see the scene too I always wish she succeed.

SHE LOOKS SO FUCKING BADASS. LOVE HER. Love the buzzed fade thing so MUCH. The hair. It's everything. SHE is everything.

I always want her to win. I always do. She deserved so much better than how they treated her. Her inventions, she truly was so misunderstood. Never given a chance and written off. I really liked the writing but like holy fuck it was so infuriating because you just want the best for her with all that's happening. You want her to win...

He said it. He said the thing.

He should fuck off and die but HE SAID THE THING.

I cut out most of the part where we saw The Last Drop and Vander talking to those people about negotiating things. Dunno what to comment about that whole segment but Vander coming to chew out Vi once they all came back. I think the whole part where he coaches her about being a leader was a good message. About how she needs to be less reckless and more strategic because people look up to her- Especially Powder. And then not only that, but their health is also in her hands if she is being reckless.

Anyway ahhh THIS EPISODE WAS SO GOOD. Sorry if I seemed dry at all in any of my parts. It's like- I dunno what else to say at times but I really really enjoyed it. I think seeing this show again is going to really inspire me in more ways than just "ooo show" but it's just SUCH a neat looking world. World building is such an important aspect of stories to me, it needs to have a good and interesting world for me to feel a good hard urge to invest into the content.

One of the reasons why I fell in love with TOH so hard was BECAUSE of its world. (among other things *cough cough* wlw)

The world is such a important piece in storytelling. Characters too, and sometimes they matter more because they can fall flat if they aren't written good. But everything that goes into the world is such an engaging thing.

With this episode it didn't feel like- Boring or anything at all. (I have a short attention span at times and sometimes my mind will just be like "ughhhh") WHICH IS AWESOME. These episodes are literally 45 minutes so like wtf. If a show can do that shit- Damn dude they're cooking SO hard.

I'm not even a LoL fan or like knowing of that lore, and I'm sure knowing of that stuff would make things even more interesting with lore (am a SUCKER for lore too) but even as it stands it's such an Indepth show. (I mean that as in it's not kid-ish. THERES MEAT TO IT.)

I'm so ready for episode two!!!

aka: the Unstable Molecule Suit

Once more, as always, I say—

the unstable molecule suit... i posted the blue one already (f4 suits post) but the rest is new.

context: in 2015 (when peter and co are in their late 20s) johnny will design a special fantastic four suit out of unstable molecules (third gen) for peter, but they didn't get around to giving it to him right away cause life stuff, man-spider, other shit... (which reed uses as an opportunity to test some (stealth) features since no one's wearing this one)

(this was my first concept doodle for this before putting it on my shiny new spidey bod template i made recently)

check those milky white lenses... i particularly like that look actually. hard for me to draw but looks good

Peter gets a pop of red on account of being spidey lol (everyone else's soles are black and white) - you can see the blue is smooth and matte but the black is slightly textured.

i decided beside all the white glowing in the dark that they're reflective as well. you know, for safety.

in 2016 Johnny dies. lol. and it's after that when the family gives peter his suit, after johnny's will and so forth... so peter never wears the blue one in the end (at least not more than once or twice), just the white/black ones... (actually he mostly mains the black version, mourning etc.)

reed designs the FF suits mostly by himself and if johnny weren't dead he would say they're fugly (there's no accounting for taste i guess):

Here's the basic white and black version. Chose to go the glossy latex-look route for the blacks cause I think it looks nice, added a honeycomb texture on the white to make it look Cool and Futuristic (lol) This white version is the "off" version, aka, no stealth whatsoever. It's just the basic suit mode to replace their blue suits after Johnny's death.

shoes… split color soles for fun.

and all the white bits on this reflect too, again, for "safety" aka i just think it looks cool and it makes them hard to photograph.

anyway the black version:

"Stealth"

This is this universe's version of the stealth suit, and if anyone knows me they know two things about me: 1) I hate Dan Slott's writing and 2) I think the Big Time neon suit is sexy. So some of the logo design here is inspired by the logos Ramos designed for the Big Time stealth suit, which I think matches the aesthetic well. In the full version you can see one of the major things i took from the big time suit (aside from lighting up) for both black and white versions of my FF suit is extending the spider's legs to the tops of peter's thighs, as well as parts of the back logo.

Aaaand here it is, me 100% on my bullshit: obviously this is drawing directly from the Big Time suit, in being shiny black and lighting the fuck up, but in my case I adjusted the colors' purposes very slightly. So, when unlit, in its most mild stealth mode, it's just regular old reflective white, and it only moderately cloaks the wearer, mostly just making it a tiny bit easier to sneak. ironic considering it is hi-vis reflective but I love irony i guess.

red (...tbh, orange, really) is audio damping/muting which is basically exactly what it was in slott's comic, though it has mild visual cloaking.

green is the opposite and is mostly visual cloaking/invisibility, but has mild audio damping as well...

and the biggest difference here is the blue-white glow. afaict in the comics that just means it's like... off... lol but in this case i'm assigning it a special function which is as a radar/radio/sonar/etc. scrambler and signal jammer, so... signal cloaking.

three kinds of stealth!

also i didn't draw it but, like the big time suit, peter's mask allows himself to hear and see himself (actually not entirely true, he can't hear anything when it's red 90% of the time, reed's still uh... ironing some kinks out) and the suits use contact mics instead of traditional mouthpieces to help w/ comms in this regard... (not that it works when signal jamming is on)

the others also have goggles like the ones felicia has in the big time arc, that can be... materialized via the magic of unstable molecules lol and those do basically the same thing as peter's lenses.

the difference is mostly just that reed designed it instead of peter (but i'm sure peter is poking around in there anyway, and later on pete will be designing and coding his own suits into the unstable suit without reed's assistance no problem) (he took a programming class in college, you know)

obvs the furthest left red and blue is just his standard suit, I put that there for comparison, and included the emergency mask w/ aluminized lenses which is also on the first post with his handmade suits of course

But there's also an updated version Johnny designed that's very very similar to Peter's handmade suits:

"Classic"

This updated version coded into the unstable suit is a slightly sleeker and slightly modified design w/ opaque high-tech lenses (w/ an internal HUD) but otherwise almost identical. One major difference is that it's totally seamless, and also the spiders are slightly different as well.

i just used a halftone brush to slap some texture on there, it's not a specific kind of fabric i had in mind or anything...

This design is actually basically just my previous/usual design I've used a lot for Peter, which you can see all over in my miscellaneous spidey fanart, with the arms and the boot shape and stuff, and i figured unstable molecules was a great excuse to bust it out again...

Bonus reflectivity:

And then is Civvies.

This is just regular civilian clothing for the suit to take the shape of when not in use etc. Johnny designs and coordinates the entire outfit down to the socks and underwear, for Peter, around the time he designs the blue suit for Peter. (aka like 6 months before he dies)

The watch serves essentially the same purpose, being a way to disguise the suit very discreetly in a way that lets Peter wear it at work, walking around etc. with any outfit he wants.

It's a Baume & Mercier Clifton Complete Calendar – starburst blue face (10057) – introduced in 2015 at around $5000 which... for a fancy watch is not too bad but is still $4990 more than Peter would ever willingly spend on a watch. Luckily it's low-key enough that it doesn't scream "I'M WORTH FIVE GRAND"

well technically it's a bootleg anyway since it's a techy fantastic four contraption inside, but it LOOKS like that watch and it's a nice match for peter's sense of style.

Now, anyway, wrt to the lining in the leather jacket, you may be thinking, hang on a second that secret spider and color scheme looks familiar—

No biggie it's just the jacket Peter gets gunned down in (you know, to death)

I would say I'm not doing that plot but technically that would be lying.

It's not the SAME but I'm def drawing some inspiration for later in Peter's life from this—but not until he's 49, and right now he's only 28 lol. So until then it's just a snazzy leather jacket his dead best superhero friend gave him posthumously.

Which brings Peter's leather jacket count up to I think... possibly 4 by his late 20s? 3 or 4, I'm not sure. He had the symbiote able to become a leather jacket at 17/18 but iirc he replaces that with a real moto jacket at some point... he has a shearling coat which is a leather of sorts, and he has flash's ESU letter jacket (wool and leather) by this time for sure, which flash gave him because peter's the one that graduated and flash stopped wearing it after dropping out freshman year like ten years before this lol

I think it's quite handsome. Normally Peter's not this uhhhh Hip and Fashionable, with the acid wash jeans and whatnot (typically wearing like, slacks, khakis and sweaters) but Johnny is much more stylish than him while still getting into Peter's kind of foxy bad boy underlying aesthetic.

Obviously it's fairly low profile externally since it's meant to be worn as real civilian clothing, so it can't have a bunch of spider-man crap on it if peter's going to wear it with his face exposed.

I drew some inspiration from racing-styled jackets since Johnny is the one who designed this outfit in-universe, so that kind of shape and cut made a lot of sense to me. General color scheme and, as mentioned, the spider embroidered onto the lining. is based off of Spidey's last stand though.

Acid-washed jeans, chelsea boots, more Johnny influence on taste here... well partially. I think Peter would like chelsea boots since they are understated, slip-on, and cover his ankles. Less relevant when it's all unstable molecules cause he doesn't have to worry about things like red tights or quick-changing his shoes after this, but, it's one of those things I think becomes ingrained in his style as he grows up.

Also every piece of the civilian outfit can be worn individually, combined with other real clothes etc., it's just convenient to have a whole outfit on standby.

The red briefs are Calvin Klein. just... fyi.

Anyway you can also see that Peter has some remnant fuzz on the nape of his neck and part of his back from The Curse of the Man-Spider which is set almost exactly a year before Peter gets the gen 3 Unstable Molecule suit(s).

The happy trail and chest hair was always like that though.

A fun benefit of including this joke outfit is that I got to draw Peter's gnarly burn scar (which i also tossed onto the lineup w/ peter's fire resistant suit).

He ALSO has scars on both sides of his ribcage from Man-Spider btw

from the auto-amputation.

"Bellatrix you little bitch" standing up red beams shot out of your hands sheilding sirius from the veil bellatrix started runing out of the room Y/n started walking towards her while taking her wand out.

"Well shit" said dash rushing after you both.

"Crucio" shouting it at her again and again till she was screaming with pain a voice in your head said the one devil who was controlling your body right now "come on y/n you know what to do" it whispered.

"AVADA-"

"Y/N NO" dash said shooting a disarming spell at you. Looking at him you kneeled down on the floor he came running to you kneeling before you, you leaned your head on his shoulder breathin heavily calming yourself down slowly your hair color returned back to its orignal color.

dash patted you head slowly. slowly everyone started coming out of the room. sirius came and knelt after you.

"Are you ok" he asked and you nodded your head turning to look at him.

Last Book: I'm reading Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross and I am enjoying it, but it upsets me that current YA fantasy is so tame and restrained. In my day we were reading Vampire Academy where the protagonist had to kill her turned-evil boyfriend and he captured her and locked her up and put her in a vampiresque sexual trance of sorts ffs. What will happen to the children reading all this prudeness honestly!!!!!! I'm also reading a thriller called The Maid's Diary and the last book I finished was another YA, titled Make me a Liar. It was a scy-fi murder mystery and a solid 2/5 stars read. IDK is it just me or last year was really really weak, book-wise? It was very hard for me to actually find new releases that kept me hooked.

Last Movie: Saw Mean Girls at the theater and at home I rewatched D&D Honor Among Thieves. Still a fantastic movie btw.

Last TV Show: I'm watching PJ&O weekly! Also I just returned from a three week trip to Sweden and they had Scrubs available to stream there, which sadly is not true here in Brazil. Anyway I got to watch all of season one before coming home.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Savory! Specially if its a little tangy. I love adding lime and salt to stuff lol

Current Obsession: So the PJ&O show has definitely rekindled some of the decade old obsession I've had for/with a handful of characters. Also a couple months back I started to write fanfiction again and finally had the guts to put into words stories I fantasied for a long time, for the niche pairing I've secretly read since I was 17. Its scary cause fandom is daunting but wth, right? Which in turn made me want to read even more fanfiction to celebrate fanwork. People are so talented its insane. Also I have been writing some of my own original shit. Oh and its Big Brother Brasil season so I apologize for my capslocked portuguese tweets for the next 3 months because I cannotjust watch something

Looking Forward To: Carnaval is in a couple of weeks, which, love!! And to keep with the theme, let me give you a book, a movie and a show I'm excited for: Show: Severance season 2 whenever that drops Movie: Wicked part 1 baby I will be there in full green paint idc idc Book: *another disappointed sigh* I love Anthony Horowitz's mysteries, especially his self insert ode to himself (the Hawthorne and Horowitz series which is so so good, sadly;) and a new one is coming out in march, apparently. I will be there.

Bootleg wood finish, for those who are interested.

Basic ingredients are wax and oil. If you want it food safe, go for beeswax and coconut oil. If that doesn't matter, any scrap wax will do, plus oil of your choice. The harder the wax the harder the finish- candles in jars generally have a high oil content already, so may not provide a good base for applications that need to not weep oil. I like pillars, tapers, or floating candles for the firmness of the wax. I mostly stick to coconut oil because I have it and because olive oil is a bit whiffy for me when I don't want it to be. I also think that it makes a firmer finish, but to each their own.

Color and scent are up to you. If reusing candle wax, keep in mind that the color will be a translucent suggestion instead of a bold statement. If coloring with crayola shavings, have scrap wood handy to test your result. Be gentle, too much crayon can make the mix behave weird. Essential and fragrance oils can be added if desired. Final product on the wood will not be super aromatic so keep that in mind. IF YOU ADD CRAYONS AND SCENTED OILS IT IS NO LONGER FOOD SAFE. FOODSAFE FORMULA IS BEESWAX (foodgrade) AND A FOOD OIL ONLY. IF YOU POISON YOURSELF WITH THIS I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FFS.

Melt chosen ingredients. I have a wax warmer with a silicone insert that makes this really goddamn easy, and I do recommend it for safety sake. A microwave can work, or stove top if you're ballsy. Were I planning a larger batch, I'd go for a crockpot (the little dipper size) if only for the warming feature. The wax melter is nice so I don't waste ingredients prototyping. Once melted, mix thoroughly. Apply hot to raw wood to be finished. I used napkins, but a sacrificial paintbrush is another option. It will cool on application. I use a hair dryer to encourage penetration, and another napkin to mop up any excess that the wood won't absorb. I like the hair dryer over a warm oven because less fire hazard, but to each their own.

Proportions of wax to oil vary. My current batch was about 2 tealight's worth of wax from a damaged floating candle, a heaping teaspoon of coconut oil, and A Lot of essential oils. At room temperature it sets hard and excess was carefully poured into silicone molds (discount candy molds from Walmart scratch-and-dent) for future use. The final finish is not oily or sticky, with perhaps a hint of waxy texture on rougher wood where it pooled just a bit. Finish is not waterproof but is water resistant. Darkened the wood slightly and enhanced grain but did not tint (it was a white candle). It has not stained or made an oil bloom on the paper beneath it yet. Reapplication is simple and so far does not look patchy. It will wear over time and handling.

Notes: this is a hot method of application and needs the heat source to help with the absorbing. If you want to draw, woodburn, paint, or otherwise decorate do that first. It fills the pores of the wood so getting paint to stick is a trick if you use this first.

Make it witchy: seethe materia in the oil and wax to infuse (strain it out with a coffee filter before application). Choose essential oils that you prefer. Use spell oils for the oil portion. Add mica powders (very fine, eyeshadow does some cool shit) to create shimmer. Add powdered herbs to the melted mix (and I mean actually powdered, otherwise it will fall off). Use remnants of spell candles as the wax portion to continue the working.

It also works to waterproof leather boots. You can use straight beeswax and a hairdryer for that though, and the waterproofing will outlast the damn tread.

Part 1, Original parasites Colonists There are 130-140ish people, (I’m using Sariel’s guide to Pern, which includes non-humans, and 6 families of unknown size), named in Dragonsdawn; 7 of them known to be children , and 24 are known to be born on Pern. This IS technically enough that you could have a colony, and given that they brought genebanks with them, the colony wouldn’t even have to be inbred to hell. Unfortunately, this DOES require every couple to have several children, and all of THEIR kids to have several kids, which is kind of unfair for these children who didn’t ask to be stranded on a alien planet with no hope of escape (THEY ARE LITERALLY MAKING SURE OF IT (God forbid you change your mind and want to leave the planet where DEATH RAINS FROM THE SKY)). It also expects all of the colonists to be competent, which they demonstrably ARE NOT. Thus, I’d up the colonist population to 500ish, in the hopes that we get some people who actually know jack about shit, and enough people who are willing to have kids, biological, adopted, or IVF/Banked. Secondly, There are only 18 dragons who survived the first hatching, one of which dies, and I REALLY don’t think that’s enough for a viable breeding program. The first hatching had 27 eggs, and Wind Blossom was making more, that hatched into 4 whers (justice for whers, justice for Wind Blossom! One of the only sane people here!) While they DID have to abandon Landing, I don’t see why they couldn’t have saved the INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT genetic engineering equipment, besides the fact that the people in charge were overconfident morons. Let’s say in this AU, we had sane people in charge, who understood the concepts of inbreeding, eugenics, and invasive species. This would be a MASSIVE change to the entire setting of Pern, Minor Notes: Names

Kitti Ping Yung should be renamed to Katharine Ping Yung. Give the poor woman some dignity. (a hard ask, since the asian women are named like strippers, although that’s true of all of the female background characters, tbh) Wind Blossom’s name should be Yung Xiaohua, since Wind Blossom is not a Chinese name, and this is a closeish literal translation that is used as a name. Chio-Chio Yoritomo is just Chio Yamamoto. I don’t know why she decided to double up her name like that, and Yoritomo is the FIRST name of a actual historical person. Desi Arthied: Worst last name known to man. Possibly a corruption of Arbied, which is his new last name. The Fusaiyuki family. Yuki is a perfectly acceptable last name, Fusaiyuki isn’t anything at all, and when I googled Fusai, it turns out it means a liability/dissapointment, which while accurate to how I feel about McCaffery’s choices, isn't going to be someone’s last name. Kenjo and Ito, however, are real names, albiet uncommon, so they pass. There are also SEVERAL people who are only identified with a single name, but this post is getting long as is, so I’m not going over them

Also looking over this list, almost all the people noted as “under suspicion”, who are major antagonists, or are otherwise problematic are implied to be of color. FFS McCaffery.

How many times have I blocked you, leech? Me not posting your incessant messages which you continuously send with your vile shit is not “hypocritical” when I repeatedly told anons to not send me stupid shit.

But you are like a chewing gum stuck under a shoe, useless, worthless and hard to get rid of because you have no self dignity and you still keep sticking around places where you are told you are not welcome (get some self-respect , ffs. And stop trying to use my dog’s death against me because it makes you look not only gross but also weak since it shows you have nothing to argue with me , so you resort to these made-up scenarios about my dead dog (what is next, my mother’s death? Go on, make up shit like how I killed her or was horrible to her even though I was not, but truth never stopped your lies, so go ahead and lie about that too while you are at it).

My dog was not “sad” looking, you dipshit. He was a gorgeous senior 15 year old, so of course he looked his age. Let me see you when you are 80 and rank your “sad look”. He still had his puppy big eyes full of life in that photo. The only difference between his young self and that photo was his brown bits of fur around his face became white, and that is called natural aging, you dumbo.

Also, I didn’t “refuse” to give him an honorable death. Our last visit with the vet we had no such convo about euthanasia. He had had a heart disease for the last three years but was still managing well. When I recently told you on my blog that he lived beyond his breed’s life expectancy, you ignorantly and ill-intently made up a scenario in your head where I supposedly “refused” an “honorable death”. Lie much?? First of all, who are you to decide what constitutes an honorable death to begin with for you to assume mine didn’t have an honorable death. Maybe you are sending your pets to an unnecessarily early grave when they still have quality of life and happy days left in their lives. I pity any pet that may come across you. Your intentions are so evil that your home would not be a safe place for any pet.

Now stop being a disgusting garbage and using people’s dogs’ deaths to try to “hurt” them. And doing all this while you are a scaredy-cat grey face. 😬 This look is bad for you; do you not get it? 😬 You are so desperate to “hurt” me that you are reducing yourself to sub-human levels. This is you looking like a shitty person. It has nothing to do with me or my dog.
