Stay Somewhere Unique- Stonehenge Campsite And Glamping Pods

Staying in the same homogenous chain hotel time after time never really gives you any feeling of depth, diversity or the sense of truly discovering what a destination is about. Try and get away from the tourist traps of familiar chains and instead focus on finding something unique, different or that allows you to discover more of somewhere. If you’re planning a visit to Wiltshire and really want to be in the heart of this historic landscape, then a fantastic place to stay is the Stonehenge Campsite and Glamping Pods. With direct bus routes to Salisbury and Devizes, it’s easy to get around. The site has award-winning facilities and a range of camping options. If you want a truly unique experience there are a range of Glamping pods available, each with its own special touches. I stayed in the Butterfly Pod, a little wooden hut with a warming electric fireplace, double bed and tea making facilities. There was a private garden and picnic bench, perfect to enjoy the outdoors with a little privacy.

Walking The Salisbury Plain, A Guided Tour Through History

I always say the best way to get to know somewhere is to walk it, so to take this one step further, a personalised guided tour is like turning a place into a potential mastermind subject and getting to experience it in a way not everybody does. Chris from Guided Walks In Wiltshire took us on a guided tour around Salisbury Plain, pointing out interesting historical information and stories as we walked. The tour took a varied route from the gate of our campsite through winding villages and up into woodland and out to the vast windy openness of the Plain.

Not only is the countryside in this area known for its historical sites of importance such as the Neolithic Stonehenge and surrounding monuments like woodhenge, but the area also has a fascinating background with the British armed forces. The area is still highly used today for military training when you’re walking you encounter some obvious signs of this, including tank-crossings.

Visit Stonehenge

Even when you’re travelling consciously trying to avoid the big tourist traps in favour of experiencing somewhere like a local, there are always circumstances where it’s worth making an exception. When in Wiltshire it is definitely worth paying a visit to Stonehenge. Though this ancient monument lay shrouded in mystery it’s modernisation was front-page news, with English Heritage spending a whooping £27 Million renovating the sites visitors centre.

Eat Like The Locals

Once you’re done with soaking up the historical landscapes and culture, you’ll probably have worked up quite an appetite. Food and culture are ingrained into one another so the best way to know somewhere is to eat what the locals eat. In England, this could be as simple as going to your local country pub. There are many small picturesque villages a short distance from the stones, meaning plenty of options for food lovers. I visited The Swan Inn at Stowford for a taste of the comfort food us British LOVE! There was plenty on the menu to choose from, I ordered the lamb shank with mint gravy, seasonal veg and mashed potato, which was cooked to perfection.

After dinner the local pub is also the best place to wind down, maybe have a drink with some locals. We did a bit of pub hopping and visited another small pub, The Boot Inn, that happened to be running a quiz that night. It was £2 entry per person, which included a surprisingly decadent half time snack of homemade pasty and roast potatoes. The pub had a very close-knit family vibe but was also exceedingly welcoming, which made for a very fun evening.

Visiting Devizes, A Wiltshire Market Town

After spending the first day of our trip getting to know the outdoor landscapes, local history and small villages of Wiltshire, Day two meant it was time to discover a more urbanised area. Devizes is a market town with a rich medieval past and fascinating architectural history, with over 500 listed buildings in the area. Alongside its regular Thursday market, the town has some great places to visit and explore.

Local business At Its Best: The Wadworth Brewery Tour

Located in Devizes since 1875, family-owned Wadwarth is a cornerstone of Devizes identity. Impressively, they have managed to keep up many of their traditions, which are now available for all to see during regular guided tours of the brewery. Walking around gives you a fascinating insight into the history of Wadworth and its production of typically British ales. Although some of the production has been modernised and changed with time (like the move away from coal power to greener alternatives) it is nice to see some firmly remain intact. Wadworth still uses traditional Shire horses to deliver casked ale to local pubs in Devizes. The three horses, Monty, Max and Archie, regularly attend local events and compete in shows. The brewery also has it’s own in house sign painters, creating traditional and personalised signs for its entire 200 plus partnership pubs. Prince Charles recently paid a visit to the brewery to honour its work in promoting the importance of community and local pubs across Britain.

Learn About History On A Local Scale

Unlike national museums that encompassed broad subjects of wide international importance, small museums can provide significant context on the important historical events of a specific location, meaning a much more targeted and therefore encompassing approach. In the case of The Wiltshire Museum, it significantly covers the history of the counties story, including but not limited to Stonehenge. The museum allows you to pursue its range of award-winning displays at leisure, including treasures discovered inside the stone circle by various archaeologists. If you want to learn about Stonehenge and the regions wider history in a quiet, relaxed and knowledgeable setting this museum is the place to visit.

Living on the Wiltshire border myself, it is an area I am very familiar with and one I know can easily be a tourist trap, what with having one of the most well-known attractions in England. I thought for the first feature, it’d be nice to start on a local scale and try and see somewhere close by a little differently. I have found it’s common to have the tendency to take places nearby for granted, instead favouring more far-flung and exotic destinations. Exploring Wiltshire showed me just how much potential lays right on your own doorstep.

Lifeproof Cases

The latest new iPhones have high levels of dust and water resistance and have done so since the iPhone 8 and later. Glass panels are used in their build for looks as well as for wireless charging. The LifeProof brand has four type or styles of cases that further improve the level of protection. These type are as follows: Fre, Next, Slam, Flip. LifeProof Fre has a front screen protector and also has more seals for extra waterproof protection. The protection is up to two meters for an hour. Flip is the new Flip wallet case option. The new LifeProof Next is the mid range protective case of the LifeProof brand. The LifeProof Slam case will give just drop protection while the Next case has been designed to be dropproof, dirtproof, and snowproof.

You can pick up a LifeProof Fre case from us at the Cleveland Markets on Sundays. This case comes with an integrated front screen protector. More seals are in the case and this leads to improved waterproof protection of up to two meters for an hour.

If your iPhone goes with you to the pool or to the beach or the pool or if you seem to have half of your outdoor life in the rain you’ll need the want full protection for your iPhone, that the Fre case provides. The additional interior O-ring seals, as well as the front plastic cover bring the dust and water resistance to IP68 with MIL-STD 810G drop protection.

The LifeProof Fre comes in quite a few different colour types: Night Lite (all black with lime green highlights), Drop In (mint, gray, and lime green), Wipeout (couple shades of mint and pink highlights), Chakra (purples and pink), Banzai (blues and lime green), and Fire Run (reds and gray highlights).

There is a clear window on the back of the Fre case for the Apple logo and wireless charging and Apple Pay work perfectly fine with your iPhone in this case.

Lifeproof Next

The new LifeProof Next is the mid-level model of the LifeProof brand with the LifeProof Slam focused just on drop protection. The Next is manufactured so that it is be drop proof, dirt proof, and also snowproof (not that we get much snow in the Redland Shire).

The Next case has two pieces that clip tightly together to seal in your iPhone. The case’s back is made of a hard, rigid clear plastic and this extends up to all four sides to hold your phone in place without any ability to move.

The Next case’s front piece is clear plastic and features coloured softer material that fits over the top of your iPhone. Simply place the iPhone into the back piece and then the top part easily clips into place. The coloured material is available different colours to help you customise and stand out: black, gray, mint, as well as pink. There’s small toggle for the ringer switch .

Lifeproof Next has raised buttons for the volume and right side button with a door covering the Lightning charging port. There is no cover on the front of this case if you need protection for the screen, then buy the Fre case you can use a glass screen protector.

The Next case is a slim protective case proving that you do not need to double the thickness of the iphone to have an outstanding level of protection.

Lifeproof’s Slam

LifeProof SLAM is LifeProof’s cheapest case. Slam is slim and is drop-rated to two metres (that’s 6.6ft in the old measurements). Slam is one of the toughest cases and it allows you to show the colour of your iPhone.

Slamis one of the thinnest cases that weʼve come across for the iPhone and it also has style with the clear back showing off the colour of your Rose Gold iPhone 8 Plus for example.

Lifeproof Flip Wallet

The Flip Wallet case from Lifeproof flips around the idea of the wallet case as this heavy-duty case is not a typical wallet style of case. Indeed there there is a wallet flap that flips, but it does not close to cover over the screen as other wallet cases do.

And if you’re the kind of person who likes slim cases, you’re probably better off with a Casemate Wallet folio case or another type of case as the LifeProof wallet is bulky. Lifeproof are renound for their very protective cases. And this protectiontakes priority over mere looks with LifeProof cases.

The Flip Wallet case is a new style of case, and it is only currently available for the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro, as well as the iPone 11 Pro Max. It is available in three colurs: Dark Night (Black/Grey), Cement Surfer (Blue/Slate), Water Lily (Light Blue/Green).

As stated previously rather having your typical wallet folio style, Lifeproof’s case features a thick back that flips open and closed.

The case’s fabric flap has slots for card and another longer slot behind them for cash. Don’t want to overstuff this flap, or else it will not hold shut.

The flap has a large cut out to for the camera module. And you are able to flip the flap all the way around and use it as a kickstand for watching videos. This works well at a variety of angles.

Strongly encourage you to work with True Local Electricians Sutherland Shire. I contacted them to discuss our kitchen lighting. They were attentive, patient, and able to work within our budget. The team adhered to the timetable completely, arrived on time, and completed the project ahead of schedule.Before we had our Christmas, my husband told me the mood lighting light fixture in our primary kitchen was out. Since I had been in the Sutherland Shire shops, I thought we had a problem, so I took him at his word. Still nothing happened. We went to the local hardware store and bought new bulbs, but it didn't help. Obviously, we have a problem. We did a search on Google for emergency electrician Sutherland Shire and found some positive feedback. On the phone, they were very nice and made an appointment for us to come the day before family arrived. They arrived precisely on time, checked the fixture, and then said, "Is there a dimmer switch on one of the two switches?" Absolutely! That is right, yes. One of the newer, more subtle coolers that are barely visible is: They changed the switch, pressed the button, and said "click." Incredibly, the adjuster switch had gone up, and by good fortune, we had light! I was persistent because they had squeezed us into their very busy holiday schedule.Thank you guys and will be in touch in the future with any electrical needs.

They finished all of the work for our electrical upgrade home renovation. True Local Electricians are professionals who are also laid-back. Very reliable and they do quality work and their rates are also very fair.Our bedrooms' overhead lights and a single room's outlets stopped functioning. I called another reputable electrician Sutherland Shire, who said I had a broken wire and wanted to charge me $2490 after checking the same things I did. I called True Local Electricians number and asked them to come to my house. After further investigation, they discovered that it was actually a defective power outlet. For the time they were there, it ended up costing a lot less $$$$ in total.They fixed our lighting to transform our dark master and guest bedrooms into light-filled spaces. All with a free quote include. In my garage, they installed an EV charger. The electrical service was timely, competent, and more than fair. I highly recommend hiring True Local Electricians for any electrical needs. For my next electrical project, I would definitely be giving them a call.

I was really pleased to have been able to link up with True Local Electricians on for my project. I search for a electrician Sutherland Shire online and found them.My doorbell cable, which was dead and most probably disconnected, was tested for power. We debated alternatives and agreed to install a thermostat and doorbell transformer 24V 40VA, which I had already bought online.Upon reading the manual and video instructions, they then proceeded to mount my new doorbell and camera. A metal cover plate was also mounted, which they had to drill new holes into so that the doorbell could be properly attached, they mounted both ceiling fans in a timely way and I am sure that they will be back quickly if anything ever happens to them.They were so efficient, detailed and did not take a long time! the price was right, and I recommend them highly!I have been raving to my friends about them and giving them their information! Like I said, very thorough, successful and truthful, you don't find a lot of these days!No bs, no attitude, we also just bought an electric car and we're going to have True Local Electricians come back to help us mount a level 2 EV charging station.You get 10 stars!!!! We had a short and lost the use of the lights in the kitchen, laundry and one bedroom. I rang a number of electricians listed in the St. George Leader with various results, one charging $187 just to provide a quote!True Local responded immediately and promised to come at a certain time, then rang 15 minutes prior to that time to advise they were on their way. Anthony spent an hour investigating the problem and then provided a written quote at no charge. The quote was reasonable and covered new fittings, lights and fans.Our house is federation double brick and tile with an old extension under a tin roof. The work was difficult and took 11 hours, quite a bit in the ceiling and on the roof on a hot day. They were pleasant, diligent, careful, professional and meticulous in their manner and their work. Theyâd did not leave until the job was completed to both our satisfactions and charged the quoted fee!We are very happy with the result and have already recommended them to our neighbours.

The True Local Electricians team showed up with a face mask and provided a timely electrical work estimate. 5 power outlets in my house near the Sutherland Shire library short circuited and I had no idea how to fix it. Couldn't be anymore happy with these guys honestly.We woke up on Saturday morning and noticed we had no power to half the house. Noticing the Porcelain fuse had melted in the switch board i was not confident in going near it at all !!As there name states being local to me in Cronulla was a bonus. They took my call straight away noticed my level of urgency was at my front door with in the hour. Anthony and Alex turned up gave me a up front quote had all the parts did the job then and there.
